Got out of a meeting yesterday and decided I didn't need dinner. Nope. What I needed was a Dutch Chocolate Milk Shake from my favorite purveyor: Sweet Cow. Drove down to their South Pearl location and ordered the "not so big" version (no whip cream) from simply the nicest ice cream barrista I've met since my old favorite barista, Agnis, left Sweet Cow to pursue a different career path. Gretchen is her name and she lights up that shop like a starburst of kindness and positive energy. Those two servers (along with the best milkshake in Denver:) means that I'll be bringing all my friends and family to South Pearl to taste some of the best ice cream in the state served up from the nicest ice cream people around. I haven't had a pretzel cone before so I was intrigued when I saw this as an option. I was craving a waffle cone, but those are a bit too big. This pretzel cone was about the same size as a sugar cone so it was a perfect. Though it had stale like crunch to it, so I'll say I'm glad I got it, but I probably won't get this as a cone again. It's a small ice cream shop and they offer seating at a bar style indoors and they have several benches for outdoor seating. The ice cream is really creamy and delicious. Because I've had more good experiences than not, on average this place is still great, but my experience last night was one of the worst experiences I've had at any place in months!! 1) service was extremely slow and rude. Took over 10 minutes to scoop two single serve cones with literally no one else there. Also, the servers could not be more rude when we asked what each of their flavors was (I'm sorry, but how am I supposed to know what "ET Phone Home" or "Trick or Treat" is?!?!) 2) I've never been more appalled with the extremely small scoops. For $4+ for a single serving, I expected more than two measly half scoops. This is not right and a complete rip off. For reference, this was about a third of what you normally get. No clue why but both were DRASTICALLY small. I understand Covid has hit everyone hard, but this is just unacceptable and wish management would make it right considering we have been such loyal customers over the years. Sad to say, this might have ended our Sweet Cow loyalty. read more

We were at their Pearl Park location today to welcome spring. I had a hot fudge milkshake and hubby enjoyed a cup of the non-dairy mint chocolate ice "cream". His wasn't green, as I expected but he said it was good, not too minty. My milkshake was delicious, made was a good coffee ice cream. The paper straw had a large diameter, so it was easy to drink the milkshake and I discovered that the bottom was cut at an angle, make it easy to drink up the last of it. When I've had paper straws at other places in the past, they've gotten soggy long before I was finished - not this time. Sweet Cow uses high quality straws! So, delicious ice cream and environmental consciousness (with a paper and not plastic straw) - what could be better?? The store was clean and the staff pleasant and helpful. read more

I wish their vegan ice cream was better... I had the peanut butter oreo and it was so chalky. I couldn't eat much of it. Luckily got the tiny size. I would probably stay away from other vegan "creamy" flavors as a result. There are better vegan creamy ice creams out there. The blackberry lemon sorbet is redeeming, but it's pretty difficult to mess up sorbet. The flavor was good, not too sweet with a nice tartness. I got a pint of this. The atmosphere is fun and friendly. Staff is nice. No where to sit. Usually street parking available out front. Love that they're open late - that's a plus. If they step up their vegan ice cream game, make it creamy, smooth, and less "this feels and tastes like fake ice cream" flavored, they'd do very well with the vegan crowd. read more
