We have been going to Richardsons for over 25 years. It is always fantastic. We will go to Rokerj for special occasions and it has always been great until last night. Everyone's meal in our party was super disappointing. It was also expensive. Filets were under cookers. Potatoes were over cooked. Prime rib, and I quote, had the consistency of a catchers mit. Crab and hollandaise were cold. No one has gotten sick thankfully. Service was ok, felt like they were annoyed to be there. For 600 dollars for six people, we all expected more. Next time, just going to Richardsons. read more

Service was great! Fast and friendly. Cool setting for a restaurant, coming down those stairs and ending up in a cozy carve-like area. All our food was good, from the garlic app to our entrees. I had the schnitzel and is was as good or better than schnitzel I had in Germany. Everyone else loved their food too. Giant portions. Wait time was way to long not only to be asked what we like to drink, but it took at least for the waiter to return to our table, at least 10 mins before I entered the kitchen to where I was not addressed by staff, one guy spoke no English, pointed to me where the bathroom was. Tried to explain to him I wanted the waiter so I could order my breakfast. Another 5 mins passed before the waiter showed up. The food arrived was not the best, the hash browns on my friends dish was burnt and hard. Long story short, I do not recommend this place to any one. Poor service read more

If you like "meh" Mexican food in the dark, come eat here! The good: -There's not much to say about the restaurant, but I had a good time here because of the people and time. -The onion rings were good, but not "famous" good. The bad: -$10 charge for sharing a dish is just outrageous. If you're not set on a dish, just pay the charge and save yourself from paying $20 for rice and beans. -It's pretty dark inside, so bring a flash light. -Parking, vallet only, it appears, but this is far from a fancy establishment. It's a crazy expectation when there's tons of spaces and self parking is easier. Carne Adovada and NM enchiladas are below expectations. We sat at the bar last night, two couples. Ordered cocktails, noticed a fly floating in my wife's vodka cranberry. Pretty gross. Our food took quite awhile to come out, which was odd considering it was about 8:30 on a Friday night, and not very busy. The schnitzel was good, but the mahi was a dried out hockey puck. The side double-baked potato was dry and cold, tasteless. The bar staff was nice, they finally figured out where the fly came from when they served a second vodka cranberry with yet another fly. The initial is a solid fail. Showed up at 10:45 pm to the " cellar" with a full bar and no other seats so we had a party of 3 ready to drink and eat with 2 wide open booths and not anyone waiting. We were greeted with a just 2 and we said no our 3 rd is right behind us. Pushed out and told, plenty of seats upstair. Unbelievable poor example of hospitality! As we work in the industry I've dined at each venue numerous times. I get if it's booked up, packed etc... but those sat empty probably the rest of the night. Ridiculous as you never know If we will order a bottle of Cristal or just introduce people to your business. If you do nothing else, go to the Rokerij for the "World famous onion rings". The best I've every had, and I'm old. The jalapeño poppers are amazing too, but pretty hot. First time at Rokerij, although have been to Dicks Hideaway, Richardson's next door and the patio many times. Similar menus, same plates and similar cuisine. Not too busy on Sunday for dinner. Had the Carne Avovada ( Braised Chili Pork) served with rice and beans. More than enough for two meals. Pork was very tasty and tender. A bit more greasy than I remember but that probably adds more to the flavor. read more

Definitely improved since post Covid. Things here the year prior were so disappointing- with slow to no service, food cold, drinks not right. The list goes on and on. While much of this has changed and improved, the food is surprisingly ho-hum. For example:The porterhouse chop has a mango chutney on it, is nothing more than a mango purée. There's just no innovation or risk. Chef we can handle it! Dare to do what you want to do.!! You're brilliant yet it doesn't show in the final product. The burger also was fine, but nothing that you would go back for when there's so much competition around. Truly, the best part about this was the salads. The Caesar salad and house salad are amazing. Second time here, first time was pretty good even with the longer than average wait and uneven service. Last night, busy busy Sat night, was pretty bad. Having a reservation for over a month on Open Table didn't seem to matter much, as it's obvious they overbook. Had reservation at 7:30, got seated at 8:10 having to awkwardly stand by the hostess area in the way of everyone because they don't seem to care very much. It was not very pleasant. They could have had the courtesy to get us a few drinks to be kind of cool for the wait, but no chance here, they simply don't seem to care. They really just don't care, you're just another number to them. Yes, I know, it's Sat night and this overrated place gets crazy busy, but our server was lackluster lacking any distinguishable personality, or really much of anything really, she was kind of android like. I think we were supposed to get the older, burnt to a crisp, kind of cocky male server but he was too busy punching things in the POS system and dotting on the other tables to really care. He had zero sense of urgency about him. Zero! Perry may be his name, but being a thoughtful server was not his game. He just pretty much threw a drink menu and said "'adult beverages" and walked away only to have what appeared to be not really a server ( maybe clueless manager? ) with no name nor introduction take care of us (but minimal care if at that). Drinks ok, appetizers not nearly as good as they were a couple months ago, not as crispy and tasteful like the first time. Let's be honest, it was chaotic mess last night, so we opted to cut our losses and head over to Aftermath for some real service, ambience, and modern well prepared food. The substitute server (?) finally came and said: "thinking about some food? ". We said, we're just want the check, the thought of spending several hundred dollars ( on what we have already spent) for a dismal experience was to much to bear. I'm not dropping $500 here, they don't deserve my money. On leaving we went downstairs to check out the coveted fireplace area, but it smelled dingy and a very stagnant geriatric nursing home-like stench enveloped us and we said: " let's get out if this place, yikes" Thank you Aftermath, you saved us. I'm not sure what happened to this place. It's been a few years since I have been but I was always excited to see the flavor combos and invention of Rokerij. I was disappointed by tonight's dinner. My starter salad was heavily sprinkled with salt and was a tough first bite for the meal. The prime rib special was dry and chewy, I can see the seasoning on it in the peppercorns it was rolled in- I just couldn't taste anything. The au jus that accompanied was just a red colored water basically. My husband had the swordfish special, dry and under seasoned. Our server was nice, besides giving us trouble about asking for fresh silverware after our salad course, which I found very odd. Rokerij is a small spot adjacent to Richardson's and they have basically the same menu. We enjoyed the prickly pear margs and bacon wrapped shrimp. Great little place to meet up for drinks with a very small group. It was pretty warm inside on a July evening, so it's probably better during the cooler months. Of all the restaurants I've ever been to none even come close to the Rokerij's consistency of mind blowing dishes that leave you tantalized and speechless. From the enchiladas with homemade sauces, to the slew of appetizers with each one more delicious than the last, there isn't a single thing you can order that won't leave you blown away and satisfied. You may think I am joking, but I have dreams of their enchiladas and bacon wrapped shrimp that have me waking up wishing I was at the Rokerij. Their brunch is a whole other story. The Richardsons/Rokerij Breakfast combo is proof that God exists. The price is a steal and the flavors are amazing. No other brunch compares. Bring your friends (if they are deserving), and bring yourself because you deserve it. Any review less than 5 stars is just plain wrong. They should stick to Mcdonald's and are not worthy. Three stars is generous. This place is just blocks from our Phoenix home, we've been there several times. On this occasion, I was dining with a friend who flew in from somewhere else, and we chose the restaurant due to late opening hours. What a mistake. I like the ambiance, the underground feel and cavelike atmosphere. As I was waiting for my friend, I ordered a chorizo and bean app, and it was probably the best dish of the evening. After he arrived, the waiter could not be BOTHERED to hear a word we said (too bad, because my buddy had been in restaurants for years, and is, ordinarily, an amazing tipper). I had the burger, which I ordered with bacon and no cheese (it came with cheese and no bacon), and a salad with Italian. When the waiter brought over a salad with thick dressing, I asked him if it was the Italian, he said yes and placed it in front of me. It was my friend's Ranch dressing salad. Seriously, dude? Didn't hear a word I said. Soda refills? Not really. Water refills? Nope. When the burger came, I asked for BBQ sauce ... 8 minutes later, I had to retrieve him from the bar, and was told there was none. So, then, I asked for catsup. Another four minutes ... the cheese was pretty well congealed, and the burger only lukewarm. The bacon also took a few minutes. My friend's $85 ribeye (yes, eighty five dollars), which had been ordered medium rare, looked like it had been cooked by a nuclear reactor on the outside, and the inside was very much medium (to mid-well). The bartender/waiter was much to preoccupied flirting with the girl at the end of the bar than tending to his tables. Years of patronage out the window. I will not return. read more

It's funny how my last review was on Father's Day and now it's for Mother's Day. The server was barely seen. He probably came to see us like 4 times out of the 2 hours we were there. Towards the end he came back and asked me if I wanted a refill and I said yes. About 15 minutes pass and he's nowhere to be seen. I go out of the private room and he sees me and walks the other way. Then a minute later comes in and tries to refill my drink. By then we just all want to leave. He then took a while to bring the card back. The food was very bland and it was my fiancé's first time there and I kept talking the place up because their food is normally good. We both felt the food didn't have any flavor.
