While staying in point arena this past weekend my husband and I had dinner here. I've been for breakfast (that Monkey Omelet is a must have) but this was my first time for dinner. We were not disappointed. They are offering a lovely space for outdoor dining with heaters during this covid mess and the food was delicious! The baked Ziti is what we had. When you're the only game in town, I guess you can afford to be this bad. We both asked for coffee and water, water was never brought. Coffee was pretty bad. Food was so bland that no amount of salt and pepper could help it out. The toast was alright, but it's pretty hard to mess up toast. Wife asks for Tabasco sauce, "sure one sec," it never showed up. No eye contact, no follow up, no service of any kind. We overheard the head waitress tell the new girl, this is how to hand back their change, so they just take the bill off the top and you'll get a bigger tip. And don't even get me started on how overpriced the entire menu is. $$$ But, like I said, when you're the only game in town I guess you can do what you want. Went in for lunch today and was very impressed by how fresh and tasty everything was. Started with the fried pickles; the crust was simply perfect, very crispy, a perfect complement to the tart pickles. I had the veggie sandwich with fries, my wife had the fried prawns. Both were excellent and, again, very fresh and well made. This is a perfect place for good, fresh, classic American food. Really enjoyed our meals. read more

Went ab picking in point arena on a low tide. What an adventure this was alone, but after waking up at 2.30 am, driving up the cost and getting in point arena at 5 am, suiting up and walking through the cold morning and divining till 10 am, we'll this place was HEAVEN! Stopped for lunch while on a work trip and Had the Ortega Pepperjack Burger and it was good but I must say the older lady maybe the owner was rude rude rude. I wouldn't return solely because of service. She actually made faces and was kind of mean to my co worker and I and I'm not sure why. I still left a good tip since the other waitress was pleasant. Staying at the point arena resort and this is the nearest place to eat. Not many choices for dining out within 30mins of the resort (or further out!). We had omelettes and they were really good. The omelettes were light and fluffy with fillings versus meat/veggies being cooked in the egg. The hash browns were nice and crunchy on the outside and soft potato on the inside. We had takeout and ate on the cabin porch. They are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays and close at 2pm on Wednesday and Thursday but open slightly later on Friday and Saturday. I've eaten in 5 star restaurants all the way from the Hawaiian Islands to the Cayman Islands in the Caribbean, and I have never had Hollandaise Sauce as good as this chefs. I kid you not, it literally redefined my bar of excellence regarding flavor. Light, soft, delicately creamy, with just a touch of lemon. Not overpowering but just as smooth as silk. Oh and the guy can poach an egg to perfection and don't even get me started on the crunchiest, best tasting hash browns ever!!! Last cafe before Hawaii, this little family owned diner has great breakfasts and charm. The walls are filled with paintings of he area done by the owner. Staff are friendly. Coffee good and hot. We tried a few things. All were good and nice portions. Really liked the crab cake breakfast which was spicy and well prepared. They also are open for dinner on Friday and Saturday night. I had no idea what to expect at this humble little restaurant just outside of Point Arena...but it totally knocked my socks off. The service was friendly and warm, the sandwiches were rich with flavor, and the salads were farmers market fresh. We enjoyed their fish tacos, turkey BLT, and their outdoor patio. There's some other very nice, even fancy, restaurants in town, but if you want a delicious well-curated and quality meal, you can easily just hang out at this lovely Cafe for all three meals, and not be disappointed! read more

My wife and I rely on Yelp to lead us to the best dining in the area. This place had a good rating, albiet inconsistent reviews. Well, here goes another review - but it won't be a good one. The cafe had about 6-8 diners scattered about and another 8-10 at a table in the rear. The waitress (who we later discovered was also the owner) gave us a heads up that our order may be delayed because of the table in the back. Well, her warning proved to be true. After a long delay, our food arrived - 2 fish and chips orders. The fish was fine - hot and tasted like 2-day old cod. The chips, which covered the entire bottom of the plate, were not so great. They were cold (except for the fries that were warmed up under the hot fish), and tasted like fries cooked 2 days ago and forgotten under a heat lamp. The slaw was OK. Overall, I could not recommend the fish and chips read more

We came in through the back of the cafe, as there were no signs to go to the front. We weren't greeted, we were just told a little rudely that if we went to the front of the cafe (5 steps away mind you), that we would be seated. Their specials were eggs Benedict, all varieties and they looked delicious. We sat down and I ordered a milkshake, as they had several different milkshakes on their menu and they said they were out of ice cream. At this point, it was 1140 and my step dad asked if he could order lunch and they said not for 20 more minutes. I tried to order eggs Benedict and they said they were out of Benedict. They said we could wait until lunch. What they should have done to increase customer satisfaction, is offered us lunch 20 minutes early since they were out of everything, but instead told us we had to wait. We paid $7.25 for our canned sodas and left. The food looked great, but I suggest getting there early enough so they don't run out of food, don't expect anyone to look happy they are getting your business and don't be disappointed if they are out of food or drinks. read more

Was driving up the coast and got hungry, so we stopped at this very unassuming, hole in the wall type of place for a quick bite. What a surprise it was! We ordered the fish taco and the burger. The fish taco was as good as any that I had tasted in baja mexico, and the burger was mad tasty too. Apparently they use beef from their own ranch. This is a family-run place and service was very friendly. Really an awesome place to eat. I wish there were more places like these - great food, and run by honest, down to earth folks. read more

IMHO fries should be freshly fried. I had asked for fresh local fish and was told that the cod is delivered twice a week. I should have known better. 5 small pieces of fish, loads of fries, $14.00. Ouch! If the server had asked how we liked the food we would have honestly said "not good". I think she didn't ask because she already knew what we would have said. For the same $14 the fish tacos at Trillium Cafe in Mendocino were far superior, earning Trillium a well-deserved 5 star rating. read more

We rolled in there on 24 August with 7 Harley's and 12 people. It was nice weather, which was good because their inside space was full, but their was plenty of space outside. They jumped to putting our "banquet" table together. Service was great and attentive. Food for a small place was universally well received by our hungry group. Fish tacos, chicken pesto sandwich, burgers of various constructions, clam chowder, fish and chips all hit the table and were consumed to the final crumbs. We got the specials: dungeness crab eggs benny and also the corned beef hash. This place has all the character you want in a little roadside cafe. Service was friendly but rather slow. (We probably waited about 45 minutes for our entrees.) Frickles were the highlight of the meal; perfectly fried in a light, crispy batter and nicely seasoned. Our two burgers were *very* over-cooked, and we didn't want to wait for new ones, but our bill was fairly discounted to compensate. Apparently there's a new chef...maybe just needs a little time. Still a tad pricey for sandwiches and it took a while for them to come out of the kitchen, but it was a MUCH better experience than last time.
