At the Grand Junction store you can watch the toffee being made. There are four other Colorado locations - Montrose, Arvada, Cherry Creek & a kiosk in the Park Meadows Mall. Note, the Cherry Creek location has a very small parking lot. We were immediately greeted by a very friendly staff. The store is cute & I love that they still offer free toffee samples. Everything was excellent - I had dark chocolate ice cream and I bought some chocolate covered espresso beans which were totally good quality and tried some of their almond chocolate toffee petits. Seemed like a Colorado classic establishment type of place. I had been to Kilns and Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and all 3 of these places in Denver have great products but feel dated inside the establishments. Please get a modern refresh! I love unique Colorado vibe with the white chocolate cowboy boots etc. Just needs a modern interior refresh! Staff was friendly. There are like at least 2 - 3 different counters at the store. Kathleen was amazing! So much to say how the customer experience... from walking into the space and be greeted, then learning the process of why the toffee is kept in the freezer to where the candies are made, to being able to sample all the flavors of the ice cream! The best toffee I've had. Get the almond toffee in the fridge - the shelf stable ones are still amazing but just don't hit the same for some reason. They come in the traditional version (slab that you break off into pieces) or the petites (individual servings about the size of a truffle). Great for souvenirs. They have samples up front, and I was even able to sample the sugar free almond toffee (amazing as well but too much maltitol can have a laxative effect). There is plenty of parking in the lot although it can get quite busy. The store has some seating available in case you want to eat your chocolates there or buy some ice cream or coffee. read more

On January 28, I purchased 4 boxes of chocolates (3 two-pound, 1 one-pound) from the Arvada store to give as gifts. When I gave them on January 31, I noted that all four boxes had expiration dates of January 24 or January 26. I was stuck in the moment, so I gave them anyway, but I was surely disappointed, especially since one of the recipients opened a box and shared a piece, which was clearly past its prime. Enstroms shouldn't be selling expired candies--or if they do, they should clearly mark the boxes and, likely, discount them. I've loved Enstroms, and people in the store that day were friendly. This made the disappointment all the stronger, as I'd never have expected a faithful chocolatier to lapse on quality control. read more

I'd never heard of the Colorado confection company until we were gifted a box of Enstrom Assorted Milk and Dark Chocolates. The fillings ranged from caramels to nut clusters to soft cream centers. Our box consisted of two levels, 30 pieces in total. I didn't try the toffee they're famously known for & I'm not particularly drawn to overly chewy caramels or nutty centers, but milk chocolate with soft cream centers -- I can get into some serious trouble with those. I'm going off of memory & ventured guesses, as our box didn't come with an insert of descriptors, but (what I assume were) the cherry, strawberry, maple, & coconut fillings were the ones I most enjoyed. Super sweet, as to be expected. Three stars instead of four because the taste of the milk chocolate doesn't motivate me to purchase a box of Enstrom either for myself or as a gift. read more

I sure did find some tasty treats here! And I also appreciated the Yelp check-in offer of a free coffee with purchase - it was the perfect way to thank my husband for taking care of the kiddo while I indulged in some sweets. There were samples out of their chocolate covered toffee, which they're apparently known for. I helped myself to a few pieces because it was quite good! Fun to try something I wouldn't normally get. Instead, I opted for the dark orange truffle, the milk chocolate peanut butter square and a small scoop of carrot cake ice cream. The Peanut Butter Square was probably my favorite - perfect balance of salty and sweet and oh so creamy! The orange truffle tasted too strongly of alcohol to me, so it isn't one I'd get again. Lastly, the carrot cake cake ice cream - it was a very firm ice cream. I let it hang out and melt while I ate the other goodies because I prefer a custard consistency. But this stuff sure was good! It had all the great seasoning that carrot cake should. It even had some chunks of cream cheese icing!! My only complaint is that the people working there weren't particularly friendly. There a 2 coolers full of boxes of milk chocolate and dark chocolate toffee. Both are delicious. The box we bought miraculously disappeared within a few days. :) We did also get a box of the mixed chocolates - it had dark and milk chocolate. That was also so good. Review is on ice cream only. I repeat - ice cream only...well and the service at this particular location. I walked in yesterday to 4 employees who stared at me blankly without a greeting then continued to talk amongst themselves. I should have turned back then but I was intrigued by the Palisade Peach ice cream sign out front. I walked all the way to the back and and was perusing the selection when the young girl working waited impatiently I ordered 1 scoop of peach to go and was deciding on a second when she told her coworker to ring me up. Apparently the peach was at its end because she was digging down all the way to the bottom with her ponytail dangling almost in it. The carton was then thrown out. I also ordered a scoop of strawberry and again the ponytail was over the shoulder dangling above the ice cream. I was given the the ice cream with no tops and had to ask for them. I paid and the coworker placed my change on the counter and the young girl then placed my spoons on top of it. All in all not great customer service and I would recommend that hair should be pinned up for sanitary reasons. So how did it taste? Meh. (I love this word). The peach was the dregs on the bottom and not the flavor expected - it was not a very strong peach and it had an almost icy, sorbet density to it. The strawberry had much more flavor and was OK but again a slightly weird texture to it. With so many ice cream shops in the area I will stick to getting it somewhere else. (Just under $6 for 2 single scoops). All that said I completely agree that the almond toffee is absolutely amazing and I will definitely purchase it in the future. I'd heard a lot of good things about Enstrom's. So, I stopped by on Sunday to pick out Christmas gifts for out-of-state family & friends. The selection was decent and prices seemed fair. However, the customer service here was not good. Employees were standing around idle and couldn't be bothered to say hello or ask if I needed assistance (there were two other customers in the store at the time, none of whom were being helped). I did ask one question, which received a measly, single-word response. I got the feeling they were all thinking "I hate this job... is it time to go home yet?"... Not an inviting environment or somewhere I feel motivated to spend my hard-earned money. I guess, the way people hype this place up didn't match my experience. Too thick with the toffee. Basically no chocolate. The very very thin chocolate layers fall off. It has grounds of almonds as a coating on both sides and is pointless and messy. The almonds inside taste great- but you can't taste the toffee even though it is so thick. The pieces are large on the box- the don't break them up for you. When the word "toffee" comes up in the course of everyday conversation (as well it SHOULD), most people tend to think of the kind that yoinks out your fillings as you chew it. Enstrom's almond toffee is a world away from the jaw-cramp-inducing toffees or the brittle toffees that threaten to cut your gums as you try to eat them. This toffee is the melt-in-your mouth variety, with buttery, caramelly, chocolately drool-inducing flavor. Oh, and they've been making it for about 80 years. They know that once you have a good recipe, you don't frack with it. I have a serious sweet-tooth, so it's good that Enstrom's is about a 25 minute drive away and not, say, down the block. Because then I'd weigh 300 pounds just from dropping by every day to nosh on the free samples. The customer service here has always been helpful and cheery. Since I'm such a toffee junkie, I haven't tried their other confections. I stick to what I like. And what I like is toffee. I bought a 1/2 pound box for our Thanksgiving hostess in Longmont and was instantly elevated to "best guest ever" status. Did I mention that they sell all this deliciousness online? Better to stop into the store in person if you can. Otherwise you can't have access to those free samples I mentioned above.
