Maybe there is another David at this company. I'm not writing to berate this company but to provide my experience so that not everything is all well as it seems from other reviews. David showed up at my door. I thought he was rude and disrespectful. Did not even say, "Hello my name is". Unlike the reps from other companies, he did not provide any information to educate the consumer. He did not bring a proper ladder to look in my attic. He refused to look under the house. He worked on 20,000 jobs like mine (to remove rat infested insulation, sanitize, and install new insulation), so he did not need to look. His company did 6-7 jobs a day. I asked how big his company was. His answer was simply, "Big". I asked, how many employees. He said 13. He emailed me a quote the same day. For a 2,100 sq. ft. house with no "active" infestation, he quoted me $7,400. Another company did a very through survey of my property, explained in detail, and quoted me less than half that. I was extremely happy with the service I received. First I heard noise in the walls then I inspected the home and found rat droppings, seen a couple of rats so then I called 3 different companies to come inspect and quote my entire home to include my garage to include the garage rafters. The cost was high from all three companies. I decided to go with Rodent Stop because of the warranty after reading there quote there were some gray areas in the quote so I requested them to rewrite what I considered the gray areas and they did, they also did the job quickly, efficiently and left my home clean from there work. They came in the first day and cleared, cleaned and set traps, plugged all opening inside and out, in my attic and as per our agreement I removed everything from the garage attic and they cleaned, set traps after several times coming back and they were sure there were no more rats in the home or garage they sanitized and installed installation. If you can find another company do so. Dealing with Rodent Stop has been almost as bad as the rats I hired them to take care of. I called Rodent Stop back in July to clean and seal my attic from rats that had gotten in. Initially they were a dream to deal with, Zeev the owner came out early on a Saturday morning to write up an estimate. I was assured EVERYTHING will be taken care of. We went over what services I would need. I was going to have the whole attic cleaned, sealed up, & would require new insulation in the attic. The initial price he quoted was very fair and I asked again if this would include everything discussed...he seemed almost offended that I was asking and again assured me "Everything is going to be done. Do not worry" I was told he would need to send his crew to come rip out the insulation so they can see any possible entry points and set up traps. I asked when payment was due and was told 'when all work is complete...i want to make sure you are happy and that is when our job is done" I felt they were the right choice. A crew of 8 showed up about a half hour later and work began immediately. The guy in charge quickly was asking for payment. I told him Zeev said no payment would be due until the work was completed he calls Zeev...strangely enough it turns out the estimate did not included insulation removal or re-installation in the price although it did list it. Fair enough...I just want the problem fixed and had already started work and I couldn't understand paying thousands just to have my attic vacuumed and not remove soiled insulation so told them to go ahead with the insulation job too. At the end of the day guy in charge asks how I want to pay...I say well you haven't laid new insulation yet...so when you complete that. I was then told "Oh well, that is another service. But let us do our check ups and we can discuss then". Upfront honest estimate...yeah I think not. It is one thing to miss an item on an estimate but to have 2/3rds of the costs missing that is a huge error on their part...or shady business practice. A few days pass and one morning his people show up unannounced calling me asking to come in...however I was at work. I told him that no contacted me about setting up a time to come. The guy apologized and set a new time to come. However, the next 2 times after the guys that were sent to check traps no one contacted me to set a times. I left voice mails for Zeev on his cell phone and at the office. Unfortunately I didn't hear back to discuss his lackluster business practices. I am still baffled by an estimate that states "attic clean up & sensitization", yet fails to include removal of urine and feces soaked insulation...as this seems like a pretty big piece of the clean up puzzle. I personally cant see how its possible to do one and not the other so of course I paid. I understand the pricing for sanitizing and clean up which that in itself was worth the price of that portion. But the rest of what they charge for is very subjective and utter crap. The majority of the sealing (in my case) was able to be done from the attic but a few cans of spray foam and wire mesh is how they sealed openings...it works but looks horrible. As for the Insulation, Home Depot sent someone out and did it for less half the price Rodent Stop attempted to charge. They do a great job cleaning out the attic...not one rat turd in sight. Zev, just by reading your response back to your customers, I can already tell how rude you can become. Please browse through yelp on how other professionals response to negative criticism. They do not respond the way you do. They do not response with CAPS to express their frustration or to make an emphasis. He gets very defensive on the phone and not very polite. Tries to rough talk you, just not the friendliest person to talk to. Very loud and attacking. I did not even manage to make an appointment. I tried to compare several local businesses and asked for a range - and was told that they do not provide the range. As they offered to come during business day, 10-12, it meant that their free estimate will cost me at least two hours - not considering my drive. I asked to let me know the pricing per hour, plus materials - and was told it is impossible. As it is not seriously a rocket science - and I do indeed work with rocket science - I pressed and asked for the basis of pricing, and explained that we do such things in engineering - after which I was told that engineering, while complicated, is not physical labor - and when I said that indeed it might be deadly because of stress - I was called an abuser. The company lacks logic, hides pricing scheme, and calls calling potential customer abusers. Maybe they do exemplary service, but they do not provide the basis for pricing - and this indeed gives place for abuse. As I had in the past instances that I am priced based on the area where I live, I do not go with non-transparent companies - and do not recommend it to anyone. I have to edit in response to my review. Heaher G., I already have three quotes with substantiation for pricing. Also, you DO pay your people based on certain basis and you give me a quote based on certain actions. While the amount of labor can differ, in equal pricing you would base it on the formula pay per hour + materials + administrative costs + profit. In all that conversation you indeed acted as human, and no - please feel free to challenge me in court for de-humanization. I did not call you names, I did not degrade your profession - you started telling me that that your service is somehow special and I have no idea. It is funny as usually I do those things myself. I worked with about five or six different industries' business processes including manufacturing and small businesses - and you did not even let me tell you that indeed sometimes I do work with the engineering, as you really were in a rush to tell me that no, computer programming is something people do sitting at the computer. I will tell you - not really, not all the job is necessarily done in front of the computer . Yet, the formula above does not change based on business. There are always the disclosures that are basis for the pricing change, but the other companies ask the following: the size, the rodents sightings, whether I want to eliminate them only or seal the entrance/exit points - and provide the initial quote based on these parameters. I have emails. What do you have? You reacted strange, seriously. Why is it that when you find out you have rats you freak out? Is it their inky black, shadowy bodies darting across your kitchen at midnight raiding whatever fell behind your stove? Is it that moment when you finally concede that you were not dreaming - you had been hearing scratching noises in the walls at 4 am? Is it that oddly permeating, slightly musky smell when your dishwasher is running and you realize that the little rat bastards were all cuddled and warm together living in the insulation- loving each other up, making babies, confusing hot rushing dishwashing as their hot sexy waterbed? Is it deep DNA memories of the plague? Rat fleas destroying your pampered white dog's fur? Whatever it is I want them the fcck out of my house. And now. Like yesterday now. Not next Tuesday between 9 and 1 now. Not now-ish. I went to THREE different rat removal companies over 6 months. The first one charged me crazy money to staple gun screens in every single little hole and crevasse all over the exterior of my house: the roof line, the doors, odd outdoor closets that hide captive, unused rakes and ominous cobwebs. They placed traps (the old school kind) swabbed with peanut butter (rats are not fans of cheese). They nabbed a baker's dozen. They came twice. Never called. Didn't give a rat's ass. Company number two came and jammed dog food on the spiky stabber of the old school traps (the common denominator here) and applied a clear poisonous liquid on all pipes coming from the outside (?). Caught one. Called them a couple of times because we still had rats. Nada. The reality is, that company didn't make the big rat money because they didn't get the gig patching up the holes with the screens. Which is the whole deal at every single rat place you go to and they milk you for it.. Rat poop kept appearing. My son gets a bug bite that I'm convinced is from a mite and my darling will be paralyzed from the disease any day.. I tearfully investigate other exterminators. I needed someone who just does rats. The guys who kill bugs are pussies; Spray some poison and go home to smoke a bowl of arsenic laden crap and fall asleep with a beer can. They don't do the murder of mammals thing. Add an electrical thingy bob that I guess plays heavy metal rat music (my spoiled fatties prefer Jazz) - they went nuts - and not peanuts. Next night no sign of rats!! Sleepily walking into my bathroom in the pitch, glancing in the blurry dark mirror I caught sight of the final furry fccker.. perhaps the brave captain escaping after all the women and children were safe, jumping ship by actually climbing up the tile wall and squeeze his slinky ass through the window. Scared the bejesus out of me.. REDRUM Zev from Rodentsstop comes back. Dutifully. Armed. Opens up the ceiling in the kitchen.No really. he OPENED UP THE CEILING.. Cleans up more poop, more ammonia. throws another bomb. More traps, more costco peanut butter. Closes up another hole. This man is a soldier! My jaw dropped when I got an estimate for several thousands dollars! $7000 to be exact if we wanted the whole entire job to be done. We recently bought a house, and our inspector told us there was a significant rat problem. We called Rodents Stop on a recommendation from a friend. They came out and verified what our inspector said after a thorough inspection. I called Rodent Stop after calling many companies that said they did rodent abatement. Most just block attic and crawl space places and do little else. Just a few, including Rodent Stop really go through your entire house and block everything. This includes even spaces in your kitchen and garage where rodents can enter. They did this for me, replaced some of my insulation in attic, helped me clean out garage. They spent hours. And they have come back a few times to check and once I even had 2 more dead rats. The true test will be if I call them back in maybe a year or two. Will they still honor the contract? These people saved me from one of the grossest things that ever happened to me: a rat ON MY PILLOW!! My cat caught it in the night and brought it to me and my husband. At 2 a.m. I found myself screaming and jumping out of bed. I didn't sleep in my bed for 4 days, while I frantically searched around for a company to help. Here's the story: We realized we had rats in our attic. Our attic only houses the ac unit, etc, and you have to basically walk hunched over up in it. It's about 700 square feet of space that is full of insulation, ducts, a/c and furnace, etc. The contractor who helped redo our house a year ago never mentioned how old the insulation was, nor that there were some gaps to the outside. I loved our contractor, but it's just one of the things that they didn't bring up while renovating, even though they did duct and electrical work up there. So when we realized we had some access from the outside in, our handyman came and patched up the holes on the exterior of the house. He told us to set traps because now they will be stuck in the attic, unable to get out. Of course my husband was in charge of all this, and it was on a Friday and he forgot to go get traps to set. So apparently a rat got trapped up there and found a small opening in a part of our house where it could get in. Luckily we had the great Wayne Sanchez cat waiting for his first "live catch" in 10 years. He obviously went to town and brought us his "gift." Good boy, but...um, GROSS. So then we were left with a decision: we could get traps and start dealing with all this with our handyman to seal up the holes and the local exterminator guy who sprays for bugs, etc, or we could decide to do it right. My husband went up and said there were rat droppings all over the place, which means the insulation was probably urine-soaked over years of time as well. Our house is from 1939 and who knows if the insulation was ever replaced. We have two kids under 5 and the thought of them breathing the infested air, (and the fact I had a rat in my bed) was all too much. So after setting traps and over the course of a week or two, checking them, and then us noticing there were still droppings outside the house near this one area, they came back with a 40-foot ladder and sealed up that spot as well. We are living in the equivalent of Ft.Knox now and I'm sleeping soundly in my bed, with a lifetime guarantee that if I ever see a rat again, they will be here in a minute to fix it. The only place where you may have to initiate some customer service on your own is when they come check the traps. I was never clear when they would come back and see when/if the traps tripped. So I found that a little confusing. I think they should have a system where they book a time with you to come back and check say, 2 times a week the first week, then 1 time a week the second, etc. and give you an exact window as to when they will be there. I had to call them and ask them to come out and check on one occasion. But when I did call, they were immediately responsive. At the time, about a year ago, these guys were the only game in town. Plenty of insect guys, but rat specialists were few and far between. We've had rats around and inside the garage for years. Sometimes in the attic. I've set traps, etc. , and while I caught many, the dirty little rodents just kept coming. I could not go outside without smelling that rat smell in the garage. While I was kinda enjoying catching them, I could see that I was losing the battle. These guys came out, looked around, listened to my complaints and quoted a price (This is where the one star was lost). The price was based on square footage of my home, which is approximately 2900 sq. ft. I just about fainted when I heard their quote. Maybe I was just naive about this sort of thing. We heard unusual noises coming from one of our bathroom walls. It sounded as something chomping away at the wood. We call Rodent Stop for a quote based on their Yelp reviews. Their rep, Max, came and gave us a quote for the following: Cleaning and disinfecting the crawl space under the house, the attic which included removing the existing insulation, closing all access points, vents, ect around the house, setting up and monitoring mouse traps throughout the attic and under the house. They offer a lifetime warranty. The service was pricey but well worth it. The crew was very professional and prompt. My hardwood floors were covered as well as the walls leading to the attic. Sharon, the customer service rep, was outstanding. She made sure all my questions were answered and followed up with all my concerns. I didn't have Rodent Stop do my insulation because there was a misunderstanding about the price but they were available to make recommendations as to the type of insulation materials to get. Also, while working under the house, one crew member noted that the A/C pipes needed repairs. At first I though they were just finding things to charge me for but they said they don't do those types of repairs and that I should call an A/C repairman. Wow! I was impressed. I called the A/C repairman and he confirmed what Rodent Stop had said. It's been about 4 months since Rodent Stop finished the work at my house and I haven't had a problem with rodents. I had a recurrent problem of rats winding up in my attic and had tried a couple of other pest control services over a few years, with the problem always recurring after a short while. I decided to give Rodents Stop a try after reading some of the reviews here on Yelp. They came out and explained how the (essentially temporary) measures I'd taken before would never really keep the rats away for good, due to the scents/pheromones that were remaining in my attic (leading them to keep trying to find ways in). They showed me where rats had chewed through screens I'd had installed since the last company had been there. We wound up ripping out insulation in the attic, cleaning everything out (and this was an important point), re-insulating, sealing ALL inlets into the attic and crawlspaces, and laying new traps. It wasn't my cheapest experience with pest control, but it (so far) has been the only one that has worked -- and I've waited about 6 months since their service to write this review, and I'm still rat free (thanks!). It is also important to me that they stand behind their guarantee, so in the (hopefully unlikely) event my uninvited guest return, I'll be giving Rodents Stop a call again. This is what I shared with my landlord, who I am grateful for hiring Rodent Stop! The Rodent Stop crew was incredible yesterday! They were here from 8:30 - 3:30 and very thorough. They found one more dead rat in the attic. They thoroughly cleaned and re-screened the attic. They set new traps. They sprayed a deodorizing pheromone spray in the attic that was a pleasant smell and non-toxic. They were under the house for sometime. They replaced the crawl space door and screened any opening underneath and around the outside of the house. They set the possum trap with apple just inside the crawl space door on the inside of the crawl space. They'll be back on Monday to check the traps. They don't think it's living under the house. They think it's probably living in the base of one palm tree on the right side yard towards the back or in a big hole, also on the right side yard. They work with the house and not in the yard, but recommended that these areas be secured once the possum is caught. They also removed some old wood that was falling off under the bay window the living room and secured that space. They were also on the roof for some time. I know they secured the exhaust from the stove, I could hear them. They inspected the kitchen, moving appliances and discovered activity behind one refrigerator. They set a trap.They were so through! They even lowered the flap on the bottom of the front door since there was an opening into the house. Their supervisor, Raymond, was this younger guy who was very present, professional and knew what he was doing. Raymond told me that many of their customers come to them after they've seen no results with other companies. So glad we went this route first. I highly recommend them!! My initial phone call was promptly returned by the owner, David, and he was immediately likeable and responsive to what I needed. I was redoing a guest house unit on my property so that my son could live in it, and I knew the attic space needed attention as it had not been touched in perhaps 50 years. I knew that rats had infiltrated the space at some point, and it was full of dust and debris caused by a re-roofing job done 5 years ago. I wanted the attic space spotless, sanitized and well-insulated. Boy did I find the right folks to call. The pricing is standardized based on square footage. I found it to be not only fair, but downright cheap given the dirty nature of the work and the expertise this company brings to the table. The crew assigned to my project went right to work, and did not come up for air until the job was done. Two workers went under the guest house to seal up any points of entry, and another two workers went up into the attic to pull out the old insulation and vacuum every molecule of debris. I bought them lunch from Domino's and you would have thought I had given them a pot of gold when you saw how appreciative they were, and they repaid my generosity by working that much harder to make everything perfect. Once the attic space was cleaned, they proceeded to sanitize it with a special chemical to ensure the space was as clean as if it had just been constructed. They then set traps and waited a few days to make sure no rodents came back into the space. Once they were satisfied that there were no points of entry, they returned and installed the insulation. First rate job. So impressed was I with their work that I decided to let them do the attic of my main house (which was considerably larger). Again, the added expense paled in comparison to the satisfaction of knowing that the area right above my head did not have an ounce of dirt or rat droppings. The insulation they install is R-30 and very, very thick. I have been to Home Depot looking to find similar insulation, but stuff of this quality is not available to the public. Whatever I paid for the work will be off-set in a little time by reduced energy costs. The foreman on the job was named Max, and he was a star every step of the way! As noted, the owner, David, runs a tight ship, but that is what you want when it comes to a third-party contractor. My job took longer than he expected, and it cost him more money and manpower than he had anticipated, thereby cutting into his profit margin. Anyone else would have asked for more money. Not David. He honored the contract price and not only met, but far exceeded my expectations every respect. My experience with Rodents Stop could not have been better. Rodents Stop is worth every penny. I live on a large piece of property and when my neighbors started cleaning up their yard...old cars trailers and junk...their rats came to my house. My husband passed away several years ago so I was left to deal with the HORRIFIC problem my self. The rats were fearless and I started seeing babies, 1/2 eaten fruit on the kitchen counter, and even a dropping on my pillow....YUCK!. Rodent Stop...stopped my nightmare! The closed up every crack and opening, they went up, they went down, they went under and on top of the house. they continued to come back and remove traps and check the areas. We had a rat infestation in the past, and we saw that a couple of openings near the bottom of the house were opened. Naturally we were worried that the rats were back. We contacted Rodents Stop after reading so many positive reviews on Yelp. Zeev came out the very next day (today). He was exactly on time and called before he came. He did a thorough inspection of the house, looking at all the areas that might be suspicious. Great News! He said we don't have a rat problem! Not only did he not try to sell us something we didn't need, he even left us a bottle of natural spray to use around the openings near the bottom of the house! Found a decapitated mouse in the a/c compressor outside the house and saw a live one when I opened the unit to clean out the dead one. I called Rodents Stop just to make sure they didn't make their way up the hosing and into my attic. David was very accommodating with my schedule and Zev came out the next day. He didn't find anything and offered some free advice for home remedies if I wanted to keep them away. Wasn't charged for the inspection and no pushy sales pitches. I used rodent stop for a mice problem I discovered about a year ago now. They were responsive and offered great customer service. I had hired another company to set traps in my attic, in my house, and under my house to kill the rats. This company also closed several openings on my roof and under the crawl space of my house. However, the rats kept coming back. In fact, it became clear that the rat population in my attic was increasing. This other company did not do a sufficient job in closing the openings. There were smaller openings that the company missed. In addition, because the rats had firmly established nests in the attic and had urinated and dropped feces all over the attic, the rats would continue to come back to the place they knew and loved even if we kept putting in traps. The solution proposed by Rodents Stop made sense. 1. Make sure to close every single opening; 2. Remove all the contaminated insulation and sanitize the attic; 3. Lay traps for a couple of weeks to make sure every rat was killed; 4. Install new insulation. It was important to clean the attic and lay new insulation because the smell of the old insulation was so attractive to the rats that new rats would constantly and continually try to get back in the attic; 5. In addition to destroying my insulation, the rats had contaminated and destroyed my air ducts, which were poor quality. Therefore, as part of the job, I had new ducts installed. Since the boys at Rodents Stop were already putting in new insulation, the cost of putting in new ducts was economical. At the end of the day, my attic is now rat free. I am relieved that no contaminants are infiltrating my house through the air conditioning and heating system. Because I have new ducts, the system actually has much better air flow. The workers were professional and courteous. They removed all of the old material in a very clean way, which means that none of the old material drifted into rooms of my house or was left outside. And finally, I believe the price was right. While this type of project is not inexpensive, I believe I got a fair price for the materials, the labor, and the disposal of everything.
