I've been here twice in the past week so I guess you could say I like it here. For drinks, Mexican martinis and margaritas are perfect, not too strong and not too sweet. For food, I wasn't crazy for the birria tacos and wouldn't get them again, but everyone else in my group had delicious plates which is why I gave it another chance. Second time around I got the al pastor mini tacos. These by far are the best al pastor tacos I've had! So juicy and flavorful. Can't wait to come back and try something new.

Well my aunt (who is almost 70) didn't see on the menu it said charro beans was an up charge, refried beans came free. So when she got her bill she was surprised to see she was charged extra for the beans. Mind you the refried beans DID come with her tacos. Why did the waitress not ask "do you want the refried that comes with it or charro for an up charge?" Instead, the waitress automatically gave her charro beans. You don't automatically give someone the upgraded version to their meal and especially not without asking which kind of beans does she want. I'm writing this update bc in my last review the waitress did the same thing by up charging my husband's meal when he didn't ask to. BEWARE here! The food is pretty decent, nothing crazy but it hits the spot if you need some decent Mexican food. However, go over your bill and clarify everything-twice! Just in case because they will try to make extra money off upgrading you without asking you.

I went for happy hour with another couple but missed it by 30 mins... our wait staff, Mason was very accommodating and attentive. My party shred an app and our sides. My husband and I shared the chicken fried steak, definitely large enough for two. we were all satisfied with the portions and food! Collectively we had: Brisket nachos- must order! Chicken fried steak x2 Creamed corn/spinach Bacon wrapped shrimp -VERY good. Has a hint of horseradish Banana pudding...you must like artificial banana flavors to enjoy this one. Brownie sundae -basic. We each had 2 drinks. The frozen old fashioneds are great! I like the etched ice cubes for non frozen cocktail. Cute little touch. The total was ~$250. Which is very reasonable for 4.

The restaurant has a lot of seating inside, at the bar, and outside. It has a really nice view of the hill country. After being seated we waited awhile and enjoyed conversation and the view. Our waiter was very busy but came over and introduced himself while apologizing and saying that he would return to take our drink order and bring menus. When he returned we ordered our waters. He eventually brought us our drinks and took our order. Despite the delay our waiter was very friendly, checked in on us regularly, and did a really good job the entire time. We decided to share a few items. We ordered the Wagyu Brisket Nachos which comes with brisket, cheese, jalapenos, refried beans, topped with pico de gallo. The nachos were tasty. The chips were thick and able to hold the ingredients. They had a little too much pico but all of the combined ingredients were good. We also shared creamed corn and spinach. This was delicious. The corn had pieces of cobbed corn and spinach spread throughout. This is one of my favorite creamed corn because of the taste and texture. My husband ordered the Texas Peach which is a handheld sandwich that comes with fried chicken, horseradish jam, pickles, and slaw. He enjoyed it. I tried it and we agreed that the chicken was the star of this dish. It was a good size with a crispy exterior and tender interior. I ordered the Whiskey Ridge Steak Burger cooked Medium which is a handheld burger that has grilled meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles. This burger was delicious. It was cooked perfectly and you could taste the grill in the meat. The other ingredients added some taste and texture. Overall Whiskey Ridge was a great place to visit. The outdoor atmosphere and scenery is beautiful. The service was great and the food was delicious.

The weather was perfect and we enjoyed the atmosphere. After waiting a few minutes our waitress came over and greeted us. She was very friendly and took care of us throughout our visit. She gave us menus and took our drink order. When she brought us our waters she took our order. To start we shared some onion rings and nachos. The onion rings were delicious. The interior onion was sweet and the exterior batter was crispy. The nachos were tasty. The chips were thick and able to hold all of the ingredients and the chicken tinga was flavorful. For our main meal my son ordered the pepperoni pizza and loved it. My husband ordered the Fried Catfish Lunch. He enjoyed it and said the catfish was soft with a crispy, and light breaded exterior. He said that the hush puppies and fries were fine. I ordered the Meat Pizza which comes with Pepperoni, Ham, Bacon, and Sausage. The pizza was yummy. I could definitely taste the pepperoni and sausage flavor and the ham was spread out in large chunks. The crust was light and airy. Overall Hays City Store was a great place to visit for lunch. The bathrooms are just spectacular here. I was greeted, seated, and waited on by a charming worker. Predictably, I ordered the Denver omelette because it's my go-to breakfast anytime it's available. It came out hot, complete, and with a beautiful presentation. The bell peppers were not as tasty as I'd hoped but the dynamite ham more than made up for it. The hash browns were okay but didn't really taste all that good. Not like the rest of the meal. The toast with butter and jam were top notch. This place knows pancakes with four all the time specialty flavors (pineapple, strawberry, cinnamon…read moreroll and banana), one specialty (currently sticky toffee) and the basic buttermilk. While they claim to be a breakfast / brunch restaurant, all of the options I saw on the menu are breakfast options (no burgers, no salads, soups, sandwiches, etc ). So if you like endless variations on eggs and some creative pancakes / French toast this place is for you. If one or more in your party want something different, they may not feel very excited with the menu. They have quite an extensive menu beyond pancakes if that's not your thing. They have a specialty bacon that I really enjoyed with a stack of strawberry pancakes. The wife went with two eggs, two bacon, hashbrowns, substituted the sticky toffee pancake for the bread options. She thoroughly enjoyed the eggs, bacon and pancake. The hashbrowns were a bit of a miss. They tried to do something unique with the potatoes and they were not the right texture, being on the mushy side of things. Service was competent and prompt. The wife had decaf coffee and while it was quite good, our server could have been more attentive in keeping her cup full. The inside decor seemed unremarkable to me. With no partitions to speak of, it was louder than most places. On the positive side, it we clean, comfortable and well maintained. Definitely a place to return to when we are in the area looking for brunch.

We were already seated at our table with my mother and children when the situation occurred. My special needs child had a caramel frappé from McDonald's, which is her preferred drink and one of the only things she consumes, as she does not eat by mouth. Our server had already greeted us and taken our drink orders without raising any concerns. Shortly after, another employee approached us and stated that outside drinks were not allowed. I calmly explained my child's medical needs and that the rest of us were planning to order food. Despite this, the employee brought over a manager, who repeated the policy without any willingness to listen or show understanding. We were then told we could not stay and were effectively asked to leave. While I understand that businesses have policies, the complete lack of compassion, flexibility, and basic customer care in this situation was unacceptable. This was not a case of bringing in outside food for convenience--this was about accommodating a child with special needs while the rest of the family intended to dine and pay as customers. Being asked to leave under these circumstances was both embarrassing and upsetting. Based on this experience, I will not be returning. I hope management seriously reflects on how situations like this are handled in the future, because no family should be treated this way. I'm pretty sure they won't reflect on this situation seeing as how the manager was all too happy about kicking us out, he literally showed absolutely no compassion or care at all.
