awful service and atmosphere. They won't even give you a warning but send a random fat dude who's not even the bouncer to leave?

You walk in and immediately know you are not in some polished Instagram cocktail lounge. It is loud, a little gritty, and full of people who are clearly there to have a good time and not pretend otherwise. The beer is cold, the Lone Star flows like Texas water, and the vibe is pure old school Austin. And yes, the legendary bathroom situation deserves its own paragraph. The men's room features a giant ice filled trough for a urinal, which feels like something out of a 1970s roadside saloon documentary. Somehow it is both ridiculous and perfectly on brand. It actually becomes a conversation starter because you walk out laughing and immediately tell your friends they have to see it and go pee. The crowd was friendly, the bartenders were quick with the beers, and nobody was taking themselves too seriously. I ended up staying longer than planned, drinking Lone Stars and talking to random people like we had known each other for years. If you want craft cocktails served with a rosemary sprig this is not your place. If you want a hilarious, slightly chaotic, authentically divey night in Austin with cheap beer and great stories, Dirty Bill's absolutely delivers. Five stars and I would go back in a heartbeat.

They were spinning some popular tunes. The place was packed with a very fun crowd. It appears to be a bar you come to have drinks and chat. There was a small area where dancing could take place, but no one was dancing at the time. The staff including the general manager was super friendly. It felt like a wedding reception as you came into the club where you were greeted...very warm and welcoming. We had a drink and stayed a short while. It looked like a place you could come for a girls or guys night out or celebrating a fun occasion. Will definitely consider Dirty Bill's for a future fun evening...

Morrissey hadn't graced San Antonio in over 10 years, with past cancellations and postponements haunting fans along the way. So when he finally returned, San Antonio Moz fans showed up and showed out. Despite multiple after-party options across the city, fans from Brazil, the UK, Canada, Japan, and all across the U.S. chose Bang Bang Bar as the place to be on a cold Saturday night. Hosted by local emcee Ricardo Moz and Apollo DJ, the night turned into one for the history books. Bang Bang Bar is easily one of Texas' best dive-lounge bars...the perfect blend of gritty and cozy. Great cocktail program, solid beer selection, and a vibe that just works. The décor leans heavy into a 1950s-60s lounge aesthetic, with intimate spaces like the Blue Room and Yellow Room, perfect for groups of 7-10. Low lighting, warm atmosphere, and zero pretension exactly what you want for a night like this. Bang Bang Bar consistently supports local and touring acts, spanning punk, alternative, and DJ-driven nights, and this Moz Smiths Disco was no exception. It was wall-to-wall classics all night long. Major credit to Phanie and the Bang Bang Bar management they rolled up their sleeves, brought in extra bar staff, and handled an overwhelming crowd like pros. Fans waited up to 45 minutes in the cold, with a line wrapping around the building, and the energy inside never dipped. As the host of Panic On The Streets, I'm incredibly thankful to Bang Bang Bar for helping us pull off one of the best after-parties we've done in years. Fittingly, 2026 marks the 10-year anniversary of both Bang Bang Bar and Panic On The Streets of San Antonio and what a way to celebrate. Bang Bang Bar has long been one of my favorite bars in town, and after this night, that reputation is more than earned. Can't wait to do another Moz Smiths Disco here. -- Panic On The Streets of San Antonio

They were happy to answer my questions and I was never made to feel rushed. The bar itself has an awesome vibe. It's divey but offer fancy drinks. The bar has a stage (we've seen FEA perform there) and they have ample seating (tables, couches, stools, etc). I also enjoy how each couch area is its own living room setup (think of what you see when shopping for couches/coffee tables) and feel/vibe. I make it a point to come and visit this bar any time I'm in San Antonio. We love supporting Phanie and her bands in any way possible. Girl in a Coma and FEA 4ever!

When I was invited out to a pool hall in San Marcos, of which I'm not very well versed I immediately did a little research utilizing things like... ahem Yelp. So, after I was told to meet at Cats Billiards I immediately wanted to know more. The pictures didn't exactly inspire confidence as I thought it was in a horrible section of town. Google maps dispelled that notion however not much else installed confidence. Driving up was relatively easy on a blissful Saturday and it was in a decent part of town. Moreover, parking was a snap as I was able to get a spot right in front of the joint. The outside seemed pretty cool as I thought to myself, nostalgic. I opened the door and immediately sang the song "it's in the way that you use it" by Eric Clapton from the movie The Color of Money. The first thing that hit me was the stench of mold, beer and to be determined. I walked up to the bar to get a rack of balls and a cocktail, both of which were cheap. The bartender was pleasant enough and I proceeded to get the table furthest away from the front. Walking under half inserted, water-stained ceiling tiles with filth hanging on them thinking one could drop at any second. I got to my table which had seen much better days. The pockets were duct taped on, the carpet was full of dust and warped. I racked the balls and proceeded to practice before my friend arrived. At least the sticks are plentiful and straight. Being in the corner meant some rail shots weren't easy as the bar behind them was to close as though I was playing pool in Frank Costanza's house from Seinfeld. I noticed the music playing in the background was horrible as it sounded like the sound track from an adult film. This was more the patron's fault but having those options available is as Jeff Foxworthy would say "There's your sign." Some of the people were very sketchy. I try not to be judgmental but situationally aware at all times. Needless to say, I had an uneasy feeling so I limited my alcohol consumption and kept my eyes peeled. I did have a glass of water but never once did I want to even attempt to find out what atrocities waited in the bathroom. I try to find the good in everything so I'll say the parking is easy, the pool sticks are straight and the drinks cheap. Now the bad, this is not a date friendly, family friendly or allergy friendly place. I won't be back and offer my words of caution to anyone wanting to visit. Find other options to play pool.
