Re-soled Scarpa Helix climbing shoes
Audrey A.

I mailed my Scarpa Helixes to them for a re-sole and they did a fantastic job. Payment and communication was easy. The process took about 2 months total between when I shipped them my climbing shoes and when I got them back, but I didn't mind the wait since I have a second pair of climbing shoes.

Yup after 3 days... It's worse now

Extreme Shoe Service - Belts ready for pick up and shelf unit subdividing the shop counter from the personal space

Extreme Shoe Service

I have been in and out of this place for years. The service had always been slow and most of the…read moretime they were unable to fix what we needed done. I found a really great family owned place that had been in Boulder for two generations and I used them for years. When rents in Boulder got too high, they moved to Nederland. I recently heard that they finally closed forever about a year ago which left me in a quandary about where to get my husband's favorite belt repaired. It is nearly 20 years old and the leather quality sound but the stitching that holds the buckle and loop on had completely torn away. We went in on Friday to see if the staff here could fix it. They said they could and it would be ready on Monday. We paid in advance about what the belt originally cost but hand labor is not cheap these days. Amazingly, they called today to tell us it was ready. We went over to the shop and indeed it looked very good. At least now we can put off the search for a new perfect belt, hopefully for another decade. Note: the place is still a mess inside and there are still dissatisfied customers in the line ahead and behind you. Hopefully your project will turn out as well as ours did.

Is this a particularly busy season for shoe repair (Fall, 2026)? When I call the store to inquire, they say "we will give you a call when it's ready". If I had known how long it would take, I might have just "toughed-it-out" and continued to wear the boots!

Mr Shine Shoe Repair - Wallet zipper repair

I couldn't find any clear resources on how to fix this myself, and local tailors said they couldn't handle luggage repair, but recommended asking a cobbler. I found Mr Shine on Google and called ahead to see if they repair luggage, and then dropped off the next day. I was informed that they could try to replace the slider & pull, but that it may not be possible given some damage to the zipper, and they would keep me updated. Because they were unsure of the possible repair, I didn't have to pay anything at drop off (I really appreciated their transparency!). I got a call a few days later that the suitcase was fixed, and they were able to do the cheaper option after all. At pickup, the zipper teeth were straight, there was a leather reinforcement added to the end of the track, and the slider and pull were new and moved around smoothly. Their team is clearly skilled at what they do, especially for a repair that seemingly no other business wants to touch! They have beautiful handmade shoes on display in the store as well. The staff were kind and helpful both in person and over the phone. Definitely recommend for shoe, luggage, handbag repair & more!

But given they were quality boots for only $5 at the Thrift Store, I wanted to give them a chance. So, I bought them and took them to Mr. Shine. I HIGHLY recommend Mr Shine Shoe Repair for all your shoe needs. A+++ service and care!

He said they would be only a bit higher once he put them in. When I picked up the shoes he had instead added entire resoles to both shoes, saying there was a "bump" that prevented just doing the heel on one shoe. No extra charge but now my thin, minimal shoes had 1/4" soles. Right away I took a weeklong trip and on the second day, the entire sewing around one shoe Popped open, with all the threads snapped off short. The other shoe had started to snap off, too. A shoe repair shop said the Little Boot repair had sanded the threads during the resoling and they should redo them. When I returned, Fernando and I respectfully disagreed about whether he had caused the separation, but he generously agreed to resew them at no charge. I picked them up today, and he still did not charge me. He is still assertively claiming he did not cause the problem. I am not persuaded either way. However, my soft, flexible shoes are not minimal any more. And I spent 6 days of my trip in borrowed shoes that were uncomfortable on my bunion. You can take what you want from this tale. He asked for a review and there it is.

When I retrieved my boots, one of the shoe laces had been cut and was tied back together... Not only that, but there were other parts of the shoe lace which looked purposely worn down. The leather and an eyelet had been cut into as well; I suspect there was a slip of a tool which cut the shoelace and the shoe leather. The other shoe was fine. I told the man who was there, whom I assume to be the owner, that the shoelaces were never broken and were not worn out when I brought them in. I tried to use logic and compare the worn shoelace to the unworn shoelace on the other boot. He argued with me, claiming that I must have taken them hiking and broke the shoe lace. When I told him that I do not take these boots hiking, he then told me I must have tripped off of a sidewalk to ruin the laces. He then tried to sell me laces from the store. When I wore the shoes, I noticed the insides to be warped. After a week of wearing the "repaired" shoes, the heels started to come apart again. I understand mistakes happen, but this was a poorly done job and I was lied to. Please save your loved shoes by going elsewhere.

I turned that down and asked them to just complete the basic cleaning for the other pair of boots which cost me $10. They said it would be ready in a week and they would call when it's ready. A week and a half later I still hadn't heard anything so I called to inquire and I got a rude response for not having my ticket on hand for the store owner to retrieve the boots. Overall, I was unimpressed with the customer service and communication on their behalf. I couldn't believe the attitude I was getting for THEIR mistake of not calling me in the first place. The shoes were cleaned fine (not great) but I will not be taking any of my items back there, nor do I recommend anyone else to do so.
