I called this morning and they were able to come out within 4 hours. Quickly repaired a clogged toilet, and checked faucets and other toilets to be sure they were working. They even noticed the door handle was a bit loose and tightened that up. Great experience - thank you!! read more

Great service! The plumbers were knowledgeable, courteous, and explained things in a way that was easily understandable. They worked quickly, and when they finished, I was pleasantly surprised that they cleaned up, which I assumed we would have to do. We even shared a few laughs. Highly recommend. read more

We had a problem with water coming out of the shower and into the living room through the wall (ruined our hardwood floor, but that's a different story...). Sam from Rocket Plumbing came in, identified the problem and fixed it in less than an hour! The price was reasonable. A few weeks later we suspected that something else was going on, Sam came again and checked that everything is working properly at no extra cost. That's awesome customer service! read more

Have had to call Rocket Plumbing three times in the past year and each and every time they have delivered excellent service. Not only have they been friendly and prompt (both the dispatcher and the plumbers), but the plumbers (previously Anthony and most recently Nick) have also been extremely educational. Each time I have learned something new, and they are very patient with me to make sure I understand so I know exactly what is causing the problem and how to avoid and/or fix in the future. It's just great to know exactly who to call in times of need like this! Thank you, Rocket Plumbing! read more

I wanted to update. After I posted my review, the owner Brian reached out to me. He addressed my questions and concerns. Turns out the company recently changed software and there was a mix up in receiving our estimate. We were pleased with the estimate and scheduled the work. The team was on time, efficient, practiced proper safety and polite. Despite the initial miscommunications we were very pleased with the work of Rocket plumbing and would use them again and recommend them to family and friends. read more

These guys are great. Response time is extremely quick (usually within a day), and their staff is very professional and friendly. I like their per-task pricing -- it makes a lot more sense than charging by the hour because that way you're not hosed if they have to run off site and pick up parts or if a task takes longer than anticipated. They explain the rationale for the repairs very clearly so you know why they're doing what they're doing (and so you know they're not pulling the wool over your eyes). Have dealt with them a number of times and they're my go-to plumbers. read more

Found myself in a bit of a pickle with my business. We have a great neighborhood bar, that's also a destination for people visiting Chicago from Wisconsin. I got a call from a member of my support staff telling me that the main men's room urinal wasn't draining properly and actually overflowing onto the floor. It was a busy Friday night, but we had no choice but to tape off the urinal for the rest of the evening. When I came in to the bar early Saturday morning, I tested the urinal with a few flushes to see if I could replicate the problem. Sure enough, as expected, the thing quickly filled up and would not drain. I did a quick Yelp search and found Rocket Plumbing. The positive reviews they had under their belt already, coupled with the fact that they were ultra close to us geographically, told me that I found a good company. I called them and told them what was happening and I was told that there was an opening on their schedule at about 12:30, but if they finished the previous job early, they would stop by before that. A couple guys showed up about an hour or so before they thought they would be able to originally, but when you are worried about your patrons not having the full service conveniences we normally have, you are extremely excited to see the expert plumbers arrive to rescue the business. And that is exactly what they did! These guys were great! They assessed the issue, explained to me exactly what needed to be done, and fixed it! I was sincerely impressed with every facet of this experience. They came out on a rainy Saturday, quicker than I could have hoped for, fixed it completely, and left the space cleaner or as clean as it was when they arrived. They also tested it several times to ensure it wasn't going to revert to not working after they left. The clincher for me was that they also tested the sink AND the toilet (which seemed fine to me before hand) just to make sure EVERYTHING was working properly! I would say they not only exceed all of my expectations, but they went above and beyond for us! The awesome part that I didn't even mention yet was the reasonable price. I had convinced myself in my mind that this was going to cost a small fortune given the fact that they came out on a Saturday for an emergency call at the last minute. But much to my surprise, the bill was extremely reasonable and much cheaper than I imagined. Ladies and gents, we have found our new plumber!! Thank you Rocket Plumbing!! read more

We returned from being away for Christmas to come home to a frozen hot water pipe in our kitchen. I reached out to Rocket Plumbing via the yelp quote/messenger. I was able to chat to the owner and I believe it was on New Year's Eve! He was able to get me on the schedule on "standby" for 11am. Well, Danny showed up right at 11am! He was great and explained what he was doing and answered all of my questions. Thankfully the water line thawed quickly (some can take longer he said). He even spoke to my husband on speaker phone to explain what happened. I asked a question about water pressure in our master shower and he even suggested a brand of shower head to buy. Danny and Brian (the owner) were both great to work with and we will definitely use Rocket Plumbing for any future needs. I already recommended them to our friends! read more

I needed a new toilet installed and received a few quotes. Rocket Plumbing was the most reasonable. While I wasn't sure if they were better than the others, I had to decide, so I just trusted the previous reviews. I'll say in this review they were extremely prompt when they came to provide their quote and explained to my satisfaction what needed to be done. They also provided their insurance promptly to my condo management office. They arrived on time for the job, completed it quickly, and left my bathroom clean. I highly recommend them! read more

My stinker clogged the pipes and I was standing in doo doo. These guys were quick to fix my mess! Rocket rooted my pipes for good

Incredibly expensive for what it is. A simple 5 min job to connect a tube from A to B cost $200! That's just exorbitant. I will say that their receptionist was polite and communicated very well. The plumber arrived on time, was very polite and he did a great job communicating the schedule and the process and making sure I didn't have any questions. He even put on booties in the home so my floors wouldn't get dirty. It's just that it's soooooo^^^ expensive for the work. I will never use them again because their pricing is not competitive. If they hadn't bilked me for $200 in this first 5 minute job, they probably would've had my repeat business forever. :( EDIT: After speaking with the owner, I'd like to highlight a few things: 1) The high price relative to the job being done can be explained by this being a small business with a lot of overhead that serves to provide you with the great customer service and professionalism that I experienced (i.e. you will see technicians that actually show up and show up on time and back their work.) 2) However, they do not seem to take criticism well about the prices being high. The owner said he understood and yet continued to defend and justify and not actually change anything or offer any sort of compromise or discount. Seemed to think that this review was unfair and offensive even though I haven't stated anything false or emotionally biased in my review. The owner also seemed to think it was unfair for me to state my personal opinion on the price. I think he said something to the effect of "unfair to post your opinions based on your budget." That's what Yelp is!!! A place for people's opinions on businesses. Yelp is not a place of professional critics...it's personal opinions from peers...and readers of Yelp read these reviews and glean what they will from them. (Sorry, didn't mean to rant, I'm just starting to feel like I am noticing things in my conversation in hindsight that were slightly passive-aggressive and overly defensive) 3) In any case, they are very polite and nice and they seem to strive toward excellent customer service and professionalism. Just remember you will be paying the price for the service and all the behind the scenes stuff that happens to guarantee you a smoother experience. read more

Prompt, next day service, but pricing is outrageous. Called about a leaky P trap under kitchen sink. Quoted 750.00 (with the disclaimer that the price could go up) to rip out garbage disposal, remove dishwasher, rip out a bunch of drywall...and that price didn't include putting my kitchen back together. Another company simply replaced the leaky P trap for 75.00. read more

I goofed up while making my Halloween costume which resulted in plaster clogging my bathroom sink. I found Rocket Plumbing on Yelp and they had great reviews so I gave them a call. They were very nice on the phone and were able to send someone over in the morning. Brian arrived on time (maybe even early as I wasn't quite out of the shower yet) He was very friendly, and quoted out the job which was reasonable for the amount of work and expertise the job would require. Brian fixed my sink quickly, he even fixed another problem that I wasn't even aware of. He offered additional advise for a rusted out hinge that needed to be replaced, and was an all around pleasure to have in my home. I would highly recommend this company to a friend, and will call them again if I ever have any plumbing needs. read more

Contacted Rocket and waited a week for an appointment. The plumber showed up and was very thorough in his inspection of my complaint. I mean...most contractor's won't even venture to the Southside of Chicago, so I was glad Rocket showed up. However, I was told during the service call that I would not receive an estimate until about 3 days. After the 5th day, I called inquiring about the estimate. I was then told I would have the estimate by the end of the day. Approximately 2 weeks later, and I've yet to receive an estimate...phone call...email...smoke signal or even a "Rocket" passing by... My issue was serious, but I'm glad I wasn't drowning from a flood because I'd still be waiting for a life jacket! read more

I have mixed feelings about writing this review because I am shocked at how expensive some of these service people are. I realize these companies are in business to make a profit so I do not fault their efforts to generate business but I have to wonder about their approach. I do not need a salesman trying to sell me something or giving me an overpriced estimate without even knowing what the problem is. I called Rocket after finding them on Yelp and explained to the dispatcher that my 8 year old Whirlpool water heater stopped working. I explained to this person what I knew about the problem. I had done some research on the web before I called them. It was Friday and he said they could have a man out Monday morning. Monday morning Anthony showed up with a helper and upon looking at my water heater, he tells me they do not service Whirlpool. What? I told them what I had when I called them three days earlier so now I am wondering why they even bothered to show up? He said he would be glad to give me an estimate on a new unit for $1525 installed or if I got the part to fix the one I had they would install it for about $300. Anthony left and now I am completely frustrated and shocked at how I am going to deal with this situation. I called Whirlpool to get a manual and some technical help and they gave me the names of 3 other places that would deal with my problem. I looked each of these 3 places up and the reviews said the same about all 3 places. Very expensive! Unfortunately I am retired and not rich and need to be practical. After a few hours I decided to do a search for a local plumber and found a very nice guy in Evanston. He came out within the hour and sat down on the ground in my basement next to the water heater and eventually fixed the problem in about an hour. He had a lot of knowledge of how water heaters worked. Total cost $50. He discussed future problems I might have and I ordered the part he suggested from Whirlpool for a $30 shipping fee in the event that the unit goes out again. Whirlpool has a 12 year warranty on parts so you have to get someone to install it or DIY. I would hire this guy back without question. Update: Unfortunately his repair only lasted 2 days and I had to spend $1000 to replace the unit) Follow up. The owner of Rocket called me and apologized for the misunderstanding. He will speak to his staff about how to change a few things about the way they approach customers and being upfront on what brands they work on. I think they mean well but I guess this was an unusual situation and they do seem like very nice people. read more

Visiting my elderly parents from out of town and noticed a leaking toilet. Called Rocket Plumbing and got answered right away: clear communication about the schedule, a reminder phone call the night before, a wonderfully short window for anticipated arrival time, professional & friendly service person, upfront quote and then fine service. Problem solved. (I really wish all of my customer experiences were as smooth as this one!) read more

This is an update the review that I left last week. It turned out that my drain re-clogged after a few days. Brian came out immediately and snaked a fatter line through my pipes until we hit the clog. He apologized profusely that it wasn't fixed on the original visit (he actually fired the original plumber in the week between visits for similar problems). He, of course, stood by his 30-day guarantee. I couldn't recommend Rocket Plumbing enough! read more

Rocket Plumbing's technician Marlon literally saved my life and possibly lives of the people on the 2100 block of W Cortland. *Well aware that this sounds like a stupid over-the-top yelp review, but read the GAS LEAK story below. I call People's Gas to come out and check for a gas leak, the guy finds a leak with the stove connection but doesn't check the meter or pipes below the building. I call Rocket Plumbing the next morning and they send Marlon out the next afternoon. Promptly fixes the stove hose and fittings, explaining everything as he does - from pipe size and fitting to the sticky dope used to seal them. But he doesn't just leave. He stays around and uses his gas meter to check for additional leaks. He was willing to open the crawl space (people's gas wasn't) and we found that it was filled with gas. After Marlon found the additional leak, I called People's Gas to come and check it out. 15 mins after the People's Gas tech got here, the gas for the entire building is shut off and they start drilling into the street to shut off the big valve and repipe everything into the building. All the piping was corroded - creating a major leak. These are the kind of circumstances where buildings and entire blocks actually blow up. Marlon's sticking around and doing more than the job he came for prevented that. When you call Rocket Plumbing, ask if they can send Marlon out. read more

Oh my gosh, these guys are the best. They come quickly, they are polite and candid, and they get the job done at a reasonable price. I had another guy come out for a simple issue -- they ended up recommending thousands of dollars worth of work! I called Rocket Plumbing and they came out at no charge...looked at the situations...and politely explained to me how the other guys were trying to sell me on things that I didn't need. We discovered them when our sump pump failed and they came to the rescue right away...and we've worked with them on simple issues like toilet flappers too. I will always work with Rocket Plumbing from now on! read more

So pleased with the level of service provided for sewer rodding. They showed up right when they said they would. Prior to hiring them, they talked me through the difference between hydro-jetting and traditional sewer line rodding beyond the price. We are just maintaining the line (no issues we were are of) so the traditional sewer rodding service is what they recommended. Their fee for service was reasonable based on the comparisons I did. Nick was professional, described the status of the sewer line (a little tree root clog that was easily taken care of with the rodding.) Will call these guys back for other plumbing issues. read more

I'm honestly puzzled by the positive reviews. I called Rocket to inquire about fixing my toilet tank. I asked for an average price range and was told they don't give that over the phone and that a plumber would have to come over, assess a service charge and then give me an estimate. When I told the person on the phone that the website states that Rocket does give estimates over the phone, he told me he'd call back with an estimate. He called back, gave me an estimate that was higher than what I had researched. I asked him to tell me how he arrived at the price. He couldn't tell me. Sorry, but something doesn't smell right. I went with a competitor who gave me a proper estimate, explained the work over the phone and was 15% cheaper. read more

Our water heater died on Sunday. We contacted one company, who showed up, told us we needed a new one (which we had told them), and that it would take seven days to order and get one (and hence seven more days with only ice cold water)!? And charged us to tell us what we already told them, and thought they were coming to rectify. Guess not. Enter Rocket Plumbing, who tried to get someone out the same day so we could have hot water again (not pleasant in single digit temps). While they could not accomplish this, they were great to work with and had someone out the very next day. Tony was professional, friendly, well-mannered and straight-forward about what we needed. They went and got a top-of-the-line Bradford White 75 gallon water heater from a local distributor (imagine that, it took 45 minutes, not 7 days) corrected a piping problem (seriously, the old one was in backwards because of the pipes) and we had hot water again. It was efficient, painless, and actual decent customer service. Tony is even coming back today because he did not have the correct size of valve with him and he does not want us to have problems in the future because of it. Bottom line, Rocket Plumbing was responsive, listened to what we needed, got someone out quite quickly, did an excellent job, and sent a service technician to our home who was actually friendly, could communicate and was customer centric. In a service industry flooded with inadequate workers who try to gouge you on cost while providing less than stellar customer service....Rocket Plumbing was a refreshing return to how things should be. Why would you accept anything less!? Hire them! read more

Rocket Plumbing helped me during 2 of my plumbing emergencies. My shower was leaking into my neighbor's ceiling and within 24 hours Marlon from Rocket Plumbing was at my door. He was so respectful and personable and discovered that day that the problem was not plumbing, but loose shower tiles. Marlon provided me with a referral for a handyman who was able to fix the ceiling at an incredibly reasonable price and within a week! Then I lost one of my favorite earrings down my bathroom sink. I called Rocket Plumbing and they were able to come out for my "emergency" earring retrieval right away! They fit me in their schedule and were able to accommodate my untraditional work hours as well. They only charged me a "nominal" fee for the work even though they took time out of their schedule to stop by early in the morning. I plan to use Rocket Plumbing for my guest bathroom remodel as well. The quote for work they provided me was $200 cheaper than all of the other plumbers I contacted in the city. In fact, they were able to find the unique parts I need for my antique claw foot tub $400 cheaper than everything listed online! They did this all independently without me even asking them to search for the parts! Rocket Plumbing's prices, work, and personable employees make them an awesome company that has been so great to deal with! read more

To be clear, this review is NOT based on services rendered but solely on customer service/customer relations which I still believe can be improved. As the following review will highlight, a bad interaction can either be fixed or made much worse. Original Review: Can we talk irony? On the the home page of their website it states in very large print, "We actually pick up when you call!" I just called and no one picked up. That is not why they are getting the one star review. I understand people get busy and things happen, sometimes you can't pick up the phone (even if it is in big bold lettering on your website). My problem begins and ends with the woman who called me back, so incredibly rude! My phone rang with a number I did not recognize so when I picked up and heard the virtually incoherent woman on the other end I was understandably a little confused. When I took more than 1 millisecond to respond she rudely said to me, "hello?!" After I had one second to understand her introduction I was able to respond. Once again ironically, when I stated that I would like a quote on a job she went completely quiet. I explained the problem I needed fixed and rudely she said they couldn't help me. It's too bad because I am working for a client that needs multiple things fixed and although they couldn't be of help for one problem I'm sure they could have fixed the others. I guess they don't need the business. In the future, Rocket Plumbing, I would advise your secretary to 1) answer the phones as your website claims you do and 2) talk to customers like they are helping pay her salary not a nuisance to her day. Edit... After posting my original review I got a call from the owner of the company. My immediate thought was that I would be coming back to yelp to add more stars. In my book you get high marks for reaching out to your customers. It shows a lot of integrity to try and fix a mistake. However, as I quickly found out the owner was more concerned with having a bad review on yelp than fixing the bad experience I had with his employee. Also, I'm not sure of the ethical/privacy issues of the call since I never explicitly gave them my phone number or approval to contact me. Which means my number was taken off of their caller ID after he read my original review. To the owner, here are a few tips on how to handle "difficult" customers: 1) It does not matter who is right. If a potential customer perceives it then that is reality. Your employee sounded rude to me therefore it was rude, end of story. Trying to argue the side of your employee will never win you points with a customer. Asking me how you should reprimand an employee who did nothing wrong puts me on the defensive. People do not like to put on the defensive. 2) Your tone with me was loud and you spoke at me, without pause for minutes on end. This type of behavior conveys aggression to me. 3) You told me my review was bitter, which is a personal attack on me. Again, not a great idea to make a potential customer feel attacked. 4) At the end of our conversation I should have felt better about your company and I only felt worse. 5) After I explained the situation your first and ONLY response should have been, "I have spoken to my employee, she is normally a very sweet person. I'm not sure what happened but is sounds like there was probably just a misunderstanding/miscommunication. I apologize and my employee apologizes for the misunderstanding. We value all of our customers and would love to start over. How can we move forward and help you with your plumbing needs?" This response from you would have elicited a five star rating from me immediately. I am sorry you did not like my review but I will not be bullied into deleting it or giving you more stars. I applaud the passion you have your your company and employees. However, you need to handle difficult situations with more tact and a lighter hand. Things could have ended much better if your reaction to my initial review was less passionate and more level headed. read more

I'm updating my review to five stars based on the way Brian and Ben handled the situation. I was contacted by Brian shortly after posting the review below, and he offered to have Ben come out that night to repair the toilet free of charge. They were both apologetic for the way the situation was handled and very professional. As a result, I will not hesitate to contact them again for future issues. Thank you both! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm a bit surprised that this place has such great reviews -- that's the reason I contacted them back in April when my toilet was leaking. I was charged $200 for the installation of two wax rings, which I thought was expensive, but I wanted it fixed correctly and ASAP. Unfortunately, a mere FIVE MONTHS later, my toilet is leaking in the exact same location. I called and had the same individual, Ben, come back to take a look. He wanted to charge me another $250 for two more wax rings! Ridiculous! He even said himself that the wax rings should have lasted two years. I could not believe that they tried to charge me full price when they clearly did not fix the issue the first time. Do not use them! You can certainly find a better company - one that stands behind their work and corrects a problem when not done correctly. read more

Update: I received a voicemail from Brian, the owner, to apologize for the miscommunication. I think the issue is that Rocket Plumbing has 2 websites, http://www.rocketplumbingnow.com AND http://www.rocketplumbingnow.com/yelp. On the "About Us" section of the former, it says they serve all of the Chicagoland area, while on the "Service Area" tab of the latter, there are the specific zip codes and a map of the service area. The regular website does not have a map or list the service area and that is what I was going off of. Orignal Post: I had a similar experience as William J. I called and the lady asked for my zip, I told her 60653 which is in they Hyde Park area and she said they do not go south of Roosevelt Road despite Yelp and their website saying they serve all of Chicagoland Area. Very confusing and disappointing. Please update your website and yelp if you do not serve all of the Chicagoland area. read more

I called and spoke with a woman on the phone that told me that it would cost $25 for them to give me a quote and then they will give me an estimate based on that I could proceed or not. This sounded very reasonable to me. They could not fit me in that day and the earliest available time was Friday, the next day at 4pm. I did get a call from Sam saying that he was running late and wouldn't be there until 4:30pm, but he didn't arrive until about 5:30pm as he was finishing another job and was tied up in traffic. The girl living in the unit below rushed to be home at 4pm so that we could look into this water leak issue. I explained to him that I thought that the tub was the issue since both times the leak occurred was when there was a bath taken. I did open up the valve myself and tightened up the screws prior to him arriving in an attempt to see or fix the problem on my own. He explained the potential issue and had said that he would caulk the tub and that it would cost $167. He ran a diagnostic test where we had the water filled a quarter of the way and then let it drain and checked to see if it was leaking down to the unit below and it didn't. Then we filled the tub up 80-90% full over 75% coverage of the valve and then let it drain even and that still didn't cause any leaks to the unit below. So, Sam offers me an apprenticeship position since I probably fixed my own problem. Obviously, he's very personable and has a sense of humor. I guess my problem here lies with $167 bill with no plumbing work actually being done. If anyone else can attest to this being fair or what the competitor price would be, I'd surely like to know. He did explain that the $25 is for the cost of driving over even decided that we didn't want any work done or cancelled but it still doesn't really make sense to me since it wasn't the understanding I had when I spoke with the woman on the phone the day before. There was no explanation by anyone that the cost to run a diagnostic test (in the case running and draining water) was also the same as caulking getting done. If this was the cost then I feel like I should have at least had an opportunity to call other companies for a comparison or price quote to have the same assessment done at a price that I would know about in advance. read more

Installed a new garbage disposal (we didn't have one previously), installed new shower hardware in two bathrooms (previous owners loved brass...I do not!), and showed me how to do it if I needed to replace a tub handle (I had ordered it but it didn't come in in time for their visit). They were a pleasure to work with and very honest. Also extremely clean! The cost was inline with what I had expected it to cost so while they may not be the cheapest option they are the best option for getting it done correctly and promptly (the best money spent is a job done right the first time). read more

I am a bit late in writing this review but I wanted to make sure I took the time to do so. I was very happy with the service I received from Rocket Plumbing. Called Rocket Plumbing last month to come in and investigate an issue with sewer smell in my finished basement as well as drain flies hanging around as a result. They sent a plumber over named Tony who came in and looked around at the drains, garbage disposals, etc. He recommended that I (as in ME) get a wet/dry vac and suck out the drain. I told him I don't own a wet/dry vac and that is why I called him. He said that his vacuum was in the shop and couldn't do it. He then recommended I pour some bleach down the drain (tried that before I even called him). He said other than that there was nothing he could do and then charged me $15 for the visit! It wasn't like he offered to try some things and I turned it down. I am giving 2 stars instead of 1 mainly because they came same day as I called. Updating my review to 3 stars, simply because the owner called me back to apologize and discuss the issues. read more

Tony was AWESOME today! We are a small non profit and when our main sewer line starting emitting some very nasty smells, we freaked. After getting quotes and advice from two different companies, we finally called Rocket. They came super fast, arrived when they said they would, and were able to clear the clog and told us that we didn't actually have a broken pipe! Saved us thousands of dollars where others would have had us dig up the yard and lay new pipe for no reason. Tony was super courteous and explained the issue in layman's terms for us over and over. It was very very helpful and we are eternally grateful. We will definitely call Rocket Plumbing for any future issues (fingers crossed that we don't have to for a very long time!) read more
