I got my wedding dress tailored with Ziya. I WOULD NOT recommend going to Uni Tailor. TL;DR - I was body shamed several different times and several things I specifically asked to NOT be done to my dress & I was told would not be done were BLATANTLY disregarded and wee done and irreversible. I first brought my wedding dress to Ziya and the top of my corset-style bodice was snug. I said nothing to him to suggest I was unhappy with my body or to suggest that I was trying to lose weight. Rather than seeing the dress and telling me the work that would need to be done to ensure my dress would fit my body properly, Ziya told me he would not cut the dress yet "in case I decide I want to lose weight." *AGAIN, I said nothing about my size or any intention to lose weight. Ziya made this comment at at least 3 of my appointments NOW we movde on to the actual alterations. I will attach a photo, but my dress has a mesh "V" down the front. The cups of my dress were gapping, however, the fix for this was to tailor the breast cups, as taking it in would not have fixed the gapping issue. Ziya asked me if he could just take in the mesh "V" instead (As a seamstress myself, I knew he wanted to do this because it was the easier solution, however it would change the look of the front of the dress entirely). I told him I would like the cups altered and to NOT take in the mesh in the middle. He agreed and while I was wearing the dress, he pinned the cups and marked where he would cut and tailor them. The next appointment, I come in, and the cups were not touched. Instead, there was an ATROCIOUS, messy zig-zig stitch in a different thread color down the middle of the nude mesh. This would not be removable as it would ruin the strength an integrity of the mesh since the needle would have caused holes. Not only did this look awful, but it also made the corset of the dress too tight and not look flattering on me (I had, in fact, lost 8 pounds so it was back to fitting me before he brought in the mesh. He knew the stitch looked bad, to the point that he tried to talk my into putting fabric behind the mesh "V" to "hide" the stitch (This would have also entirely changed the look of the dress). **I HAD SPECIFICALLY TOLD HIM I DID NOT WANT HIM TO DO ANYTHING TO THE V OF THE DRESS** Additionally, I ordered the dress from the shop I bought it at to already come with a shortened train, to the length I waned it to be. Ziya had hemmed the length in the front for my height and asked me if I liked the length, and if I was okay with him cutting off the excess, as it was permanent once the fabric was cut. I said yes, but went out of my way to confirm that he was not going to cut the train. He confirmed there would be no length taken off the train and the next time I came in, the length I agreed to had been cut from the front, but he had also cut the train just as he said he would not. My experience here was horrible. I was left feeling self-conscious of my body, upset with the fit of my dress, and that what I had asked for had been completely disregarded in favor of doing what was easiest. It felt like a complete waste of my $950. read more

Uni Tailor saved my wedding dress! I wore a beaded dress that was complex to alter. I had purchased it from David's Bridal and their alterations department caused nearly irreparable damage. Uni Tailor was able to repair all the damaged beading, and help fix the extremely uneven hem. All of the beading at the bottom of the dress hand to be hand sewn to keep it in place. The dress was beautiful for the wedding and I didn't lose a single bead!! It's very hard to find an actual tailor these days. Great great tailor. I brought in two rugs that I needed sewn together into a longer rug (was difficult to find one for our long hallway). I would NOT go to Uni Tailor. Zaya was extremely inappropriate during the fitting. He said multiple things that made the poor alterations feel like it was my fault for my body shape. Ultimately they did a terrible job on the dress and were so rude that they started yelling at me. Ziya is the most unprofessional person I've ever encountered. He made me feel bad about my body, he did a poor tailor job, and when I left a low review he called my cell phone and screamed at me and harassed me over the phone. Ziya and his team are the best! I have been going to Uni Tailor for several years and have had everything from shorts to suits tailored there. Usually the end result is perfect, but, whenever anything needs to be re-tailored, I can just take it back, and they will fix it free of charge. The prices are also lower than anyone's. I have been to several tailors including two others in Boulder and I have to say that Ziya far surpasses my expectations of service that I would expect. He cares a lot and will go over leaps and bounds to make his customers being happy. He also does things that I never even knew were possible from other tailors. For example, I had a pair of pants that were nice but at least two or three sizes too big. He took all the panels apart, worked some sort of sorcery, and it ended up looking flawless! The same thing with my dress shirts: I always thought that darts were the only option to slim down the shirt but after I expressed that I don't like the look of darts, Ziya presented me an option to take the shirt panels apart and have it cut down to avoid the ugly look of darts. All of this at an affordable price! Honestly, my mind gets blown every time I see the finished product. Ziya isn't just a tailor, he is a magician... or at the very least an exceptional artist and master of his craft. Truly a hidden gem. Seriously, give him a chance, you won't be disappointed. read more

I really like this tailor. They are reasonably priced and get the work done quickly. They even gave me the option to save and reuse the original thread on a pair of pants they were hemming- it costs more but it was nice knowing that I had that option. Wanted payment up front. I don't pay for services before the work is done. Also said he doesn't do refunds if you change your mind before work is done. Only gives credit. Why would I want credit at a tailor? Plus, he wanted $50 dollars to replace a zipper. No thanks Uni Tailor. read more

If you are a female I would steer clear of this place. The owner, Zia, sexually assaulted me. I went in to have an inside pocket sewn on a baggy jacket. Upon picking it up he asked that I try it on. I thought, "Ok, why not?" - upon my first visit dropping off the jacket I thought that I had left making a friend, as Zia was very friendly and we exchanged light-hearted stories. After I tried on the jacket, he told me that it was baggy and he could alter it for me; that's how it began. He firmly placed his arm against one of my breasts and moved his arm along my breast as he "measured" something. He lifted up my shirt to expose my naval, and in doing so his finger tips grazed the bottom of my breasts. I just wanted to get out of there and couldn't think straight so I proceeded to give him a hug and leave. He put his arms inside of my jacket and under my shirt and touched the bare skin on my back. I would like to remind you that I went in to pick up a jacket; the work had already been accomplished and the work was to sew the inside of a pocket back together. I filed a police report. The police didn't find any incriminating evidence during their investigation and my case was closed. Please stay away from here. The mental effects are not worth it. read more
