Traditional Irish Bread Pudding
Joy D.

Nana's is a pretty big restaurant with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Food- We got the Galway Cod au tu gratin and Shepherds pie. Both were pretty good. I would give the food 3.5-4 stars. There wasn't a lot of Cod fish (see pic). It was like 4 small pieces over the mashed potatoes. The sauce was yummy. The Shepherds pie is crusted with potatoes and not the flaky crust that they use for the chicken pot pie. The filling was tasty and we got a side of their homemade hot sauce, which is packed with flavor. Bread pudding and their in house whip cream 3.5 The restaurant is a bit older. You're pretty close to the next table. Our server was hard-working and busy.

Galway Cod Au Gratin

Delicious EVERY time! Today, we brought the pups and even in 46 degrees, wind & rain, we were warm and dry in the covered section of the patio. Grateful for the fantastic service, great draft beer selection, delicious Irish fare, and the option to enjoy it all with our fur babies.

Steak & Guinness Pie

Lovely kid friendly pub with awesome Irish dishes. The waiter was great! He just shrugged his shoulders said kids and going to be kids when our toddler went goblin mode. I always wanted to try scotch eggs and was not disappointed. Crunchy, soft, addicting. The Guinness pie was full of gravy, veggies, and meat. It appeared as if it should have been a heavy dish but it somehow wasn't. Pie crust was flakey as - f. The corned beef was tender. I could have it every Sunday. I personally didn't love the carrots or cabbage that came with it. I can't describe the taste other than being strange. We ended with the bread pudding. We took it to go but I would advise eating it in house as you get fruit and more whipped cream. Was still good, I just have whipped cream envy.

This is more for myself but whenever I go I ask myself "have I tried the Reuben" now I have evidence and the answer for myself. The meat is delicious but a little dry. The cabbage is not too acidic so doesn't offend too much like sauerkraut in my opinion. I like the honey mustard instead of grain mustard. Call me a big child but I'm not a fan of mustard in general. I would probably order again but maybe do extra mustard or something to moisten it up.

Cold fire and a Breakside 20oz beers

After 15 minutes of wait and seeing other new tables being waited on we flagged down the girl buses a near by table. She went to get our waitress to come over and take our order. Limited beer menu; if you like Guinness they have back&tans half&half. We got an imperial 20oz beer rotating IPA. The beers were good. As for the food, I feel it was typical Irish pub fare.

We usually love and look forward to dining here but this time it was rather disappointing. The Colcannon soup was delicious as well as their always fantastic soda bread! My husband got the meatloaf and wasn't impressed but said mine looked better. Normally their Corned Beef is delicate and flaky, but this time not so much. I tried cutting it every different way and could hardly get the knife through it. Even my fork couldn't get through it. I got down one piece and my husband struggled but got most of the 2nd piece down. We have been here a dozen times or more and it's always been delicious. The Rueben's are the best. Please try them out! This was a Monday night and maybe they were off their game. We'll go back but will go with the tried and true Rueben's.

Irish Sausage Rolls

This Irish pub was a miss. The Irish soda bread was the star of the show, which says a lot. I ordered the Irish sausage rolls and while the puff pastry was flaky and decent (pretty sure it was frozen Pillsbury dough), the mash was just okay. The gravy was straight up disgusting and they hit me with a gargantuan amount of peas. The sausage itself? No sear, just a sad grey log. Service was rough. Our waitress seemed new and was genuinely confused by simple requests, like bringing appetizers and entrees at the same time. When it was time to pay, she dropped off the card reader and just left it at our table for 15 minutes which felt like an eternity. Maybe I am nitpicking but honestly this place just was not good.

Chocolate Brandy Bread Pudding

We wound up at Nana's pub because half of our party didn't eat seafood. I could not have been pleased! Everyone was able to order what they wanted and everything i tasted was really delicious! Mom had the chicken pot pie, i enjoyed the Cod au Gratin. Hubs opted for a salad and the birthday boy feasted on the meatloaf! Nana's soda bread is out of this world!! THE BEST i've ever had! The chocolate bread pudding was so delectable and yummy!! i'm not a huge fan of chocolate desserts sometimes - because they are heavy and/or dry. This was neither! this was the perfect chocolatety end to a fantastic meal! Service was friendly and attentive. We were there for a late lunch, so it wasn't too busy or too loud! We actually talked with a couple (or regulars) at the table next to us! Great place whether you live in newport or are just passing through!

Service was friendly and attentive. The food was so good. Steak and Guinness Pie was amazing, rich and flavorful with a crispy puff pastry.

First time eating at Nana's Irish Pub. We were attended to quickly. The restaurant was clean and had a lot of things to look at while you waited for your food. It takes a bit longer to get your order but that is mentioned on the menu. The food was fresh and was worth the wait. The food was good and presented in a pleasing way. The only complaint I have was my own fault, I wanted the soup of the day, but I didn't say that when I ordered, I just said that I wanted soup assuming that there was only one. I ended up getting clam chowder, which was fine. I know now to be more specific. A great place to go on a chilly day.

Local pub, so good.

Not being familiar with the area, I asked a local for a good place to eat. They referred me to Nana's Irish Pub. Wow! What a gem of a pub. Obviously a favorite among the locals. Natasha is the amazing server that keeps everything running smoothly. I had the baked cod au gratin, which comes smothered with this cheesy/creamy goodness and resting on a pillow of mashed potatoes, peas and a slice of soda bread. Washed that down with a pint of Harp ale. What a meal!

Baked Brie with chutney

Just do it! This place has charm, great service and very yummy food! We loved our stroll in the neighborhood as well! The food was so good we intended on leaving with leftovers, but instead we rolled out of there lol. The bartender made us an orange ginger mule drink that was super tasty too! We ordered the Ruben, steak pie, and the baked Brie. The Ruben had cabbage instead of sauerkraut which was very yummy. The corned beef was cooked perfectly and there was plenty in the sandwich. The steak pie had lots of meat and veggies. It is definitely enough for two people. The pastry was nice and flaky. The baked Brie was oooey and gooey. Just perfect! We'll be back for sure!

With that meal you will experience actual satisfaction and contentment. That's the first thing I have to say in case you're reading for a recommendation of what to order. Even better if you have it late night after experiencing the best Handel's Messiah concert at the Hult in December. I had a small slider of corned beef along with his amazing fresh Kale salad garnish with shaved Parmesan, walnuts, added protein -- sausage. It came with a toasted slice of soda bread that was great. But the slider was how I realized the corned beef was PERFECTLY prepared. A taste was not enough; I decided to get the dinner plate version to take the next day up to Seattle with me. Fantastic staff included Barkeep Illyia, whose birthday it was. She kept up a steady stream of attentive care, skillful service, friendly banter with each of the clients that came in and said good by to them as they left. Hospitality was her middle name. Love that they have mugs for the regulars hanging from the ceilings, the bar space is great but so are the arm chairs and cushioned seats in the corners of the pub. I even ran into two other concertgoers who had also been so energized after the Messiah concert that they didn't want to go home. We spent a half hour at the bar unpacking the highs and best points of the performance by the Eugene Symphony Orchestra, and the symphony choir, and each of the soloists. We also unanimously agreed the tenor was fantastic, the baritone a paragon of artistic talent, the soprano sang incandescently, and that the final AMEN movement was soul healing and mind blowing simultaneously. Yeah. It was that good. This place was the right place to come to unpack it all over a Guinness and the best corned beef and cabbage in town. Love that it was open late enough to enjoy after the concert. Will be back.

It was thick slab corned beef, perfectly tender. I also got their pretzel with the beer cheese sauce. To be honest, the beer cheese wasn't my favorite...was a little gooopy and the texture wasn't great. But, the pretzel was fantastic. It has the salt, the chew, and it was a great size. I also got their colcannon. It was great! Creamy and delicious. I ordered their brown gravy too because I like gravy with my potatoes and it was hearty and a big side for the price. All in all, i definitely recommend the pint pot!
