I had no clue this cafe was here! It's beautiful inside and so artistic. Love the Frida murals and the seating areas. It feels so comfortable and relaxing with the greenery and spaciousness. I wasn't planning on stopping by here. I was at WSS when I noticed it, I walked over and just got a cafe de la olla on ice. It came out to $3.25. It tasted good and no cream was needed. It was a tad sweet from the brown sugar. But it was softened by the cinnamon and cloves. Overall it was tasty; I would just prefer it less sweet. No complaints on service. That cashier was kind. Certainly another visit is warranted after seeing pictures of the avocado toast- I think that would pair nicely with a ceremonial matcha. read more

Con Azucar Café offers plenty of comfortable space to get some work done along with amazing photos ops like Frida Kahlo murals and an indoor flower swing. Not for swinging, for pics! I ordered an iced white mocha with an extra shot of espresso and a bag of mini pan dulce. The drink was very good and smooth, but a little on the sweet side. Thankfully the espresso helped to mild down the flavor. The mini pan dulce is not only adorable but also very good! Moist and flavorful with my favorite being the pig shaped bread. First impression was super insta worthy and clean! Impressively clean! We walked around took pictures and then went to the counter. We were pleasantly greeted by Jorge who gave recommendations for both pan and drinks. I went with Jorge's recommendation of the Mocha Mexicano and opted per his recommendation to enjoy it hot. The swing is for photo and selfie opportunities, the fridge is the entrance to the restroom, the emerald green seating is inviting, and of course the food and drink are wonderfully and uniquely served. I really like this place because they sell mini breads in a bag. A bag is like 5 or 6 bucks and you get a few mini breads. They're so cute colorful fresh and delicious. I've also tried their horchata coffee and agua Fresca. The coffee flavors are very unique and tasty. The agua frescas are perfect on a hot summer day. They will actually hook up the drink with tajin and chamoy if you want it. My only gripe is the parking it's horrible. read more

Returning customer here! After visiting a few weeks ago, had a sudden craving for concha and coffee. Had brunch with my husband and kids. Arrived just before 10am and there was no line the kind worker at the front greeted us upon entry. We ordered the Torta de Jamo which we had the first time we came it was delicious. Today we tried their club sandwich they told us they only had the torta bread. We also ordered a brown sugar shaken expresso and per recommendation Mexicano with almond milk also the mini bread in a bag for $6.99. This time we were given a receipt and all of our food came out not long after we ordered. The sandwiches were huge. The Club Sandwich was enormous with the torta bread it had bread in-between the sandwich it was loaded with topping and so flavorful. The mini bread bag was so cute and just as good at the regular sized one we ate everything in one sitting, it's quite addicting. The Mexicano with almond milk (ordered by recommendation) was yum love the cinnamon taste. There were definitely great improvements since our last visit. The workers are nice and food and drinks are oh so delicious! This place had easily become one of our favorite places to eat and have coffee and bread. Will be returning again soon! read more

For valentines we started our day with trying out this coffee spot. I loved the decor and the theme. Unfortunately our good experience takes a turn there. The cashier did not speak or welcome us in as we approached the counter. When asked what were the favorite/top drinks she answered our question and then looked away as if we were taking too long. We were the only customers and were up there 5 minutes max. She messed up my drink twice and each time made it seem like it was my fault. This is a lovely cafe with so much seating. I had a meeting here on a weekday and it was perfect. The music was not too loud and the seating area is set up very nicely. They have a wide selection of drinks and food and it came out in efficient time. The chai tea was delicious. So we happened to be in the area and saw this Mexican style coffee shop. We heard Modesto was getting one so we wanted to try it. The cashier didn't have much of a personality. Let's move on to the pan dulce. They were fine. Definitely was the best part of this place. As for the coffee. The iced cafe de olla was watered down coffee that just down right sucked. To the point the wife didn't drink it. I went with the abuelita chocolate with a shot of espresso. I was not impressed at all. If I was judging the coffee alone, this would have been a one star. The both times I've went, the cashier was friendly and patient with us changing our orders and/or answering our questions. The mini pan dulce is good! I was surprised to find out that con azúcar had a location in Fresno! I have been to other locations in the bay and when I found out they had one here I immediately made a plan to drop by when I'd be in town. My husband and I arrived early in the AM with no line. Keep in mind that this location is inside an ice cream shop so it's easy to get confused. The decor is just as cool as the other location just on a smaller scale but the taste is not lacking. Instead we got the "to go" experience in coffee cups that the lids didn't even fit and nothing special to them literally a gas station style coffee that was triple the amount. For instance the cafè de olla is advertised in a clay cup when eating in. I ordered it and it came in a to go cup and was literally the worst coffee I have ever had. I never post negative reviews because they can be hurtful to a business. However after my experience and driving as far as I did I am posting so others know what to expect when ordering here. I was really excited to see that Fresno finally got Con Azucar Cafe! However, I was a bit disappointed with the customer service. One of the employees, whose name I didn't catch, was noticeably rude--not just to me, but to other customers as well. I also noticed a lack of smiles or friendly interactions from the staff. I truly hope that when hiring, there's an emphasis on both coffee knowledge and excellent customer service, as a positive attitude makes all the difference.
