I've never had a great experience at this particular location. It feels more like a candy shop for children than adults. The items are generally overpriced or out-of-stock. Sure, they have a great selection of European items if you're willing to pay for them. The staff is almost always either rude or indifferent to you. Most of them (the staff) are kids goofing off and eating the profits. My last visit here caused my credit card being compromised and a massive purchase being deducted from my checking account. Long story short, I ended up with the usual "We're sorry, please give us another chance" routine from management. The biggest selection of sodas I've ever seen! I went in looking for a couple Rocky Mountain Soda Company bottles and left with a six pack. And I love that every single bottle is a "loosie", meaning its sold individually. You can buy multiples of just one flavor, but you're not limited to that either. In case you're into buying local, there's at least eight different RMSC flavors: Root Beer, Birch Beer, Lemon Limeade, Ginger Beer, Peaches n Cream, Prickly Pear - that's not even counting the Elderberry or Cola. I'm sure it was there in Rocket Fizz, but the sheer selection is overwhelming to say the least. If you purchase more than five (I think?) they offer you a small discount. I guess that extra money is to pay for your dentist bill a few months down the line. Really cool shop on the 16th Street Mall route if you like all things sweet and nostalgic. read more

When I walk into Rocket Fizz I am literally a kid in a candy store. And boy oh boy is that exciting to me! They have all kinds of new and old classics to choose from so it's safe to say there is something for every kind of sweet tooth here. They also have some seriously gross flavors of soda that I would never dream of drinking, but would love to watch someone else taste, especially on a day (hot wings soda or bacon soda for example.) And one of my favorite things is that they have bin candies that you don't pay for by weight. You pick a bag from the two size options and pay a set amount. You can then fill that bag up to the brim, or leave a little room if you don't want that much candy. Either way it's a flat price. On my recent trip I picked up all kinds of fun things from salt water taffy to Atomic Fireballs, from giant chewy Sweet tarts to candy cigarettes, from Freshen-up bubble gum with that weird liquid-y center to Pop Rocks, and that was just the beginning of it. They come in every color of the rainbow (and some colors you won't find in nature). Perhaps you might be interested in metal lunchboxes that take you back to your childhood, tin signs that say things like, "Mommy has a headache. Why don't you kids go play in the traffic?", and black and white 8 x 10 prints of Janis Joplin and other rock stars of a bygone era. Or maybe you'll want to dive in to the bathtubs filled with taffy and other kinds of individually wrapped candies. They don't weigh the candy, you just choose a bag size and fill it as full as you like for a flat rate. Not a bad deal. From the reviews I've read, people seem to focus on Rocket Fizz for its candy selection. However it's really about the soda at Rocket Fizz. So much so that they make their own brand of it and the full name is Rocket Fizz Soda Pop and Candy Shops. And it's for their soda selection that they they get 4 stars from me. I was able to get Brent and myself several regional sodas that I can't get elsewhere. I was also able to find Big Red (B's favorite) in an old-timey glass bottle. As for their candy selection, I wasn't that impressed. Anyone who knows me, knows I love my UK candy and Rocket Fizz had the smallest selection of British candy I've seen. Besides, I can get most of it at Cost Plus now for less. Rocket Fizz really is a fun store and I'll definitely return when I'm downtown and need to kill some time. read more

Really fun store! I was instantly attracted to all the bright colors like a moth to a flame. I made Michael wait outside with our dog while I went crazy with the candy. I bought two candy bars, some gummy candy, and pop rocks. It came to $7! Am I the only one who thinks that's a lot of money for candy? My Snickers Peanut Butter was $1.50 and you can for sure get it at Target for .89 cents. Michael's specialty British something or other cost $2. This place seems to love farts. There was fart candy, fart soda, fart spray. Farts farts farts. If you're into that kind of thing, then this is the place for you. Putting that aside (as I, myself, am not much a fan of fart culture), this place is great. So many candies that I had no idea ever existed (but I bet my parents do). Lots of candy (old and new), sodas, and old timey memorabilia like lunchboxes and signs for the collectors out there. The store itself is pretty roomy in Larimer Square, and the place is PACKED with stuff, wall to wall of sugary goodness. You can also buy individual candies, jelly beans and salt water taffies by the bagful, if you just can't decide what you want. Flat price for the bag, not by the pound. So.... LOAD THAT SUCKER UP! This is such a fun place to visit while downtown! The store has great hours (usually around 10AM-10/11PM) so you can go anytime of day and not feel crazy wandering the store for hours. Trust me, once inside you definitely will! One inside you first hear the old music, see all of the tin concert posters or signs with action heroes (these are for sale too), and the mini shopping carts for the kids. The selections in this store are amazing! Tons of candy ranging from chocolates, gummies, taffy, international items, and much more. Oh, and did I forget to mention the soda? Everything from root beer, cola, sarsaparilla, and the interesting popcorn and chicken wind soda! No matter what age you are you will have a blast visiting, buying items, and talking to the staff. Everyone I have run across is great at recommending different types of candy and soda. Just tell them what you like, don't like and they will point you in the right direction. This place is a pop (or "soda" depending on what part of the country you're from) lover's wet dream. You will walk in and feel like a proverbial kid in a candy store. Literally. You'll find every brand and flavor of soda(pop) imaginable here (Dr. Brown's, Bubble-Up) and some of the most outrageous: Judge Wapner cola? Kim Jong Il nuclear orange bomb? Bacon soda? Really? Even Jesus has his own bottled holy water (see pic). There's the "Wall of Soda" display rack showcasing every brand you'll find and shelves stocked with bottles everywhere. I came here because I was referred by a website that said they carry "The Pop Shoppe" sodapop. It had been over 30 years since I drank them back when they had a store in Wheat Ridge where Applejack Liqours is on Youngfield and it took me back in time to my childhood in the '70's. Five stars for that nostalgic trip alone. You can buy bottles individually but it is cheaper if you get a six pack. You can mix and match them too. There are also coolers if you prefer to drink your pop (or "soda") chilled. And not just sodas but candies too. Pop Rocks for that nostalgic "blast" from the past... candy cigarettes... bubble gum (Hubba Bubba)... lollypops... taffy... etc. Bathtubs filled with dime-store candies. Even original Garbage Pail Kids bubblegum cards still sealed in their wax packs (premium collector's grade pricing though). Rocket Fizz one of the coolest specialty shops in Denver to visit. If you are in Downtown/Larimer be sure to stop in. It's a sight to behold. And whether you call it "pop" or "soda" doesn't really matter kind of like whether you prefer Coke or Pepsi, it's all just six of one and half a dozen of another. Rocket Fizz is all about nostalgia, and it does it very well. You walk through and feel like, if you'll pardon the expression, a kid in a candy store, and oldies from the 50s play throughout. My visit to Rocket fizz was on a total whim when I was walking through downtown after a Rockies game, though I had always wanted to go-it's hard to deal with downtown for just one stop for me. I was really excited to visit and I'm happy to say I was most definitely not let down. As I walked through, I saw candies I had never seen before, candies I love that are hard to find, and even more candies I hadn't seen since I was a kid. As we browsed, we often hard "Oh wow, remember these?!" from people of all ages. There was a sense of pure joy from pretty much everybody in the place. Besides their great candy selection, Rocket Fizz also offers a CRAZY amount of soda, in all sorts...even "hot buffalo wing". Huh? I wouldn't taste it, but come on, that's kinda cool. The only reason this isn't 5 stars for me is prices-some can be pretty outrageous. I understand they have imported candies that are hard to find, but $9 for a decently small bag of British candy is a little steep from me. Still, overall Rocket Fizz is a really fun little store that's a total nostalgia trip, and it offers some great candies and some crazy sodas. I'll be back! read more

When you can walk into a candy store, ask the shopgirl for Jammie Dodgers, and not only does she know exactly what you're looking for but sold the last pack yesterday BUT can find you three other goodies just like it as well as something pretty close to the jelly babies the fourth Doctor on the old BBC used to offer - then, you know you've found a keeper. Love me some Rocket Fizz. I can find wacky soda and bacon-flavored Pocky, the big packs of Necco wafers and every crazy Japanese treat I could want, as well as bulk penny candy and a variety of British goodies. You have to check out the walls full of soda. Not just the old standbys, but crazier flavors than Jones could put out. And more brands of ginger or root beer than you can shake a stick at. Bummed we didn't have Jammie Dodgers for the Doctor's regeneration on Christmas Eve, but we had plenty of other goodies to help us cope, thanks to Rocket Fizz! read more

As this place is just down the street from my office and on the main walking route for my lunch break, I will probably end up frequenting this place a bit too much. Oh well... You can find just about any kind of candy you may have a hankering for in this sweet shop. Along with just about any imaginable flavored soda. I think I saw a Hot Wing soda and maybe even a Bacon-flavored cola? I'm not really a soda drinker, but if I was I can imagine I could have some fun trying some of these unique ones out. This place has the best variety of old school candy and a crazy selection of sodas. There's also an okay selection of Asian candy, but it's cheaper just to buy them at an Asian market. I was sorely disappointed to not find any Violet Crumble. That was one of my super duper favorite candy bars growing up in Hawaii. It would have been nice to verify if they even sold it and maybe I just overlooked it, but the staff was MIA and I was too short on time to wait around. Boo! I wanted to love this place. I wanted to go for awhile now. Decided to surprise my kids with a trip downtown to Rocket Fizz. So very disappointed. Walked into an empty counter, took us a few to walk around and find an employee. No greeting at all. We spent about 10 mins looking at everything, lots to look at. Fun nostalgic candy too. So expensive, I had figured it would be pricey but wow. I also thought they had a counter where you could sip on their huge selection of sodas, but no there is no counter. I had expected to walk into this super fun place, with fun employees, that was not the case. I would have happily spent more money if I at least enjoyed myself in there. So not friendly, lame vibe. The outside entrance has red velvet ropes set up to show the way in, cute touch. BUT, the ropes the were faded and the balloons attached were sad and old looking. One was popped and the other way out of helium. At least I can say we did it. Never again though. read more

Candy obsessed. While visiting in July we stopped in to Rocket Fizz in Boulder and once we moved to Denver in August, knew we had to check out RF in our neighborhood. Super duper cool! Such a fun place, so many ridiculous and fun candies and sodas! A dentist and/ or diabetic might not love this place, but I dig it. There is so much crazy sugar and obsurd packaging, it could potentially be quite overstimulating! Damn near every candy I could think of is here. And lots I couldn've never dreamed of. There are some imported candies too, but they are a little pricier. Plus some wonderful oddities such as flavored floss, dashboard dolls, and chattering teeth. They also sell old school rock poster prints and tin signs at fairly affordable prices. The employees were super cool and there were adults and kids squealing with delignt! If you have a sweet tooth, this is the place for you, they have nearly everything that you could think of in the candy department, as well as sodas. While they aren't what you would consider cheap, a mix and match six pack is $9.99, more than a quality 6 pack of beer, there selection is remarkable. If you want to try something tasty and different, I would suggest melon soda, cucumber soda, and any variation they have of the ginger beers (they have a huge selection). They sell sixlets here (pesonal favorite)!!! And different flavored kit kats from Japan (green tea, strawberry, orange, chili) and Melty Kiss chocolate!! I was telling my friends about Melty Kiss for years and couldn't even order it on Amazon and they had it here!!! It's a little pricey but it's like eating choclate air. Delicious choclate air. And I don't even like chocolate but I LOVE melty kiss. The owner is nice and oh so charming. If there is a kind of candy that you want or soda flavor they they don't have, just ask him. He will write it down and try his darndest to order it to the store. They are also open late so for drunked debauchery on a Friday or Saturday night (or if you really need some gum) this place is boss. Oh, speaking of gum, try the clove flavor because it's pretty awesome. They really do have a little bit of everything. I knew I had see them a Asian market so I stopped by there to pick them up and I got the same box for $12.99 WOW that is double the price of the other stores regular price!?
