I had a very good experience with Wedding Seamstress! I had a floor length ballgown with a large train that they managed to bustle it so it looked lovely! They also added a large bow in the back which looked great. I went for 3 fittings over the course of a 6 months, so they could make sure the dress looked good as we got closer to wedding day. I thought they did a fabulous job with the alterations but communication between appointments was a little spotty. Twice, I was given instructions to communicate via text (I assume with the owner) but no one replied and I had to follow up days later. Not the worst, but definitely frustrating when you have a wedding to-do list a million miles long. Back to the positives - they gave very great instructions on how to bustle. On final fitting day, I brought a bridesmaid and a seamstress walked her through how to bustle. The bustle was complicated since I had a large dress, so the demonstration was wonderful. They also provided written in instructions in case we forgot. Day of the wedding- my dress was bustled without a hitch! I am so thankful for their professionalism in that regard. I was pretty disappointed in my experience. They didn't ruin my dress and they did have it ready on time, so 2 stars. They did not, however, steam and press my dress as I paid for them to and I had them take extra fabric from the bottom of my strapless dress and create detachable draped sleeves to wear during my ceremony. These were horrible and they essentially gave me two pieces of fabric with a snap. They didn't properly attach to the dress nor did they hold their shape. They kept falling off during my wedding photos and trying to tuck them (they always still stuck out) ruined my photos. I paid $640. I went to them because my friend had a great experience with them and because I did not want to haul myself to Denver for dress fittings, your girl likes to keep it in the burbs. They were affordable and flexible. When I first came to them, I planned to remove the train from my dress, but changed my mind and they were so cool about it and encouraged me to keep it even though they would have made more money if I had removed it. I'll also say, they got my alterations done quickly, after I dropped my dress with them, I only had to come in for 2 fittings after and on the third, I brought my dress home. I had a terrible experience at this place, which was surprising because it came highly recommended. I walked into the store at my appointment time and waited 10-15 minutes before being seen, even though there was no one else in the store at this time. Once I was finally roomed and into my dress, the girl helping me left me for 10 minutes- completely exposed before returning to zip me up. Not only was I left with my butt showing, but another associate walked by and I asked where the person helping me was, and that associate did not offer to help cover me up. The girl helping me did not introduce herself so I didn't even know who to ask for. After she clipped me in, she estimated at least $1500 for alterations which was SHOCKING because I was told $750 ballpark over the phone. I understand you can't give an exact quote via a phone call, but I described the material of the dress and everything that needed to be taken in, so the actual estimate being DOUBLE was not ball park at all! Needless to say, I was stunned at the price and needed a few moments to think things over. Once again, the associate did not return for 10-15 minutes to help me get out of my dress. I'm sure the seamstresses do great work, but not worth the price and ESPECIALLY not with their horrible customer service! I unfortunately did not have the experience that everyone else had. I live in Centennial but drove this far because of the positive reviews. I called ahead of time and asked for a ballpark quote to hem a dress and add a slit. I think I spoke to Brad and he said $300. I made the appointment and when I got there, I asked if they could confirm that they could add a slit. I was told yes. I moved forward with the process and also added a bustle. When the girl who helped me came back, she told me my total was $600. This was double what I was quoted. It couldn't have been just adding a bustle. I ended up paying because at this point I was running short on time. Everyone came off very confident in the abilities. When I returned about a month or so later, I left in tears. The hem was uneven. The left side of the slit was much shorter and the fabric curled in. The slit they added was ugly! Instead of the typical "v" cut, they cut a semi circle at the top of the slit and it was so unnatural looking. Then they added buttons to the back of my dress. I didn't ask for them. They looked nice but they were interfering with my zipper. When I brought it up to Deedee she said that they'd have to take the buttons off because I didn't pay for them (through no fault of my own). I expressed concern that you'd be able to see the stitching on the dress by removing the buttons, she assured me I wouldn't. Great customer service would've been to give me the option to leave them since it was not my mistake. Lastly, the bustle buttons were the ugliest thing I've ever seen in my life. I have seen many bustles and they have always been with small satin buttons or clear ones. They put five of the regular plastic buttons across my waist. They were large too - I would compare them to the size of quarters. When I brought this up, Deedee said that was how bustles were made. When I expressed my displeasure she brought out a different option - bra hooks. This was slightly better looking and would be more concealed so I told her to go with those. They should have showed me options beforehand and I would have just asked that they cut the train off my dress as was my original intent before I was convinced to leave the train and add a bustle. I returned the next day and the dress was still not fixed. The buttons were removed and to their credit, I couldn't see evidence of them. The bustle was fixed enough but the slit was still really bad. They then blamed the fabric of my dress as it was cut into a circle skirt. They saw my dress before I agreed to alterations and if they couldn't do it, or if the fabric was going to be a problem, they should've said that instead of acting confident that they could do it. The stitching alongside the slit was also poorly done. The seamstress confirmed it needed to be redone because it kind of bunched together. The slit could not be fixed properly. They Mickey Moused the fixes to get it to be ok. But it was definitely me just settling and knowing that the skirt had been cut into at that point and what I got was as good as it was gonna get. That was devastating To top it off, they offered to press my dress for free. I guess they felt bad and that was their fix. When I came to pick my dress back up the day before my wedding after leaving it behind to get pressed, I immediately took it to the hotel and took it out the bag. To my surprise, the dress had absolutely not been pressed (when I picked it up the lady unzipped the bag and showed me the bodice to confirm it was my dress but I didn't pull the train out or anything because I didn't want to disrupt what I thought was a freshly pressed dress) I had to iron the skirt of my dress the night before my wedding. I paid $600 for an experience that left me in tears and that essentially ruined my dress. I still wore it but it should never have looked the way it ended up looking. read more

I had a very negative experience at The Wedding Seamstress in Arvada, during the process of altering my wedding dress. From the very first fitting, my dress was altered in a way that completely contradicted the pictures I had initially shown. When I politely voiced my concerns, the owner immediately made me feel like I was to blame. I tried explaining my vision again, using the same photos, but each time I asked a question, the initial response was always "no." Only after some back-and-forth would she reluctantly suggest a way to make things work. This pattern continued through my second and third fittings, and each time, I left feeling down, and like I had done something wrong. After reading other reviews, I saw that I wasn't alone--many others described similar experiences and felt like they were being gaslit by the owner. Although I hesitate to use that term, I do believe it applies here. We were finally able to get the dress looking like I wanted for the most part, but not without a ton of unnecessary stress and frustration. I had to wait a couple of weeks to make sure I was not writing an emotional review before writing this. I went in for my consultation and was quoted $700 for a hem, bustle, and cup change. I was not aware of prices of alterations, in general, and asked if I could wait before committing due to the shock in price. I left with my quote and went to my car. While in the car, the owner came out and knocked on my window. Initially, I thought she was being kind by giving me a warning of not letting any other company short cut the bust. However, when I expressed that I was just not sure about the price initially, and that I could come back in (after her putting the fear of a ruined dress into my head), she replied " your wedding is too soon anyways, we don't want to work on your dress". My wedding was 9 weeks away, and their website says they can have dresses completed in 15 days. What is the point of scaring me and then turning me down? Tl;dr: This place oversold their skills and seriously underdelivered. Their owner is rude and made me feel sad and mistreated. I was not excited to wear my dress for my wedding reception. Give your money to literally any other tailor besides this one. It's one thing to make mistakes, but it's another thing to make your customers feel bad about those mistakes. If they had been even slightly nicer to me, I likely would not have felt the need to write this review. Super long version: I bought my dress off the rack because it was discontinued. I knew then that fixing the beadwork would be pricey. I went with the Wedding Seamstress over another tailor because the other tailor expressed concerns about ordering the beads they would need to fix the beadwork fully. Since the Wedding Seamstress did not say anything of the sort, I went with them.The price they quoted me for the beadwork repair specifically seemed low to me, but I'm not going to question a reasonable price. That should have been my first red flag. During my final appointment, I noticed that a part of the back of my dress was drooping near the top. When I pointed this out, they told me they wouldn't be able to fix it and instead I should use boob glue. This drooping wasn't an issue when I first brought the dress in and appeared to only have occurred after it was more fitted. I don't appreciate being told to use boob glue during my final fitting, but the more significant issue was the beadwork they failed to repair. I noticed not all the beading had been fixed and pointed this out. They told me they'd fix it on the spot and to wait right there even when I asked to come back later to pick it up. I used my lunch hour to come to this appointment, so I only had limited time. I waited for a while, then they brought back the dress again, and I noticed more issues with the dress and the beading. They took it back again. This continued a few times. Finally, the owner came back with an assistant to ask me to look over the dress. I started to notice more issues with the beading, and this is when it was suggested that I go to Michael's to and buy a tool to help secure the beading myself since they "wouldn't have time to do it all." I was also told I only "paid for one hour, and now they've worked on it for three" with the implication that I should be appreciative of their work. I was surprised by this - the beadwork was extensive, so when I dropped the dress off, I assumed it would take a lot of manpower than a single hour to to repair. The owner then brought me back to the workstation and asked me to look over the dress again. I noticed more issues with missing beads they still had missed. This is when the owner and I spoke about my frustrations, partially around exceptions, she told me I misunderstood her comment about the Michael's jewelry kit. She also told me she designs dresses all the time and "beads fall come off all the time on the runway." Well, if that's the case, that should have been communicated to me from the start. Later on the owner told me, "I'm sorry you felt this way...." This statement is never an apology as it doesn't take accountability for the actions of the business and instead blames the person feeling emotions for their emotions. The owner also pointed to a magnifying class they were apparently using to find these errors. I find it odd that I was able to see the problems with the beading without the magnifying glass just by glancing at the dress. The owner was fairly aggressive in the conversation and I don't like confrontation, so I backed off because I felt like I was being attacked for expressing my frustrations. It's not an ideal way to run a business. The owner was so aggressive I felt like I was about to cry, which is an emotion I've never felt before during a business transaction, and wanted to leave before any staff members saw me cry. I left with the dress shortly after just with a hope and a prayer that the beadwork would stay on and the hoping that their suggestion of boob glue would work. I could not continue to stay there because I had already missed so much work, so I said the dress looked fine. I also was concerned about crying in front of the staff. While walking out the door, The owner thanked me for my feedback and then handed me a 13.50 bath and body works pack. Why not the boob glue y'all were talking about? I'd call that a missed opportunity. Even better, why not just offer me a discount for such a poor experience? If I had been refunded, I would have felt more okay attending my reception with beads coming off left and right. Before I got into the dress the day of, I noticed at least five areas with beading issues. It was disappointing, but not surprising. The only reason I gave them two stars instead of 1 is because the staff besides the owner were fine to deal with. I've never written a review this long or detailed because I've never felt so mistreated, disappointed, or dismissed by a business. read more

However they were able to get it done right on time! First consultation they provide a quote and if you want to move forward, they'll start the measurements then. So no need to come back. I tried on my dress, the arms needed the final touches and they were able to finish it there within 20-30 mins. Saving me another appointment!! Thank goodness! The pricing did seem a little high. I went to the Wedding Seamstress to get my wedding dress altered. I had a pretty short turn around time so I was incredibly grateful that they could squeeze me in. My first appointment went great! I felt that Deedee really listened to my wants and needs. She informed me that my 2nd appointment would be my last and to allow for extra time in case any last minute changes need to be made. My second appointment was with a man (can't remember his name). During my fitting, I told him that I was worried about the length in the front. He told me it was due to the scalloped hem and nothing was offered to fix it. I also told him that it still felt loose on top and I was concerned about the straps falling off. He told me that it was due to how the straps should sit and the only solution that was offered was for me to buy "boob glue" which they sold in house. I left feeling that I didn't really have any other options for my dress. My wedding took place on a beach. The day of my wedding, the boob glue wore off extremely quick. This may have been a decent option for an indoor wedding but it didn't hold up outside in the heat at all. I spent a majority of my wedding day adjusting my straps to try to keep them from falling. I just really wish that the guy who did my 2nd fitting would've addressed my concerns a little more so that I could've truly had a dress that fit perfect for such an important day. read more

I could not have asked for a better seamstress/team to work on my wedding dress! I'm so happy with the service provided. My first consult was wonderful (pre covid so no masks necessary). My dress was like 10 sizes too big for me, too long and I wanted to change the straps and lower the back. All of this was not a problem for this group! They took photos of the dress originally, then of the changes that I wanted to make, did some pinning and I was out! So quick and easy. The other nice thing to note is that all alterations are done in the building so they don't take it somewhere else to do the work. For the final fitting, we had one little change to make and DeeDee was able to make it on the fly! So wonderful that she took care of us that way. I love the way my dress looks and fits now and I'm so excited to be able to share photos of our wonderful day coming up! Her staff is so great, very friendly and always helpful. They were so understanding and were able to remedy the dress and undo the work the previous seamstress completed and return the dress to my preferred condition. I wouldn't recommend this place. I had a terrible experience during my second fitting. I paid substancial amount of money to get the modification I wanted in a professional manner. She quoted me $659 but ended up paying $625 since I paid cash. All this to have my dress hemmed, change the neckline from straight to sweetheart and add volume to the train. The owner was very rude and I feel very sorry for her employees, they were really nice and professional. Unfortunately, that's not enough to keep a customer. Let's be real here, she's not out to be your best friend but she's a sweet as they come. Most importantly, her work is amazing and she really knows what she's doing. Do know this- you're not going to go in there and have her pin your dress every which way etc... This seems to be a bride's expectation however she doesn't do this for 2 good reasons: 1. I had a wonderful experience at the Wedding Seamstress. I bought a dress that was a sample and needed a lot of work to fit me correctly. The shop referred me to The Wedding Seamstress. I don't know anything about altering clothing, but I felt that it could be fixed to match what I had in my mind. Deedee told me upfront that it was doing to be a bit of a challenge, but that's why I was bringing in a professional. I can sympathize with Lauren L's comments that some of the initial meetings seemed brief. Deedee is a seamstress. A really talented seamstress. She may seem curt but she is focusing on your dress and how to make it look really awesome on you. Have you met other seamstresses? The 75 year old east german seamstresses you yells at you, "You have no boobs, so dress no fit you!!! Can't help you!" ? Well, I have. Think Soup Nazi from Seinfeld. If you had a personality contest between seamstresses, I honestly think that Deedee would definitely end up in the top 5 of most socially talented. She is hip and modern and I assure you, she is not annoyed. She is just doing some magical transformation of your dress in her mind. She basically had to reconstruct my dress for me and I trusted her completely. It can be stressful handing your dress over to someone else, but I knew that Deedee was going to make me look good. I brought a girlfriend with me to some of the appointments and she was really impressed by the transformation. I LOVED the way my dress turned out and I felt that the cost was totally reasonable. The coolest part is that now she opened her own bridal boutique with custom designs. They are really beautiful. If you are just beginning to shop for a gown, you should go by her store and see her designs. She is extremely talented and I couldn't recommend her more highly. read more
