My husband and I rode our bicycles here from Key West for lunch. I love wood fired or brick oven pizza. We ordered the working man lunch which was a small pizza or sandwich with choice of soup or salad. I totally expected a very small personal pizza and to our surprise we both got full size easy 12" pizzas. We easily could have shared one. Pizza was great to the point I even ate all my crust. Salads did not disappoint either and service was spot on. We would definitely go back. read more

Amazing Pizza!! I tried the Hells Kitchen and it was perfection! The spicy salami was bout a 3 on the spice scale, enough for added flavor but not too much to enjoy the traditional flavor. My Hubbie got the spaghetti with meatballs, absolutely did not disappoint! Traditional flavors, giant meatballs smothered in sauce just what we wanted. The atmosphere outside was the best, the Merlot was very smooth and the service was excellent all around. Definitely try this place if you're craving ANY Italian! read more

I was looking for some authentic Italian food with a seafood focus and wow did I find a gem. The restaurant is on Stock Island away from downtown Key West so at first I didn't want to make the drive. I was very happy that I did. The special was hogfish picata. I have to say it was the freshest fish I have ever eaten. I think they get the fish right off the dock at the end of Stock Island. It was so incredibly delicious. My wife got the shrimp scampi. Huge Key West pink shrimp that tasted more like lobster than shrimp. We sat at the pizza bar so we could watch them cooking in front of us. I highly recommend this wonderful Italian restaurant. Very friendly and attentive staff and the manager Mark stopped by to make sure everything was ok. Old school service! Large portions so we had some for lunch the next day. Came here on our last night in Key West as we were trying to avoid going down near Duval. You can tell this is definitely a local's spot and I see why! The oyster app was delicious. Roost is a beautiful restaurant on stock island. Looks lovely with authentic Italian people's portraits on its walls. However, the food has no seasonings and that's not Italian. The Brussel sprouts were undercooked and had no salt at all. The meatballs were tasteless. The caesar salad was also bad and had whole anchovies on the top instead of making a proper caesar dressing using the anchovies. The gnocchi was pastey and had no flavor. The veal was in a red wine sauce but the chef didn't cook out the alcohol. The sauce was unseasoned, red wine with a thickener. Inedible. The waitress was lazy, didn't change our plates, made us hold on to our utensils and was overwhelmed. I would not recommend this place to those who have a true passion for Italian or just foodies. This is off the beaten path, but so glad we stop in for the deep dish pizza cooked in the wood fired oven! The restaurant was nicely decorated and has air conditioning! This is probably one of the best Italian pizzas I have had in the states. Top 5 for sure. The crust is doughy around the perimeter as it should be, the base thin. You get that distinct smoky flavor that you would in a wood burning pizza oven back across the pond. The ingredients are fresh, the size is just right. Giving it a 4 because we really didn't try anything else and we had to get another pizza made since one came out not as we ordered it. Service was friendly, prompt. Served me undercooked pork that led to food poisoning for several days. Still haven't recovered. Ordered takeout of a pizza, calzone and garlic bread. Pizza was crispy and warm around the crust but entirely cold in the center, where they stuck a big blob of cold ground sausage. I realized it was cold after I swallowed the first bite, but managed to spit out the rest. Went to try the calzone to see if it was better. The outside was warm, but inside was cold too, also had pork. After spitting that out, I went to the garlic bread I ordered as an appetizer and it had barely any markings on it to indicate it was cooked. It was chewy and cold with pieces of inedible garlic at the top. Overall, an unpleasant experience. The rest of my group thought the food was rather forgettable. However, the fact that I got miserably sick about an hour after eating this junk, and am still sick should serve as a sign to stay away. Someone in the back kitchen needs to relearn how to cook food. read more

They brought out food as it was complete so some people in our party waited for 20 minutes while others ate or finished. My pizza came on a gluten free crust which is not what I ordered. They forgot one order as well and we waited another 20 min Food. D. My pizza was like cardboard. The feta cheese had no flavor and we wondered if maybe it was tofu. I'm very torn giving this place 3 stars, let me explain. The appetizer which was Italian sausage was amazing, I mean some of the best ever. The. The lasagna came out, and it was 90% cheese. I like cheese, but this was overkill. It had very little sauce, noodles, or meat. I've had better frozen lasagna by far. The service was not good either, really only saw our waitress when she took our order then to bring the check.what was really odd was we had 3 other people taking things off our table, but nobody to refill our water. When we were finished the woman at the cash register seemed concerned and searched for our waitress to ask us if we liked everything which we told her the truth and she just said ok. I'm torn because the sausage and peppers and sauce showed real promise, and maybe it was just a bad night for the waitress and lasagna was off. We've been here a few times. It's a great way to escape the tourist scene in Key West and the tourist prices! The food and service are always solid. We've had the pizza, lasagna and one of the best Key Lime Pies around. Nice quiet atmosphere with quirky slogans like "Legalize Marinara" posted. Parking is tight but well worth the time. We were so looking forward to eating here and heard a lot of good things about the food. We were really disappointed the pizza had no flavor at all. We ordered the Margarita pizza, and it came out with no basil, and we even ordered it with pepperoni and mushrooms with onions. The service was awful. We ran out of water, and the server was more interested in socializing at the bar with her friends than waiting her table. There was only us and another couple sitting outside. This is our first time at this restaurant, we ordered key west pink shrimp scampi (Tuesday special) and lasagna. OMG both dishes were absolutely delicious. This should be added your must go restaurant list whenever you visit Key West. Jyllian was our server and she was wonderful and attentive. The ambiance is casual and very inviting. For dessert we ordered a Tiramisu and that too was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant and we will come back next time we are in the area. read more

We were looking for somewhere to have Mothers Day dinner and boy were we lucky we decided on Roostica. We arrived right at 4:00 on Sunday. We were greeted and seated with a friendly smile. We loved the atmosphere immediately and the place filled up fast. The locals have a lovely little place here. We were going to just share a pizza but the hubby is a spaghetti fan and the daily special on Sunday is Sundays Gravy as is in red gravy and it's the best we've had at any Italian place we've been. I had the Hell's Kitchen Diavola a pizza with pepperoni, spicy salami and percorino cheese along with mozzarella and garlic. I'm going to have cravings for this long after we leave here. Just as good munching on a cold slice in the middle of the night as it was hot and fresh from the oven. We got a slice of key lime pie to go and again it's one best in a town known for Key lime pie. If we lived here we'd be regulars. We have two more weeks here, we'll definitely be back at least once, probably twice before we leave. read more

My friends and I went to Roostica one day for lunch. It was the closest restaurant to our resort on Stock Island. Everyone enjoyed their meals. It was a nice ambiance...casual. The parking lot was full but we were able to park for free on the street. By reviewing everyone else's photos here on Yelp, I'm realizing I really should have checked out inside. I walked in thru the outdoor area, sat there, and never saw the inside. I'm also thinking dinner would have been a better meal over lunch. I had the chicken parm sandwich which came with pasta salad and marinara sauce for dipping. It was good...fine. Nothing to rave about but wasn't bad either. My friend had a great looking bloody mary but it was super spicy and I don't think she ended up drinking it. Another friend, who is a local, recommended the eggplant sandwich. She ordered that and there was none leftover! Another friend had the meatball and ricotta pizza. He enjoyed and had leftovers to bring home! read more

The four of us shared the spaghetti with clams, sausage pizza and a Caesar salad. Everything tasted excellent and the price was very reasonable. Pretty sure the host was high though. She asked where we were from so I told her. She had a thick accent, so when I asked her where she was from, she replied "I'm from nowhere and everywhere; I'm from the world"....Yeah, real cute.
