What a great day! My husband and I just love local art, and supporting these artists. I hadn't heard of the Jackalope Arts festival, which apparently appears every year just up the street from me in Olde Arvada. We went out on this sunny and warm October day, glad to enjoy some time outdoors in the sun. We were greeted, as well, with an enjoyable stroll through local venue booths sporting everything from beeswax products to locally mixed spices to jewelry made from local stones (think petrified wood and Marble's marble, among many others). I was drawn to the designs at a T-shirt shop, and when I couldn't find my size in the design I wanted, they assured me that I could email them and they would make it for me and send it along to my home. The jewelry maker at Waystone (mywaystone.com) promised that if I could bring her a piece of petrified wood that I had discovered in my backyard, she would make it into something special to display in my home. While she accepts items through mail, since she is just down I-70 just east of Denver, I mean to bring it right to her. I was excited to visit this arts fair, and came away with some nice items, along with the cards of some artisans to whom I will reach out for some custom items. Jackalope Arts fair is a gem located in Old Town Arvada. I was obsessed with it and all the shops in the area. Old Town Arvada has many cute bars and little shops. The Art Fair is a great display of that as well. We shopped at local vendors and got tasty bites from some food trucks. Definitely worth a drive here at least once! read more

Downtown Arvada offers a variety of craft stalls. From books to honey to handmade trinkets, there's plenty to peruse. I was able to pick up some honey, sunscreen, coffee beans, stickers and a new tshirt and even a new handmade leash for my dog. Like I said, variety. It's definitely worth checking out, even just to walk around but I bet you'll find something that catches your eye. read more

Crystal and I along with 2 of our friends has such a great time at this festival. There was a lot to choose from when it came to being in Olde Town Arvada from restaurants to food trucks and sales of all types of goods. There was even live music and plenty of sunshine. It is such a convenient location with having the lightrail so close by. And we had a great time walking around and seeing so many smiling faces. Thanks again! read more

This was a great venue. I really enjoyed myself. A lot of the people that were there had such creative inspiration in them and it makes you feel good talking to them because you recognize their creativity and their inspiration got some business cards along the way, so I have some great ideas for Christmas now, everyone was wonderful pleasant nice a large selection of just everything from crafts and clothes to salsa and the price of everything seemed very reasonable as well. BEDASSLING with Talent: Within a few (5 crossings and park area) where Talented of the local fare reigned. First I was caught (With Aspen my Red Heeler) by a delightful Jewelry designer, with beautiful stones. Her talent was breath taking and very pleasant to speak with. We meandered through the extensive fair of talent. Sometimes a bit overwhelming with such talent. Many wish to talk and or show their crafts, some individuals waited to see if there was an interest. I met with another "Nature Artist" who crafter wall art from Nature, flowers, Aspen leaves and twigs, Herbs and a plethora of natures' beauty all delicately aheared to natural wood pieces she found in all areas. I stood in amazment, how she view the world as her place of Art. Met a delightful man who had Alpaca socks, head bands, scarves, shawls, if one does not know about Alpaca, there are many large Alpaca farms here in Colorado. These are delightful sweet long neck rather short (not a Llama) who's wool is shaved during the later year, and is the SOFTEST wool against one's skin. DELIGHTFUL and the gentleman and I spoke for a time and took his card. Wishing he had a larger shawl for the coming winter. The Arvada town is quaint, filled with delicious restaurants, bars, yoga studio, historical buildings, a place to visit all year long. Rather set back nature to relax, including the Jackalope ARTS And the ARTS is clearly an ARTISTIC Realm of Talent Lots of People with Children and Lots of Dogs!!! read more

We had a lot of fun. There were a ton of vendors. I was surprised by how big this event was. It was located in Olde Town and we got lunch there as well because of the convenient location of if all! Everyone was so kind helpful and friendly. I enjoyed the scavenger hunt list and I'm using my pumpkin bucket for a plant right now! I am definitely looking forward to going next year! I love local maker's markets, but this was my first visit to the Jackalope Arts Market and it was better then I expected! This particular market was held at the McNichols Civic Center, which was a wonderful venue in my opinion- warm on this chilly day, but cool for hot weather also. Just know to dress accordingly to visit the outside food trucks, and keep in mind that there are three floors of vendors, so don't miss out on those up top! I am not sure if all Jackalope Arts Fests are held at this location though. Another bonus- no entry fee, like some of these events charge! This fest had numerous high quality vendors, but was not as crowded as other art fests. Maybe because this one did not have music or beer, which I was totally fine with. You can really focus on the items for sale without being elbow to elbow with others. Like most of these events, there were all kinds of things to buy including natural cosmetics, apparel, jewelry, tasty treats, paintings and other art, etc. my friend got a super cool lamp made out of found industrial parts. If you're looking for a fun way to spend an afternoon and this fest happens to be around, I highly suggest a visit! You're sure to find an item you can't live without or a gift for a loved one! read more

This art and craft fair is fabulous! The Exdo Event Center is such a great venue. Turns out I've been here previously for several concerts (Bayside and Alkaline Trio anyone?) The layout was great and there was an epic (no, seriously it was EPIC) selection of vendors running the gamut from home decor, crafts, apparel, and accessories, you name it and they had it! They even had several bars open for those who crave adult beverages while you browse. While I wish there had been more food truck options, what was there more than quenched appetite! Yes Little India I am looking at you. You are on my radar now and always. A must see for a casual artisan shopping environment!! Come back next year pa-pa-pa-please! read more

I'm a huge fan of supporting local artisans! Each weekend I look through the Denver events calendar online to see what's happening around town. I spotted the Jackalope Indie Market and it definitely piqued my interest. We decided to add it into our schedule for the day. We had never been to the McNichols Civic Center building before, which was a pretty cool venue! Parking around there is a little challenging but we were able to find a pay lot a couple of blocks away. 7 bucks isn't too bad! There was no charge for entry, which was nice to see. The venue housed three floors of artisan booths. The event is very well curated! There was a nice variety of products, some being very unique that we had not seen before. They even had a bar set up on the top floor so guess where we will be starting our shopping next year! :-) We were able to make several purchases and have signed up on their mailing list and make sure that we don't miss it next year! read more

I didn't realize how huge this place was. I accidentally stumbled upon it when I was going to Rino Beach Club. It has a large variety from arts, dog treats, olive oils, jewelry, and clothing. It's not just the alley way there is an inside to the left and right. There is also the jack-elope bar you can stop into too. read more
