We had an incredible experience at Rocco's Tavern in Westwood before the DUKE vs. UCLA women's soccer match. We had a group of 50+ family members and friends come together to pregame before heading over to the game, and Rocco's was the perfect place for it. The food was fantastic, the service was exceptional, and the atmosphere couldn't have been better for a big, energetic group. Everything came together seamlessly, and the staff did an amazing job taking care of all of us. This day was especially meaningful for our family because my niece plays soccer for DUKE. Most of us had never had the opportunity to see her play at the college level, so having everyone together in Westwood to support her was a really special experience. Rocco's helped make an already memorable day even more special. Great food, great people, great atmosphere, and a place I would absolutely recommend for anyone looking for a fun spot to gather before a game. Rocco's Tavern is a nice, spacious spot in the heart of the UCLA area, making it a convenient place to hang out before or after other plans. We stopped by around 5 PM on a Friday to kill some time before a show at a nearby theater. The daytime crowd was relaxed, mostly people in their 30s and up, and the bartenders were friendly. Unfortunately, the mixed drinks were below average and tasted watered down. We didn't try the food, so I can't comment on that. After our movie, we came back around 11 PM and it felt like a completely different place. It was packed with energy and mostly filled with the younger university crowd. Fun tavern in Culver City - exactly what you expect and want in a tavern. Servers are friendly and quick to bring beer. Generous happy hour, and has a late night happy hour too! Was nice that it wasn't packed, but still busy (was going to go across the street to a different place, but it was packed). So appreciated the relative quiet of Rocco's (and probably should have been our go to anyway to be a little more chill). Feels much more like a local hang out. Rocco's is a dive bar that turns into a college "club" in the evening. The service is slow, it can sometimes get loud and crowded, and the food is pretty meh. If you go into it knowing and expecting that, you won't be disappointed. I like to stop in for their buffalo wings, fries, and a beer from time to time. I will say that it's a bit frustrating that they do not offer a small order of fries or a combo of any kind, you have to buy a whole large order of fries. Their wings also sometimes have a charred or gas flavor which is odd. All that aside though, there aren't many decent and reasonably priced wing spots in Westwood, so I drop in and get my extra crispy extra saucy wings to scratch the itch. read more

Swung in here for a quick drink and my friend wanted to watch the Golden State Warriors whoop up on the Chicago Bulls before our movie date. We asked the bartender if he'd put the game on...he did right away. I ordered a vodka soda w/ lime. And paid $9. Came here after an exam this summer and it felt so good to be back! There was a line but it was worth the wait. Everyone was so excited regardless if they were leaving or coming in. It was a fun-filled night at this sports bar with a game on and just the right music to welcome us all back after a long hiatus. Throughout one evening that consisted of a beverage or two and several moments of watching the baseball game on one of the many TVs they had, I felt a sense of normalcy amidst everything we were going through in our world. Visits to this amazing haven are always fun especially after matches and games. The last visit during happy hour incorporated the 10 piece garlic parmesan chicken wings with ranch on the side. The service was great and they provided enough ranch for the entire meal! This was most likely the best meal I had this month and it was nice that there were still safety measures put in place with multiple games going on at once on the various televisions. An easy 5 stars primarily for my easygoing experience. Came here midday on a Sunday and it was pretty much dead which worked out for my date & I do we can chat up a storm. Our server Josh was attentive and kind. He's also a smart cookie because he wasn't one of those servers who interrupts you because they're hellbent on making rounds. This is a great sports bar in the heart of Westwood. Lots of TVs for viewing sports. Sometimes the volume is a bit too high though, especially when they are slow. They have a pretty good selection of beer and a cider or two, reasonably priced by LA standards especially during their happy hour. Their food menu is varied and full of pub grub options. My friend and I came here to eat dinner at 9pm on a Friday night. The door guy was very nice and provided us with stools to eat at the bar. Much of the restaurant was being cleared out to make room for the bar/club scene that I guess happens at night here... I'm used to the Rocco's Tavern in Studio City that serves food much later and does not get rid of its tables to turn into a bar/club. It is a college town, though, so that makes sense :) We were fine eating at the bar as we didn't plan to stay long anyway, but what made it very weird is the Manager. Or at least I believe he was the manager as he was wearing a patterned button-down shirt, unlike the black T-shirts everyone else was wearing. The bartender was very nice and she placed our order. Shortly after the manager came by and asked if we had put our food order in yet, which we had... you could tell he wanted us to order ASAP. As we waited for our food we chatted and watched sports on TV. My friend's nachos came out pretty quickly and they were tasty. The only gripe she had was that there were almost no full size chips in the nachos, but mostly pieces of broken chips. My burger took quite awhile to come out, so I picked at my friend's nachos because I was very hungry. Eventually it came out and I loved that it had a pretzel bun... my favorite! It also came with a ton of french fries :) What made our dinner feel weird, though, was that the manager would constantly stare at us as if he was waiting for us to scarf down our food so he could get it out of there. It was continual, and it was very uncomfortable sitting their eating with him continually walking around and then staring at us as we ate. Eventually we were done eating and he promptly took our food plates away. It was just so weird and obvious! We sat for a little while longer as we finished our drinks and then left. Bridget the bartender is one of the kindest, sweetest people in this city! And that's where my compliments to Rocco's end. The owner, Ali, is unbelievably rude, combative, and misogynistic. While working as a third party contractor for the bar, where I am not employed by Ali, I was treated lower than low. He barked orders at me, deliberately called me by the wrong name after multiple corrections, refused to greet me or directly answer my questions, and ultimately demanded that I "SMILE FOR HIM" in exchange for the tools I needed to do my job. I have never been spoken to so rudely by anybody, much less a business owner while they were on the job. He swore at me, raised his voice, and when I refused to smile for him like a dancing monkey, he got me fired from my contracting job at Rocco's. Good riddance. Do not patronize an establishment run by a sexist who expects women to do a song-and-dance for him -- if he would treat a contractor on the job this way, he'll treat his customers this way too. read more

It's hard to gauge a restaurant in Westwood Village on a game night but that's all I have to go by. With the Bruins playing at Pauley and a sellout crowd expected, I wanted to park in Westwood, eat and drink, walk to Pauley and back, and find my car in one piece. Mission accomplished. I parked in a lot for $8 and had a decent meal with my wife and friends. I'm not sure what was in this spot in years past but Rocco's was a cool place for pizza, beer and a salad. Service was efficient even the place was super crowded. It was also very loud....needlessly so... since they had a Lakers game blaring on TV in addition to all of the pregame drinkers screaming to be heard. They offer a decent Italian menu and a few other burgers, sandwiches and such. My 10" pizza hit the spot but the house salad was excellent.
