Sneaky and tasty coffee shop that makes a mean grilled cheese sandwich. Not the coziest shop, but a solid spot for a quick drop-in to get some work down. It was the afternoon, so I balked my normal coffee order and went with the sour patch energy soda. This is a watermelon and sour candy mixed drink with Blue Lotus energy base. It was sweet, but I kind of loved it. I ordered a bacon grilled cheese with a dragon spicy sauce and it complemented the sweet drink perfectly! Thank you to the crew at Monkey Dog. On a last minute, overnight trip from Sacramento to Moorpark, we spent the night in Clovis. Thankfully Monkey Dog was open early enough the next morning to visit and get caffeinated for our second leg of driving. We grabbed some bagels, a brass monkey, and cold brew horchata. This place is super slow!!!!!! Placed an order for two vanilla lattes (nothing wild) and it took them 15 mins to make... There was no line in front of me just people waiting for their drinks.... Seems to be a trend.... I even tipped . They even got my order wrong! I ordered one vanilla latte and one sugar-free vanilla latte. Don't come here if you're expecting fast good service. From what I've tried so far, it's pretty solid! Recently got a seasonal drink with a cute name but it's just a gingerbread latte! It was yum, as a person with a sweet tooth, I was satisfied with the sweetness level. Gingerbread flavor was present and the coffee flavor as well, nice balance~. For their chai latte, last time I got it I wasn't a fan, it wasn't necessarily bad tho. I'd agree on the sentiment from other reviews that interior and layout-wise, it's different... doesn't give the vibes as a place to really study (if you're a college student like I), but great for a quick chat and solid coffee!!! The drinks are good. Ambiance is not it though. Walking in It felt awkward- the way everything is laid out, it feels more like a waiting area in a clinic or something. Lots of people sitting against the wall or standing around - they were clearly backed up even though they were fully staffed. I think partly because of door dash orders. I got the Canadian breakfast sandwich, it was average I would've liked the egg less fried and the English muffin more toasted. The matcha honey latte was great, no complaints. Service was nonexistent , the cashier was so busy that she didn't even look at us when taking our order. When she wasn't at the register she was scrambling to help get orders out. Although it doesn't give off that trendy, modern coffee shop vibe that you get at other local spots the drinks are well prepared. I still recommend to give it a shot. read more

The coffee was pretty good. The ambience/atmosphere was your basic coffee shop with more interesting art. Not sure we would go again.

I'm upset because this coffee shop has the chillest vibe but is so far away from me, so it will make it hard for me to make it part of my weekly routine unfortunately. Staff was kind and patient while I browsed the menu , they quickly answered any questions i had and even offered alternatives to best suit my palette. Not only do they have all kinds of drink options and breakfast foods they also have lots of pastries to choose from including pies from pie mamas! If you are chill down to earth person that enjoys great music this is the coffee shop for you! I am lucky enough to live a block away from this place. It has me like, Starbucks who? I don't know her, sorry. This visit was a pre-shopping fuel up, so we wouldn't overspend at the grocery store. Their sandwiches are delicious and just the right amount, and I've never had a bad drink there. The employees are always kind and helpful too, because I never know what I want. They have all the classic coffee shop vibes too, with board games waiting to be played, and even a Lego reproduction of Central Perk. Ditch the national coffee places and come try something made with love. I don't get coffee often, but this is my go to place now. read more

With our usual spots closed on a Sunday, we decided to give Monkey Dog Coffee a try. We ordered an iced Americano and the cinnamon shorty--both were quite good! However, the experience was a bit mixed. It took a surprisingly long time to get our drinks, especially considering the shop wasn't very busy. The staff member who took our order wasn't particularly welcoming. Since it was our first visit, I mentioned that to her, hoping for a little guidance or a friendly suggestion--but instead, we felt a bit rushed to decide. Very nice baristas and an inviting atmosphere. They even have some games so we played giant UNO while we wait. The coffee options are so awesome and unique, just wish the coffee was a little stronger. I love the coffee scene in fresno - but have yet to discover some of clovis' favorites... until today! I went on a whim after a few recommendations, and this shop absolutely lives up to the hype. I tried the ever so coveted Mazapan Latté and have immediately become a return customer. It smelled so delicious even as far asoutside the front door. It was hard trying to stick to a coffee! Not only was the coffee well tampered and deliciously flavored (bits of mazapan? yum!) but the staff was so kind. I came in with my small daughter and we were welcomed so kindly. The shop was cozy, I was encouraged to take my time and ask questions about the menu. The sweet cashier helped distract my daughter while I was fumbling with one hand trying to pay. that little act of kindness really made me smile. it's Kind of tucked away between the county office building and winco, this is a clovis hidden gem for sure! read more

Below is my review during my initial visit. Service: Greeted pleasantly by the baristas (which one of them was the owner). The preparation of the drink was prompt with just the right temperature to be consumed immediately. 5 of 5 stars Food/Offering: Asked about recommendation and noted that I have a slight lactose intolerance so any dairy based product needs to be swapped out with either almond or oat milk. The owner recommended the Oat N Brown - which so happens to be one of their popular drinks on the menu. This drink was very good and prepared in a way that you can equally taste the different flavors of brown sugar, cinnamon and oat milk. 5 of 5 stars Overall: This place had a good following up until a new SBUX was established. It still brings in the loyal customers but I'm sure their business was impacted. Simply good coffee. I went in on a Friday afternoon around lunch hour and there was quite a crowd. With only two employees it was a bit of a wait for my coffee but they were both so nice and soft spoken you really couldn't be mad, so I suggest go when you're not in a hurry. I ordered an ice oat n brown iced coffee and it was delish, not too sweet and I can taste the coffee in it ! Some places the drinks are so sweet the coffee gets lost but not here. Ambiance is very relaxed, jazz music playing in the background. Tables for studying or chatting with friends. There were also plants on the walls for sale as well as monkey dog merch. Discovered this place over the summer. Since it's on my way to work, it became my go to spot for coffee in the mornings. The first few times I went, service was great. Baristas would say hello or at least share a smile. However, service has declined dramatically. I usually place my order online so when I get there it's usually ready. The last couple of times I have went I barely even got acknowledged. We are lucky to live in Fresno/Clovis which has plenty of great coffee shops. I value great coffee AND service.
