Judy SAVED THE DAY. I picked up my wedding dress 2 weeks before the wedding from another seamstress and it didn't fit. Like AT ALL, she told me to eat a cheeseburger or buy a new dress. I got recommended to go to Judy, she had me come right over and we had fittings every few days until it was PERFECT. She was incredible and came up with unique solutions to actually make sure I felt amazing in my dress. Her prices are very reasonable and her service and quality is exceptional. I loved working with Jude!!! She does her alteration appointments out of her basement and it's such a cute and cozy place. She is also so kind and fun to talk to during the appointments. My dress was very layered and elaborate, but she was able to alter it to fit both my heels and my flats and she worked really hard to fix some of the areas we were having problems with to ensure that it looked great on my wedding day. She also did a fantastic bustle on the back of my dress that I got a lot of compliments on. She even recorded a video with me to help teach my maid of honor how to do it! She took great care of my dress while she worked on it too and she always made sure we took lots of progress photos during our appointments so I could look at them and get some cute photos in my dress! Also, I went to her during some high Covid times and she took great precautions to ensure that both she and I stayed healthy and safe. I am so happy I found Judy and highly recommend her for your bridal and prom dress alteration needs! read more

Judy is a fabulous seamstress! She helped me get the perfect fit in my wedding dress and did some major work to shorten the length while moving the lace to still hang beautifully off the edge. She made the straps more comfortable, and took one of the layers of the train out so only the lace layer was long. Perfect for our beach wedding in Mexico! And my bustle was exactly what I had hoped for! Judy is patient, communicative, reliable, and fair with pricing. She also altered one of my bridesmaid's dresses and did a perfect job with that, too. I hope to take other items to her in the future! read more

Judy is very meticulous with her work. She goes the extra mile. She will make sure you are thoroughly satisfied.

Judy is incredible. She transformed 3 gowns for my wedding - and they all fit like a glove! The silhouettes were complicated and intricate and you'd think that the dresses had been made for me when she was done with them. She is not only SO good at her craft, but also wonderful to spend time with. She has a lovely home studio with great lighting, too. I have recommended Judy to many of my friends and I couldn't speak highly enough about her. read more

5/5 stars for Judy!! She made my wedding dreams come true altering my sample sale wedding gown to perfection. Judy is attentive, creative, made super helpful suggestions, and even was able to perfectly make pockets in my ballgown!! My wedding was a fairytale, but Judy was the one who made me look like a princess! I can speak to Judy's attentiveness because Judy probably saw me no less than 6-7 times leading up to my wedding!! She is so thorough and constantly checked to be sure things were just to my liking. Judy had insightful vision for how the dress could transform to fit me and my style, even aspects of my dress that I never thought about or questioned. There is no better person to put your trust in than Judy! In contrast, I had another dress with another seamstress in Cherry Creek (a larger, very expensive high end operation), who only saw me twice for actual alteration appointments and once more for a final check. It's no question that I would go back to Judy instead of anywhere else for every need of mine in the future. I also appreciated her flexibility working with my work schedule and her willingness to see me in the evenings. read more

Judy did such an incredible job altering my wedding dress! When I originally came to her, I had some second thoughts about the dress and whether or not I'd made the right choice. After she hemmed the bottom, thinned my straps, added a new zipper, deep cleaned it, and more, I felt absolutely beautiful in my dress! It fit perfectly and I received so many compliments on my wedding day. Judy was such a joy to work with, and I really valued her kind and professional demeanor when interacting with both myself and my mom during appointments. Highly recommend her for anyone seeking wedding dress alterations, or alterations of any kind. She's amazing! read more

Judy came to me as a recommendation a few years ago for a bridesmaids dress alteration (and it was wonderful!). I called her earlier this year to alter my wedding dress, and brought along a plain veil, my grandma's dress, and a slight vision of what we could do with some lace. She not only altered my gown to fit perfectly, but she also helped me honor my late grandma by using a panel from her gown in my veil. She took great care in her work and I am so grateful I was able to incorporate her legacy into my outfit. Pandemic wedding planning was not ideal by any means, but having Judy's help for our perfect day was priceless. read more

I had contacted another lady, the 'Wedding Gown Seamstress' in Arvada twice with no response; as the lead advertiser in the area I assumed that she must have been swamped or uninterested and looked elsewhere. What I found instead was a wonderful lady in Broomfield, Judy Drake, to do the alterations on my wedding dress. Not only does Judy have a sweet, accommodating, and thoughtful personality but she did an incredible job on my dress. She accepted my order just 4 weeks before our wedding and returned my gown quickly and in pristine condition. Despite the amount of work my just-cleaned silk dress needed, she kept it spotless and was enthusiastic to take on the project. In addition to working on the side seams to fit, she shortened the lining and put in stunning 11 point French bustle. I received more compliments on the bustle and fit of my gown than almost anything else in our entire wedding! Judy also has extremely reasonable and competitive rates; if you have your gown in a bridal salon I highly recommend bringing it to her instead, if nothing else than for the personal attention you will receive. read more

I am so thankful for Judy! I designed my dream wedding dress online and when it was delivered, it was not as I imagined. I was pretty bummed that I was going to have to settle for what I had. Imagine being in a new city where you know absolutely no one and you have a wedding dress that you need altered. Stressful?! Absolutely! Thankfully I saw the amazing reviews for Judy and gave her a call. From the first conversation, I felt confident that I made the right decision. Three fittings and a BEAUTIFUL wedding dress later, I KNOW I made the right decision. Judy is a phenomenal seamstress and she made my dress come alive. She is very thoughtful and ensures that the dress is customized how you would like it. I had no idea about bustles and the different styles but Judy made sure to give me all of the options and walk me through how to bustle my dress on the big day! Also her prices are very reasonable. I had my wedding dress altered here. Judy was amazing to work with. Very attentive to detail, asks all the right questions, and has great advice. I can't say enough great things. I think if I had gone anywhere else I would have felt like a number, and the dress would have been altered ok and would have been more expensive to boot. This is months late but because I'm looking at wedding photos I'm reminded of how well she fixed my dresses for me!!!!!!! I fell in love with an orange dress that was too long and too tight she was able to shorten in AND loosen it around the under boob area. It looked amazing! My second dress was a floral dress too big around the under boob area and she easily tightened it! She was easy to work with and very patient and welcoming to me and my needs. Thank you so much!!! read more

I am so glad I found Judy! I was in quite a bind when my bridesmaid dress was delivered only a week before a destination wedding. Judy was able to get me in for an initial fitting within days and my dress was ready in less than a week. She was so professional and sweet and her work is impeccable. I must say that Judy is phenomenal at what she does. She has suggestions but completely leaves YOUR style up to YOU. She's a perfectionist and never sighs or moans when you see something that just needs a teeny adjustment. Judy was a such a joy to work with. She altered my dress as well as my husbands tux for our destination wedding. She was kind, accommodating and just an overall gem of a person. Alterations by Judy - Judy basically help me reconstruct this dress. I found it on craiglist and had it shipped from Atlanta, GA. Judy did such a great job! - Sewing & Alterations Near Me

I cannot rave enough about Judy-the entire experience was wonderful. She altered my wedding dress which was no easy feat. It had dozens of layers of differing lengths, different materials, a top that was Huge on me a belt that wasn't attached and needed a bustle. She met with me numerous times to get my perfect fit. The top didn't move all night despite dancing and jumping around but she also made sure I could sit and still be comfy. My many layered dress needed some layers removed to lay better then flowed and swished beautifully thanks to her precise skills. And the real kicker...she created a bustle that laid flat and you couldn't see. My sister saw the dress the first time while it was bustled and thought I just chose not to have a train. Not only does Judy provide professional high quality alterations she is also very personable, welcoming and kind. My friend and I left every fitting giggling and excited to see the next step. When I put my dress on the day I picked it up I cried...it was more beautiful than I imagined and fit like a glove. read more

5 weeks before my wedding, I picked up my altered dress from the dress shop and it didn't fit. It cost a fortune for them to take too much in and not get it right. After crying my eyes out, my friend recommended Judy so I gave her a call. She very sweetly fit me in and had me come by a few times. Not only did she get my dress fitting again, she made other alterations that set it over the top. And believe me, this was no simple dress. VERY heavy, full of layers, lace, beads, etc. She knocked it out in less than a month and for a fraction of the price. It is in her basement but she makes you feel so welcome and is truly just a kind person. DO NOT let your shop alter your dress. Go here first! Trust me! Judy is wonderful! I had first gone to another, larger seamstress company and received a quote that was more than I paid for my actual wedding dress! Feeling less than satisfied with that, I started searching again and found Judy. Her place was in a more convenient location and her quote much more reasonable. I needed a significant amount of work done (bodice fitted, a train removal and shortening of the skirt) and the construction of the dress made all of these things quite a chore. Judy had a great attitude through all 4 or 5 of our fittings and did the work with great professionalism. After I picked up the dress after the final fitting I got it home, tried it on for my mom and realized some of the layers started standing straight out (not a good look). I called Judy back and she got me right in to fix the problem. I took away 1 star just because the final price ended up being a little more than what I was quoted but like I said it was A LOT of work and the final price was still about $100 less than the quote I received from the other seamstress company! I would definitely recommend Judy for any sort of dress alterations you have need! read more
