The hype is real my friends, this place is a legit five star raw food cafe. They have friendly staff, a unique seating area, and amazing raw food. I really, really hate to use Yelp clichés, however this place is a "Hidden Gem" by definition; I mean really hidden. The cafe is literally on the rear side of a comercial complex building. There signs for the cafe when you turn off the main road, but no signs on the main road. If I didn't find this place on the Yelp app I would never know about it. When you walk in its like stepping into another dimension. The place is decorated to be peaceful and tranquil. They have a counter where you order, but the room to the side is such a cool room. It's not traditional seating it's more like the comfy seating you would see in an indy coffee shop with lots and lots of plants; so beautiful!! On my first visit I had the raw garden burger with dried plantain chips. This was my very first raw food meal and I have to say I was quite impressed on how good it was, and those plantain chips were so good! The second time I had the Guc de Wrap which was another amazing dish; I was unaware of how awesome the actual wrap made of dehydrated vegetables could be! I work all over northern NJ and this gives me a reason to be excited about working in Northwestern Bergen County! read more

What a great meal!!! We were with my wife at Subaru dealer next door and when they were working on our paperwork we had 1 hour so we decided to look for a place to have a bite. We are organic people so our 1st search was roots cafe. Very cute area with a farm, wellness center and a food truck. We pick 2 smoothies, the shroomy and lavender blue taste so delicious. We order the beyond good burrito and the pad Thai, both were spectacular. They place to seat, picnic table with shades and a porch to relax, they even bring your food to you. What a great service. Quick review: My new favorite place to eat and maybe even hang out and get work done with a coffee or smoothie. Came in and was greeted right away and directed to their menus on the wall. Both of the things I wanted said Sold out. So I went with my third choice (pizza) and a veggie juice( the protector). The protector juice was really tasty especially the ginger and apple in it! It came out cold and quickly! The pizza came on top of a salad. So many greens on my salad plus sprouts, peppers, tomatoes, and a lemony gingery dressing( im actually not sure what was it, but it was good) NOW FOR THE PIZZA... it was a flax and hemp seed crust with pesto, cashew cheez, and raw veggies. It was crazyyyy good. I started eating a whole plant based 1 month ago. Its been really hard to find good places to eat. Roots does everything right it vegan and healthy!!! This place is cozy too and the staff was beyond amazing and accommodating... I cant wait to go again and again... Oh And then dessert cinnabon was mind blowing. We can't say enough great things about this place. Everything we've had here so far was absolutely delicious. Super friendly vibes with everyone you interact with. CONS: The place is cramped inside and there were way more seats than tables throwing off the seat to table ratio. It's in a garage that's​ open so bugs will come in. Not that many chairs so you have to sit on a pillow on the floor which is uncomfortable! The menu hardly has anything on it and changes constantly and there is very limited​ parking. Also, I​ don't believe there's a public bathroom. Wow, found this gem when I did a quick google search for raw vegan while visiting the area a couple of weeks ago and what a surprise this adorable place is. It's situated off the beaten path next to a small privately owned farm yoga studio and wellness center. The cinnamon roll is ridiculous... almost better than a traditional cinnamon roll and the burrito is delicious as well with their plantain and flax wrap. I just got the mocha madness smoothie and wow SO delicious. This is a destination eatery in my opinion bc good raw food restaurants around this area are few and far between. Was my first time visiting and can't say enough great things. Tables outside nicely spaced out, great vibe, nice staff and decor. Note it's behind a taste of Spain so that will help find it in navigation. We had the vegan pizza and spaghetti and veggie balls, was delicious. And a bar for dessert. The sunny juice was amazing with beets, pineapple, lime, etc. a must try even bring your non vegan friends and they should enjoy. Bonus they have goat yoga in Sunday's?! First time here for "breakfast". The food here is so healthy and "clean". This morning I am having the Mexican fiesta taco. What's not to love. Avocado carrots spiced jicama all wrapped in a cabbage taco. It is served with house made spicy kale chips on the side. This postage stamp of a Resturant has a fiercely loyal following from the health club next door. I can see why. I used to live very close to Roots and would go out of my way to work for a juice or smoothie. I even bought my boyfriend Valentine's Day chocolates from here because we were obsessed. SO bummed I no longer live close to this place. It is so authentic, almost like it's got dropped here from CO or CA to New Jersey. So not commercialized like so so many of the "health food" places that have been popping up. If I am ever in the area again soon, I will definitely stop by. If you're looking for expensive fixtures and a luxurious environment, keep looking. But if you want healthy food that taste great, this is the place! I've been eating clean (mostly) for several years and am always looking for a place where I don't have to worry about GMO's, trash oils, dairy, steroids, pesticides and generally crappy food ; This is one of those places.
