Chips n salsa and cocktails in plastic cups
    Julia D.

My previous review was for the Brewers on the Bay Rogue location, not the Sunset Bar. This review is for the Sunset Bar. The location is prime with tables outside right on the marina. The people working were nice. The beer menu is limited, which is fine, though they do have all their cocktails. They served the cocktails in plastic cups, which I don't really understand, particularly since the bay is RIGHT THERE and the cups could get blown right into it. I'm on constant plastic watch around here and I do not approve. We got chips and salsa and I'm 99% sure the salsa was rotten (sitting in the fridge too long) cuz it tasted like crap. I'm sure I'll be back again because outdoor seating on the bay, but on the fence about getting food in the future.

Last time we were hear it was cold, the furnace was out but we had lots of fun with the bar staff and kept warm with Whisky. Rouge is known for its beers but do not overlook their unified whisky and other distilled spirits. This last time we had a flight and a couple of drinks sitting outside in the sunny weather on Newport Bay. Just tranquil for sure. I am going to talk whisky but the gin and vodka are pretty good too. The Dead Guy Whisky from malt mash from the beer of the same name is one of my favorite unique tasting whisky's makes a great Old Fashioned too. The Oregon Single Malt has a wonderful flavor neat and like all whisky's changes with ice and water. The flower just keeps getting more rounded out as you add H2O. You can also get small meals here, but if you want full menu you need to slip over to the main Brewery building and get food there.

    Yummy fried oysters!!

Go for the views and great beer! We stopped here on a whim during our stay in Newport at the end of our 9 day road trip through Oregon last week. I'm glad we passed up the other two breweries and found this place! It is a hike to get through the brewery and up the stairs to the bar/restaurant; just be sure to turn right into the restaurant as it has better views than the bar. We decided to each do a tasting flight all of which were good (see pics for our ratings of each we tasted), but the chocolate stout was delicious and by far our favorite. We usually eat oysters raw, but the fried oysters here are the best we have ever had. I don't know how they do it but the outside was fried to a crisp while the oyster inside was perfectly tender and warm. The service was okay (I think we landed there during a shift change) as the food and tastings came out pretty quick once we got to finally order. We'd def go back!

Such a killer deal when they have them available.

Got a chance to get a case beer on sale which is a killer deal on a craft beer. Go check it out they also have whiskeys, and other spirits available like cbd seltzers.

We are camping at the marina and decided to walk over for a cocktail. My husband got an old fashioned and I got the Bees Knees. Both were quite delicious. We have been here a few years back and I'm sure we will be back again in the future. It did look like they had a small food menu, but we didn't get food on this stop. But the drinks were on par! So I'd you are looking for a good craft cocktail, this is a place to check out!

I had such a great time at the Rouge world headquarters™. Better than Disneyland in my option. Less germs and better beer. Wanted to buy everything in the gift shop, but unfortunately I am not made of money. Beer was great, service was great, and my vegan brother would like everyone to know that the soy curl sliders were also... GREAT!

So good and lots of fun! The cocktails are amazing (as are the beers, of course). The first time I had cheese curds fries and they were amazing with the Korean BBQ sauce- try it! The merch is so fun too, definitely took all of our money lol. We loved it!

Awesome vibe, views, service and drinks! Great spot to grab a drink with the pup! They have snacks to round out your happy hour too!

Oh my goodness do not miss this place for the brew, the view and menu! (Poet and didn't know it!) Absolutely love this place! Alicia prepared the most delicious sandwich - a pulled pork Cubano! Yum! Heather is amazingly knowledgeable about the local craft beers and spirits as well as the locale. There is indoor and outdoor seating with the most spectacular view of the Newport Bay bridge. While in Newport be sure not to miss this gem!

Amazing views and service! Cory was amazing and the beer was exactly what we needed after a long drive. Definitely take time to come visit if you're in town!

Do yourself a favor a go here!! We went on a weekend so there was a long wait for the restaurant portion but you are waiting in their little retail store so you can shop around or buy a beer while you wait. At the restaurant we got the Kimchi Crab Sliders and the Fish and Chips. The Kimchi Crab Sliders were to die for!!! We also did the brewery tour which was the best $5 i've spent and the most bang for your buck i've ever gotten on a brewery tour. You tour the brewery section, the distillery, their workshop where they hand build the distillery barrels, and a little Rouge museum. You get from place to place in a little mini train (awesome) and you end your tour at a bar separate from the Brew House Restaurant. They give you a tasting (shot) of your spirit of choice and its not just a straight shot. Mine was mixed with Dr. Pepper with a cherry on top. They also give you a Rouge beer glass which i thought was pretty cool. It was an overall awesome experience.

Drinks were nasty food was ok and the waitress we had was not the best. Only nice thing about our visit was the view we had.

Quick service on a busy Saturday- only complaints is that we barely had our appetizer delivered when our entrees came out. Tried the cheeseburger (single) which was decent but probably a frozen patty? They should also use smaller buns- the patty was too small and way too much bread.

They have a full coffee bar to get your day started. The drink menu offered NA cocktails and also a full bar as well. We stopped to watch the waves in a wind storm and have a snack. We wanted the smashed potatoes but we're told they could not be made vegetarian because of the bacon. Leaving bacon off of vegetables seems like a must. I guess they cook their potatoes in the bacon? I'm not sure, but it was a true let down. We opted for fried avocados with a creamy dipping sauce. They were flavor packed and had a crisp outside texture. The brussel sprouts were able to be made vegetarian by taking the bacon off. That was a relief and we enjoyed both of our sides. Staff was friendly and the big windows made this stop a fun time.

People who came without a reservation were told that there's about an hour wait or they could sit at the bar level on the first floor. There's also a second bar on the second floor where the main dining room is up a flight of stairs. Service was great and we were lucky enough to sit by the window overlooking the sea lions, the water, and the Yaquina Bay Bridge. Food wise, it was mostly 5 star. I'll start with the thing that wasn't, and that was the deviled eggs (you get 3) with a lightly fried shrimp. The shrimp was overcooked, lukewarm, and didn't really add anything. But other than that, everything else was really good. The highlight was the Umpqua oysters on the half shell. We went through a dozen and a half. The oysters are sweeter, no briny. They're not huge but not tiny either like Kusshi oysters. It came with 3 different sauces. Another highlight was the whole dungenous crab...so fresh. Poke salad, garlic brussel sprouts, Yellowtail Hamachi, and Lingcod were also pretty good. If I'm ever in the area, I would definitely return.

I ordered a double, played some video poker, took a walk down to the beach to breathe and reflect. Pretty harmless stuff, right?
