Unfortunately had a pretty bad experience here recently that ensures I won't be returning. I have…read morebeen getting pants hemmed here for a few years now, and they've been fine. I don't feel like it's anything stellar but it's close to my house and convenient. Payment is required upfront before the service, which I don't like at all and I think is a pretty bad standard for a tailor, paying before you see the outcome of the service. I brought in a pair of athletic pants a couple weeks ago for a simple hem, and when I got home I noticed they had awful iron burns on the bottoms, I hadn't noticed when I picked them up as they were folded on a hanger with the one side that was okay facing out. These are completely sold out pants that were pretty hard to get in the first place and I was super upset. Went back in and she admitted they were iron burns and sometimes the iron is too hot, and offered to pay the price of the hem back. I was still pretty upset by this, as I took a perfect pair of $70 pants in and came out with horribly burnt ones. They're wearable, but it looks awful and is noticeable. My boyfriend went back and talked to her knowing I was so upset, to see what else she could do, and she insisted the pants couldn't be $70, he showed her the receipt and she told him to come back the next day for a refund in cash when she'd have it. She ended up giving half the cost of the pants back. My problem is that the iron burns were incredibly bad, for her to not have noticed them as she was ironing and mention it to me when I went back in for pick up is concerning, as it either shows a lack of attention to detail as she's working or that she was hoping I just wouldn't notice, which is pretty upsetting. These are very obvious, and anyone ironing the pants should have immediately seen them while ironing. They're in multiple places and the marks don't match up, showing that they were burnt and then the iron was moved and they were burnt again, it didn't stop after the first burn. I also don't at all like that she told my boyfriend she'd provide a refund and then gave half when we went back to pick them up, it just felt crappy and like she was trying to backtrack and not make it fully right like she had sounded like she was going to do the day before. If she had told him she'd pay half upfront and that was agreed on I'd be totally fine, but she indicated she'd be providing a full refund, which I think would be a good business practice, and is something a business I'd want to support would do. This just felt like she was trying to make it go away with the bare minimum, and like her mistake was somehow an inconvenience for her to fix. I'm just honestly very disappointed, and now if the pants do come back in stock and I can repurchase I don't even have the full cost back to do so, I'll still be out half the price trying to just end up with what I had before I took these in to this shop (a non burned pair). There are just way too many red flags here for me to ever want to return to this shop. If you want non burned clothes and want to support a business who doesn't act like their mistakes are an inconvenience to fix, and one who will make things fully right when they mess up, stay away from this shop.

This is a long-overdue review of a wonderful experience. My daughter ordered her Senior Prom dress…read morefrom BHLDN as she had her Junior Prom Dress, which was gorgeous. There were a number of errors on BHLDN's part which led to the correct size/color dress arriving on the late side. Since it came from BHLDN's bridesmaid line, the length was made to accomodate heights up to 6'3". Daughter is tall, but not that tall. We were expecting that, and had an appointment with my regular tailor, who I'd used for years. They didn't tell me that they were now sending out to someone else, and when the dress came back the Wednesday night before Prom, it looked like they had handed sewing scissors to a toddler. You can imagine, Daughter was in tears. They tried to convince me it was fine, and asked for payment. I took the dress and told them to call my husband to discuss payment. We walked into Carolina's shortly before closing and were treated with sympathy, courtesy, and total understanding. First, they talked with us about the nature of the material, what had happened with the first chop job, and what our options were going forward. They also immediately reassured my daughter that they would get the dress done in time for her to try on and fix any issues. With guidance, Daughter chose which direction to go, and the next afternoon we returned to find that Carolina's did exactly what they said they would do. The price was very reasonable too. They could have really bled us dry but they didn't. No further alterations were necessary, and the dress looked beautiful. They really went the extra mile for my daughter. Needless to say, Carolina's is my go to place now, and I recommend them without hesitation.

Young's cleaner buyer beware…read more About a month ago my daughter found the PERFECT homecoming dress - you know big deal milestone it's her last homecoming She needed a minor alteration and I let her take the lead on using the shop of her choice - I was skeptical due to the cost she charged my daughter She dropped it off 2 weeks before the dance I went to pick it up and they told me it wouldn't be ready until the next day because she needed to clean it. My daughter didn't know I went by so she went by as well and they told her the same thing she needed it longer so she could clean it We went the next morning the DAY OF and we could see the dress and it was absolutely destroyed. It looked like she drug it behind her car. Black stains and marks all over it. When i showed her and refused to accept this she told me it was my fault because I didn't tell her to clean it. She kept cutting me off and trying to talk to my daughter To which I said "no you speak to me I'm the adult and she's a child" She had no plans for resolution and after 30 mins of yelling at me calling me mean she finally refunded my money. I told her the ONLY reason we went to her was because she was a small business and we believe in supporting small businesses. She screamed at me "IM NOT A SMALL BUSINESS I MAKE 500,000 DOLLARS A YEAR" She blamed me and my child for the dress being ruined and told us we damaged the dress. It was in her possession for 2.5 weeks. She then told us she was doing us a favor because she is booked 3 weeks out. Homecoming is in 4 hours and I am out over 400 dollars on accessories and nails alone to match the damaged dress. In tears I have a senior in high school with a destroyed dress and nothing to wear. Believe the bad reviews online and do not ever go to Young's not only does the place smell like dirty socks they do not take ownership of their mistakes do a poor job and when you confront them they become combative - it wasn't until I threatened to have her charged for theft (of the dress and services) did she agree to refund me.
