Worth the trip out to Ridgewood! The steak was the best I've had all year. Also ordered the lasagna, scallop crudo, polenta bread and the branzino. Everything was priced really well. Was super surprised by the scallop crudo. Sweet and acidic. Service was quick. Scott was pretty helpful. Ambiance was packed on a Monday night. Definitely one of the best wine bar-esque restaurants in the city
Returned for dinner after a few years and it's still 5 stars for me. This time, I tried: + Calabrian chili butter polenta bread + Leafy green and herb salad + Rigatoni + Lasagne verde bolognese + Pork tbone + Rhubarb almond tart + Black Forest ice cream cake Top highlights were the lasagne and pork. Salad, rigatoni and desserts were also great. Can skip the bread.
This is just a short update to my other reviews regarding my most recent brunch visit. I was here for brunch a while back and had an opportunity to try their excellent $20 Double Cheeseburger, which comes with grilled onions, dijonnaise, and pickled long hot. This was worth the hype and easily the best thing here. The burger was very juicy, the cheese and dijonnaise added a slightly sour twang, and the grilled onions added a touch of sweetness. The pickled long hot on the side was a fun idea to add a bit of spice and extra sourness when needed, and reminded me of how they serve similar peppers with the rich pitas at the various locations of Miznon. Would recommend heavily, and if you want a side of fries, order the $12 'war style' which comes with a delicious mix of peanut sauce and kewpie mayo. The only thing missing from the brunch menu is some of the dips for their polenta bread If I had to recommend something here, it would be brunch. I still don't think most of the dishes are worth it, and this is especially true for the mains, so stick with appetizers and burgers.
We went for an early reservation and got to taste one of the burgers, between the group of us but wished we had ordered two! However they only have a limited amount each night. All the food was great, portion sizes arent very big so between four people you can definitely order a few dishes. The lasagne was incredible and the chili bread, basically anything from the huge pizza oven! Staff were nice. The restaurant filled up really quickly which made it noisy and waiting for the restroom a bit of an effort.
A solid meal, though I think it may be overhyped. The famed lasagna was good but I wouldn't make the trek to ridgewood for it. My personal favorite was the pork chop and leek. Fried green tomato with tuna tartare: the mayo overpowered the tuna but complemented the tomato. Polenta bread was not memorable and not worth the price.
Maybe I was starving, maybe it had just been a long day, or maybe it really was the best meal I've had in quite some time. We ordered the Polenta Bread w/olive oil and sea salt, the spring pea salad, the famed two sheet lasagna and the pork chop w/leeks. The polenta bread reminded me of a moister, chewier and softer pizza dough. The spring pea salad was fresh, crunchy, fragrant and refreshing. The lasagna was everything you'd hope it to be and the pork chop is a standout! They also top everything with maldon sea salt so I was a happpppy girl. Service is also amazing, our server was kind and all of the bussers were incredibly observant. 12/10 would recommend, the vibes are immaculate.
I dined here with another Yelp Elite on the evening of 1/24/26. We started off our meal with a pair of cocktails, made by the talented bartender Diondre'. I had a Zombie, which was made of three different rums. My dining partner had a Cosmopolitan. Neither drink was potent. We ordered the Calabrian Chili Butter Wood-Fired Polenta Bread (2/5 stars), Two Sheet Lasagna Verde Bolognese (5/5 stars), Crispy Potatoes "War Style" (3/5 stars), Double Cheeseburger (4/5 stars), Brown Butter Apple Tarte with Whipped Crème Fraîche (2/5 stars), Salted Caramel Chocolate Mousse (3/5 stars) and the Burnt Cinnamon Ice Cream (5/5 stars). My recommendation is to get the lasagna. It was my favorite entrée because it was sweet, salty, creamy and earthy--easily one of the best lasagnas that I have ever had. Do try the burnt cinnamon ice cream because it is incredibly rich, umami and creamy. Multiple waiters served us, and Hannah was my favorite. IMHO, she was the most hospitable. The vibe was cozy, and there was a constant atmosphere of loud music and dining partners enjoying their food and drink.
1/24/26. Dre was an awesome bartender, offering suggestions! He was so personable, unlike our hostess, Alex!! The cocktails were good but far from strong. The chili polenta bread was light and fluffy, good, not amazing. We got there early just to get the burger, which was flavorful but also greasy. The lasagna verde was better, so creamy. It would have been perfect if it was served hot, and had more filling/meat sauce spread evenly. Sauce was just placed in the center and too much oil was drizzled on top. Their fries were awesome, had great texture, but did not like the war sauces at all. For dessert, the cinnamon ice cream was the star by far. I wasn't a fan of their bestseller, the apple pie tart. Maybe it would've been better if it was served warm or had more apples. Didn't like it. The mousse was average/basic. Service was cold and could have def been better. Based on all the hype, I was expected to be blown away with the food and service. Sadly, I was not with either.
A cute and cozy brunch spot right on the Queens/Brooklyn border. The burger was easily our favorite -- the bread was fresh and soft, the patties were well seasoned, and the caramelized onions were actually caramelized (you know how rare that is). Don't sleep on the polenta bread either -- it had this amazing mochi-like texture, kind of like a pizza without toppings, which sounds weird but just works. For dessert, we went with the passion fruit crème caramel and the flavor was spot on, though we wouldn't have said no to a bigger portion. The staff were attentive and genuinely friendly throughout. Solid brunch spot worth the trip!
Put my name down on a weekend for two, and got seated in about 30 minutes - we definitely got lucky! Food: We tried the olive oil and flaky salt polenta bread, and I thought it was good but nothing out of the ordinary (tasted a bit like fluffy pizza crust). We did however love the malfadine fennel pasta and famous two sheet lasagna! Service: Our service didn't feel like anything special, and our final receipt was completely messed up so overall not necessarily a stellar experience. Vibe: I really appreciate the ambiance and decor, but the music was a bit too loud.
Finally made it here early on a Saturday. The place was bumpin! I was able to snag a seat at the bar and the bartenders were both absolute gems! I love the welcoming vibes and decor here. I hated that the bar seats have no back but we have bigger things to worry about. They gladly took my coat to the office although there isn't a coat check, lol thanks! I got a spicy pineapple margarita. It was good but not a life changing cocktail. Then I ordered THE burger. Yes, it's worth the hype. It's more of a smash burger type patties. Seasoned wonderfully & not too much crap on top. My one issue is the bun...I wish it was tad more dense to hold up to the burger. Not sure if this makes sense? Without a doubt goes in my top 10 burgers in NYC. I also ordered the lasagna because I needed to make the trip worth it. I liked it but I rather old school lasagna! Sorry but $32 for that and I barely had meat...I don't know it wasn't the 2 sheets of deliciousness I was anticipating. I do think it's worth trying once! I can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu and burger again. I was too stuffed for dessert but I'll be back for that too.
Made it to Rolo's finally. The space feel very warm and inviting. The 2 Sheet Lasagna lived up the hype!! War Style Potato was delicious, but I'd do the sauce on the side to keep my potato ultra crispy. Calabrian Chili Polenta bread - I'm still dreaming about this! Probably my favorite dish. Pesto Malfaldine was pretty good, the pollen flavor was quite unexpected. Def worth a try!
We arrived at 4:30 to sip cocktails at the bar while waiting for a table when their dinner service opened up. For food, we got the double cheeseburger with bacon, Calabrian chili bread, pickled carrots, two sheet lasagna, and wagyu steak. I loved the lasagna - that was my favorite dish by far. Also the pickled carrots. I will say that the meat on the burger and in the steak was on the salty side. I thought the bacon would be thick cut on the burger but it was just regular bacon lol. The burger was still fantastic. My friend enjoyed the steak but i thought it was too chewy and also only somehow got medium-to-medium well pieces even though she was eating medium rare. The last thing I'll say is that the music was turned up quite loud so it's a bit hard to hear conversation.
Finally! Made it to Rolo's Ridgewood. An impressive corner and those wood burning ovens are incredible!!!! Very friendly service. Ate: Pickles carrots $6 Jonah crab salad $22 Wood fired chicken $22 The pickled carrots are $$ and the Jonah crab with slivered pickled carrots was flavor bomb of complexity! The chicken was deboned which it should have said on menu or noted by server and served with Fresno chilies. Weird not bad but not mind blowing! These days to leave Manhattan where the culinary standard is super high my palate needs extreme rocking. Rolo's rocked mine somewhat, I skipped dessert this time after that chicken. read more

I've been eagerly anticipating a visit to Rolo's ever since I saw their featurette on Eater. Today, after a long day at work and a nearly hour-long drive from Long Island, I finally had the chance to make the trip. I won't sugarcoat it- the parking situation was a nightmare and navigating through the narrow Jacky Robinson Parkway and local streets left me more than a little frustrated. However, those annoyances faded into insignificance the moment I sank my teeth into that gloriously greasy burger nestled in that heavenly bun. Burger Nirvana! Sitting at the bar I found myself in company with a fellow burger enthusiast who had the same exact order. We both received our meals almost simultaneously and although I've always considered myself a speedy eater, I couldn't help but notice she devoured her meal even faster than I did. I don't want to make assumptions but I have a strong suspicion that she too really enjoyed the burger. It was a Tuesday and the place was jam-packed, so they're definitely doing something right. read more

Love the ambiance here. Come early if you want to secure any of the hot menu items- burger, ribeye, crudo. Service was really attentive and everyone is helping each other. I really enjoyed the polenta bread with chili butter and brown butter tart. Lasagna was good but very inconsistent depending on what part of it you were eating. Pieces that had no filling tasted like nothing then pieces that were burnt were inedible. The pieces that had filling and weren't burnt tasted great with lots of flavor. Aside from the lasagna I d really like to come back here to try brunch . Cocktails were also great lots of good options. read more
From the moment we stepped inside to when we left, it was deserving of five stars. Our waiter, Steven S, was spectacular. He was very detailed on the entire menu, and he gave me a tasting of three wines because I couldn't decide on a wine. His service was impeccable. Rather, the entire restaurant was on point with their service. Their food was great, too. We were told that the lasagna is on another level and that we must try it. The waiter was going on and on about it, so we got it and wasn't disappointed. I could've done without the strawberry passion fruit punsch cocktail drink, but that was my mistake. Tried the classic lemonade that had no alcohol in it was better. The Polenta bread with wild oregano and sesame was great, too. I've never had anything like it before. We asked if the wagyu steak or the tbone pork was recommended. The waiter said to get the pork as it would go great with the lasagna. Boy, was he right about that. On the side, I got the Crispy potatoes "war style." The seasoning or sauce on top of the potatoes was acidic based, and it comes for a slight kick at the end. Last but not least, we decided on the Rhubarb Almond Tart, and It wasn't my favorite dessert or dish in the place. Everything else was great, and I would like to go back to try other items off their menu. read more

Visited our son in NYC this weekend and he made reservations at Rolo's. Modern but classy ambiance with upbeat service. Stephanie was very attentive and took care of us. We ordered the chicken, the fish and the war style crispy fries with the spicy peanut sauce. The fish was my sons and husbands favorite but I loved the chicken. Can't go wrong with anything you try here. Topped it off with sweet cream and sorbet. read more

Our friends just moved to the neighborhood and they shared Rolo's is one of the best restaurants they tried recently. The decor of both indoor & outdoor dining seating is cozy and wide-spaced. The options on the menu are pretty limited and the staff suggested to order 2 dishes per person. We had their Leafy Greens, Crispy Potato, Steak and Daily Special Kielbasa to share. The food was overall delicious, especially the Steak, which was well-grilled and tender with proper portion & price. However, we won't recommend the Kielbasa, which was sausage stuffed with Wagyu Beef because it was too salty & a little dry inside for us. We also have Pavlova as our dessert, which looked pretty and the taste was really delicate & light. We will definitely try again for their brunch Menu next time when we visit our friends in the near future. read more
Rolo's is an amazing addition to the Ridgewood community. Vibe is great and perfect for date nights. The service was super attentive and all staff were nice and friendly. We ordered: - Watermelon Salad - Calabrian Chili Butter Polenta Bread - Double Cheese Burger - Crispy Potatoes - Brown Butter Blueberry Tart I really enjoyed their watermelon salad and the polenta bread. It was such a nice way to start our meal. The watermelon salad was super refreshing, yet savory and the basil added a very nice flavor to every bite. The polenta bread was super warm and soft, with great flavor. Definitely my top two of the night. For my main I had their double cheeseburger. I wasn't a huge fan of it, mine was overly salted and I couldn't enjoy it so I would give this a 3/5. We topped off the night with their brown buttered blueberry tart which was amazing!!!! I thoroughly enjoyed every bite of this! All in all, I enjoyed my dining experience at Rolo's and I can't wait to come back! read more

I've been to Rolo's twice now: for a date night dinner and a weekend brunch with friends, and both times were absolutely spectacular! I've had the Double Cheeseburger both times, and this burger is one of the best (if not the best) in the city; it's complex in flavor and so tender and that it melts in your mouth. For the rest of brunch, my friends and I shared the Leafy Greens and Herb Salad and the Crispy Potatoes (both repeat orders for me, both great), and one of them had the Poached Eggs with Tomato Sauce on Polenta Bread and the other had Fried Chicken & Waffles. Both got thumbs up ratings. There are a lot of cocktails options but I recommend the Spicy Pineapple Margarita for a daytime drink! read more
LOVE LOVE when a place lives up to the hype!!! Read the reviews so our party was schooled on how to order- Snagging the reservation on Resy was the first step - 5:30 was perfect last night - bustling but not too crazy so I think that allowed us to enjoy a wonderful meal... As soon as we seated, we put 2 burgers on hold, while we decided on the rest of our meal. We ordered the chili butter polenta + the special one with goat cheese and honey (should've had this one for dessert!) pure rich decadence! Ended up ordering the 2 burgers- no regrets!!! perfectly cooked, right amount of meat and flavored with a rich smokiness... even the flexitarian in our party declared it a good burger! The waygu skirt steak medium-rare was perfect with the garlic butter was so soft and full of flavor... the two sheet lasagna was a delight to eat ---once you got closer to the middle where all the creamy good stuff was hiding out (a tad more filling would have hit the spot) - it was soooo rich - a real treat with every bite! We also enjoyed some refreshing homemade lemonade, limeade and a spicy pineapple margarita- I highly recommend an early visit ps- Our server Steven was knowledgeable and engaging- Cozy neighborhood vibe & super clean bathrooms-- A+ thank you for a wonderful dining experience!!! read more
I love this place but I went to get some focaccias today and they had a grip of fruit flies all over their cookies and brownies. I waved my hand and like 12 scattered about. Then I did it again in front of the barista (completely NOT his fault) to show him. Like I'm not even sure why I still ended up buying the focaccias, it was revolting to see and that image will forever be seared into my mind. And I go there like once a week. I don't know, a baked goods cover or something yeah? Isn't that fairly standard. But if you're getting the sweets, take a close look. (I'll remove this post once I come back and see it's been fixed.) read more
Came back to again (a couple of days later) because I had to have the hamachi crudo again! Lol and I also did try the double cheese burger, it is limited so you do have to get there earlier. Last time I came they were already out of it by 7:30. The burger was delicious just like everything else on the menu! Love this place. read more

Another outstanding visit here, this time for brunch with a party of four. We got all three polenta breads, the sticky bun, mortadella, stracciatella, the Szechuan cabbage, two orders of chicken and waffles, two cheeseburgers, the war-style potatoes, and literally all four ice cream flavors. This was more food than we needed, but everything was excellent, and I'd get all of it again. My wife really loved her burger, and I thought the chicken & waffles were really great, albeit very heavy (obviously). The cabbage was probably the most controversial dish we got -- I loved it, but nobody else enjoyed the extreme mala flavor on them. Of the ice cream flavors, chocolate and vanilla were our favorites. (The honey pistachio was more honey than pistachio, and I'd have preferred the reverse.) read more

EVERYTHING HERE IS PHENOMENAL! First I love the open kitchen format and everything inside looks super clean and well diners well lit, paper menus, cute bar. My only sadness is they change everything over for dinner and you can't order a meatball parm hero. Outside dining also available. Our waitress was Lebanese and so helpful at putting our meal together by recommendation. We fell in love with her accent as she explained the dishes and I'm convinced she could sell me anything. The sheet lasagna and the polenta chili bread stand out the most. The kielbasa is really really delicious and their red sauce has a great kick to it. We ran up the bill pretty quickly with their yummy alcoholic beverages too. Will definitely come back! Update - I came back 10 days later because I couldn't live without knowing what this meatball parm was about. It is the best thing I've ever had. This meatball parm is the end all to any of meatball parms that have and will ever exist. And of course I left with a pint of burnt cinnamon ice cream. WOW. Just a warning, after it softened over the car ride home I was hard pressed not to finish the whole thing from start to finish! read more

I'll be raving about this meal for months. Go to Rolo's with friends who want to try as many things as possible and who don't mind sharing, because you're going to want to order everything on the menu. Personal favs were the steak, Calabrian palenta, green beans and spaghetti. Immaculate vibes. Hot staff. Bangin food. Creative cocktails. Five stars. read more

Been to Rolo's so many times now and have had nothing but amazing experiences. Have had the pleasure of getting great service from the entire staff including Josh, Tyler and Shaq to name a few. Came here for my birthday, Father's Day and Rolo's has become my go to restaurant for anyone I want to impress with a great meal. Salt and Pepper head on shrimp is my sleeper favorite, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu and the cocktails are amazing. The Spicy pineapple margarita is unreal too! It's a cozy restaurant with good vibes and the best staff, you really can't ask for more. They do all of the fundamentals right and everyone cares which really shows. read more
What an incredible experience. Came here with my buddy and loved the vibe of this place the second we walked in. The hostess and our waiter were awesome and very friendly. We started with the radicchio caesar salad which was excellent. The radicchio was nice and crunchy and was delicious with the caesar sauce on top. We then decided to try their burger which was FULL OF FLAVOR. Easily - one of the best burgers I have ever had in my entire life. For dessert - the affogato is a must! read more

(NOTE: This is a review I began back on 11/3/2022) I don't know how to add to the hundred-plus previous reviews already posted but not having read any of them, here goes: We unfortunately didn't try coming here back when it was a small take-out storefront & part-time cafe in 2020 (?) so when we saw the website and came in person, we were floored by how it tripled in size & transformed into a full-blown restaurant - and a super-crowded one, too. In fact, when my husband and I arrived, we were told that indoor seating was going to be a 30-45 min wait so we sat outdoors in a heated hut. It has a communal table in it where you can be seated a group of up to 8 (! Very spacious & nice ambiance & VERY warm!) or you share the space with another couple. Another couple was already seated there and were extremely nice & friendly & were regulars from the neighborhood and RAVED about this restaurant & eagerly asked us what we were ordering & agreed with our choice (the wood fire roasted chicken & the lasagne - which is also wood-fired (!) They also urged us to try their homemade ice cream & "fudgy chocolate cake". The chicken and desserts were the caliber of a $50-75 per entree restaurant (the chocolate was to DIE for! And the cherry sauce it came with was like the kind that is used in a homemade sour cherry pie) ! The lasagne was very unique, you'll see when it arrives and yes is made with fresh pasta. Of COURSE we are coming back - Must try brunch, right??? Note: We were so hungry that we forgot to take photos of our dinner (XD), only the wood fired bread and the desserts! read more

I stopped by for a nightcap a few months ago and was drawn in by the dimly lit bar and excellent cocktails. I've returned tonight for dinner and couldn't not have been more impressed. Food was sprinting out the kitchen. Tasted delicious. Calabrian chili butter bread is a must. Steven S was an amazing host with great wine recommendations and anecdotes - honestly just seemed happy to be there. Made our night! read more

Came to this place twice- once during the week and got the sticky bun, which was beyond excellent. So soft and sticky and chewy and damn delicious. Best sticky bun in the world! It's only offered during the week and before dinner (5pm). Wow is all I have to say. I also got a chocolate chip cookie and it was delicious- esp with the sea salt on top! So...since those sweet things were good AND I saw a video on YouTube about them, we decided to come back and try them for dinner. We didn't have a reservation but came right at 5pm on a Sunday, which is when they open for dinner and we were seated right away. Josh was our server and he was on point with all of his recommendations! He also was a fabulous server. We got the chili spiced polenta bread and it was so dang good that we ordered the oregano bread and it was just as delicious! We also got the pickled carrots- which were so unique and great! The orange juice flavor on it was nice with the coriander! Yum yum yum! The chickpeas were also a good addition but I could probably do without them. The war time crispy potatoes were so crispy and had a little bit of heat to the damn good burger that is a must try!!! They run out of their burgers so try to get one if you can. It had such a smoky taste, coupled with carmelized onions. A simple amazing tasting burger with a bomb ass pickled pepper on the side. Eat the pepper. It's so good! Don't skip over it! Spicy and tangy. The pasta was soooo good. The creamy sauce inside surprised me on how flavorful it was. The crispy edges were also so tasty too. Now- the rhubarb special dessert was a true delicacy. It had some crispy and light cookie-wafer things on top that were so good with the rhubarb and strawberry sorbet and vanilla mousse. So freakin good. If I had another belly, I woulda ordered more because everything was on point. Will definitely be back to try their steaks and other wood fired entrees. Great job Rolos! You rock and have some of the best food in Queens! read more

a warm Ample atmosphere and a menu that celebrates American cuisine infused with Mediterranean influences. Their focaccia is a standout, with its deliciously soft texture and flavor. The two-sheet lasagna verde is also a must-try. Additionally, the cocktails at Rolo's are noteworthy. read more
A new spot serving sandwiches, prepared food, pastries and groceries, they were cleaned out of everything quickly today when they opened. I did get to try the Meatball Parm from a friend that ordered, which was great, but actually the Monster Cookie and Brownie I was able to get (the only things left in the afternoon), were exceptionally good. They make me want to return for more, especially the focaccia and for sandwiches, the Porchetta sounds great. read more
