It was fine and worth a stop, but I wouldn't go back. The view of the bridge is great and they have cocktails. When we stopped, we were hoping for a small snack and a cocktail. They were out of the small snacks we would have wanted. The bathrooms are also the marina bathrooms, which left a bit to be desired. It was quite cold out there. I wish we would have stopped at the Rogue location down the street that had a large menu and more selection. read more

Looking for a good burger and brew? Look no further than the Rogue. We stopped in for an early lunch after wandering the streets of the old Newport harbor. This October day was sunny so we opted to sit outside. It was peaceful and relaxing. We were brought a sampling of the ale brewed here. I don't drink beer, but was tempted to order one after tasting kitty kitty bang bang stout ale. My chicken sandwich was tasty as well. It came piled with fried onions and a great house sauce. Everyone was super friendly and we enjoyed our visit. I can see this is probably a great spirits hangout for the 30ish crowd. Looks like they brew whiskey as well. Ok, full disclosure... I am not a Rogue fanboy. Their beers are good but not my favorite. My review today is more about the venue than the beer. I walked in just after opening and was greeted by Heather, a fun and friendly barkeeper! She talked me through some of the spirits offerings and the beers on tap. I decided to have a glass of the F@ck Putin! and a dram of the single malt whiskey. The beer, a special for the support of the Ukraine war effort, was clear, clean and refreshing. What took me most by surprise was the single malt whiskey. Smooth, butter honey notes and a pleasant aftertaste that was appealing. This is not a whiskey that grabs you by the tonsils and won't let go, but rather a friendly sipper to make for an enjoyable drinking experience. My bill came to $13 for the two beverages + tip. They have a limited food menu, but I was really only there for the beverages. The food that went out while I was there looked appealing and my fellow customers all seemed to be enjoying their food. The venue is clean, and will appeal to the tourist crowd with beverages and swag adorning most open surfaces. The view of the boats and bridge are pleasant and I imagine sunset would be lovely there. My previous review was for the Brewers on the Bay Rogue location, not the Sunset Bar. This review is for the Sunset Bar. The location is prime with tables outside right on the marina. The people working were nice. The beer menu is limited, which is fine, though they do have all their cocktails. They served the cocktails in plastic cups, which I don't really understand, particularly since the bay is RIGHT THERE and the cups could get blown right into it. I'm on constant plastic watch around here and I do not approve. We got chips and salsa and I'm 99% sure the salsa was rotten (sitting in the fridge too long) cuz it tasted like crap. I'm sure I'll be back again because outdoor seating on the bay, but on the fence about getting food in the future. read more

Last time we were hear it was cold, the furnace was out but we had lots of fun with the bar staff and kept warm with Whisky. Rouge is known for its beers but do not overlook their unified whisky and other distilled spirits. This last time we had a flight and a couple of drinks sitting outside in the sunny weather on Newport Bay. Just tranquil for sure. I am going to talk whisky but the gin and vodka are pretty good too. The Dead Guy Whisky from malt mash from the beer of the same name is one of my favorite unique tasting whisky's makes a great Old Fashioned too. The Oregon Single Malt has a wonderful flavor neat and like all whisky's changes with ice and water. The flower just keeps getting more rounded out as you add H2O. You can also get small meals here, but if you want full menu you need to slip over to the main Brewery building and get food there. read more

This bar is in the area of the boat ramp and RV campground. Great views of the marina and the bridge. The brewery is less than a mile away and they offer tours if you're interested. I like to take pictures of the interesting vessels moored at the marina when I am in Newport and a stop for a craft beer while I am here is pretty much mandatory. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Lots of free parking. They have a nice outdoor patio when it's warm(er) and dry out. read more

Stopped by after visiting the museum with the family and we really enjoy our meals here. The location/entrance is a bit funky but once you find your way in it's a wonderful time. They gave us a sample beer of the American lager which was delicious. A few of us got flights of beer and really enjoyed all of them. For food, most of us ordered the dead guy burger and the chicken sandwich and both were so good! We were bummed there were no brewery tours because of Covid but our server was super nice and informative and gave us some info about the company and the place which was nice. Go for the views and great beer! We stopped here on a whim during our stay in Newport at the end of our 9 day road trip through Oregon last week. I'm glad we passed up the other two breweries and found this place! It is a hike to get through the brewery and up the stairs to the bar/restaurant; just be sure to turn right into the restaurant as it has better views than the bar. We decided to each do a tasting flight all of which were good (see pics for our ratings of each we tasted), but the chocolate stout was delicious and by far our favorite. We usually eat oysters raw, but the fried oysters here are the best we have ever had. I don't know how they do it but the outside was fried to a crisp while the oyster inside was perfectly tender and warm. The service was okay (I think we landed there during a shift change) as the food and tastings came out pretty quick once we got to finally order. We'd def go back! read more

We are camping at the marina and decided to walk over for a cocktail. My husband got an old fashioned and I got the Bees Knees. Both were quite delicious. Do yourself a favor a go here!! We went on a weekend so there was a long wait for the restaurant portion but you are waiting in their little retail store so you can shop around or buy a beer while you wait. At the restaurant we got the Kimchi Crab Sliders and the Fish and Chips. The Kimchi Crab Sliders were to die for!!! We also did the brewery tour which was the best $5 i've spent and the most bang for your buck i've ever gotten on a brewery tour. You tour the brewery section, the distillery, their workshop where they hand build the distillery barrels, and a little Rouge museum. You get from place to place in a little mini train (awesome) and you end your tour at a bar separate from the Brew House Restaurant. They give you a tasting (shot) of your spirit of choice and its not just a straight shot. Mine was mixed with Dr. Pepper with a cherry on top. They also give you a Rouge beer glass which i thought was pretty cool. It was an overall awesome experience. read more

This was a nice gesture and an excellent way to get us to select our beer. Rouge never disappoints on their refreshments, however, to food fell short. I had clam chowder and the wife and I split halibut fish and chips. I provided a two star rating because the food was just ok. When I'm sitting in a restaurant over the bay I expect the seafood to be good. The facility was mainly clean and the wait staff were friendly and attentive. Exceptional in every way, I don't want to live in a world where I can't visit this place for some top-tier burgers and whiskey. Their signature Dead Man whiskey is nothing short of a drinkable miracle, and you can serve it on the rocks without worrying about the water ruining it - in my personal opinion, it benefits from a small steeping. I also tried the pretzels, fried cauliflower, curd burger, and Meyer lemonade. All three pretzel dips are divine (and I don't even like mustard!), the curd burger didn't last five minutes, and the lemonade was delightfully fizzy and tart. My only issue was with the cauliflower, which needed another thirty seconds or so in the fryer. Definitely coming back, probably every time I'm in the area! read more

My new Saturday ritual. We keep our sailboat in the marina and I couldn't wait for Rogue to open up so I could get the bloody mary I was craving. Two ladies behind the bar greeted me with smiles behind their masks and made me the best drink. I sat outside on the picnic table and imbibed while enjoying the view. I must say, my husband will agree, I NEVER finish a bloody as I often just get sick of it. NOT HERE - nor have I ever drank one so fast!
