A hot afternoon in Denver and decided ice cream would make the day even better. While we were walking around the Highland area, Sweet Cow was located in a strip mall. The shop is small, very busy and highly efficient with regard to service. A good selection of different combinations were available along with plenty of samples. The raspberry chocolate chip ice cream in a pretzel cone was an easy choice. The raspberry flavor was bold and the chips were plentiful. It was a delightful combination. Local favorite for real. Probably one of the few places that's open decently late on weekdays too. When we got there, the line poked out of the door, but the staff was super friendly and fast, so it moved quite quickly. You can sample the ice cream too before you commit. There's pints and cookie ice cream sandwiches too if you like. I really liked that they have pretzel cones here and I've never seen that anywhere else. They're in the style of the hard pretzels, but they're a nice salty savory, crunchy addition to your ice cream. Great addition of flavor and texture. I got a single scoop of their banana cream pie and it was nice and banana flavor but in a subtle, not too sweet, not too artificial way with some marshmallows in it too. Let's talk ice cream! This was my first time trying Sweet Cow, but I have seen the line out the door a bunch, so I knew I had to check it out. We got there when there was just a couple of people in line ahead of us and it was right before the line had started to form. Believe me it is worth the wait of standing in the line. So impressed with everything here! The line was out the door, but moved SO quick. I tried to oatmeal cookie and the big Lebowski in a cup. The oatmeal cookie was literally a cookie ribbon through vanilla ice cream- super tasty! The big Lebowski is a vodka, kahlua flavor- like a White Russian ice cream style. Visited Sweet Cow while I was in the Denver area this month and thought it was alright. I feel bad because I cannot remember the name of the flavor I got - I feel like it was a Butter Scotch flavor. I sampled a few before deciding on that flavor. The sample was good, but a whole scoop was a little bit too sweet side and a little thick for my liking. Well I started the day without a glimmer of a thought of ice cream on the mind; and after an hour long pointless conversation with my little sister in California, while she debated what ice cream to get delivered I found myself influenced into decided on ordering my own ice cream delivery. Yes I am that easily persuaded. Well i have to say; the ice cream was good however I wasn't blown away. Here is my take on the two flavors I got: fruity pebbles and Nutella. First off I love anything fruity pebbles so I was super excited to see this flavor; and while as you can see from the photo it was loaded with fruity pebbles which I appreciated, I think it could have been better executed. As we all know fruity pebbles; cereal in general gets soggy and this ice cream was no exception. Especially because there are so many it's just spoonful of soggy pebbles. Insert sad face. I personally would have done a glaze if possible to keep them with a nice crunch or possibly grind them into a powder which would still impart the fruity pebble flavor and not the sogginess, and who knows maybe even do a quarter of the amount they added for aesthetics. Either way this one sadly missed the mark, but hey the bright side is there could be room for improvement for next time. Onto the Nutella. So I'm going to be honest hazelnut ice cream is hands down my favorite ice cream ever, but we all know we rarely see that on the menu, though Nutella (hazelnut spread) is quite common. Having a urge for hazelnut ice cream I decided to roll the dice with the Nutella in hopes that it would give me that wonderful nutty flavor. This Ice cream was good. Creamy and decadent but honestly just tasted like chocolate. The hazelnut flavor was a hint if anything? And I'm not even sure it was there I might have been just trying to convince myself lol. Either way the ice cream was still good, so I would totally give them another chance and try more flavors; but the two I chose today just didn't wow me like I was hoping. read more
