I so hate writing this review as I wanted this to be so much better. Interior is very nice with the rock influence displayed throughout. First out the hostess staff is absolutely incompetent . They had no command of the software that they were using to manage reservations and wait list. Arriving a little before peak dinner time we were told a 15 minute wait. After 30 minutes I asked how much longer it was going to be, the response was we are going to go walk the restaurant to see what tables are available. A manager came to the stand 5 minutes later and was able to seat us immediately to a table that was open the entire time. It was so chaotic that one of us received a different menu. Seems that they have a reduced menu currently but one of our party received the full menu with items that were not currently offered. I'm not sure how that even happens. Service, meh. Austin was very friendly and helpful but kitchen brought out 2 entrees about five to ten minutes before the other two entrees came to the table. Now to the food... ugh where to start. Onion rings, overly breaded and not crispy. Blackened chicken Caesar wrap. First mostly lettuce, very little chicken. Second the chicken was cold, so basically time trimmers chicken out of the freezer. Boneless wings. Absolutely no crisp to the breading. Once again seemed like Tyson frozen boneless wings. Burgers. The buns were extremely larger than the burger patty. The burger was over cooked on the outside. Asked for mustard when the burger was brought to the table but it did not show up until the last couple of bites. When it came time to pay the waiter disappeared. I know this is a new location but there were so many issues that I would not recommend this place to others. There are too many other downtown locations than to pay for high priced poor quality food.

I had very low expectations coming here, first because anything KISS does is usually relatively mediocre and secondly I've never had a good experience at a themed restaurant of any kind. I'm glad to say this place met all expectations. My cheese curds were basically chopped up mozzarella sticks, which in itself wasn't bad, but are they really cheese curds? Meh. And while the chicken sliders were ok, they were like half the size of what a slider should be. But the most disappointing part of the day was the service. After the initial drink, there was a 20 minute wait before any of the staff asked me if I wanted another. The one thing I'll be actually interested in is to see a band in their upstairs stage. That might get an upgrade in the score, but really, this isn't even good enough to be called a hard rock cafe rip off. There isn't much interesting memorabilia, not even KISS stuff. If you don't go, you aren't missing anything. The one nice thing was that at least nothing on the menu was overly overpriced.

Visited Rock and Brews for a late lunch on Saturday where we experience excellent service, great food and drinks! Our server was super attentive, making sure we were happy with our food and had water. He did not rush us to order or to pay, which was nice! I wish I got his name to include it, he was really great! I enjoyed a delicious cocktail that was not too sweet and perfectly spicy (spicy watermelon margarita). I also really enjoyed the bbq chicken salad. There was a lot of chicken and the salad was huge! Our table enjoys the southwest egg rolls which came with 6 pieces, just enough for our party. Everyone seemed to really enjoy their meals. The decor is super cool! Tons of rock posters and memorabilia around. Posters on the ceiling and drum kits on the walls. Tons of TVs to play all the sports. Will definitely go back, especially to check out the second floor for live music, and the rooftop once it's warm enough.

This is the former hopcat and former woody's. Basically, they painted the walls after hopcat and hung new stuff there and off the ceiling. They also cut back on the beer taps. Food was really good, staff were great. A little pricey, but they have a great happy hour. It is a music type theme, the staff wear concert style lanyards as nametags. The menus look like old timey record jackets, they made part of the barback look like concert speakers...

Rock & Brew just opened up in Royal Oak and what a fun place! They kept restaurant downstairs, second floor is live music - big bar and a few tables to get food; third floor is a partially covered rooftop bar. Staff was super nice! I came to listen to the band, will need to come back for food. Loved the live music lounge - great decor! Tried big pretzel- perfect bar food.

Surprisingly, we went for happy hour to check out the specials and just get a taste of the vibe. The staff was more than inviting, very friendly and very helpful. This place is awesome just to walk around and take a look at the way it was decorated. I've been through all of the transitions of this building and this by far is the best. From the rooftop to the first floor it is top notch. We ordered the sliders, and the beef that they use is fresh and delicious. They know how to make a slider for sure crispy edges not too much stuff on the bun just enough to enjoy and want more. The rooftop is it a great space, Jason was the bartender up there and he was outstanding. Introduced himself by name asked our names (rare these days by younger people), he was inviting an entertaining. He definitely made us want to come back sit upstairs and have a cocktail.

I had a little bit of time today so I stopped in to check out all the hype about Rock & Brews. It was such a fun vibe from the moment I walked in. I really enjoyed the decor and checking out all the fun stuff! I am happy to see how they renovated the space. The second floor will have live bands and the third floor will be for a DJ. The menus are great with an interesting cocktail menu and food. They even have a Happy Hour which I was excited to see. I had a coconut mojito and strawberry margarita...both delish! I also tried the HUGE pretzels with beer cheese and spicy mustard. The beer cheese had sautéed onions on top...OMG...so good! It was a fun afternoon watching March Madness and cheering on my KY Wildcats. #gocatsgo

This has to be the coolest space in Royal Oak. The rooftop brings back old Woody's vibes from the 90's. The food is also very good. We tried the giant pretzel, fish and chips, pot pie and purple raindrops donuts. Very friendly and attentive service. The pot pie was pretty exceptional but the Purple Raindrops were just amazing! The decor is extremely cool and I love the fact that it's localized to long lost Detroit area venues that I remember fondly. Will definitely have to come back to see a band.

It was a lovely experience and the food was for the most part very delicious. Service was friendly and good but a tad on the slow side (not our server's fault, they seemed pretty busy and I think she may have been the only waitress working, so she was absolutely juggling a ton). They were out of the "pretty potatoes" which was disappointing because they sounded super delicious. The restaurant is a little dark and when very busy can get a little loud. The three women at the table next to us were having a very loud conversation (of which I picked up every word) and I could barely hear my fiancé, which I didn't love, so the acoustics are a bit odd. That being said, the decor and vibe is very home-y and everyone that works there was very pleasant and lovely, from the hostess to the man that refilled our waters. We got the charcuterie plate (selected two cheeses and two meats; comes accompanied by fig jam, mustard, sardinian crackers, and cornichons), the caesar salad, the short rib, the arctic char, and the olive oil cake for dessert. All of the food was really exceptional and delicious except I found the short rib to be a tad dry. We each ordered a cocktail, I got a spritzer and my fiancé got a seasonal Pimm's cup-type cocktail that used house-made cranberry syrup. They can accommodate gluten free diets easily which is also a plus. Overall, we will absolutely be coming back!I want to try that Wagyu Pastrami Reuben!

It's great for a casual date or a nice meal with friends. We started with the bread board which was alright. I think they described the bread as focaccia, so I was expecting a bread with more of a crunchy crust and the classic dimples on top. However, this bread was fluffy and soft, but it was still very good. I'm not sure if I would get it again since it felt like a bread board I could put together at home. I preferred the bruschetta we got last time. For my entree, I went with the chicken parm which was very good. The chicken was coated well and the sauce was delicious. She was kind, attentive, and professional throughout the meal. Sadly, her service was the only truly positive part of our visit. For my entrée, I ordered the gnocchi with Palameno sauce. The gnocchi itself tasted fresh and was well made; however, the sauce was overwhelmingly garlicky--so much so that it nearly made my eyes water. There was no real depth of flavor beyond the garlic, which made the dish unbalanced and unpleasant. My husband ordered the homemade ravioli stuffed with portobello mushrooms, which was genuinely good and the best dish we had that night. That said, both entrées arrived completely on their own--no sides, no garnish, and not even freshly shaved or grated parmesan offered at the table. We were surprised to learn that everything was à la carte, yet this was not clearly outlined anywhere. Even basic side salads cost $6 for very small portions, and the entrée portions themselves were quite small for the price. We also ordered the $8 bread board, which was honestly baffling. The bread was cold instead of warm and served with low-quality oil, vinegar, and very subpar parmesan (comparable to grocery-store brand), all placed in tiny separate cups with no herbs, seasoning, or explanation. It wasn't mixed or presented in a way that made sense--frankly, we weren't sure what we were supposed to do with it. The calamari appetizer tasted good, but the portion was so small it wasn't shareable, which defeats the purpose of an appetizer. The drinks were awful. My husband's soda tasted flat, and we wondered if the soda gun was dirty. There was virtually no liquor in either cocktail--mine tasted watered down and unpleasant, almost like river water. To make matters worse, the limes were dry and visibly brown. Overall, the entire experience was a 3 out of 10, and that rating is solely due to the excellent service provided by our waitress, Yvette. Unfortunately, between the underwhelming food, confusing and poorly communicated à la carte pricing, very small portions, subpar drinks, and lack of value for the cost, this restaurant did not meet even basic expectations. We will not be returning and cannot recommend D'Amato's to others s this restaurant's food was NOT elevated. For the prices charged, fine-dining restaurants should expect far better quality, execution, and overall dining experience. I have no idea how they stayed in business for over 28 years.

We went for trivia and expected it to be the same as always, unfortunately it was not. They erased our points we've earned for a free glass, these are no longer honored. The menu has significantly changed: flights are $2-$3 more, no longer include flight bites, an upcharge for premium pours (which is understandable), no longer has a $5 bottle credit, and each glass is now $3-$5 more per pour. Why did you have to make every last item on the menu more expensive? I understand that the economy and inflation contribute to these things, but to increase the price and get less on everything throughout the menu plus not honor points earned for a free glass is a slap in the face. I'm just crushed at the blatant disrespect for the regulars that come every week for trivia or other events, no warning. Our trivia night just got a whole lot more expensive and we will be looking at other locations with more reasonably priced beverages and snacks. I hope they still allow us to bring in our own food, they did this week but who knows if that will also change. The staff seemed stressed telling us the new rules as well.

The popcorn was so light and flavorful straight out of the kitchen, but became chewy as it sat atop the piping hot polenta. I really enjoyed it however. Next time I'll eat all the popcorn first. I also had lobster dumplings, which was good but the dish wasn't cooked through. The filling wasn't hot and the pasta was very under on some bites.
