The dress that Penny hemmed at the bottom!

Penny was great! She responded immediately when I first reached out. I needed a matron of honor dress hemmed with less than a month until the wedding and she was extremely accommodating. My dress was ready less than 2 weeks after my appointment. Her prices are very affordable and reasonable! Would definitely use her again!

I can't say enough good things about Penny. I was seriously freaking out over who to go for to alter my wedding dress from Grace Loves Lace. I've never had a seamstress I particularly liked and no one had any recommendations. I found her on yelp and was surprised at her estimate ($100) and that she would come to my house and drop off the dress when it was convenient for me! Then when I decided I also wanted a reception dress she came the very next week to alter that one as well! She also pressed it and took out some fuzzies that were stuck in the mesh for free! My now husband could not believe someone would come to our house for so cheap and do an AMAZING job. Plus she was in and out of our house in 5 minutes every time so it was super chill. My dresses fit my body perfectly and I will definitely use her for future alterations.

The original on me! P.s. dont ever stand like this....I look pregnant!

Penny is amazing!! She totally transformed my late mother-in-laws dress from 1976 into a modern dream for me!!! A billion stars to Penny!!!

    same day alteration

Penny was absolutely amazing! I ordered my prom dress online and it came 2 days before my actual prom and didn't fit. I emailed Penny after finding her on yelp and she was able to come to my house for the fitting, then take in the waist, shorten the straps, and hem the dress in about 7 hours. The dress fit me perfectly in the end. She completely saved my senior prom.

Unreal!! Penny is phenomenal! She took my dress and transformed it into EXACTLY what I was looking for. I knew what I wanted but couldn't find it already made, so she did it! She is probably the best seamstress I've encountered for taking a bride's vision and running with it to perfection. She worked with my schedule, I live 2 hours north of her, in order to make our adjustments done in time for my big day. I got countless compliments on my dress and how impressed people were with how flawless and stunning it was! You will not be let down with her skill and impressive work. I would 1000% recommend her!

Penny did an amazing job on my dress. I loved my dress when I bought it, but I absolutely loved it and couldn't wait to wear it after Penny worked her magic on it. The dress was perfect! She did an amazing job, worked on it very fast, and charged a fair price. She only took two weeks when most other alteration places take at least a month. $290 for cutting off the train completely and taking it in around the waist. Definitely worth the price. I loved my dress and my wedding was beautiful. Thank you so much Penny!

She altered the lining to make it a V and took in the waist.

Penny was a delight to hire. I felt that her pricing was really fair (around $400) and her skills great. In all she shortened straps, hemmed the bottom, took in the waist, moved the boob cups, stitched in an optional lining to make it permanent, redesigned the back lining from straight across to a V, widened the armpit holes, and added a bustle. What I liked the most about working with her is her positive and easy going attitude during a the heat and stress of wedding planning. I will recommend her to any of my friends who need alterations to their wedding dress or a formal dress.

    My dress with alterations!

I trust her with everything -- and I mean everything. I regularly bring in designer and luxury pieces from Miu Miu, Prada, Chanel, and other high-end brands, including a Maria Lucia Hohan dress that cost over $4,000. I would not hand those pieces over to someone I didn't completely trust. Every time, my clothing has come back beautifully cared for. The same goes for my more everyday pieces from places like Zara and Reformation. I also regularly wear spray tans, so I have unfortunately brought in more than a few pieces with pretty significant staining. She has always been completely upfront with me about what she thinks she can remove, whether something may not come out 100%, or whether she needs additional time to work on it. I really appreciate that honesty rather than someone promising something they can't guarantee. And it's not just dry cleaning. I bring my expensive bedding here, and I've had her do alterations on dresses, skirts, curtains -- honestly, at this point, just about everything. After more than three years and countless items, I have continued coming back because I trust her and have consistently had a great experience. I send my friends here and recommend her all the time. When you're handing someone clothing, dresses, and household items that are genuinely expensive or sentimental, trust matters, and she has absolutely earned mine.

I was referred to her by Altar Bridal, where I purchased my wedding dress, so I felt confident that I was being referred to someone experienced and trustworthy with bridal gowns. Unfortunately, that confidence was completely misplaced. My dress originally fit almost perfectly. It was maybe a half size too big and only needed minor alteration. It is a satin dress, so I was especially careful about who I trusted to work on it. After the alterations, my dress is now visibly damaged. There are sewing marks all over the satin where stitching was done and then removed, leaving obvious needle and thread marks throughout the fabric. The dress is now crooked, and the rouching has been completely distorted and does not lay correctly anymore. These are not small imperfections that can be overlooked on my wedding day. The dress looks cheap and destroyed not delicate and elegant like when I got it. My wedding is only a month away. I brought her a dress that already fit almost perfectly, and I am now left with a damaged wedding dress and no idea how I am going to get it repaired in time for my wedding. I understand that alterations can be complicated and that mistakes can happen. However, when someone is trusted with a wedding dress, especially a delicate satin gown, I expect a much higher level of care and expertise. I also trusted this recommendation because it came directly from the bridal shop where I purchased my dress. I gave her multiple opportunities to fix the dress, but at what should have been my last appointment I didn't trust her to touch my dress anymore. If you are considering using this seamstress for your wedding dress, I strongly recommend doing your research and considering other options. I would never want another bride to be in the position I am in now. My wedding is 32 days away and I absolutely hate my dress now.

It could be done by mail shipping to and from Steamboat Springs, CO. They would check it, send an estimate and with acceptance repair and ship it back. That seemed unnecessarily complicated from a place like Boulder, home of many outdoor gear companies and repair support. We stopped in to the place we had purchased it, our REI store being incredibly helpful and knowledgeable of such repairs, though they don't do any themselves. They gave us two names, Bare Boulder being the most comprehensive and a 20 minute drive away, on a prominent street in Lafayette. I called, got info from the owner, Eli, about general pricing and timing. We took the bag of poles out 3 weeks ago, the estimate in person was at the low end of general approximation on the phone. We dropped it off and was told about 3 weeks as my husband had no need to camp with for at least a month. We picked it up today, ready on time and beautifully done with even higher quality cord than original. The shop is amazing, with antique sewing machine display, thousands of sizes and colors of zippers, piles of buckles and straps. It appears he can fix such parts on almost anything, luggage, jackets, backpacks, scuba BC vests, tents handbags, tote bags, recreation gear galore. We will certainly return as we wear out more and more of our gear.
