Stopped in for an (unexpected) early dinner. This place just tugs at the Rock & Roll heartstrings from the moment you walk in!! We were seated immediately upon entry and our waitress recommended an IPA - which was really good!! I ordered the Big Bang shrimp tacos and they did not disappoint!! Before our food came out, our waitress told us to go walk around and check the place out - which we did!! The 2nd floor is where they have bands play. They went All Out on the decorations there!! Outstanding!! The 3rd floor was outdoor seating. Every staff member approach us with the question 'Did you see ...' The staffs excitement to work in this cool place was so evident and it made our visit that much more exciting!! We are looking forward to coming back to hear a band in the near future!! I so hate writing this review as I wanted this to be so much better. Interior is very nice with the rock influence displayed throughout. First out the hostess staff is absolutely incompetent . They had no command of the software that they were using to manage reservations and wait list. Arriving a little before peak dinner time we were told a 15 minute wait. After 30 minutes I asked how much longer it was going to be, the response was we are going to go walk the restaurant to see what tables are available. A manager came to the stand 5 minutes later and was able to seat us immediately to a table that was open the entire time. It was so chaotic that one of us received a different menu. Seems that they have a reduced menu currently but one of our party received the full menu with items that were not currently offered. I'm not sure how that even happens. Service, meh. Austin was very friendly and helpful but kitchen brought out 2 entrees about five to ten minutes before the other two entrees came to the table. Now to the food... ugh where to start. Onion rings, overly breaded and not crispy. Blackened chicken Caesar wrap. First mostly lettuce, very little chicken. Second the chicken was cold, so basically time trimmers chicken out of the freezer. Boneless wings. Absolutely no crisp to the breading. Once again seemed like Tyson frozen boneless wings. Burgers. The buns were extremely larger than the burger patty. The burger was over cooked on the outside. Asked for mustard when the burger was brought to the table but it did not show up until the last couple of bites. When it came time to pay the waiter disappeared. I know this is a new location but there were so many issues that I would not recommend this place to others. I had very low expectations coming here, first because anything KISS does is usually relatively mediocre and secondly I've never had a good experience at a themed restaurant of any kind. I'm glad to say this place met all expectations. My cheese curds were basically chopped up mozzarella sticks, which in itself wasn't bad, but are they really cheese curds? Meh. And while the chicken sliders were ok, they were like half the size of what a slider should be. But the most disappointing part of the day was the service. After the initial drink, there was a 20 minute wait before any of the staff asked me if I wanted another. The one thing I'll be actually interested in is to see a band in their upstairs stage. That might get an upgrade in the score, but really, this isn't even good enough to be called a hard rock cafe rip off. There isn't much interesting memorabilia, not even KISS stuff. If you don't go, you aren't missing anything. The one nice thing was that at least nothing on the menu was overly overpriced. read more

This place is a total gimic as expected. I feel like there is definitely a crowd of suburban chain loving people who might dig it,but for me it's a place I never need to return. The food was not good. I would compare it to what one would expect from an Applebee's with most of the cooking done by a microwave. I was charged $3 extra for a burger with a lettuce bun that came out as just a burger without the bun and one wilted piece of lettuce. The service was adequate I definitely could tell they were understaffed. As for the upstairs music venue the sound was awful, the beers were warm and you could taste the resentment in the bartenders for having to be subjective to shitty music on repeat. Visited Rock and Brews for a late lunch on Saturday where we experience excellent service, great food and drinks! Our server was super attentive, making sure we were happy with our food and had water. He did not rush us to order or to pay, which was nice! I wish I got his name to include it, he was really great! I enjoyed a delicious cocktail that was not too sweet and perfectly spicy (spicy watermelon margarita). I also really enjoyed the bbq chicken salad. There was a lot of chicken and the salad was huge! Our table enjoys the southwest egg rolls which came with 6 pieces, just enough for our party. Everyone seemed to really enjoy their meals. The decor is super cool! Tons of rock posters and memorabilia around. Posters on the ceiling and drum kits on the walls. Tons of TVs to play all the sports. This is the former hopcat and former woody's. Basically, they painted the walls after hopcat and hung new stuff there and off the ceiling. They also cut back on the beer taps. Surprisingly, we went for happy hour to check out the specials and just get a taste of the vibe. The staff was more than inviting, very friendly and very helpful. This place is awesome just to walk around and take a look at the way it was decorated. I've been through all of the transitions of this building and this by far is the best. From the rooftop to the first floor it is top notch. We ordered the sliders, and the beef that they use is fresh and delicious. They know how to make a slider for sure crispy edges not too much stuff on the bun just enough to enjoy and want more. The rooftop is it a great space, Jason was the bartender up there and he was outstanding. I had a little bit of time today so I stopped in to check out all the hype about Rock & Brews. It was such a fun vibe from the moment I walked in. I really enjoyed the decor and checking out all the fun stuff! I am happy to see how they renovated the space. The second floor will have live bands and the third floor will be for a DJ. The menus are great with an interesting cocktail menu and food. They even have a Happy Hour which I was excited to see. I had a coconut mojito and strawberry margarita...both delish! I also tried the HUGE pretzels with beer cheese and spicy mustard. The beer cheese had sautéed onions on top...OMG...so good! This has to be the coolest space in Royal Oak. The rooftop brings back old Woody's vibes from the 90's. The food is also very good. We tried the giant pretzel, fish and chips, pot pie and purple raindrops donuts. Very friendly and attentive service. The pot pie was pretty exceptional but the Purple Raindrops were just amazing! I stopped into Rock & Brews in Royal Oak this evening for their soft opening, and wow--this place is absolutely amazing. From the moment you walk in, the décor grabs you. The vibe is really, really cool, especially upstairs on the second floor. You can already tell this is going to be a go‑to spot, and knowing they'll soon be hosting live bands makes it even better. The food was fantastic across the board. I ordered the South X Southwest egg roll, which was packed with flavor and easily a standout. I also had the smashburger with fries, cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. We shared the steak nachos as well, and they did not disappoint. On top of all that, the service was top‑notch. Ashley was amazing and took very good care of us--attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. Great atmosphere, incredible food, and outstanding service, especially for a soft opening. I ordered a BBQ chicken salad & was eating it when I realized there was no chicken in it. Our server/bartender got me a side of the chicken and while I was waiting for it, I felt something hard while I was chewing the salad. I pulled out a plastic tip to a squeeze bottle from my mouth (what I can assume). Our server grabbed the salad and I was able to get a pretzel instead (safe bet). The pretzel was really good and came out cute. He didn't charge me at all for my food which was nice. Overall really cute place inside. My boyfriend and I stopped in during what should've been a slower time (maybe 8-10 tables total), so we were expecting a relaxed, enjoyable experience, but that's not what we got. Our server wasn't very friendly from the start, which set the tone. After placing our order, we ended up waiting about 45 minutes for our food. The only update we got was around the 30-minute mark, and even then it felt like we had to prompt for it. When it came time to pay via table side card reader I asked for a text receipt. The waiter tapped no receipt and walked away. Overall, the service really missed the mark, especially considering how slow it was. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be back. Sat at the restaurant bar for 20 minutes and nobody asked if we needed anything before we basically had to yell at bar back to get some service mind you that there were 4 people behind the bar and when we did receive a menu and placed a food order we waited patiently to receive our food another 20 minutes later no food and other people seated after us getting there food orders we inquired as to our food order someone finally goes in the kitchen to check and we were told our order was given to someone else at that point we were done with there lack of service and told them to forget it and we left. BAD, SLOW service! Call it "opening day jitters" but when it's not crowded and there appears to be plenty of wait staff, one doesn't expect to wait 10-minutes for a server to ask you what you'd like to drink! If the wait was part of the trend to ignore somewhat older patrons (we're in our late sixties) then I guess Rock & Brews succeeded. We were also a bit perplexed why we had to climb up to the second level to be seated, as there were PLENTY of open tables on the main floor. That said, "management" likely tried to have enough servers on hand for opening day so they spread out the customers. Of course, since the service was so slow, they could have saved some coin by cutting the wait staff in half since you wouldn't notice there were more than enough servers since they were so slow. It's a typical sandwich/ burger and pizza joint but I can't comment on the Alice Cooper "Poison" burger because we were forced to walk out of the joint because of the really lousy service. There's construction going on so it's a little tricky to figure out how to get in. I'd wait until they figure out how to run a restaurant before you check it out. I ordered a drink, the bartender literally has an wildly shaking pouring hand and proceeds to miss my glass with half of the stingy pour $18 Johnny Walker Black, pouring it on the bar top . Even the patron next to me noticed and made a face. I raise my eyebrow, and the bartender gives me a ghetto "What?" Then she gives me attitude when I immediately pay the bill with no tip and leave.Then, when I call from the parking lot to talk to the manager and give them a chance to explain themselves, the hostess leaves me on hold for 7 minutes after she tries to avoid getting the manager when I tell her it's about the bad service.... I call back again and she acts like she's putting me on hold and hangs up on me. Who needs this when I can just go to a better place. RIP Rock & Brews.... Went there for a work anniversary dinner with my team of 10. Made a reservation a week in advance. Table was set up and ready for us which was great. That's the only positive thing I can say. We all ordered dinner at the same time, but the food was delivered sporadically. I got my nachos first. It was a business dinner. I'm not going to start eating while everyone waits for their food. 20 minutes later, four others got their dinners. Another 20 minutes later the four people who ordered pizzas got theirs. The last co-worker who ordered the Poke Bowl never got it. The server told us it took awhile to make rice. He ended up telling her to just put it in a to go box because everyone else was done eating. The restaurant wasn't even half full so I'm not sure I understand the kitchen delay. The decor is cool but not cool enough to overcome the horrible service and average food. read more

If you love classic rock this is the place for you! Live music show was the Detroit Cherry Bombs! They rocked the stage for three hours! Nonstop music and dancing. The crowd was amazing... a great mix of ages! Def come back. Hope to see that band again... they were that good! read more
