We have mixed feelings about this company. The technicians seem knowledgeable and nice. We don't want to say that everything about our experience was bad. We are simply sharing our honest experience. We have had this company come to our house twice for major plumbing work. It all started with our shower not draining. The first job was relining our main line, which cost us over $15,000. They told us that if we had any problems afterward, to give them a call. So when our shower stopped draining less than three months later, that's exactly what we did. We were obviously concerned about having another drainage problem so soon after spending that much money. They explained that the new issue was unrelated to the piping they relined and was a separate plumbing issue. What confused us was that during this second visit, they tested much more of our plumbing and recommended much more work all totaling approximately another $21,000. Honestly, we were like, where was all of this testing and these recommendations the first time around? At that point, we just wanted to fix our drainage problem, so we decided to move forward only with a toilet flange repair. This is where some of our concerns came up. We were originally told they could start the same day and that it would be about a two-hour job. Then we were told they needed to get parts, but no one came back for hours. We had to follow up multiple times to find out when they were returning, and at one point, we were even hung up on. Eventually, as it got late in day, we agreed to reschedule for the next day. When they arrived, we were told the two-hour job was now going to take about five hours. We understood that things can change once the work begins, but the job ended up taking nearly 12 hours! causing us to cancel all of our plans for the day! Part of our frustration was that they also continued leaving for long periods to look for parts when we thought the parts situation had already been handled the night before and even before they arrived that morning. We also wish there had been better communication about the parts being replaced. Our bathroom fixtures are black and bronze, but a silver drain piece was installed that doesn't match. There is also a visible gap around the drain, and the shower stopper is a basic mesh piece. Our toilet also doesn't appear to be properly aligned, and the screw covers were lost, leaving the screws exposed. Had we known these items were going to be replaced, we would have appreciated being asked if we wanted to provide or choose our own replacements so they would match our bathroom. One of the technicians also offered to flush our water heater and teach us how to maintain it, which we appreciated. However, afterward, the water heater began constantly dripping. We were told the technician who originally flushed it would be contacted, but no one came back to follow up. We were also told by the supervisor who came to our home that someone would contact us regarding financing. After not hearing anything for several days, we had to follow up with the office ourselves. When we requested the invoice, we noticed a few charges we had questions about, including an additional technician we didn't know about and a dump truck, although we never saw a dump truck at our house. Because of those questions, we are also requesting the invoice from our first job. Overall, we have mixed feelings. We do feel the technicians are knowledgeable and have generally been nice to work with, which is why we trusted them enough to move forward with a $15,000+ project in the first place. At the same time, having another drainage issue less than three months later, has left us with some questions. Our biggest takeaway is to ask questions, get the invoice from the beginning, make sure you understand what work is being recommended and why, and ask before parts are replaced. The first time around, we didn't think to do all of that because we felt comfortable with the technicians and trusted that everything was being handled. Extremely Unprofessional and Misleading Practices My neighbor and I both have backyard drains that were clogged. He called The Rooter Company, and they initially quoted him over $1,100. When he pushed back, they "checked with a manager" and suddenly offered a "special price" of $499. They completed his job at that rate. Since I needed the exact same service, I called them as well. A technician named Christian arrived within two hours. I showed him the drains, and he had me fill them with water to "prove" they were clogged. I installed a three-stage whole-house water filtration system, and unfortunately one of the granular charcoal cartridges cracked, sending charcoal debris throughout my water lines. I'd never dealt with this before, so I figured I'd call the professionals. That turned out to be optimistic. Alex and Chris came out right away for a quote. I clearly explained what happened and told them I was confident the clogs were not in the fixtures, but at the shut-off valves. They agreed and said they'd return first thing the next morning. The next morning came...and they didn't. After several calls and several "they'll be there" updates, I eventually got bumped to the following day because another project took priority. Apparently my charcoal-filled plumbing lost its VIP status. To give credit where it's due, Chris and Charles were polite, respectful, and careful in my home. I genuinely appreciated that. Unfortunately, being polite doesn't unclog pipes--and neither does ignoring the customer. When Chris and Charles finally came back, Chris decided the kitchen clog was probably in the fixture--the exact place I had already checked and told them was NOT the problem. They flushed it and, plot twist: it didn't work. I again pointed to the shut-off valve. At this point, I was starting to feel less like the customer and more like an unpaid plumbing consultant. My shower was clogged as well, so Chris removed and flushed the mixing valve. That improved the flow, but the valve was put back incorrectly and became extremely difficult to turn. I eventually had to replace it myself. Apparently my $390 plumbing service came with a complimentary DIY course. As for the kitchen? I finally pulled off the shut-off valve myself and--would you look at that--a bunch of charcoal debris came pouring out. Problem solved. Exactly where I said it was. The quoted rate was $195/hour. They were at my house around two hours, although I estimate the actual working time, excluding phone calls and downtime, was closer to one. I was told there was a two-hour minimum. Apparently, the minimum charge was much easier to diagnose than the clog. The most frustrating part? During the initial visit, I was specifically told I wouldn't be charged if they misdiagnosed the problem. Yet I was charged the full two hours anyway. I called a plumber because I didn't know how to fix this unusual problem. In the end, I paid $390 and fixed both issues myself. I definitely would not recommend this company to friends or family. While we did not go with The Rooter Company for our Repipe project their service experience was excellent and we wanted to recognize that. Mark and his team came out quickly to respond to a slab leak at our home. The team was by far the most thorough in their inspection, they scoped and even got up on the roof to check vents just to make sure they covered every angle. They were upfront with their pricing didn't try to sell us on anything we didn't need, and more importantly respected when we said we had to get a few more quotes to make a decision. That is VERY rare in this business. Mark kept in touch and even offered to match the bid we ultimately chose to go with. So why did we do it? It came down to that company being a repipe only specialist that had done multiple homes in our neighbourhood going back about 10 years. The good was the quality repair to the crushed pipes. Installed new pipe to the damaged areas. It was a big job. The crew was respectful, cleaned up each day after themselves. The main guy, Irving was a blessing. He was customer focused, kept the crew working. He was always concerned about how we were dealing with the chaos around the 3 holes in our house, the piles of dirt in our courtyard. Always asking how we're doing. True asset to any company. Now the BAD...The actual plumbing work took 8 days. That in itself was overwhelming. To accomplish this work, the crew pulled up a portion of the luxury vinyl in the master bedroom, dug a good size hole, did the same in the master closet and a third hole in the guest bathroom. We understood why this was necessary. When the new plumbing installation was complete (8 days), the contract stated they would make sure everything would be put back the way it was before they started. It literally took 22 days before my 3 rooms were back to the original condition. The subcontractor they sent out to put the flooring back was not qualified. The plumbing company filled the holes and poured "some" concrete. They did not level it, which should have been the restoration company making sure of before laying down the luxury vinyl. We had 4 1/2 boxes of new planks for them to use if needed. As it turned out the flooring company removed more planks and made the restoration much larger than it needed to be. Consequently there was not enough of our flooring. After several calls to find our replacement luxury vinyl it was determined it was discontinued and none to be found. The Rooter Company agreed to let us pick a replacement flooring that we would be happy with. Since we were not happy with quality of work their installer performed, they allowed us to find our own installer. We did appreciate The Rooter Company making the situation right to our satisfaction. Was the company good? Yes as far as the plumbing repairs. Did they follow through with fixing the affected area in our 3 rooms in a timely manner, NO! My recommendation is before starting any work, get in writing a start & end date of all repairs. Make sure the subcontractors they use know what they're doing. I tried calling the CEO of the Rooter Company, I believe his name was Mark, left a message, would like a call back. He never called. Not good customer service. And for that reason, I will not recommend this company. Based on my explanation of our experience, it's up for you to decide to use them or not. read more

TRC came out to clear two drains and couldn't clear either one. Instead of getting the job done, they called in the camera guy and then told me my pipes were too old to clear and that I needed a REPipe for 18k. I called my brother, who used to clear drains for a living. He came over and cleared BOTH drains easily. That tells me everything I need to know. A good drain technician takes pride in being able to clear a difficult drain. TRC couldn't do it, then tried to turn a simple drain-cleaning job into an expensive repipe that I clearly did NOT need. If my brother could clear both drains without a problem, why couldn't the professionals I was paying do it? In my experience, this felt a lot more like an upsell than a legitimate diagnosis. This was a painful experienced. Everything started off well, but ultimately ended up in a place that cost me more time. The first individual that was sent evaluated the washing machine standpipe and p-trap. He stated that I needed a hydro jet. I also asked about replacing the two valves for the water fill. He proceeded to go through the house and tally up all of the valves that he believed needed replacement. He included two that were literally just replaced two years ago. (They function perfectly.) The bill for the valves came to ~$200 each. I declined replacing any of them, as it wasn't an emergency and it made more sense to get quotes ONLY for the two I'd originally asked to be replaced. He told me that there was a special going on for the hydro jet that brought the price down to $500. When he handed me the his iPad to approve the work, the total was $695. I asked him how it went from $500 to $695. He told me that the cost to look at the pipe was added to the "special" price for the hydro jet. I asked what if I do not want the camera. His reply, "We don't do a hydro jet without doing the camera." Though I can understand the need for the camera, if it is mandatory for the hydro jet, the full normal price is actually $890 and is reduced to $695. No matter how I tried to explain this to him, he just didn't get it. I signed the work order and paid a $70 deposit. Two gentlemen came later in the day to do the hydro jet service. About 10 minutes in they told me that they could not do the hydro jet service because they could not get the hose past the p-trap. They then told me that they would have to have someone come out the following day to look at the pipe with a camera to see what was obstructing the pipe. They said they do not carry a camera. The next day the guy with the camera showed up. He spent, maybe, 5 minutes at my home. He tried to look at the pipe with his camera. He stated that he could not get his camera past the p-trap. He then wrote up a quote for over $5,000 to replace the pipe and then try again to hydro jet. I declined and noted I needed to think on it. I contacted another plumber at that point. What was curious to me was that the individuals doing the hydro jet service didn't have the camera that was MANDATORY for a hydro jet service. The same day as the failed camera experiment, I got a charge on my card for $625. So, they hydro jet service was not (could not be) completed. The camera service was not (could not be) completed. Yet their expectation is that I pay anyway. I left them a message stating that if they did not want me to initiate a charge-back, they had better credit the amount noted. I received a call and was told that they understood and that they would initiate the credit through their accounting team. That never happened, and the charge has since been disputed. From my perspective, this company has no other interest than fleecing people. I don't understand how they have a rating as high as it is. The other plumber I called completed the work (a hydro jet never would have worked on these pipes so they performed a de-scale). The also replaced the standpipe, p-trap, and drain plug. They also did multiple runs of their camera to show me the before and after. Total cost? $4,200. read more

Tech Mark said my credit was good enough to rate a promotional 18month 0% interest payoff which I took. Then the fun began: payment amount was apx. $900 more than quote with no promo interest rate. I started calling Rooter company and Service Finance to resolve this and after nearly a month I have no result and have been told that if I don't pay my credit will be affected. Quality work and reasonable rates. The Rooter Company has honest plumbers with integrity. We had 3 faucets, 2 garbage disposals, and 2 dishwashers connected with new pipes under the sinks. We had a kitchen restoration job that went bad, where the original contractors did a horrible job. So when the plumbers orignally came after we got our estimate, they had informed us the countertops and sinks were not installed correctly and there is a huge gap that can affect the plumbing if they were to install the plumbing at that moment. I chose to get the countertops and sink installation done correctly. Honesty -the plumbers checked for any potential problems that may occur if they were to proceed. As a homeowner, I appreciate this. Integrity- Most plumbers would have just done the job and not care about future issues. Customer service- communication with the plumbers is key. They answered all my questions in a professional manner. Our trust with Vinny the manager is the reason why we chose this company. Silvano and Isaiah were the plumbers that came out. They performed the work in an efficient manner. They were friendly and informed me about the work before and after the installation. They took all the trash and left the place clean. More importantly, when calling the company, they came out quickly to access and schedule the work as soon as possible. VIP service.
