They gave us two names, Bare Boulder being the most comprehensive and a 20 minute drive away, on a prominent street in Lafayette. I called, got info from the owner, Eli, about general pricing and timing. We took the bag of poles out 3 weeks ago, the estimate in person was at the low end of general approximation on the phone. We dropped it off and was told about 3 weeks as my husband had no need to camp with for at least a month. We picked it up today, ready on time and beautifully done with even higher quality cord than original. The shop is amazing, with antique sewing machine display, thousands of sizes and colors of zippers, piles of buckles and straps. It appears he can fix such parts on almost anything, luggage, jackets, backpacks, scuba BC vests, tents handbags, tote bags, recreation gear galore. We will certainly return as we wear out more and more of our gear.

The majority of my clothes are custom tailored for me. Shirts, pants, jackets. Jeans are not one of those items and typically they need to be adjusted for fit. For a long time, I have been searching for someone who can do a quality job, in a timely manner, and done so at a fair price. John Valher Alterations is now my go to spot. I picked up four pairs of jeans yesterday and dropped off nine more pairs yesterday.
