You have to slow down and look at each item individually, or you can zip right past something cool in the scanning process. But it's nice to be able to actually see and feel a product before ordering it online, so it's worth the effort. The staff was busy at the counter with other customers, so it was hard to get help that day beyond a friendly greeting. But I did find out that they have far more options available online than what is displayed there. Prices, barring a sale, range from mid to high. I didn't find anything that called out to me that day, and I didn't have time to deal with online ordering, but I'll definitely check them out in advance for future projects. No appointment necessary, and they do have weekend hours.

Trying to keep a positive outlook, I walked into the store despite wanting to flee for my life. I kept thinking it would get better as I made my way through the store. There were a few fixtures that might have been okay but mostly it was chrome chrome chrome. Just because an item has a 1k price tag doesn't mean it is good. I can say the store is clean because it would have to be with all that seizure inducing chrome. There is an elevated area in the back of the store with ceiling fans and garage sale style foldable tables upon which was junk for sale. I wish it wasn't junk but when you look at what appears to be stick on light strips, really what else can it be called? That was the entire store. Many items were priced significantly lower than big-box retailers, even with the crazy Black Friday sales going on. The reason for the low price is mostly because those appliances are open box items. Some of the items may have minor cosmetic damages such as a dent. The store run tests on them to make sure they are fully functional. Those appliances are under the manufacturer warranty, and I believe A4L also offers warranty. 2. Knowledgeable Staff: The sales associates were friendly, helpful and well-informed about the products. Michael, the store owner, helped me evaluate the pros and cons of each options and we decided on the refrigerator, washer and the dryer that are not only beautiful but also functional for my family's needs. 3. I thought I was buying a scratch and dent dryer,,,,,,I did not know it was used also. I found it on…read moreline for $448, called and talked to store said I would be there the next day at 11 am. The people were nice and it seemed to go smoothly. When I got to the store the dryer was packaged up in clear cellophane. I could see the few scratches it had,,,,everything seemed ok. I went to pay for it and they rounded up to $450, I did not say anything, no big deal. The floor help was nice and helped me load the dryer and even got me extra cardboard to protect it. I got home and removed the cellophane and to my surprise my wife said it is used! There was lent in the trap. After removing the screen there was hair and dirt on the inside. This was a used dryer, not just a scratch and dent. The price I paid was for a brand new dryer with some scratches, this dryer should have been cheaper for having been used for no telling how long. If you do business here,,,,,Caveat emptor, let the buyer beware!!!!!!

And all this after I prevented their equipment from being stolen - they left all their hand and power tools on the curb where someone was loading them into their own truck until I notified the installers. Well, I guess my update in September of 2023 was not my last for this nightmare of an experience…read morewith Hill Country Outdoor Builders. In late January of 2025 I noticed some uneven shingle lines on the opposite side of the patio roof that Tobi and his team completed. From my previous post, Tobi assured us that the opposite side of the patio roofing was done correctly which is why he refused to redo the entire shingle work and just correct the area that was falling off (as seen in the pictures). I asked a 20+ year roofing professional to assess what I noticed and he confirmed that both sides were done incorrectly. There were areas with 3 nails per shingle or less and even some shingles with no nails at all. We chose to have the entire side (opposite side from which Tobi already corrected) re-roofed; including paper underlayment. Luckily there were no signs of water damage. This correction was north of $1,000 out of our pocket. My wife and I want everyone to know that we would not recommend Hill Country Outdoor Builders for any work moving forward. We are also starting to notice some loose paver stones on the end caps of our patio floor. Do your research with this company and ask a lot of questions before moving forward.

The price was very reasonable and the customer service was magnificent. They have a large and awesome variety of tools and materials. This is definitely the place to go first for supplies if you have a project that needs doing. I've since been in for AC Compressor coil cleaner. They were less expensive than Amazon AND I was able to clean my compressor coils today. There is even lively and interesting political discourse you can participate in going on behind the counter.
