Worth the trip out to Ridgewood! The steak was the best I've had all year. Also ordered the lasagna, scallop crudo, polenta bread and the branzino. Everything was priced really well. Was super surprised by the scallop crudo. Sweet and acidic. Service was quick. Scott was pretty helpful. Ambiance was packed on a Monday night. Definitely one of the best wine bar-esque restaurants in the city
Returned for dinner after a few years and it's still 5 stars for me. This time, I tried: + Calabrian chili butter polenta bread + Leafy green and herb salad + Rigatoni + Lasagne verde bolognese + Pork tbone + Rhubarb almond tart + Black Forest ice cream cake Top highlights were the lasagne and pork. Salad, rigatoni and desserts were also great. Can skip the bread.
This is just a short update to my other reviews regarding my most recent brunch visit. I was here for brunch a while back and had an opportunity to try their excellent $20 Double Cheeseburger, which comes with grilled onions, dijonnaise, and pickled long hot. This was worth the hype and easily the best thing here. The burger was very juicy, the cheese and dijonnaise added a slightly sour twang, and the grilled onions added a touch of sweetness. The pickled long hot on the side was a fun idea to add a bit of spice and extra sourness when needed, and reminded me of how they serve similar peppers with the rich pitas at the various locations of Miznon. Would recommend heavily, and if you want a side of fries, order the $12 'war style' which comes with a delicious mix of peanut sauce and kewpie mayo. The only thing missing from the brunch menu is some of the dips for their polenta bread If I had to recommend something here, it would be brunch. I still don't think most of the dishes are worth it, and this is especially true for the mains, so stick with appetizers and burgers.
We went for an early reservation and got to taste one of the burgers, between the group of us but wished we had ordered two! However they only have a limited amount each night. All the food was great, portion sizes arent very big so between four people you can definitely order a few dishes. The lasagne was incredible and the chili bread, basically anything from the huge pizza oven! Staff were nice. The restaurant filled up really quickly which made it noisy and waiting for the restroom a bit of an effort.
A solid meal, though I think it may be overhyped. The famed lasagna was good but I wouldn't make the trek to ridgewood for it. My personal favorite was the pork chop and leek. Fried green tomato with tuna tartare: the mayo overpowered the tuna but complemented the tomato. Polenta bread was not memorable and not worth the price.
Maybe I was starving, maybe it had just been a long day, or maybe it really was the best meal I've had in quite some time. We ordered the Polenta Bread w/olive oil and sea salt, the spring pea salad, the famed two sheet lasagna and the pork chop w/leeks. The polenta bread reminded me of a moister, chewier and softer pizza dough. The spring pea salad was fresh, crunchy, fragrant and refreshing. The lasagna was everything you'd hope it to be and the pork chop is a standout! They also top everything with maldon sea salt so I was a happpppy girl. Service is also amazing, our server was kind and all of the bussers were incredibly observant. 12/10 would recommend, the vibes are immaculate.
I dined here with another Yelp Elite on the evening of 1/24/26. We started off our meal with a pair of cocktails, made by the talented bartender Diondre'. I had a Zombie, which was made of three different rums. My dining partner had a Cosmopolitan. Neither drink was potent. We ordered the Calabrian Chili Butter Wood-Fired Polenta Bread (2/5 stars), Two Sheet Lasagna Verde Bolognese (5/5 stars), Crispy Potatoes "War Style" (3/5 stars), Double Cheeseburger (4/5 stars), Brown Butter Apple Tarte with Whipped Crème Fraîche (2/5 stars), Salted Caramel Chocolate Mousse (3/5 stars) and the Burnt Cinnamon Ice Cream (5/5 stars). My recommendation is to get the lasagna. It was my favorite entrée because it was sweet, salty, creamy and earthy--easily one of the best lasagnas that I have ever had. Do try the burnt cinnamon ice cream because it is incredibly rich, umami and creamy. Multiple waiters served us, and Hannah was my favorite. IMHO, she was the most hospitable. The vibe was cozy, and there was a constant atmosphere of loud music and dining partners enjoying their food and drink.
1/24/26. Dre was an awesome bartender, offering suggestions! He was so personable, unlike our hostess, Alex!! The cocktails were good but far from strong. The chili polenta bread was light and fluffy, good, not amazing. We got there early just to get the burger, which was flavorful but also greasy. The lasagna verde was better, so creamy. It would have been perfect if it was served hot, and had more filling/meat sauce spread evenly. Sauce was just placed in the center and too much oil was drizzled on top. Their fries were awesome, had great texture, but did not like the war sauces at all. For dessert, the cinnamon ice cream was the star by far. I wasn't a fan of their bestseller, the apple pie tart. Maybe it would've been better if it was served warm or had more apples. Didn't like it. The mousse was average/basic. Service was cold and could have def been better. Based on all the hype, I was expected to be blown away with the food and service. Sadly, I was not with either.
A cute and cozy brunch spot right on the Queens/Brooklyn border. The burger was easily our favorite -- the bread was fresh and soft, the patties were well seasoned, and the caramelized onions were actually caramelized (you know how rare that is). Don't sleep on the polenta bread either -- it had this amazing mochi-like texture, kind of like a pizza without toppings, which sounds weird but just works. For dessert, we went with the passion fruit crème caramel and the flavor was spot on, though we wouldn't have said no to a bigger portion. The staff were attentive and genuinely friendly throughout. Solid brunch spot worth the trip!
Put my name down on a weekend for two, and got seated in about 30 minutes - we definitely got lucky! Food: We tried the olive oil and flaky salt polenta bread, and I thought it was good but nothing out of the ordinary (tasted a bit like fluffy pizza crust). We did however love the malfadine fennel pasta and famous two sheet lasagna! Service: Our service didn't feel like anything special, and our final receipt was completely messed up so overall not necessarily a stellar experience. Vibe: I really appreciate the ambiance and decor, but the music was a bit too loud.
Finally made it here early on a Saturday. The place was bumpin! I was able to snag a seat at the bar and the bartenders were both absolute gems! I love the welcoming vibes and decor here. I hated that the bar seats have no back but we have bigger things to worry about. They gladly took my coat to the office although there isn't a coat check, lol thanks! I got a spicy pineapple margarita. It was good but not a life changing cocktail. Then I ordered THE burger. Yes, it's worth the hype. It's more of a smash burger type patties. Seasoned wonderfully & not too much crap on top. My one issue is the bun...I wish it was tad more dense to hold up to the burger. Not sure if this makes sense? Without a doubt goes in my top 10 burgers in NYC. I also ordered the lasagna because I needed to make the trip worth it. I liked it but I rather old school lasagna! Sorry but $32 for that and I barely had meat...I don't know it wasn't the 2 sheets of deliciousness I was anticipating. I do think it's worth trying once! I can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu and burger again. I was too stuffed for dessert but I'll be back for that too.
Made it to Rolo's finally. The space feel very warm and inviting. The 2 Sheet Lasagna lived up the hype!! War Style Potato was delicious, but I'd do the sauce on the side to keep my potato ultra crispy. Calabrian Chili Polenta bread - I'm still dreaming about this! Probably my favorite dish. Pesto Malfaldine was pretty good, the pollen flavor was quite unexpected. Def worth a try!
We arrived at 4:30 to sip cocktails at the bar while waiting for a table when their dinner service opened up. For food, we got the double cheeseburger with bacon, Calabrian chili bread, pickled carrots, two sheet lasagna, and wagyu steak. I loved the lasagna - that was my favorite dish by far. Also the pickled carrots. I will say that the meat on the burger and in the steak was on the salty side. I thought the bacon would be thick cut on the burger but it was just regular bacon lol. The burger was still fantastic. My friend enjoyed the steak but i thought it was too chewy and also only somehow got medium-to-medium well pieces even though she was eating medium rare. The last thing I'll say is that the music was turned up quite loud so it's a bit hard to hear conversation.
My friends were adamant on trying this spot and hyped up the spot and I was quite excited to try it out. Now that I've had it, I can happily say that I have added it to my list to return to! I had organized a birthday surprise for my friends and the staff were wonderful and so kind in the way they handled it. I had 2 cakes as there were 2 birthdays and they were so kind to help store it and even time it properly so that our friends would be surprised. We had several items to share including the snap pea salad, calabrian chili butter on wood fried polenta, two sheet lasagna verde bolognese, wagyu beef skirt steak, and cheesy potato croquettes. My favorite dishes were the snap pea salad and their lasagna. The salad was so full of flavors and interesting textures that all balanced each other out. I would return for just the salad. The lasagna was also really unique and I wish there was more of it because I found myself eating it constantly. We also tried some of their drinks which were really quite yummy. I thought the polenta bread and croquette was alright, they are not items I'd get again. Their cheeseburger is also quite famous I had heard but unfortunately, they had sold out right before I arrived. The staff were just wonderful and I can't thank them enough for their hospitality. I can't wait to return to try their cheeseburger and have more of their snap pea salad! read more
All the food was pretty delicious. Everything was fresh and well cooked. i liked that the menu is basic but slightly unique. I wouldn't come out of my way to come here again but i really enjoyed the meal. The lasagna was the best thing here! The service was really slow and it took over an hour for our food to come out but it was busy. Also, the music was piercingly loud which made it hard to have conversation read more
Finally got a res and was soo excited - this has been on my list for a while. Casual and cool when you walk in - groups and people on dates. Service was great - waiter was attentive and helpful but not overbearing. Not one bad bite the entire night. From the polenta bread to the steak special and everything in between was delicious. If you want a burger you need to be there early (for the seating you've booked). We ordered 2 burgers in our group, and saw a couple nearby that were told they were sold out. Delish and can't wait to return. read more
There are special places you will remember; places that offer extraordinary service, food, ambience, and connection. Rolo's is that place and now has earned a spot on my top ten restaurants to dine at. First off, Ridgewood has a gem of a restaurant; the kind that is down the block from your house and feels as if it is an extension of your home. Second, it's located in a tree lined, quiet street as if it's a wonderful discovery as you visit Ridgewood. The restaurant has three rooms: the first, holds a beautiful cocktail bar and cozy booth and bar seating. The second room hosts the wood fire grill where the magic happens. The third room has a fireplace and wooden beams on its ceiling. The menu is eclectic and that means even the finickiest diner will find something delicious: chickpeas in Tahini sauce, double cheeseburger ( the house special, order ahead when you make the reservation), two sheet lasagna verde, salads and delicious pastas. Here is what I feasted on happily! -Polenta Bread with sesame and wild oregano. Every bite was delicious and smothered with sesame, olive oil and oregano. It's a small meal in itself. It tasted like Naan bread; great to rip with your hands and dip into a sauce. The crust was crackly and fluffy which I loved. There are other varieties of the bread; Calabrian chili and butter for one. - Leafy green and herbed salad with lemon dressing: this salad is the original salad from day one of Rolo's opening. It is light and lemony and scrumptious. The portion is quite generous and filling. -Spaghetti with Jonah crab and summer squash and chili flakes: I devoured it; the crab and squash were perfect together in a light butter sauce. Perfect late summer dish! - Chocolate Malt ice cream: Rolo's homemade ice cream. Chocolatey, velvety and I wish I could taste the malt. The texture is creamy and dreamy. The other desserts consist of salted caramel chocolate mousse, Affogato and strawberry almond tart -Cocktails: there are very nice options.. I was in the mood for Sauvignon Blanc which they didn't offer but my server recommended the Aligote which was exceptional and has a crisp, dry fruity texture. It was a perfect accompaniment with my pasta dish. -Service: Alex, my server, is exceptional and his recommendations were spot on. The entire staff from the welcome desk to all the servers were terrific -Ambience: Rustic, casual even the music playing was perfect. As I try to be more adventurous with my dining options, it is a pleasure to step out of my Brooklyn neighborhood and explore the beauty of Ridgewood, Queens. Rolo's is one discovery you have to make! Rolo's is located on 8-35 Onderdonk Avenue Ridgewood, Queens Okay Brooklynites here's how you schlep: First R train to 36th Street then catch D to Broadway Lafayette then catch the Middle Village bound M from Broadway Lafayette to Forest Avenue then 6 minute walk to Rolo's. Believe it or not, took me one hour. It's well worth it! read more
I finally made the trek to Rolo's! We made a 5PM reservation so that there wasn't a chance that they'd be out of the burger. The inside is quite spacious with a couple of little tables outside as well. For an appetizer, we got the cheesy potato croquettes. It's like a cheesy mashed potato wrapped in a crispy breading. They were really good! For mains, we shared the burger and lasagna. This burger is one of the best burgers we've had in the city. For a double cheeseburger, it was surprisingly light. The pepper on the side added a nice acidity with a little kick of spice at the end. I would come back just for this! The lasagna was honestly just ok. The tops of it were more burnt and crispy than I would have liked, but my boyfriend didn't mind. It's definitely the most unique looking lasagna I've ever had though! We didn't end up getting any desserts because nothing really appealed to us. The burger is definitely the star of the show here! It's worth coming early for. read more
Rolo's is a neighborhood bar & grill that just happens to be Michelin-approved (casual flex). We rolled in with a party of 10 for dinner and learned that big groups = family-style, pre-fixe menu. No complaints here. Marissa at our table deserves a standing ovation for curating the "ya, ya, ya bitches" menu . Here's how it went down: Wood-Fired Polenta Bread with Calabrian butter, stracciatella cheese, silk chili & cured sumac - Watching the chefs make these nonstop in the open kitchen was mesmerizing. Served warm, fluffy, and fresh every bite just melts you. Leafy Greens & Herb Salad - Light, crisp, and so herbaceous it feels like spring on a plate. I legit started googling how to recreate this at home. Grilled Salt & Pepper Head-On Shrimp - Bold, perfectly seasoned, and yes, I ate the head and everything. Flavor bomb. Two-Sheet Lasagna Verde Bolognese - Meat tucked between delicate pasta layers. I only snuck a bite but wow, creamy and rich. Double Cheeseburger - Didn't try this one, but judging by the way my friends were fighting over it... safe to say it slapped. Wood-Fired Whole Trout Almondine - My favorite of the night. Tender, nutty, smoky.. I'm telling you.. just order it!!! A must-try if you're a fish lover. Grilled Greens & Crispy Potatoes - Good sides, but let's be real, the headliners stole the show. Special shoutout to our server Bernard--helpful, patient, and always checking in on our big, chatty table without ever rushing us. He made the night flow effortlessly. Rolo's is truly something special. Now I understand why people happily trek an hour across town.. it's unpretentious, cozy, and seriously excellent. Whether you're local or just feel like exploring, add Rolo's to your list. You'll leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit. read more

Pork T-Bone. That's all. The whole five stars goes to that alone. We ordered this off a recommendation and it's on my top dishes I've ever had. Months later and I'm still thinking about how good this was. The apple cider glaze elevates the dish so much. The rigatoni was okay. I would skip and try something else the next time I'm in. The wood-fired bread with calabrian chili butter had the perfect amount of spice. Paired perfectly with their prosciutto. MAKE A RES! They can get super busy so make a res to be on the safe side. Downside that it is Ridgewood and parking is horrendous. read more
Food we ordered: - Calabrian chili pepper polenta bread - Fries with three types of condiments (not pictured) - Grilled Branzino - Two sheet lasagna verde - Some clam pasta - Apple pie type dessert Food was good, nothing felt super exceptional except the polenta bread. I was looking forward to the burger so was a bit sad that they said they ran out of burgers right as we ordered even though our reservation was pretty early. Although I did see a large table of people eating burgers as I was leaving although they came in after us, I'm not sure if you are able to request to reserve the burgers. Service: Service was attentive and friendly. read more
Delicious meals that lived up to the hype and high expectations!! Started off with the calabrian chili butter polenta bread. You really can't go wrong with warm bread, but I loved how you could taste the grain flavors without the graininess. It was also super chewy; still had its bread form but just shy of a mochi. The spice and butter made it even better! We also got the special cauliflower with tahini. I very much enjoyed the grilled cauliflower with the smokiness and char. Tahini was super seasame-y with a generous mix of herbs that helped cut the richness of typical tahini sauces. It definitely had some component of sweet vs citrus taste that made the dish super balanced and well executed. For mains, we had to check out the lasagna ourselves after hearing about it all over social media. I'm not a huge tomato person so I was nervous at first but I really appreciated how it was more bechamel forward. The pasta was very nicely cooked - just enough for you to cut through but still retained a nice chew! The ricotta cavatelli was SO soft and I absolutely loved the prominent black pepper flavors with a hint of sweet corn. The wagyu steak was tender, well seasoned already. The addition of green butter added another layer of herbacious flavors. For desserts, the salted caramel chocolate mousse had an intense dark cocoa taste with a strong caramel flavor. The texture interestingly was a little "sticker" than your regular mousse but still smooth. For drinks, I wasn't the biggest fan but my partner enjoyed their concord cosmo and apple highball, which had a strong absinthe bitterness to it. Staff were very friendly and efficient! It was so cool sitting next to the kitchen and brick oven and see them put their dishes together. Loved the cozy, intimate setting with the dim lighting. I can't wait to come back for another special meal! read more
Fab restaurant. The bread was fantastic- a must try. We had the pepper shrimp to start, which were juicy and flavorful after being charred. For mains the swordfish, pork and crispy potatoes war-style. The swordfish was one of the best I've had, tender and moist (hate that word, but it was). The peppers served with it were a perfect accompaniment. I enjoyed the potatoes, but they weren't the star of the show. Didn't try the pork, but my partner enjoyed it. Lovely cocktails, including some nice non-alcoholic options, and very attentive staff. The only downsides, it's not cheap and it's really loud inside. Would return. read more
Came for dinner early January and the burger was so good we came back last night. The burger really is that good to make a trek into Ridgewood. I've tried the Wagyu Skirt Steak (4/5- delicious and perfectly cooked), obviously the Double Cheeseburger (5/5- seasoned to perfection, for the price wish it came with fries), Hamachi Crudo (4/5- I prefer more citrus forward crudo but the dressing is unique), and the Pork T-Bone (5/5- close second to my favorite dish here. No words. Just order). Surprisingly, my least favorite dish has been the Lasagna (2/5). It's definitely interesting but it was just meh. The sauce is kind of all gathered on one side and was served lukewarm. Just not a fan of this one but everything else is really really good. read more

Stopped into Rolo's yesterday with my partner for lunch. It was busy for a Sunday afternoon, which wasn't a surprise. The interior is spacious and simply decorated with beautiful plants and wood. Every server we encountered and the hosts were polite and friendly. We waited about 2 minutes for a table. Aside from the macchiato and the lattes we had, which we found to be incredibly bitter, everything else was fabulous! The French toast with cinnamon butter was delicious and indulgent. The war potatoes were my favorite and I will make a point to have them regularly - Thai peanut sauce and lime leaf - super spicy and rich flavors. I also tried the salted caramel mousse, which was creamy and satisfying. read more

Rolos was so fire bro the burger was insanely good and we were lucky enough to get the literal last one of the day. Came for a late brunch and also got the french toast and a couple other items. The grilled snow peas with feta were to die for and the french toast was fantastic. We did not have a reservation and were able to dine from the full menu at the bar. Def coming back read more

Order: - Double Cheeseburger (5/5) - Crispy Potatoes "War Style" (4/5) Pros: - Great tasting burger and the sauce that comes with the war style fries is unique - Very good and quick service - Nice ambiance and ton of seats Cons: - A bit pricey. $18 for a burger and it doesn't come with fries - Difficult to get a reservation. We got lucky with a reservation for brunch randomly but you probably have a good chance getting a seat as a walk in during brunch versus dinner Overall: Rolo's burger is well known for a reason. Looking forward to dining here for dinner one day. read more
Walked in at 545pm on a Monday and myself and my date were about to get a seat at the bar. A table would be an hour wait for two. Sitting at the bar was comfortable and spacious. Got the burger which apparently sells out often. The burger is $20, i would say it's worth it. Very filling and no need for additional sauces. I also got the potatoes with war sauce. Which i would highly recommend. Bartender was ok. read more
Radio Bakery is our favorite bakery, and we had to check out the restaurant that the owner used to be the pastry chef of. Walking in, it's a beautiful restaurant with an open concept kitchen, so you can see the chefs plating and cooking in front of you. Known for their cocktails, we ordered the spicy pineapple margarita (with green chartreuse float) and flower power sour - refreshing and well-balanced 10/10. We started with the Wood-Fired Polenta Bread with Calabrian Chili Butter. It paired perfectly with the stracciatella cheese, which was recommended by our server. Entrees were the highlight of our meal - we shared the two-sheet lasagna verde bolognese, and house dry-aged rib-eye (which has limited quantities daily). Everything was cooked perfectly on their wood-fired grill, with perfect char on all their items. The sides are good complements. The crispy potatoes "war-style" (spicy peanut sauce and Kewpie mayo) have an acquired and addictive taste, but I would probably get the regular fries next time. And the grilled pea greens were a much-needed side for the heavier items. Finally, we ended with a great meal with their bread pudding special. Can't wait to return and try their burgers before they sell out! read more
We made a reservation for 4 at 5pm. There was already a crowd forming, and some were walk-ins it seemed. The service was incredible here, a balanced mix of fine dining (cleaning tables, changing plates) and casual friendliness (telling prices for specials, unpretentious). We ordered: - potato croquettes: I wish it came out hot, but the taste was good. Cheesy mashed potatoes made into croquettes it seemed. - watermelon salad: the combination of flavors here were great, we were drinking the juices afterwards. Some additives like pistachios and such could have helped with some texture variation though. - lasagna verde: this was decent and interesting, and don't regret ordering it but don't have to order again either. We did wish there was more sauce between the layers especially in the outside bits. - skirt steak: the flavor was good from the wood firing but it was very chewy. I like my steak medium rare but perhaps this could have cooked a little more? I thought the garlic butter was rather tasteless. - the cheeseburger really looked up to the hype though. We shared this 4 ways and I could have definitely enjoyed this all to myself. The roasted (pickled?) pepper was smoky and added well to the burger. - Peach crisp: seasonal dessert which was piping hot, which I appreciate. I could always use more ice cream, but this was a good dessert. The merlot blend and rose were decent, and the flightless bird is on the sweet side but tasty. Overall, the burger was the best thing and I'd come back for the burger and try other things. read more

Nice looking restaurant. Clean premises and lots of staff. The service is incredibly slow and the food is underwhelming at best. I was unimpressed with the flavorless calabrian polenta bread. Was it soft yes? Did it have any flavor no. The cheesy potato croquettes were ok. The pastas we had cavatelli corn pepper pasta it had a lot of pepper and a lot of cheese but again underwhelming. We also had the crab spaghetti in butter sauce which was probably the best dish of the night but will not be coming here again. read more

Cozy restaurant with good food and nice vibe. My favorite dish was the special of the day, polenta bread with ricotta, taleggio, and truffle - SO good! I also enjoyed the spicy lobster pasta, as well as the war fries and the lasagna. It's a cute place but damn, closing at 11pm on a Saturday really left me wanting more. I will def be back, as I heard the brunch is good and I'd love to try their burger. read more

Food 9/10 Made a trip all the way to Ridgewood to try this very popular place. Everything was quite solid, but I'm still not 100% sure about all the hype. That sesame bread was my favorite part of the meal. It makes perfect sense that they own Radio Bakery. The pork T-Bone was also very flavorful, the slightly sweet sauce topped off the tender juiciness of the meat. I never was a fan of lasagna, but I guess their take was quite cool. The burger was phenomenal, and I'm so glad we got the snag the very last one. The branzino was slightly too salty, but I liked the mushrooms on top! Atmosphere 8/10 Very dimly lit interior. It was quite loud inside, but there are plenty of tables and it was quite spacious. Went here for girls dinner, and it's a chic spot for a mid-size gathering. Just need to commit to the trek out. Service 9/10 Great service, super friendly staff all around. read more

The food was delicious. The cuisine was very random which made for the opportunity to try a lot of different items on the menu. The food was flavorful and came out very quickly. The service was great the server was very sweet and knowledgeable about the menu. Everybody in the restaurant was happy and eating and drinking. The place is small and the tables and chairs are small also. Overall a great experience, very hard to get a reservation. This place is great for a weekday night or Sunday! read more

Unexpectedly got to try Rolo's this weekend and I was not disappointed. The spicy pineapple margarita was the best cocktail I have ever had. The calabrian chili polenta bread is a must try in my opinion and the ricotta cavetelli was creamy and delicious. Overall, I enjoyed my meal however my dining companion? Not so much. He ordered the 2 layer lasagna and said that it was quite dry since there was only really sauce in the middle. The restaurant itself is also extremely loud since there is an open kitchen and I felt like i was losing my voice by the end of dinner. read more

I'm typically not a huge fan of New American food but if I had to pick a spot for this cuisine it would 100% be Rolo's. I've been here twice now and I'm still obsessed with the burger and lasagna - those are absolute must gets. When I celebrated my birthday here last month I luckily grabbed the very last burger since our server was on top of it and asked the second we sat down which was soo appreciated. The polenta bread is also fire. If Ridgewood wasn't so hard to get to I'd be here way more often. read more
Had a late 9:30pm reservation on a Sunday at Rolo's, but I was able to stop in earlier and was able to get seated, which was nice! Ordered: - Leafy greens & herb salad ($15) - Grilled honeynut squash, muhammara, pickled aji dulce ($18) - Ricotta ravioli, orange zest, black pepper ($25) - Two sheet lasagna verde bolognese ($32) - Wagyu skirt steak ($48) Everything was delicious, especially the Two sheet lasagna. Doesn't sound like much but it was just right! And the skirt steak was cooked perfectly. Highly suggest! Great cozy restaurant, definitely will be back! read more
I have been trying to snag a reservation at Rolo's for the longest! The food overall was unmemorable and underwhelming. I regret not getting the lasagna as many people have raved about it. I The best dish of my meal was the polenta... Stracciatella was a bit sour & our dry aged ribeye was cooked a bit beyond what we requested. We requested Medium Rare, the steak came out to be more like Medium. We tried to finish the steak within 20 mins, as we got out steak a little past 10pm (9:15 arrival), however my partner and I noticed that the steak was gotten cold well before 10 mins of the arrival. The service was quite awkward. My server was either just awkward or didn't really care to be there. There was a noticeable gap from when we finished our appetizer to when the entree came out. Since they have an open kitchen concept, we were able to see the process of how the food was prepped. While waiting for our entree, we saw that our crispy potato was ready much before the steak and was just sitting in the pass. I wish I had better things to say, but I don't. read more
This place is more like 3.5 stars. Overall beautiful restaurant space. Open kitchen with light wood interior--very pleasant setting to have a meal I had a resy for 4 people at 5pm. Got seated once arriving to restaurant. Started with the watermelon salad and grilled head on shrimp. The watermelon salad was refreshing but savory at the same time as it came dressed with olive oil and cheese. The grilled head on shrimp was simple and tasty. For the entrees, we shared the burger, trout and two-sheet lasagna. Also had the "war style" crispy potatoes. Overall everything was so salty it was a little overbearing. The burger was cooked well done and therefore was dry. Wish there was more caramelized onion in the burger otherwise the sauce was so overpowering and salty--the burger was ok. The two sheet lasagna was ok as well. Nothing memorable. The trout was the best dish. I accidentally spilled water on it while drinking about 3 jugs of water due to saltiness of meal and I think it helped water down the saltiness. Got to appreciate the natural taste of the fish topped with some sweet corn and almonds for texture. Was a nice grilled fish. read more
