We stopped in to the creamery to pick up lunch (delicious grilled cheeses- the classic and the special) and some charcuterie ingredients for our weekend visiting wineries. They only allowed one party in at a time due to COVID and I really appreciated that given the size of the shop. The employees took the time to explain the differences between each of the cheeses and recommended specific options based on the fact we were wine tasting. Ohhhh mannnnnn.... This place! First of all, whoever the evil genius was who put a cheese (and beer) shop, wine shop, and chocolate shop all in the same parking lot... I salute you! We went here for a brief day trip and lunch yesterday, and made a point to stop and stock up on cheese today on our way out of town. Lunch was a fantastic grilled cheese sandwich, done panini style and with a generous amount of cheese (one could argue, too generous...). I could only eat half mine, whew! Rogue brewery root beer is on tap... So cool! The place itself is so cute. Old truck parked outside, super cute logos which I'm a sucker for, and tons of free samples. This place is also great if you want to stock up for a picnic too. They not only have cheese, but a few deli items like salami (MOLINARI!!!), crackers, fruit, beer, wine, jams, etc... I used to go at least 3-4 time a week! They fixed the street now if I want to go there I have to walk on uneven ground and sidewalks so it takes me a long time to get to the door because I have to really watch each one of my steps, and they changed the inside trying to be a café or deli, When I could get in I could find the cheese curds and anything I wanted but now it's like they are to busy helping the customers who want something to eat then the customers who would like to buy cheese curds! The last time I was there I stood for 27 minutes in what I thought was the cashier line only to find out it was something else, I made my way up to a counter and place what I was going to buy on the counter and turned to walk away when I heard someone ask if I needed some help?, I said not anymore you can keep all your cheese and serve anyone who is willing to be ignored until you think maybe you should say something to them! Yes expensive, especially their creamy "Rogue River Blue", but if you are a Blue Cheese lover treat yourself! Other cheeses were good but none I'd go out of my way for. I managed to stuff about $10 worth of free cheese and crackers into my mouth before wandering the isles for items to purchase. This is a seriously cool little cheese store and creamery. When you drive by - it is unprepossessing. Just a little shop. But when you go inside, you can take a taste of many of their cheeses (and cheeses that they sell, but do not make). We quickly filled up our shopping basket. THEN - you see that they have a couple of sandwich presses - and they make 2 different grilled cheese sandwiches every day. These are really yummy grilled cheese sammies made with real cheeses. OMG.... The best place ever to get cheese. They let us sample a lot of amazing cheese. I loved the lavender cheese they have. Can't wait to take my husband. And between my parents sending me Maytag (Iowa) Blue every Christmas and the availability of Cowgirl Creamery cheeses, it's easy to get spoiled with this embarrassment of riches. Rogue Creamery even had a selection of gourmet cheese curds for my poutine. During our recent trip to Ashland, Gayle and I stopped by the main store/factory in the Medford-area to perhaps see how the magic was done. There are big windows that open up onto the production floor, but there was not much going on during our visit. The equipment inside was kind of cool though. Otherwise, it's a pretty neat little historical building, with lots of cheese (and other Oregon products like Rogue Beer) to choose from and staffed by friendly folks in hair nets. They have also a new wine tasting building on the premises for the tempting pairings with Rogue Blue, Oregonzola, or one of their sharp Cheddars. read more

Across the highway from Rogue Creamery, there's this disturbing / distracting auto shop sign / sculpture that looks like the legs of a man flying out of some piece of machinery. Not even once did it occur to me that this stretch of road might possibly be some kind of foodie tourist destination. But it is. And now I know it's there. So keep your pants on. Many birds fell from the sky with my one-stone visit to Rogue Creamery. Of course I left with an armful of cheese. Sharp Cheddar. Raw Milk Cheddar. Lavender Cheddar. Echo Mountain Blue. But that's not all. They also sell my favorite jerky -- Gary West -- saving me a trip to Jacksonville down the road. They have chocolates (um dark chocolate blue cheese truffles, anyone?) from Lille Belle Farms just next door. They've got nearly everything edibly decadent Oregon ever put in a package in their one little shop. On return trip from the Redwood Forest we stopped at Rogue Creamery for one thing: Morimoto Soba Ale Cheddar Cheese. They do not make cheese on Sundays. Nonetheless, the friendly employees were energetic, passionate and informative. We sampled several Cheddars and goat cheeses along with salami. BEST Blue Cheese ever! Not even kidding. We bought the World #1 cheese and loved it. Bought a whole wheel. Expensive? Not really. The Smoked Blue cheese is heaven on a burger. I ended up buying samples of each variety offered. Over the weekend I sampled each with different pairings of fruits, wines and cured meats. I loved them all for different reasons. I wish I lived closer to this place, My wife doesn't! LOL.... Some of the cheese is very creamy, some a little more firm but all delicious. I ONLY sampled Blues. The wife sampled Cheddars.
