HOMEOWNER WARNING -- MY EXPERIENCE WITH ROOTER HERO 1 STAR -- I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY I'm posting this because I don't want another homeowner to go through what I experienced. In February 2025, my kitchen sink clogged. I called Rooter Hero expecting them to diagnose and clear the blockage. They descaled the pipe, then told me that wasn't enough and that the pipes needed to be replaced. I trusted their professional recommendation. I paid approximately $17,000. I was told the work came with a 10-year warranty. Now, the same kitchen sink is clogged again. When I contacted Rooter Hero, I expected them to stand behind the work and warranty. Instead, I was told the pipe is eroded, more pipe needs to be replaced, and apparently the new work is not covered by the warranty. Even more troubling, the technician involved in the original repair, now says he has never been to my house and did not perform the repair. He said he would recognize his own work. I have text messages documenting our previous communications, including messages about him coming to my home at a specific time to perform the repair. His name was on the invoice. So here is where I am: $17,000 spent. 10-year warranty. Same kitchen sink problem returns. Technician now denies having been to my house. Denied that he did the work. More pipe replacement recommended. More money potentially required. But this isn't the first experience that caused me concern. During the previous work, I was also told that my gas pipe was on the verge of a major leak and urgently needed replacement at a cost of approximately $20,000. Fortunately, a building inspector happened to be nearby. I asked him to examine the gas pipes. I was told there was nothing requiring the urgent replacement Rooter Hero was recommending. The gas pipes are still fine. That was a major red flag for me. I can only speak about my own experience, but it has completely destroyed my confidence in this company. MY ADVICE TO OTHER HOMEOWNERS: If Rooter Hero -- or any plumbing company -- tells you that you urgently need $10,000, $20,000, or more in repairs, do not feel pressured to approve the work immediately. * Get the diagnosis in writing. * Ask for photographs or video showing the problem. * Get the warranty terms in writing. * Keep every text message, email, invoice, and receipt. * Most importantly, GET AN INDEPENDENT SECOND OPINION before authorizing expensive work. If I had done that before spending approximately $17,000, I might have saved myself a tremendous amount of money and frustration. $17,000 later, my kitchen sink is clogged again. Their technicians are licensed SALESPEOPLE that work on commission and will look for things to upsell a job to make more money. They seem to be into bait and switch on most projects. They did come pretty quickly, but were going to charge over $200 to clear the toilet? When I mentioned the coupon he (Bryan) said it wasn't good for this case, because it was only for if they did it from outside of the house? What?!! Offered a senior discount, and I took it because I needed the work done, but it was a classic bait and switch. He cleared it using the same type of snake I was using, just a bit bigger! On Sunday July 5, 2026, one of our 2 toilets backed up. We called Rooter Hero because I have heard the radio spots by the Owner of the company saying how great their technicians are, satisfaction guaranteed, his cell number on the back of each technicians business card, etc... The technician that came out didn't even look at the clogged toilet we called about but went directly to the main line and ran his cable machine down the main line from outside the house. Then he said his cable was getting stuck on something and was unable to clear our line. His next suggestion was to have his supervisor come out the next day and run a camera down the line to find out what was causing the blockage. Just to run the camera was going to cost $400. Even though he was not able to fix the clogged toilet, he charged us and went on his way. When he was leaving I asked him for his business card, and he claimed to not have one. The next day, Monday, we were able to reach out regular plumber, (who is not available on Sundays), and he came to our house. He said since there was only one toilet that was clogged, he needed to clear that line by running a cable down the vent from the roof above the affected bathroom. In under an hour we were all fixed and back to normal. Later that day I called Rooter Hero back to see about a refund because obviously they didn't fix our problem and we weren't at all satisfied. The call center gal who answered assured me that I was entitled to a refund and said a manager would be contacting me. I received no call. The bottom line is that Rooter Hero does not live up to their advertising at all. They didn't fix the problem, gave me lip service about a refund that never came, and the owner's claim that his "personal cell phone number is one the back of every technician's business card" is BS since their technicians don't carry business cards in the first place! I give them a 1 Star rating only because there is no ZERO rating. I am extremely disappointed will our encounter with this company, and would absolutely recommend using ANYONE else than Rooter Hero. read more

I had a very frustrating experience with this plumber. I scheduled an appointment because my faucet was too stiff to turn. Since I'm only available in the morning, they gave me a window from 9 AM to 12 PM the next day. I asked if they could narrow it down, but they said no. I ended up rearranging my schedule and taking time off to wait. Then, close to 12 PM, they called and said they didn't have a technician available after all. We rescheduled for the next morning. Before the visit, I asked about pricing, and they told me it would be a free estimate -- they would come out, check the issue, explain the cost, and then I could decide whether to proceed. However, when the technician arrived, he went straight under the sink and started working without clearly explaining anything or giving me an estimate first. After less than 5 minutes, he said he was done. The faucet was still extremely stiff -- honestly too hard for my kids to use, which is a problem since it's in their bathroom. When I mentioned this, he said that was the best he could do and that tightening it further would cause the whole fixture to move. I felt uneasy but trusted his explanation. Then suddenly he told me the total was $250. I was shocked. No one had told me the price beforehand, and I was never given a chance to approve the work. On top of that, the issue wasn't even properly fixed. When I pushed back, he said he would call the office -- and immediately came back offering to lower it to $150. That made the whole situation feel even more unreliable and untrustworthy. Overall, this experience felt very unprofessional. I called Rooter Hero after hearing a radio ad for a $49 snake and camera inspection. On the phone, they upcharged the quote to $77. However, once the technicians arrived, they claimed the price was actually $350. After a "check," they claimed my pipes were destroyed and demanded $13,000 for repairs. When I asked for photo or video proof, they admitted they had no footage, claiming it was "too dirty" to see--yet they somehow "saw" enough to declare the pipes broken. I got a second opinion from another company. They simply cleaned the roots for $500 and provided video footage proving my pipes were in perfectly good condition. We had Travis Erickson and his team come in to replace a failing water heater and do a partial sewer pipe repair for an upstairs sink. The sink pipe was repaired using an applied in place technique with industrial epoxy. This was a pricey fix but prevented our kitchen cabinets from needing to be removed and then reinstalled along an entire wall. It's hard to say if that fix might have been just as expensive and the epoxy fix came with a 10 year guarantee. This is a phenomenal solution and was quick. The team was prompt, polite and did a good job. Travis spent a lot of time explaining things to us. He connected us with a company that would dry out the walls where the pipe had leaked. He took responsibility for cleanup after his team was done and we would hire Rooter Heroes again. read more

His quote had no details, just a number. He claimed it needed "additional work." When asked what additional work, he said opening a trap and laying down some sheets. Another man arrived and ran a camera confirming the blockage. He said we needed our whole house repiped for $13000 or $14000. Never did they go under our house and inspect any pipes. They charged us $239 for basically doing nothing and left. (I disputed the charges and paid $118 service call fee). Ok so, I called them about a clogged drain. The plumber that came was a very nice gentleman. I wish a lot of plumbers were like him. Sadly that's where the positives stop. So after being told that my entire plumbing needs to be fixed...Even the new plumbing that was installed I guess? But anywho, so the clogged drain was either needing a whole new pipe installed or they could try to de clog with the snake. So I told the plumber to snake it....which would cost $250 apparently? But none the less, he tried it out and apparently his motorized snake got stuck in my pipe, somehow. So he tried to wiggle it out, not the most gentle of plumbers but I ain't gonna tell him what to do. So as it got to the end and he was almost out with the snake, he seemed to be getting frustrated I guess. To the point where he ripped a part of the sink pipe straight off. This wouldn't have been an issue, but I'll get to why it was in a second. I went out for a bit cause I had to, then they did a diagnostic with the manager I was told, but later I guess he was just a technician... So for redo'ing the damage that he caused under the sink, plus apparent increased sizing of the pipe, a new main sink pipe and plugging some holes, the quote was $5800. Which seemed a bit much. So I was planning on telling them no, but I was also curious if they had fixed the damage of the under sink pipe. I got home, they were gone, so when I called the plumber to ask about the broken drain pipe under my sink, he said he was only going to fix that if I paid half of the quoted price. Saying that it wasn't his fault, and it wasn't mine. So it kinda felt like this was done on purpose to upsell a fix, I don't know if that was the case, but even if the pipe wasn't going to work anyway, it just left a bad taste in the mouth. When I asked them to leave, they were suddenly able to do it for 1100. Even though that is still way overpriced, I let them do the work. When I asked for a report of the work they did and a detailed paragraph of the problem in order to contact insurance, they kept saying they're "escalating this to management" for 3 weeks and I have not heard a single thing back from them. Today, I had a leak in the supply line from my house to the water softener which was spraying water everywhere! Absolute disregard for safety. One of their drivers could have KILLED me on Wednesday 2/19/25 at about 6:45pm. I am a registered nurse and was on my way to work at the hospital in Newport Beach when a Rooter Hero van plowed his way through the gore point area from the 405S so he could make it onto the 55S ramp. I had to swerve into the other lane, thankfully there were no cars next to me and the person behind me was able to avoid rear ending me. He literally came at a high speed and got into my lane with me still in it. I was shaking! I have never gotten into an automobile accident in that area in my 15 yrs of commuting to work. Don't use this company. They have incompetent plumbers who will act like they are trying to unclog your drain and then put a camera down there saying there's pit and holes in the sewer pipe. Ernesto said he couldn't clear the stoppage in my main sewer line, but he never used a spade blade, U-Shaped Cutter, or bulb auger. He only used the cable with no attachment and said he was unable to clear the stoppage. He also found a pile of blonde golden retriever hair in the pipe and tried to convince me that these were roots. He then admitted that I might be right when I pushed back and explained that it sure looks like my dog's hair. He then calls his supervisor, Jose, who has the drain camera. Jose tries to convince me that I need to have my main sewer line hydro-blasted ($4,900 - $5,900) and re-lined, in which the hydro-blast cost would be credited toward the $13,000 cost to re-line. He tells me there are holes and pits in my cast iron pipe, meaning a re-lining will be necessary. They told me there was dirt and debri preventing them from clearing the stoppage, and said this is most likely from the pipe collapsing and leaking dirt in the sewer line. Having no knowledge of plumbing I was trusting their opinion and trusted that they did what they could, so I paid them for their $250 services. The very next morning (today: December 12, 2025), Eric from Valley Rooter came out and ACTUALLY used a U-Shaped Cutter attachment with his cable. He was able to clear the stoppage within one hour using this U-Shaped cutter. He informed me that my main line sewer drain was in great shape and showed me that my drain functions properly. This proves that Ernesto and Jose provided incomplete service and were fraudulently attempting to convince me that my main sewer line was needing a $13,000 unnecessary "repair". read more

He started by checking the thermostat and immediately went to the outside unit. I had to take a call for work, and by the time I was off, he charged my elderly grandma $335 for a repair (capacitor) that I can buy and install for less than $30 myself. (I replaced this about 6 years ago and it's extremely easy). Again, the service call was for a $77 tune-up ONLY. I was not happy that he took advantage of her and his excuse was "labor and disposal fees" for the outrageous charge.
