Although BR is a great place for Mediterranean cuisine, I think the Chicken Shawarma sandwich is better than the rest (Serops, Albasha, Zorba's which are other great places too) and Chicken Shawarma plate is good as well (like Albasha for this). I come to BR 3 times a year and I always make sure to eat here 2-3 times..... they have the best Greek and Lebanese food I have ever had. Just tried a gyro sandwich from here with a busy work day that didn't allow me to do much than pick it up and have some in the truck on the way back to work. The food itself was alright but way overpriced. I'm figuring the person who took the order, seemed like a manager, knew it was my first and possibly last time. Most of the meat was dry and the fries were dark brown, basically burnt. The hospitality was just awful. While paying for my pick up, the waitress starts complaining about her other customers. The man didn't even ask if I needed anything else like a beverage, he just asked for my money immediately. The food was ready pretty quickly, so if you need to get something quickly that you will feel "eh" after eating and don't mind paying these ridiculous prices... Roman's Cafe is your spot. read more

The food is great, but I will never go again; the reason is that I was overcharged $3.40 on a Chicken Shawarma meal; my bill should have been $7.70 and I was charged $11.10; the waiter contested it and made me feel stupid; I challenged it, but I don't think the owner was there and did not want to make a scene; I have a witness that I was correct; a few months ago I just had coffee and my friend had a meal; I got a second cup and was charged for 2 cups; they said that was the rule; ridiculous; I will NEVER go back; I went there today, 09/09/17 in the afternoon; I will dispute it on Monday on my credit card; it is not a lot of money, but it is wrong and I was made to feel like a fool read more

First off, BEST PITA BREAD EVER! Everything I have ever had was amazing. The steak kabobs are second to none. Today I got the chicken shawarma feta salad and it was perfectly prepared, not too much dressing and loaded with chicken. The service was very fast and friendly. The Lebanese tea is not too sweet as it seems to be everywhere else. Did I mention how good the bread is?! Toasted and not microwaved... I'm a foodie and I highly recommend trying them out if you haven't yet. I'm willing to bet you will love it as much as we do. read more

Wait staff excellent. Kept pita bread basket and tea glasses full. Very attentive. House salads had fresh, cold lettuce w/tomatoes and nice house dressing. I had the Gyro plate with baba and rice palif. Gyro was hot and juicy and well seasoned just like I like it...and nice size serving (had to take some home). The baba was good but could have had more eggplant. The pilaf had excellent flavor for rice. Wife had Grilled Fish with hummus and rice pilaf.Fish had excellent flavor, was moist and good size. Was able to take some home. Both too full to try desserts. Both had to get "boxes" and were graciously offered extra pita bread and full cups of Leb Tea to go (can't turn that down). My co worker friend and I have been going to this location at least once a week for years in Hammond Aire Shopping Center. Our orders are to-go phone orders that we pick up during our lunch hour. As of recent we have noticed that the itemized receipts are listing "liquor fee" in the amount of 10 cents, they are charging an additional $1 for the greek pita, not to mention the lunch menu charges have increased as well. During last weeks visit, I questioned the "liquor fee" and he said he didnt know how that ended up there, not offering to remove it, but that he didnt know how it got there. After paying for our lunch, the 10 cent liquor fee and the $1 greek pita charge, we get to the office, to find that we did not have the greek pita that we paid extra for. When we arrived today to pick up our lunches, we reviewed our receipt and mentioned to him that we did not get the greek pita that we paid extra for the previous week. He pretended not to hear us. We also questioned the 10 cent "liquor fee" that was on this days receipt and mentioned that it was also on last weeks receipt. Only after we asked that it be removed, did he agree to remove it. When I asked for a .5 oz cup for the oil, vinegar, and seasoning mix to go with my $1 piece of greek pita, I was told that there is an additional $1 charge for that as well, because the cups are expensive. I told him never mind then. I want to mention that we were not offered an itemized receipt this time for our order after the cards were charged. We did however receive the receipt showing the credit card charges. I think that this location is just a bunch of crap. I get it that prices have increased, but when dining in at this restaurant, you do not get charged for greek pita and you do not get charged for the oil/vinegar/seasoning mix, which by the way is placed on each of the tables for your consumption with the pita bread. My friend and I have decided that this may be our last time visiting this location, Will go back to Government Street and see how that goes. I will keep everyone posted, in the mean time, be cautious of the charges on your receipts. read more

My first time ordering and eating from here. I went by the star rating, and way. I order the gyro plate, hommus, and House ice tea. I didn't get my drink, and I had the chicken plate. Wasn't happy when I got to work, and saw this. But it does smell delicious, I'll just be trying something new tonight . read more

I can't believe the amount of UNPROFESSIONALISM I just encountered. I'll NEVER give Roman's Cafe' my business again! The food is good, a few of their menu items I would say are better than the same item at a different restaurants. Infact the 1 star in giving is only based on the food. I've been eating at Roman's cafe' for many years and usually don't have any issues. Infact in the past I've found the managers I've encountered to be pretty nice. Unfortunately today when I called in a order my total didn't sound right. Since waitr usually has a continually updated menu I looked on there to get prices for the items I had ordered, and I was right, my before tax total was $6 more than the waitr menu showed. When I called back to get a explanation for the discrepancy the man on the phone was very rude. He told me that I must have a old menu and that the prices had changed, but he couldn't tell me when the prices changed. I told him I used the waitr menu and asked if they update their waitr menu; no response. So I asked how much one of my specific plates cost on the menu and was told it's $16. I told him on the waitr menu it's $13. He told me my total wasn't changing. So I asked to speak to a manager. His next response was to hang up on me..this WANT TO BE adult man hung up on me!! I'm so angry! Not only do I feel cheated and scammed but then the insult of hanging up on me when I've been a loyal long time customer! I feel embarrassed for the owners of Roman's that they have this man employed. Needless to say I will not be back EVER. I'll drive the extra distance to Serops or Albasha any day, and so will my large Lebanese family. They prefer Serops anyway. read more

The food was great but the service was awful. I had lunch there with my mom and aunt. This was their first time at the restaurant and I was embarrassed at how poor the service was today. Our waitress informed us that she was new and we were fine with that. The manager came to our table to let us know that the waitress had our order wrong after we had been waiting for at least 20 minutes. When our food finally arrived I was surprised to see that I only received a salad with my gyro pizza. I asked the manager about the side of grilled veggies I ordered and he said that the pizza only comes with a salad. I then told him that on the menu it said it came with a salad and another side item. So he went to get the menu in order to prove me wrong. The pizza was listed under the "Sandwich" category. The menu said that all sandwiches came with a salad and a side item. The manger told me that I had a pizza and not a sandwich. This is where I got annoyed. I know that pizza is different from a sandwich, but it was listed under the Sandwich category. I told the manager that having pizza listed under the sandwich category is deceptive to customers ordering the item. I even suggested that they modify the menu so that it's not misleading to customers.He said that no one has ever misunderstood it. He was not apologetic and was very rude. He walked off and never came back to our table. The waitress never came back to our table after she took our orders. We had to ask another waitress for to go boxes and to get out check. Our waitress walked by our table several times without checking on us. She brought our check and did not even communicate with us. I don't place all the blame on the waitress since she is new. However, the manager needs to do a better job at ensuring the servers are properly trained. He also needs to work on talking to his customers in a more positive tone. read more

This Roman's location always has consistently EXCELLENT food. I especially enjoy their chicken shawarma salads which have a nice variety good, fresh vegetables. This is my favorite Lebanese food in BR. They bring pitas for you to dip in vinegar & oil before your meal. The gyros & schwarma are excellent. There is a kid gyros meal that comes with fries to kids happy! And the kids can color on the paper on the table while waiting to be served. So much flavor! Love it! read more
