This is a casual sushi and protein bowl/plate for an affordable price that is hard to come by in this current economy. That I will commend for that as I noticed most of the customers are college students and possibly those with tight living budgets. This is a takeout only place as they cleared out all the tables and chairs away. Because this was our first time here, we had some questions about the menu and wanted to clarify if we were able to choose certain fish or if it was a set menu. When it was our turn to order, we asked the cashier, who I think is part of the family business. She was so annoyed at us for asking if we were able to choose what sushi we wanted in a plate. Here's the thing. The menu is not clear about this. If this is a set menu with no modifications allowed, then it needs to be mentioned on the sign. They should really update the menu board to make it clear. Don't get angry at the customers because of the vague menu sign you have. I almost regretted coming here. We waited a long time for our food to be ready as there were also people doing takeouts as well. Something I noticed was that people were opening their containers to put sauces. As seen from the photo, they are self serve. I saw the same cashier lady getting annoyed at someone for asking sauce cups, and there's even a sign there you cannot use water cups as sauce cup. I've never seen a place like this before, in a bad way. We came back home to eat our food and honestly, I was ready to write a 1 star review of this place. Sushi itself was actually not bad for the price. Salad was decent, but Miso soup was so bad, it was pretty much brown colored water. For the price for what it comes for, it's pretty good. When I went today on a Thursday afternoon the place was packed with a line almost out the door and I see why. I don't know how the meat plates are but someone in my group who had the beef plate said it was just ok. I typically order in the evening and it takes 20-30 minutes for my order. I like the Crunch roll far more, it's yummy and so cheap! I tried the hand rolls for the first time: california hand roll was amazing --so delish, nice and cold/fresh and so cheap! I like it better the salmon but they were both alright - both came with avocado! I also got the 8 pc salmon sashimi: now it's definitely not the freshest fish, but it's still good and satisfies the craving. I have been getting teriyaki from Roll & Grill for years. There is no better deal in the area that I'm aware of for a good size, great tasting teriyaki. Even these days when everything is expensive, their combo chicken and beef teriyaki plate is just under $9 when most other places are charging $12 to $15 or more. The chicken has a great grilled flavor and the portion size of meat, rice, and salad is good. You can also request veggies instead of rice or half and half. I always add sriracha on top of the meat after pouring on the teriyaki sauce to kick it up a notch. I have never tried the sushi here, but the prices on that are also very good. They used to have some tables inside but they are really geared more towards takeout. When I was just there, most of the chairs were stacked on top of the tables in front. There might be one or two two-seater tables in the back. Since they are usually pretty busy in the evening, I usually try to call in my order before heading over to minimize the wait. read more

THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE, UNORGANIZED AND SO RUDE TO THE CUSTOMERS. I had to wait over 45 minutes to get my takeout order because they are so UNORGANIZED, some customers ordered later but got their food first, while some customers had to wait for 45 minutes to get our food. After waited for more than 30 minutes, I came to ask if my order was ready but the front older lady (probably the owner) was so rude and said it's not ready and I have to wait. Seeing her attitude, I asked for a refund because I have to leave, but she said "No, you have to wait, we don't do refund." So I had to wait some more and watched many other customers that came after me got their food and left. During the 45 minutes waiting for my takeout, I witnessed many other scenarios, such as another customer was called to pick up his food but he said he ordered 2 items, 1 item was ready a long time ago and just sat at the counter while they prepared his 2nd item, so he said he his food was already cold, he wanted fresh hot food for both of his order but the lady at the counter (probably the owner) refused to do anything for him and was so rude to him. They way the lady spoke sounded like she was screaming at her customers. Then another customer came to the counter to ask when will her food be ready cuz she had to go back to work but the 2 ladies at the counter told the customer "just wait, we don't know, you just have to wait." There was another customer called in to order but the item wasn't available and the customer was asking question but old lady pretended she couldn't hear and hung up the phone. The phone rang again that customer called back, the old lady picked up the phone and said "hello, hello, I can't hear you" then she hung up the phone again. Then the 2 ladies at the counter started laughing and talking to each other in their native language. All the customers waited at the shop saw what she did. This is a takeout place, chairs are set up to sit and wait for takeout order only, not for dine in, but their service was super slow. For the food, it's was cold. They don't give any sauce, you have to buy the sauce. A lot of customers walked away unhappy with no sauce for their sushi rolls.
