Found this place on none other than TikTok when looking for pizza places in Key West. They came up several times, and by looking at all the videos, I knew we had to give it a go! The great thing was, is they weren't far from our hotel, and made for a convenient pick up on the way back from being out all day. I ordered the pizza online prior to driving to them, so that it could be ready by the time we got there. We were told the pizza would be 13 mins, and I think it was 10, because we arrived early, and sure enough, it was ready!!! When I opened the box, there was no way this pizza was making it out the restaurant without us eating at least 1 slice! Well, we basically sat down and had dinner in the restaurant because it was so good! The dough was delicious, you can tell it was made in house, and not some freezer to oven slice! The pepperonis were delicious! And they have of course, fresh pepper flakes and parmesan cheese for your hearts desire! We wrapped up what we couldn't and took it back to the hotel for late night snacking, and I am so glad we did! I wish we had had another pizza! Try them out! After living here for four years, we finally decided to give this place a try. The vibe when you walk in definitely has that classic New England pizza joint feel -- simple, spacious, local, and familiar. They've got some of the better prices on the island, which was a nice surprise. Just note that their XL is 16", not 18". The crust? Hands down one of the best on the island -- crisp, flavorful, and baked just right. Toppings were decent, but the cheese was a bit runny (kind of odd), and I'm pretty sure they're using a slotted spoon because it was way too light on the sauce. Maybe that's part of why they rate lower on Yelp -- not really sure. Honestly, a quick trip to NYC or Connecticut for the staff to sample true NY and Greek-style pizza could take this place from good to the best on the island. read more

I noticed slightly lower reviews than other pizzerias, but I've noticed Key West reviews shade a bit to the pretentious side. Big John's isn't going to have the latest fashionable mushroom, obscure cheese or use sustainable champagne vinegar drizzle, its likely where the locals get a decent pie. FAST. Clean, decent crowd. I got a large pie to go, had a warm slice from the box and a crisper hot slice from the oven. Good pie, could have been a bit more generous with the mushroom & peppers. Moz sticks were average, they are moz sticks. The wings were the largest I've had in over a year, huge & juicy. If you like crisper, say so at order. Blue cheese was meh. But when I buy wings I'll take these over ones with better dip. Good value, happy with my pie. read more

This was a recommendation from a local conch and boy we are sooo happy we listened to her advice! A late evening running around all day, had us ordering pizza and salad to take back to the hotel. We popped here for dinner one night while staying at the Parrot Resort because it's casual and walkable. Pizza was very good, thin crust. Way better than expected. Salads and garlic knots were also solid. Give this place a try. read more

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. I'm visiting from out of town and found this Pizzeria that delivers close to our hotel via Yelp. There was a big selection to choose from on the menu, definitely something for everyone. We used their online order link for baked ziti with added chicken, side salad and Margherita pizza. Was able to pay & tip online. It gave a 45 min estimate for delivery time which I thought was reasonable. Imagine my surprise when 20 minutes later I received a call that our driver was in the hotel lobby with our order. This place has much to recommend it. I actually like the fact that it's in new town. After a week in Old Town I welcomed the quieter atmosphere. The food is delicious and the portions are massive. It advertises as "the place where locals eat" and I can see why. That being said they are a bit on the pricey side considering there is no table service. I've been ordering pizza here for almost 2 years. Usually it's a Friday and Saturday order, but the one time I order on a Sunday and it's horrible. Big thumbs up for Big Johns, I have been coming here to Key West over 20 years and this is always one of the best places for Italian dishes and pizza. I recently ordered the lasagna that comes with garlic knots. I finished the knots before I could take a picture but they are to die for. The Lasagna was so delicious I usually try to make two meals out of but I couldn't resist so there were no left overs to be had. Atmosphere is great and service is great. Was working in Key West after hurricane Irma & just wanted something to eat after a long day. I read the many mixed reviews & decided "screw it, this place will do". After reading so many bad reviews on the service I was expecting some historically bad service, but I found it ok. Sure, they weren't super bubbly happy-happy people, but I'm also not that super friendly outgoing either. I think I might have actually been a little disappointed that it wasn't horrific service that I could write about later, lol. Service was fine as far as I'm concerned. I got a small mushroom pizza to go & while it wasn't the best pizza I've ever had, it was far from the worse. It served its purpose. My overall experience was ok. Then waited another 20 minutes to get my undercooked large pepperoni pizza from some Czech girl who dldn't give a Sh@t only to get a undercooked pizza that needed another 5 minutes in the oven. Too bad, they used to be real good, but now that the place is for sale and nobody is watching the business run down!. UPDATE: After bringing the pizza home and looking at it, there was virtually no tomatoe sauce on it, very little cheese and a flat thin crust. I would have enjoyed a frozen pizza from Publics more! We came here last night and wanted something quick and easy. Wife saw it and said let's go in. We sat and wife went to the cashier to order a meat pizza, a kids chicken tender meal and two sodas. All I can say is we enjoyed the pizza and will definitely order from here again next time in town and we're wanting a good pie ! They're also close to most of the hotels on Roosevelt, which is plus if you're staying near by. read more
