Just wanted to say thank you to the staff for my weekend order. You guys were amazing. Took my order before opening and even called me back to verify it. You also called back to see what condiments I needed, which I didn't even bother thinking of. I trusted the reviews with you guys and this time it didn't fail! As far as what we ordered, we had the lobster tail, king crab, shrimp, mussels, sausage, and corn. Two bags were mild and one bag was just garlic butter. Didn't really care for the butter only. The mild sauce however was on point! And it was already a little spicy so it was perfect. The corn too was soo good lol I liked it better than the crab and shrimp. One thing I think could've been done better was the sausage. IDK I just thought it wasn't that good of a quality meat. It just tasted weird, and usually the sausage is what I eat the most. I came in for my son's birthday the service was quick and amazing. He loved his king crab legs, mussels, clams, and shrimp. I got the fish and shrimp dinner they give you a huge basket of fries and the pollock was so tasty. The shrimp is breaded and good size. It was very inexpensive for a party of 7. Someone recommended I try rockstar shrimp so I did. When I visited I was seated right away and had amazing customer service. I ordered oysters which were $10. They came with lemon, salt, and Tabasco. The oysters were AMAZING! If you're trying this place and like oysters I'd definitely recommend them. I also ordered the charbroiled shrimp with rice which I would not recommend trying. Not only was the shrimp hard to peel it seemed way over cooked. I also had the issue that a lot of people mentioned in reviews. They did not devein the shrimp which grossed me out. The sauce was okay but nothing special and the rice was good. I've been craving crab and my son stopped here to pick some up for me. I got the king crab legs with be gentle sauce. I'm glad I ate them at home because it was messy but delicious. So this review is long overdue! I have been going here since they basically opened a couple years back. I use to go more often when I lived closer but since moving haven't gone as often as I'd like. I remember getting the "kick me" shrimp and their fries. It is comparable to their competitors and they always provide commendable service. Location is good too with lots of parking. They finally opened up a restaurant for this place! I came here for the grand opening around 8pm and was seated right away. The restaurant has a spacious parking lot, so parking's not a problem (Unlike places such as Boiling crab with their tiny lots). Their food is comparable to Boiling Crab and other Cajun styled seafood restaurants and it's conveniently close to UCR. Service was terrific as my server frequently refilled my drink and asked if there was anything else he could get. i'll most definitely be coming back to this place when i'm in Riverside again. Quick overview: Overall this place is okay. Pretty standard pricing for a place like this. Taste was okay but not amazing. I would consider going again but if given the choice I'd make the trip to a Boiling Crab - but this place isn't a horrible alternative if you're close by and will satisfy your Cajun food craving. Food: 3/5 Generally speaking the food is decent. They have good size shrimp and decent quality. However, I found the sauce a bit too powdery. At other places I usually ask for sauce on the side but there was no need to do that - they put plenty of sauce in the bag. Cajun fries were just okay, pretty bland and not much Cajun taste. It would have been nice to have spice options as well. We ordered our shrimp at the Holy Moly spice level but it's not spicy at all so that was a definite let down. They provided plenty of salt, pepper, and limes which was nice. Service: 3/5 The servers were pretty nice and attentive. They kept our waters filled, asked if we wanted another beer, and answered all the questions we had. After a shift change they were pretty slow with getting us our check but when we finally got their attention they would help us out pretty quickly. The space: 2/5 The space was pretty rundown. Outside of the men's restroom there was a sign apologizing for a foul odor coming from the vents. A lot of people like to wash their hands after eating at places like this but with only single restrooms, it built up lines of people waiting to wash their hands. Very good. As a raging cajun I am highly critical of any seafood. But this was delicious. The wait staff was excellent. They immediately greeted me and and brought water right away. I did go at an off time about 3 so it was empty , but usually at these times staff are often complacent. Waitress came regularly to my table. My first time tonight trying out this place. I got to say first off it was clean. The food was delicious just would suggest you guys selling garlic bread. Also maybe cooking the shrimp a little longer. Didnt like that ot was freshly hot, the shell was sticking and I could not take off the skin off my shrimp. My first time eating at this place & also first time eating King Crab ever, but I'm pretty sure the crab shell is suppose to crack when you try & crack it, not bend. I usually order snow crab at other restaurants, so I'm not sure if the shell is suppose to be that soft. Literally uncrackable. They also do not provide scissors, which makes it VERY hard to eat because the shell doesn't crack, just bends. It also did not taste fresh. Had that old seafood taste. The shrimp was good & the sauce was okay.The waitress was very nice & friendly & provided great service. Overall, if you know about another place like this, go there. In addition to all the girls here being super friendly, I believe Rockstar Shrimp offers the most reasonable prices in the area when it comes to ordering their shrimp by the pound. Their "be gentle" sauce is just okay--supposed to be mild; not spicy at all--but will get the job done whenever you're craving cajun seafood. I would say the highlight here would be their cajun fries! Only $4 for a huge portion. Definitely get these to-go because I feel like they give you more since they put it in a paper bag. So delicious!! Actually, their whole to-go process is great cause they give you everything you need to set up at home--bibs, table covers, and all the condiments you'd need. When I sat down I saw a problem already. The seats were so worn down. It was over 100 degrees so of course I wore shorts. Big mistake, the rips from the seat was pinching my legs. I should've left when I had the chance to. The food was so disgusting. I honestly don't know how it has four stars. I ordered peeled shrimps, half pound sausage and their kick it sauce which is suppose to be the most popular. That sauce is by far the worst I've ever had. It had no flavor and tasted like all cayenne pepper. The sausages was a big disappointment. How do you go wrong with sausages. It was under cook and had a weird texture to it. This place is a knock-off of Boiling Crab. I've tried other copy-cat places. But sadly, this place was the worst. I got 1lb of shrimp in their mild sauce ($11), rice ($2), and cajun fries ($4). My favorite part of Boiling Crab-esque places is the sauce. The sauce must be tangy, full of garlic, buttery, smooth, and have lots and lots of depth! I love mixing the sauce in the rice and dipping my shrimp in them. HOWEVER, the sauce at this place was bland and felt like it lacked something. Usually I finish all the rice - that's how much I love the sauce - but this time, I just ate maybe two spoonful's and stopped. The sauce was just not great. The shrimps were juicy and not dry, but it was just bland. The cajun fries were okay - very fresh but lacking the cajun kick. I think the only pro's about this place is the price. I think this place has the cheapest shrimp I've seen around the area. Also, they have headless shrimps for $13, and the waitress said you get 2 more shrimps per head, compared to the normal shrimps. I recommend this place to people who are looking for cheap, bland Boiling Crab-like food, but don't expect the same quality and delicious sauce. read more

Hm.. so I've been here before and I don't remember it being so underwhelming. I was craving crawfish and I called a different store closer to where I live and they were out of crawfish so I called Rockstar Shrimp and they said they had some. So a friend and I ordered some crawfish and I got the lil bit of everything with came with shrimp, mussels & clams. I got it so I could get a variety. I also ordered some sausage and rice. I got the mild spice but I feel like I could have handled medium since mild wasn't spicy at all. I honestly just wasn't feelin the flavor of the sauce. It was really saucy. I understand that seafood boils have a ton of flavor, but this one was just so salty it was almost unbearable. The sauce was huge and it looked like it exploded through the casing. It was NOT good, I'm sorry. I mean we did tell the worker and she offered to give us fresh ones since the sausage was over cooked but I didn't want to go through the hassle. The shrimp was good, clams were good, and mussels were good. The rice was a bit hard, it needed more water or something. And I was so excited about the crawfish but it tasted frozen. I'm not sure if it was frozen crawfish or what but there was a distinct frozen flavor to the crawfish. Overall, my craving wasn't satisfied. On a bright note, the service was good! I'm sure it's because of COVID but the quality of the food really went down. I used to eat here a lot when I lived in the area. We recently moved back into the area and decided to order take out. The sausage was mushy like a mashed potato which I had read in someone else's review but decided to give it a try anyways since I have such good memories of their food being delicious. The potatoes were also really overcooked, all the skin had peeled off and the potatoes were disintegrating. The muscles had all fallen out of their shells which fine that happens but I don't think my husband even liked the shrimp because he hardly ate any and we had a ton of left overs which we usually don't have.
