Communication with First Chicago, as well as updates the day of were great - they let me know when they were coming, and showed up pretty close to that time window, which is all you can ask for! Alek and Chris came out to address the issue, and showed us what was going on, as well as why it happened. They were great to talk with, as well as educate us a bit on plumbing, as this is an area both my wife and I are not experts in at all. The fix was prompt, and I feel very relieved and overly satisifed by the job they did, and how quickly they did it. I can't speak too much to value, not knowing too much about the cost of these projects. However, I can say that I was charged the amount that I was initially quoted, which is always appreciated. To me, the amount I paid for the work they did, as well as peace of mind that any potential leaks are addressed, was acceptable. Paid 1600 for jetting maintence on our kitchen line not 3 weeks later kitchen floor drains backed up .. called for emergency service left many messages no call back no response . I got A &P grease Trappers Inc they came out on a Sunday explained what a half ass job First Chicago Plumbing did . They jetted the inside and the main line and cleaned out the triple basin for 1300 . Beware i am guessing First Chicago has new crew new ownership from when i used them last year . I am a Care Plan member of First Chicago Plumbing. During routine water heater maintenance, Eugene dispatched a worker who left the water heater valve open and flooded my basement. While my basement was flooding, they were at their car doing who knows what. Their insurance formally admitted fault in writing, but are still denying liability. This has become a massive legal headache requiring us to retain an attorney. Avoid this company and it's owner Eugene at all costs. This is not a reputable company. It's a total scam. I found them due to great reviews but it looks like most reviews are several years old and this company changed . I called them when my basement toilet had water on the floor. Unfortunately these guys were available sooner and I went with them. Turns out they send some subcontractors/ some guys to your home having no idea who they are. They sent to me a 20 y old guy having no proper equipment or expertise. He had no idea what he was doing . He charged $850 for rooting the main drain only(usually $200-$350). And the total bill was well over 1000. He didn't even have camera. When I called them they said they were sending "a crew with camera" but this guy didn't have it. And he was alone and inexperienced . I had to hire another company next day because this dude made the problem worse and toilet began to backing out all sewage from the house after he left! He tried to clear a clog going through a toilet and making 4 turns while another company said he should have accessed it from another drain pipe that was accessible right there . The other company (Mudden Sewer) changed $350 for rooting main drain again WITH CAMERA and diagnosed all my drainage WITH CAMERAS. They also properly cleaned a lot more debris and managed to stop my downstairs toilet from backing up right away. Mudden specialist said : "never heard of this company" and "He didn't know what he was doing, maybe that's their "first year" in Chicago?" Update: the company tried to contact me on YELP to disclose my identity to them so they can continue to harass me. I already told them the day after their service that I wasted over $1000 paying them and that all the work was redone by a reputable company. They offered no refunds. Now these Alina contacts me asking questions to be able to find out "invoice number" to locate where I live .. No thanks. You didn't offer a refund and I don't want your services again. read more

You're missing the point. I'm a customer, what on earth do I know about flushing water heaters? You're a professional plumbing company. You are supposed to have the experience and the forethought. Ask the question: how old are the water heaters? Have they been flushed every year? If the answer is no, advise the customer against doing it, or warn them of the consequences. Just finished my appointment with First Chicago Plumbing, and after the disasters I have been dealing with from other contractors I've used, I felt compelled to leave this review on a business that does things right. Eugene was quick to respond and very professional over email. Scheduling an appointment was easy and they were able to make it out the same week. Jorge and Sergio (I believe that was his name) were the ones on site. They were nice and explained everything to me. There was some work that was up in the air on whether it needed to be done, and ultimately they were able to get the job done without the additional work. The biggest part of my work was correcting a disposal hook up my contractor horribly botched during my kitchen renovation. They were able to correct everything and hook it up correctly. It looks SO much better (see before and after pictures attached). Everything was cleaned up and then tested in front of me to make sure it worked. I thought the price was fair and very close to the quote I received. It's the city, so if you want good work you can't cheap out (as I've learned the hard way). Ultimately I was just happy to have actual licensed professionals who knew what they were doing. I had FCP come out recently to re-pipe my house as well as take care of replacing a corroded kitchen sink waste pipe. Eugene, Vasile, and the team did a fantastic job with everything. They re-piped my house in two days. Very efficient and transparent as to the work they were doing. The kitchen sink waste pipe replacement was done in 4 hours. Hard to say how their costs compare to other companies because FCP was the only one that promptly replied to my call for action, but they did stick to the estimate I was given. And in plumbing and electrical, I like the peace of mind that comes with having professionally bonded and insured people do the job correctly. I used the project section to get 2 of the toilets in my house fixed as the pumps were not working. Of the 5 that came up only 3 responded and only George at First Chicago Plumbing called me back first thing in the morning. The other 2 that responded with exorbitant call out fees and excuses galore (why bother to respond then?) George set up Justin to come out and fix the toilets and we haven't seen someone work so hard and he even came back out the next day to double check on some work. I once thought that this was a very good company to work with. I have referred several neighbors and friends to them over the past few years. They typically do quality work. However, I have been extremely disappointed (and left hanging) now that I've encountered a situation with First Chicago Plumbing that needs correction. I had to have work done in my guest shower. On the first appointment, a part was installed. After the plumber left, I realized that my shower trim had been left in a manner that it was not flush with the wall, which would have resulted in water getting behind the tile. A second appointment was made for that the be adjusted. Unfortunately, about two weeks later, the part that had initially been installed failed. It was determined that the part was likely defective. Therefore, a third appointment had to be scheduled to replace the defective part. I very much appreciated that they came out and made it right, as they should have. However, immediately following the last appointment, I realized that during the replacement work, my shower valve was somehow adjusted so that the hot water does not open fully. The lever no longer turns as far as it did previously. The result is that I can get only water, not hot. I fully understand that First Chicago would rather not come to my home again. But these issues are no fault of mine. I expect the work to be completed correctly so that everything is repaired and in working order. I have called numerous times, left messages, sent texts and an email. I was initially promised a return call. When that didn't happen, I kept calling until I spoke with someone. I was accused of being "angry." My problem was dismissed as something they already fixed. I have tried to explain in several ways that the issue with the hot water is new and did not occur until the appointment when they replaced the defective part that they had installed. I do not appreciate being hung up on and treated as if I am being unreasonable. If all had been done properly, I would not be calling about this. It has been weeks since this issue was raised to the attention of First Chicago. Believe me, this is a huge drain on my time too, and I cannot take a hot shower. I have only asked that they work with me to find a resolution. It appears that I will be forced to find another plumber to get my hot water fully functional again. Update: I contacted Alina by email and provided her with my previous messages to the company. She apologized for the breakdown of communication. A plumber was sent to my home today who made the simple adjustment that was needed (it took 10 minutes). I appreciate that they came back and resolved the issue. read more

First of all, let me say that the technicians themselves are wonderful!!! Justin and Vasile did a great job completing the jobs requested. However, the price points from this company are beyond outrageous. Go elsewhere for service if you don't want to be charged at crazy rates. Just to be transparent, I needed a faucet cartridge replaced and my bathroom drain snaked. The faucet cartridge itself cost less than $20 (I looked it up) and I was charged $100 for the part. This did NOT include the cost of labor which was an additional cost (and I'm ok with that). Do yourself a favor and shop around. I have used other companies that charge LESS THAN HALF of what they charged me to clear the line from my tub to my ejector pump and that was without removing my toilet. The excuse is always about how much the use of the tools costs, but I call BS. Customers should not have to pay to snake a drain at 2x-3x the normal price point of other companies. Basically, only use them if you want to overspend on services. Save your coins people! *update based on company response: I went to the faucet shop myself and the part was $17 so that's not true. But glad you think that $85 is a minimal mark up! And they were upfront about the cost to pull off the toilet and use a large machine which was the highest rate provided. The lower rates shared were given if a smaller machine was used (which was the case) and if they didn't need to remove the toilet (which they didn't). I purchased an older home in 2023, and I needed to have the plumbing throughout the home updated, the water heater updated, a whole house filter installed, etc. - a lot of work! I had previously used First Chicago Plumbing in my previous home to update an old school shower valve, so they were my first call. I did get a second estimate, and it was comparable in price, but the sales rep was high-pressure, trying to get me to agree to do the work right away, which I didn't like. Eugene is much more laid back, but very detail-oriented. Vasile was the lead plumber who completed the work, and he and his partner did beautiful work.
