A spacious pizza place with functional decor and a view of the ovens, should you wish. I ordered their Marinara with anchovies as a paid topping. Service was great. They didn't have the beer I wanted, so they substituted a more premium brand for the lower cost. Also very friendly. The pizza was thin crust, not Neapolitan. The garlic confit added a nice subtle flavor. The crust itself had a good chew and a heartier taste than I've had with other places. The tomato sauce was rich and savory. The anchovies gave a nice unami and salt kick, without making it too salty. However, I didn't really see or taste the advertised oregano. But i liked their house chili oil, floral and not too spicy. Price was decent. I would definitely return the next time I am being a tourist.

Continuing our search of good pizza in Banff/Canmore, we decided to try rocket pie while exploring downtown Canmore. The restaurant has the fast casual vibe and recycles used San Marzano tomato cans as pizza stand which I found pretty smart and cute. We got the Diavola pizza to-go. The pizza was made to order and took about 25 mins. At first glance, the crust is not as airy as what you'd expect for a Neapolitan pizza, and our first bite confirmed the suspicion. While the flavor of the topping was solid, the texture of the dough is closer to a bar pie or chains, and the undercarriage had a bit too much char for my liking. Given the price point is the same as other nice sit down restaurants with 5 star pizzas in Banff, Rocket Pie is not quite worth it.

We were hanging around Canmore, walking the local downtown area and decided to try Rocket Pie for dinner based on the reviews and few available options in town. We got one of their pizza's to go; for $27 CAD, it was a bit below expectations. We came in to place the takeout order and it took around 25 minutes to get our food; this is good because it means it was cooked to order (like it should be for a pizza spot). Just this week, we've tried pizza pies at Pizzeria Sophia and Lupo (both located in downtown Banff) at roughly the same price point. In terms of quality of the ingredients and the level of crust/ dough, this was the weakest of the grouping considering all three spots target the more gourmet level of pie. The dough at Rocket pie was a bit disappointing and closer to a chain pizza dough than a 00 flour Neapolitan style dough and crust that you'll expect from a gourmet pizza spot with a legit oven. Not sure how to describe it but the dough tasted more pre-made than a freshly done Neapolitan style crust. The toppings were fine and the red sauce was pretty good. But again, comparing apples to apples and since the price point is about the same, we were expecting a bit more from the pizza.

Yelp says they close at 9 PM, but I'm glad I called. They actually close at 10 PM. Great service, casual vibes, I love that they do half orders of salad. Unfortunately, I don't think the pizzas are consistent since our pizza looked nothing like the photos on Yelp. (See photo).

Stayed walking distance from Rocket Pie while we were in Canmore! Loved everything we had here! The kale caesar was great! And the pizzas were fantastic! Crust was perfect, sauce was spot on and toppings were fresh! My son and I loved the Margherita! The fiance loved his funghi and we also ordered a pepperoni for the 3 of us! Pepperoni was filled with lots of pepperonis on top; they really don't skimp on ingredients or toppings! We over ordered for 2 adults and a toddler but hey, YOLO! We were stuffed but didn't regret it one bit! I can see why the locals come here and pick up pies to-go!

Highly recommend! And that's high praise coming from someone who doesn't *normally like pizza. A shout out to Donna -- caring, professional, and prompt! We actually came back to Rocket Pie 3x in the span of a single week, because our initial experience with Donna was such a strong positive impression. Here's what we ordered: * Focaccia - Crispy crust, soft insides, and a delicious garlic-y taste. Like all of their "breads," this was top notch. * Funghi (vegetarian) pizza - We ordered marinara sauce on the side, and the two together were fantastic. I mentioned above that I normally don't like pizza. I even *more so don't like marinara (normally). But marinara here isn't nearly as sour or tangy; instead, it's got a nice sweet taste, and I'm a huge fan. * Pesto di Pollo pizza - The star of the show in my opinion. I can't wait to come back for this specific pizza. I doused this in the chili oil they leave on the table, and gahhhhhhhhh. So cheesy. So tasty. This is my favorite pizza at Rocket Pie, and it's easily one of the top 3 pizzas I've ever had. The only other pizzas I've appreciated are "meat lover's" style -- so for such a 'simple' pizza, this is a high compliment. * Tiramisu - This reminds me of the more "watery" tiramisus in Japan. Creamier and softer mascarpone and less structured than what you'd find at a typical Italian restaurant in the US. Overall, big big fan. It's a cute restaurant, with amazing food, and even better service. Thank you Donna!

Overall a good experience. A cute place with a friendly staff. The server was very was very helpful in helping us decide what to order. We ordered a half Kale Caesar salad along with a Diavola Pizza. I was glad we only got a half order of the Salad, even for two people it was large. Personally, the Kale Caesar salad was a bit too chewy for me but the flavor was good. I really enjoyed the Diavola Pizza.

Let me first say a male employee/owner/manager said to me after I asked if they take reservations "yeah if you want to book several tables and pay me $500"! What? He was super rude. We were asking for a table for 4 people and they had an empty booth. The hostess was kind and within 20 minutes had us seated. Our waitress was awesome. Pizza was delicious. So thankfully what started out not so well turned out well.

Went in and asked the bar if I could place a to go order, they directed me to the front of house. FOH took my order and one of the workers actually delivered it next door to the first call tavern. Great! The pizza was good and from the pictures you can tell it has a heavy helping of cheese and pepperoni, no need to pay extra for either. Adam the restaurant manager was next door first call tavern and was very hospitable and accommodating when it came to orders. 10/10 would recommend..

If you find yourself hungry in Canmore, do your taste buds a favor and stop here! We were seated at an open bar and the bartender/ manager? waited on us and was extremely friendly. We enjoyed chatting with him while we ate our pizza. Which was INCREDIBLE... (sooo much flavor)I ended up eating my whole pizza, no leftovers there. The manager was accommodating to my modification request of adding garlic confit to my pizza. My fiancé's pizza didn't come out at the same time as mine and they made up for it by adding prosciutto free of charge, which is great customer service. Overall we had a really good time and if I could I would go back again tomorrow! I didn't try the appetizers or dessert but they looked really good!

I'd rate this place between a 4.5-5 stars. It's not the best pizza I've had but it was pretty good. I also have a high bar because of where I live in the states. Our waitress was super friendly and upbeat. She took good care of us, even though it was busy and they were a bit short staffed. We split the olives for an app. They were really good and the red ones were new to me. We split the prosciutto pizza and margherita pizza. I liked the margherita one better. The chili oil is the star of the show and my friend bought a bottle to take back. It's made in house and I'm not a big chili oil person but this stuff was delish. They had a good beer list of local beers as well!

The hype is real. Believe the hype. Stayed in Canmore for just under a week. Got Rocket Pie for take out on night 2, had to come back for seconds. First night we got a margarita pizza, which was a 10/10. And the creamy garlic dip leveled it up. Second trip, we got a pepperoni pizza, the kale salad, and the house focaccia bread. Hands down one of the best pizzas we've ever had (we are from northern NJ, basically NYC-adjacent; we know good pizza). Go here if you're in the area, you won't be disappointed.

We tried the Formaggi ($25), Diavola ($23), and the Fennel Sausage ($24). The Diavola pizza is the most recommended pizza on Google reviews. Just an excellent combination of quality cheeses, spicy sopressata and fresh tomato sauce. The salami was on point - each piece was so flavoursome. I loved how the pickled onions and chili flakes added a pleasant crunch and pop of heat. I loved the sweet, salty, and savoury notes from the blend of mozzarella, fontina, gorgonzola, pecorino ramno, parmigiana Reggiano and local honey in the Formaggi. The crust is so lovely - crispy, thin and airy. The dough is light enough to let the blend of cheeses and honey shine, but substantive enough to carry the strong flavours. Next time I'll add the prosciutto ($5) to the Formaggi. The Fennel Sausage Calzone is my favourite. This is the first time I tried a calzone that I enjoyed. Too often, calzones remind me of pizza pockets. The crust was different from the two pizzas we tried. The dough puffs up like a a pastry and the crust was almost buttery in texture. The calzone was stuffed was tons of mozzarella, ricotta cheese, fresh spinach, and house made fennel and sausage. The sausage tasted clean and bright, the meat wasn't oily or heavy. I loved the charring on the dough - the crust was blistered enough to give off a smoky flavour. The calzone is big enough for two people. Freaking fantastic and worth the calories. What sets Rocket Pie from all the other pizzerias is the crust. This dough is perfection. This is the most delicious crust I have ever eaten. You need to try this pizza to taste what I'm saying. Some flavours can't be described in words. All pizzas come with complimentary chili oil. The oil is moderately spicy and nutty. I could really taste the richness that comes from a proper toasting of the chili flakes. We took exactly half our food home and ate it for lunch and dinner. Pro tip - bake the calzone in the oven on 400 on the bottom rack for 15 minutes to get the bottom crust crisp. Rocket packs the calzone full of ingredients, and the fresh spinach releases a little water overnight. read more

It was a slow inside which meant we were seated quickly. It also meant a lot of employees just standing around chatting about their lives and their drama. The pizza came out fast but it wasn't overly great. It had a unique flavor but the crust felt a bit like thin cardboard. I did enjoy the hint of honey on my pizza but was disappointed with the lack of cheese. I tried my friends pizza and could hardly swallow it but she said she enjoyed the "something new" aspect of it and the unique flavors. The place is very clean and I enjoyed the feel of it. read more

Listen to me...I begged to differ from those giving this a low rating- want to know why? Because I know for a fact that this pie was one for my books. And if you know the kind of books I have, you'd understand and beg. As for me and this house? I'll be giving this one an easy 5 STARS. Yeah, I said it. 5. No stutter here today. Because the pepperoni to bread ratio, along with their world famous chili oil on the side is second to none beside it. So want to prove it? The pizza here really is superb. The pep, mushroom and the cheese pizza with the Gorgonzola were all spectacular. Only down sides being it took a long time for the pizzas to come out. And secondly, we tried to come here the night prior to when we went and were turned away service and to go food 45 mins before close which was pretty strange/off putting. I'd highly recommend getting a reservation. read more

Fantastic pizza, fast service, terrific service. This place is a gem! We came in at 8pm on a Thursday night in February. It was about 3/4 full, but we were seated immediately by a server who seemed to really enjoy working there. We ordered our pizzas and beers. Unfortunately the beer my husband ordered was out, but she hadn't been made aware. So she showed up at the table with two similar alternates and offered in depth descriptions of what to expect. We loved that she came with options in hand, meaning all three of us had our drinks at the same time. Much appreciated! The pizzas showed up incredibly quickly and were fantastic. Beautiful fresh tomato sauce, chewy but thin crust, and fresh and tasty toppings. In terms of size, the pizzas are a nice size for a single person if you'd like a few pieces the next day. Also, they have a set menu. So I don't think you can build your own pizza, if that's important to you. I can understand why there are so many 5 star reviews of this place. It was awesome, and we will definitely be back next time we are in Canmore. read more

Food was amazing! We came to the shopping center to do laundry next door and wanted to eat while it ran. It was the best food we've had in the Jasper/Banff area and would come back just for the calzone! The service between the bartender and the host were great as well. read more

I think this place would get a minimum 8.5 on the one bite app. If you don't know. Invest as much time as I have to tasting at some of the heavyweights in NYC and Connecticut and an 8.5 is up there with legendary and deserved There's a pie place in NYC called John's on Bleeker St. they usually rate as one of the top pie places in the US. They have a coal fired operation. A dough that's flawless. It's airy, super light, and blisters up on the edges. It's memorable. Their sauce is crushed San Marzano tomato and it's amazing! This place reminds me so much of Johns on Bleeker. That is saying ALOT! Try this place. The pies are a bit costly, but after reading they might rival some of the top places in the US.... it's a bargain at any rate. So amazing. You won't be disappointed. I had the Diavola and the Pepperoni. I'd recommend both! read more

Wow. Did not expect to find this treasure in Canmore. The best pizza I've had in a decade, or longer. Perfect crust. The sauce..... what do you say about a perfect sauce. Not sweet. Not overly seasoned. Perfection. The service is excellent as well. A must stop when in the areas. The house oil should be sold retail. Full disclosure, the pizza was so fantastic, i ordered a second, and finished it. And now I had the house made Tiramisu. It's not the classic style, but what it is, is incredibly delicious. read more

Oh my goodness! This pizza is absolutely delicious! I had a capriccioso and it could've been one made at a family restaurant in Italy. I cannot recommend this place enough! The staff was wonderful. We really enjoyed this pizza place for dinner in Canmore. We went twice in the one week we were here. One night we split a pepperoni pizza and the next we split meatballs and a calzone. All of it was great, including the cocktails I had! All of the staff was friendly as well. read more

Dinner here on the patio was just perfect. Their homemade sauce is indescribable, and the texture + chew on the pizza dough was spot on. This was the best pizza I have had in awhile. The meatballs were also great. Service was super friendly and the food came quick. I am only in Canmore for one more day and I hope I can go back here again tomorrow. read more

We've been at Rocket Pie twice now. This is the real deal folks. Their Calzone, Margherita Pizza and Tiramisu were top notch. Coming from a family that sells water buffalo mozarela, I've tried many so called Margherita pizzas in my life - and in various countries too. The Rocket Pie Margherita is authentic. My go to place and pizza in the Rockies now. Also a good place to dine in with kids. read more

Homemade crust, homemade chilli oil, high quality cheese and sauce. It's a great atmosphere I recommend checking it out. The patio is dog friendly too. read more

The gluten free crust is the best I've ever had. It's incredibly fluffy and tasty, made in house. With the chili oil it was even better. I got the fungi pie, the mushrooms were great! Would highly recommend their pizza. read more

AMAZING PIZZA! A group of us had their 5 cheese, pepperoni, and gluten-free Margherita pizzas, and they were all fantastic. The 5 cheese with the honey drizzle, was by far the best cheese pizza any of us have had. We would recommend Rocket Pie to anyone wanting a great pizza. read more

Stopped here Sunday night, quick service and spacious seating with covid glass partitions. Feature pizza of spicy anchovy pretty delicious, surprising heat cause of 'nduja? Dense Kale salad - could tell they massaged the leaves and wasn't overly sauced so felt healthy companion to the pizza. Tiramisu dessert is a stand out - unctuous custard and candies nuts are super yummy. I'd come back to try the white pizza. read more

Picked up three pizzas to go yesterday and was a little early so I enjoyed a nice glass Italian red while they finished up my order. We had a simple cheese bambino for my son who likes nothing but the straight stuff, I had the a slightly modified one of their speciality pies the Formaggi, and the third was their Prosciutto specialty. All were very tasty. I wish I could find a reason to stay another day to have more.
