Came to the Dow for a work happy hour and it just met all the bar standards. Nothing too elevated, service was a bit slow and only a small portion of tables were available even though the restaurant was empty. i got the hot chicken sandwich and it was drenched in sauce (which i appreciate) but it did loose some crisp and it was not at juicy as i like. All around a good bar tucked in birmingham for a quick beer and bite.

Espalon had a dope giveaway event here the margaritas were so delicious

Located in the middle of a busy Birmingham street. Parking is important, the city loves to enforce street pay parking to the minute and garages can be pricey. Visually, the bar and pub looks great. Dark wood Irish and semi modern furniture. Great covered patio fronting the sidewalk with heaters. Good beer and liquor selection, rear bar for events to be leaving the front bar for normal customers. The bar stools look great, but have odd side ridges that mean they are only good for skinny people. The menu does not have prices, a real concern for some of the more traditionally expensive liquors available. I also got left at the bar after the initial service and it was hard to flag down another server-- they seem good at not meeting your eye.

Love the patio options here! Perfect summer spot for food & drinks! I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap. The homemade chips are amazing!! We also ordered the flatbread. Small but decent! The service was wonderful. Kind and attentive waitress.

The Dow is not what you would think for a "pub". It is way nicer/ they recently redid the back area and it's perfect for a Sunday game day. There are lots of TVs and beer options. The back area has high top tables as well as a couch area to lounge and enjoy bar food. The pretzel and dip were very yummy! The truffle fries were VERY fried but decent. I got the sliders plain and they were perfect. We would definitely return.

I was somewhat disappointed after my visit here. The Dow Stock Exchange concept does not jive with the ambiance. Dick O' Dows has an upscale feel with a variety of seating options. I was anticipating a high energy establishment but it's very mellow and there are TVs placed around the establishment that reflect the price change in beers which change every 5 minutes. There is a huge selection of beer which ranges from $5-$9. Service was good. The bartender was present and appeared to be social with customers throughout our visit. Our waitress and a waiter were engaged on their cell phones throughout the duration of our visit. They made sure their customers had drinks and were taken care of, but I felt their service station should be away from customers.

A beer stock market concept (expansion of Dick O' Dows)! The beer exchange concept means prices of the 40 craft beers it will have on tap will fluctuate every 15 minutes based on demand - the more customers drink of a certain beer, the more prices increase, as that's how the law of supply and demand works. Very fun ambiance to be in.. tons of people just talking and catching up with old friends/family. The alley leading to the Dow beer exchanges reminds me of being on set of Harry Potter. They also have a ton of food options to go with your craft beer! I would come back again :)

Great food. Two entrances. Lots of space. Huge beer selections. Amazing burgers. The best fries. Delicious flat bread. Awesome menu and perfect service. Definitely will come back and tell my friends and family about this place.

    Need I say any more.

Our server Scott was a sweetheart and the food came out pretty quickly. He even made me a mocktail that wasn't on the menu with grapefruit juice, cranberry juice and soda. My favorite item was the filet tips- the quality of meat was so good and it was seasoned well. It came with some goat cheese, peppers and arugula. I will say that it was a rather small portion of food though- maybe 6-8 bites of meat. The lamb lollipops were good with the balsamic drizzle but I preferred the filet tips since they were leaner. We also got the beet salad, the vinaigrette was good but otherwise the salad was just ok. Edamame was standard. Veggie/hummus tray was fresh. Lettuce wraps were good but had a bit of a kick. You can park free for 2 hours in the lot accross the street.

Service was a little slow on getting those first drinks... My issue was two things. At least a few times, I heard people who work there saying how great everything is. How great the HH is. This was to the point where it made it feel artificial. Kind of like some of the reviews here. The prices here are not great. Clearly they are hoping you order something when it's not HH, as the regular food / prices are about as high as I've seen for what they offer. Not sure we'll be back.

It's always a busy time for establishments, especially when it comes to holidays, but we repeatedly kept getting seated and "unseated" (the hostess would seat us, but then take us back to common area as the tables were either dirty or not ready). I didn't personally care about this, but I definitely noticed my party getting a bit frustrated by the experience as it happened about 4 times before we officially got seated, which also exceeded our initial reservation time. The service itself was okay. I wish they would've come around a bit more as we were out of water while eating our meal, but I know it was super busy that day!! I ended up getting the soft shell crab sandwich and it was pretty good! I think it would be even tastier with more sauce on the bun, but overall a nice pick. I also tried the lobster bisque; it had a nice texture with the little lobster bits, but found it overly salty. Hush puppies were a nice, crispy texture and I loved the sweet butter with it! One thing I absolutely loved about this experience was the mother's day flower pop-up stand! The cutest way to walk in and support another local business.

But Zana is easily one of the better fine dining experiences I've had in the state of Michigan. It also helped that I had dinner with some close friends who I haven't had many opportunities to spend time with in recent memory. The restaurant is located in downtown Birmingham, so by default it has to deliver on every front. It has such a beautiful and spacious dining area that makes you feel like you're at a VIP party. The menu is not lacking in options, with pretty much all the types of items you would expect from an upscale establishment. The oysters were so fresh, the harissa shrimp was outstanding, and my lamb chops were cooked to absolute perfection. We shared a lot of items, so we got a good idea of what this place offered and I don't think anyone in our party were disappointed. We ended up splitting the bill evenly between all of us and were surprised that we didn't spend more money. Zana really left a good lasting impression on us, so I hope that we will be just as satisfied when we make a return.
