It was a semi blustery day in Newport, Paul and I were out in the motorcycles and happened across Claim 52. We opted to sit outside, and while cool there was live music and comfy picnic tables. I ordered the western Burger, Paul had the fish and chips. Both meals were served quickly and tasted good. I didn't try any beer as we have a no drinking while out on a ride rule but the patrons around us seemed to be enjoying their pints. I'd like to try it again sometime and taste their beer but I can say the food was delicious. read more

Claim 52 Brewing was okay... I went with a party of four, we got seated right away, and the service was very fast. We started off with a pretzel which was good. Then my daughter and I split the pizza, it looked much better than it tasted. The crust was good but the sauce just tasted weird. My son had the chicken wings- which he enjoyed. We Probably wouldn't eat here again but We also didn't try the beer so maybe that's what brings most people in. read more

5/5 -- Fantastic grand opening experience on the Newport Bayfront Claim 52's new location on the Historic Bayfront in Newport, OR was a great surprise. First, I have to mention that I was a big fan of the previous occupant, Rogue Brewery, and I was genuinely sad to hear that this pub had closed after Rogue shut down. So I was very curious to see what would take its place. We happened to be in the area on Claim 52's grand opening day, with their soft opening having been the day before. Right away, we were greeted by a courteous and generous hostess who was polite, welcoming, and very forthcoming with whichever beer samples we wanted to try. We started with the clam chowder, and it was very, very good. Lots of large, clean, fresh clams, and the chowder was even topped with bacon. The soup base had a nice little kick of heat and spice, but nothing too hot for more sensitive eaters. I would absolutely order it again. Next we tried the fried cheese curds. Large, crispy, gooey, and delicious. Easy win. Would order again. For our main, we had the halibut fish and chips. Oh. My. Gosh. Three huge pieces of battered halibut, plus some of the best fries I've had in a long time. The fries were perfectly cut and fried, with an almost glass-like crispy exterior and a tender, fluffy interior. They honestly might be my new favorite fries. The fish was excellent too: meaty, flaky, light, and clean. My only small knock is that the fish could have used just a tiny bit more salt, but a little malt vinegar fixed that right up. Overall, this was a 5/5 experience. I'm excited to come back the next time I'm in the Historic Bayfront area of Newport. Highly recommend. read more

Stopped in while visiting. They were busy, but I got seated quickly. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. Without asking, they gave me a small sample of one of their beers, which was fun. Their beers are very tasty. I had the fish tacos. They were fantastic. Many fish options. I stuck with the rockfish. The salsa is very spicy and the white sauce was delicious. The space is simple. I dined solo, but they can accommodate larger groups as well. read more

We were passing through Newport on a road trip. We stopped here for lunch with our dog so we sat on the patio. The atmosphere is welcoming and the benches were comfortable. I love the string lights outside. Service: excellent! We were served waters right away and our drink order came fast. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. A nice gentleman who worked there brought our dog a bowl of water (so kind!). Food: excellent! I had the crispy chicken sandwich with Buffalo sauce and it was everything I wanted it to be: crispy, flavorful, and not. The fries were also so good! Tasty beers to try! Good server. Clam chowder is really good and worth trying. My husband had a bbq burger which was good but bbq sauce was a little too sweet. He enjoyed the onion rings. I had a bay shrimp salad, which was ok, but the salad was not as cold or crisp as needed and dressing was a bit sweet. Attentive server and nice vibe in here :). Delightful choice for lunch on a nice day while visiting the area. We sat outside and were early eating at noon. Also outside were guests with dogs, which do don't appreciate but understand this is a trend. We each had a fluffy IPA, which was great. My wife and I shared a bowl of chowder and the BBQ burger with tots. Priced appropriately considering today's prices. Service was great. Chowder and burger were great! read more

Awesome. We sat on the outdoor patio with the pups. - Huge & tasty, crispy on the outside, soft of the inside pretzel with beer cheese & flavorful seeded mustard. I had cider, he had beer. 10/10 Our companions ordered a dog burger plus cheese. Greasy, tender and delectable, just like the finicky girls love it. Service was prompt and welcoming. We were greeted with a sample of their lager within seconds of sitting! Patio ambience was nice. It is fenced and gated with water bowls. Perfect for a nice day. The food tastes good but the server did not give the friendliest vibe at all! It She was a little bit more kind toward the end of the lunch. Also they gave my pizza to the WRONG table because they were training employees! They probably didn't think they needed to check but THEY DID. Also pizza was BURN'T! I wanted sausage on my pizza but since they gave it to the wrong table they gave me no sausage! This place is honestly a mess. It has a bar vibe to it and that's it! It is nothing special at all! I know I said the food tastes good but only the tater tots and the pretzel was good! The pizza was horrible! read more

First things first, I never order a 2nd beer at home, I did here. Now I'm also what I like to call a buffalo wings super freak. The wings here are top tier, amazing sauce (buffalo). My furry companion loved her chicken breast and also enjoyed the outdoor seating. I hate to put this last but the service was also perfect. 10 out of 10. We drove from Corvallis to Newport today to escape the heat, and had lunch at this relatively new spot. Fish and chips sounded good to me; my spouse ordered the fish tacos. I liked having a choice of cod, halibut or rockfish - I opted for the cod while she had rockfish; neither of us were disappointed. The cod was moist and flaky; the batter was spot-on. And the fries (of all things) were memorable - hot, crisp, not overly salted. Service was good; beer options were plentiful; ambiance was truly coastal PNW. Great beer. Excellent wings and good Pizza. Normally we have to ask every establishment to make our wings crispy. We forgot! We were not disappointed, they were delicious and crispy. We are traveling, Oregon does not have the friendliest people, I don't know if it's from Covid, or what. Service was good not excellent, but food and beer made up for it. It was ok. Not great/not horrible. I know they are new so I'm sure they're still finding their groove. It feels like they made a mad dash to get open before Memorial Day weekend. There is no pizza oven yet, but it's on the menu. We got a beverage sample pick 6 sample tray. A few picked, they ended up not having some of their own brews on tap. We picked guest pours as a sub. My husband liked his burger, and our daughter liked the chicken wings. Now my fish and chips...the batter fell off upon pick up. Impossible to dip in tartar. I ended up slathering my other pieces in sauce and eating with a fork. Bland in seasoning. The chowder was good. Thin, but plenty of ingredients when you scoop and a nice little garnish of chopped bacon. We're locals so it was worth a try. We'll try again in a few months. It's ok but not really a top of our list place we'd bring out of town guests too. I wish them well. read more

They just opened so we need to try. The clam chowder was the best I have had in Newport. Lots of nice meaty clams and bacon. It was not gummy at all and I will be back for more. We also had the grilled Octopus...really good and really different...but I think more fried than grilled. They are still getting up a running so we couldn't try the tacos or the pizza yet, but this is a very promising addition to the bay. We had good service....the beer was excellent and well served. Calamari is not their specialty. Not only over cooked in old disgusting friying oil, you get maybe 8 whole squid. Fish and chips, an item that they should be pros at, were greasy and the so the breading slipped away from the fish dropping it onto the basket. I liked the Porter and the fries. read more
