After looking around for new breakfast places to eat, I found Rodeo. We ordered hot chocolate (free refills) & cranberry juice to drink. The MR ordered the Chicken Fried Steak with country potatoes which had cheese, peppers and onions and your choice of brown or white gravy! I had the Steak Dinner. I requested medium and it was a disappointment. My steak was tough and very dry. It was overloaded with salt which was to much for me. It was clearly well done. I didn't want to order another in case I get the same so I just ate the french fries and what my husband ordered. The dinner entree wasn't a large portion, which was surprising since I've seen some amazing photos. All in all, the server was nice but wasn't as attentive as I'd thought. I've lived in clovis for about 5 years and have never eaten here until about a month ago. The first time the food was okay, my pancakes tasted like burnt charcoal. But the service was great , So I gave it another try and I was so impressed with how the food came out that day. It was delicious. And my pancakes were so airy and fluffly. Five stars but my only complaint is the lack of seating during busy times, weekend mornings are hit or miss on getting a table. Food itself is worth the wait though. Drove by this place several times and considered trying it out but always ended up going somewhere else because this place doesn't look like much from the outside. Finally gave it a try today with family and I must say, the sign out front that says "Best grub in Clovis" couldn't be more accurate. Staff is always fantastic and efficient and food is delicious. Same prices you'd pay at IHOP or the equivalent but much better quality. Saturday's can be hectic and you might have to wait a few minutes if you go early in the morning but worth the wait. read more

Have eaten here previously, and have always been impressed with both the food and service. This time was no exception. Three of us piled into a booth and perused the breakfast menu. Friends settled on a hamburger steak with eggs, a chicken fried steak platter and coffees. I chose the enchilada omelette, with home fries. The arrival of my dish caused me to gasp, as it was a large serving size and beautifully presented. It tasted amazing, authentic with a good garnish of sliced black olives, perfectly done spuds and creamy cheese. Service was a tad bit slow considering it was later morning, but always cheerful. This place was recommended to me by Larry Remis who has done some marketing for me before. He thought I would find this place useful for my business. I am a breakfast freak and also a former chef so I stayed to eat. I was thrilled to not only have friendly service but my breakfast looked like a picture in a magazine. To top it off, I was ecstatic to find that my eggs were cooked perfectly. Not something you can usually find in most restaurants. Although I don't get to Clovis very often, it will be my regular stop even if I have to drive a little bit to get there. Next time I hope to have room for some of those beautiful looking pies. My wife and I wanted to try somewhere new as we are not often in Clovis. I had Country Sausage and scrabbled eggs and my wife had ham and scrambled eggs and we had a side of gravy. The food arrived cold and the eggs were over cooked- the same for my wife. The home fries were laden in grease- a puddle. Gravy was from a package - and not a good one. My wife and I come at least once a week. Everything on the menu is good, but breakfast is my favorite. Take it from this Texan, this is the best Chicken- Fried- Steak in the Valley! I have been here many times before, but I am NO LONGER a customer here. After being seated and the place was not busy, my coffee had a black floater debris in it after it was brought and we placed our order. Now I don't mind that usually I just ask for a replacement. BUT when I pointed it out quietly to our waitress, SHE NEVER came back with a replacement when she said she would. This went on for 30 min. BUT I was with a party of 4 and we all never got asked for refills or asked what we needed. Also during this 30 min, the waitress was sure helping out other tables after and AROUND us, she COMPLETELY ignored us. And mind you this is a small shop AND not busy with customers at this time. The last straw was the waitress walked toward our table with a pot BUT filled the other tables and walked RIGHT past us and she shrugged her shoulders and smirked. Still mind you we never got our food and other tables did. At this point I was so ANGRY but not one to cause a scene we all just got up and left. We left money for the coffee my party did drink but no refills. As we walked out the door, now the waitress NOW notices us and saying "hey your food is at the window, it's at the window!" Now out the door in the street, I was still ANGRY and as I was going to turn around and yell, my friend spoke to tell her that the reason we are leaving is because she never came back to our table with my replacement coffee and our refills. This place officially SUCKS for horrible service. I don't care how good the food may be at any place, if you treat your customers bad, you deserve to go out of business. I don't care if the mayor or the Queen of England invites me to eat here we are not coming back and no one should either! I've never been to a place that makes you feel so odd. I'm sitting there with my husband and daughter waiting and waiting to be seated. Then we waited and waited to get some water and and waited and waited to get a order all the while I'm watching folks come in and get greeted and there order in a timely matter. I couldn't speak. I felt like getting up and leaving. I probably should have. I started noticing and feeling this place is racist. ... I didn't want to jump the gun. But there where many ppl sat for their order and food while we where still waiting to put our order in. This non white father and son sat across from us. I saw them looking around noticing what we had noticed. They also where ignored. The father finally said something to the waitress. Never mind the food. After being treated like that. I can't really say I cared for the food. This place should seriously be looked at. Racism is not a joke. They shouldn't allowed to treat people this way and get away with it. Terrible! Service sucked and the food wasn't much better. I didn't really feel welcomed when the two of us walked in, they almost act put out by customers. Anyhow, server was awful. Older blonde who's clearly been in the business for 40+ years and it CLEARLY SHOWS, was pretty bad. I'm sure she's over her job but could possibly fake it a little better. She took our order, dropped the food and then the check and that was it. No personality, never returned to check on us or ask to see how our shitty food was (I'll get to that) and never refilled our coffee. She kind of just forgot about us and it showed, the food took much longer than it should've. Lastly the food: Bacon was disgusting and burnt to a crisp and the eggs were not edible. The French toast was good. However, you're predominantly a breakfast joint and you can't get bacon or eggs right? You're a joke and it's a wonder that people eat here and come back. From the moment we walked in it was bad experience. My husband, sister, and I weren't acknowledged whatsoever while standing there for a few minutes (they weren't busy, so I found it rude) we were never greeted only stared at by 2 employees. ..really? Should we sit or wait? ....eventually we were seated but then she just walked away without a word, then after just sitting there for almost 10 minutes I hear a woman say to our waitress "they need drinks " talking about our table. ...even being brought to her attention she still never asked us about drinks and did a round of refilling everyone elses coffee cups! Are you kidding me? That was it for me, I wasn't going to spend my money where we didn't feel welcomed or treated right....with that being said we left. I have never just got up and left over service but this was obsurd. Never ever again!!! We took our business up the street to sandys country junction and I am so thrilled that we did. I ordered the chile verde omelette meal with a small pancake. The small pancake had a cold dolop of butter that was large enough for four large pancakes, the syrup was also cold as was the pancake. Eggs were not completely mixed (could still see whites through out) personal peeve. The worst was that the pork in the omlette had a very bad after taste of rancid meat. I told the waitress and she said they haven't had any other complaints. We paid and left and I will never go back. read more

The food here is pretty good. Ive been here at least a dozen times and either get a denver omlette or a burger. Their home fries are tasty and have a nice seasoning on them. My reason for the 3 stars is the service. If you are a regular (someone who is there every day) and over 50 years old you've got it made there. I finally stopped going because I was tired of being treated poorly just because I'm in my 20's. Now I've been in the food industry and know that people who are older tend to be a tad more impatient, especially when it comes to food, but come on. On one too many occasions people were given a table when I was there 10 minutes before them. I've also ordered my food and watched an older couple get sat, eat,and leave before I ever received my food. One waitress in particular there seems to really not like younger people for some reason, she usually never even makes eye contact with me. Maybe I'll try them 30 years from now and get some decent service. read more

We arrived 15 minutes before closing and ordered breakfast. The pancakes were awful, very doughy. The bacon was burnt and the sausage was burnt on the outside and very pink on the inside. This is the best place for a filling traditional American breakfast for a great price! I love their biscuits and gravy, but if your looking for the perfect Belgium waffle or a flawless omelet, you may want to head elsewhere. Don't let that detour you thought, I've been to great restaurants for breakfast from San Diego to San Francisco, and this one is by far my absolute favorite. I'm looking forward to returning to Clovis for the Rodeo this April. I've lived in Clovis for over 10 years now, and I've been to the Rodeo Coffee Shop many times. It's never not busy in this place, and clearly, there is a fairly large contingent of regulars that frequently dine there. I will say that they have, hands down, the best french toast I've ever had in my life. However, veer from the french toast, and you might as well have gone to Denny's. This morning I sat at the counter, hoping that this would afford me a little better service than I normally get there. It didn't happen. While they are friendly, they are not fast. My beverage cup was empty for quite a long time before I starting trying to flag people down for a refill. Also, and this just might be me, I asked for some orange juice and what I got tasted just like Sunny D, which is absolutely not orange juice. It was kind of nasty. It would have been less expensive, better tasting, and probably less frustrating just to have gone to Denny's. read more
