(4.25 stars) Really great neighborhood bar. The drinks are always on point and the food is surprisingly delicious. My wife and I can't stop ordering the burger and the pork nachos. They are both standouts! The staff here is super friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth checking out! read more

Blown away. What an unexpectedly delicious dog. I've been to Thunderbird more than a handful of times, but never ventured beyond the bean and cheese tacos (delicious btw). But their frankfurter dog is possibly one of the best I've had all year. It's a simple dog: sauerkraut and mustard and green onions. The wiener to bun ratio is spot on and had the perfect snap. Delicious. Service was friendly and helpful. Some of our favorites: the vegetarian burger, tequila sodas, chickpeas, and tacos (of course). The one thing we would not recommend: the tenders. They were very dry, unfortunately. read more

Found this spot on yelp and glad we came in. Lots of seating and service at the bar was quick and friendly. Good music and not too loud that we were able to converse comfortably. The drinks were delicious, I can't remember the name but it was some sort of pineapple lime cocktail that I opted to have with tequila. Would definitely go back! read more

My favorite neighborhood bar! Great food, good drinks, and two skee ball machines for the win. There's also a Photo Booth. Taco Tuesday is solid and happy hour 4-7 is decent. Staff is super friendly and accommodating. I've been here too many times to count and I'm not even a big drinker or bar person. It's fun how they have games to play and nice TVs. Also the bathrooms are usually clean, which is a huge plus for a bar like this. I am happy to give Thunderbird two thumbs up. read more

Great casual spot to grab a drink, catch the game, or hang out with your gang. The crowd's a mix of sports fans, folks unwinding after work, and locals from the neighborhood. The bartenders actually know what they're doing, happy hour is fantastic, and the loaded nachos are basically a meal on their own. read more

Love this placed because of the mature crowd and music - a millennial house party, just good vibes. We ordered drinks and food at the bar I had a margarita and it was perfect. Bartender was friendly and sweet. There's an outdoor patio- small area but the inside is pretty big. Many booths available for larger parties. I would return because of the great music, vibes and margaritas. They accept all forms of payment including cash. read more

Considering we showed up on a random Friday night wanting dinner, this was surprisingly a great choice. Not sure about day time, but in the evening you have to show ID at the door. The tacos are phenomenal here! And they were each a very good size. We ordered at the bar and then they brought the food to our table. There's TVs all over the place, so this is definitely a great spot for watching any sport. They have trivia on Wednesdays nights at 8pm. read more

I stumbled upon this place on a Saturday night. I ordered a soda water because I am taking a break from drinking. I was properly ripped for it but I was served by far the best soda water of all time. The bartender put serious dedication garnishments and everything went into it. I can't wait to come back here when my break is over and order a proper drink. read more

Dropped into Thunderbird while we were in town to check it out. Parking is a bit tricky and might require a few spins around the block or an uber for that matter. The bar was spacious with plenty of seating, although the tables were a bit sticky. We got there during happy hour (which is between 4-6PM) so we had some options for discounted eats, and ended up going for some guac and chips, wine and some various tacos. The guacamole was nice and fresh and the short rib tacos were the table fan favorite. The chicken taco was unfortunately a bit dry. The service was quick and attentive, overall a great choice for happy hour. read more

Came here on a Sunday night with a group of six and stumbled into bingo night which was such a fun surprise! The vibe was lively and upbeat, perfect for ending the weekend. We ordered a round of drinks, piña coladas, margaritas, and a Moscow mule. The piña colada was the group favorite- super frothy, thick, and tropical. I had the margarita, which was also really solid and well-balanced. Bingo ended up being the highlight for me. They played a great mix of pop culture throwbacks and current top hits, which kept the energy high. The prizes got bingo were really great as well. Overall, a great atmosphere, good drinks, and unexpectedly fun entertainment. Definitely a spot I'd come back to. read more

They have a good variety and well prices happy hour which was what lured us in. Large bar and plenty of tables and booths as well Metered parking out front. Unfortunately they were understaffed and the poor bartender had to tend to all the tables as well but still got our drinks to us instantly and food shortly thereafter. We tried most of their tacos and I was hoping the puffy tacos to be better, more puffy, not really worth the up charge. Everything was pretty salty and the cocktails horrible, the beer flat and not cold. Chips were stale, great prices and sounding menu, just the execution could have been better. read more

Thunderbird: The Vibe is Immaculate, the Staff is Iconic, and the Good Times Are Guaranteed! If you're looking for a quiet little tea room with soft piano music and a dress code--keep scrolling. But if you want a sports bar that's bursting with energy, fun, and personality, Thunderbird is the spot. We've been coming here for years for everything from football Sundays to birthday blowouts, and not once have we left without a smile on our face (and usually a new friend or two). The staff? Absolute legends. They're welcoming, vibrant, and yes--beautiful humans who bring the FUN, not some robotic "hospitality professional" vibe. And isn't that why we go to a sports bar in the first place? As for the complaints about tank tops and hair? Babes, it's Los Angeles, not Downton Abbey. Let the team live--and serve--authentically. There's nothing more refreshing than a place where people can be themselves, and that's what makes Thunderbird special. It's unapologetically real, unpretentious, and full of local love. The drinks are cold, the music is always on point, and the crowd is full of regulars who know how to have a good time, and you've got the perfect neighborhood hangout. To the reviewer clutching their pearls: (Rickie D.) maybe next time, skip the bar and try a spa. For the rest of us? We'll be at Thunderbird--cheersing, laughing, and loving every minute of it. Shoutout to all the bartenders behind the bar (especially Evan, Tejah + George) for always making our crew feel like VIPs--even when the place is packed! read more

Easy mellow Place. Always busy. Popular. A place to meet a friend or friends for beer.

I had high expectations since they advertise themselves as Tex-Mex, and I'd been missing that deeply. I was really looking forward to the Shiner on tap, but it was flat and barely cold. Tacos were good, but very expensive. Chickpeas were good, and something I'd get again to snack on with the table. Service was okay; food did not come out together. I was hoping they'd be able to put on the Dallas Stars game, but I guess it wasn't available (not a Texas bar?). Ambiance is dark and loud. read more

I love this place! I found myself in the neighborhood at lunchtime. And it had good reviews so I thought I'd check it out. Basically a great bar that serves great food. Can't beat the lunch specials. A killer Cubano sandwich for $8. Beers for $4. And really great fries for $4. Fantastic service while being super chill. There were regulars at the bar (a great sign) and strangers at the bar ended up having great conversations. Everything you want from a great neighborhood bar. My go-to bar before I started working from home (office was across the street). Still make the drive there sometimes. Mediocre food, barely existent service. Would not return. We went on a light Sunday night during football season, which tells you a lot when a sports bar is empty, and the servers still find it beneath them to greet you. The bartender was very nice though. read more

I've been here twice now. The first time, it was July and packed for a Christmas in July event. The drinks were fairly good, and the crowd was high energy (on the younger side, early 20s or so, not terribly diverse though). There were a lot of people dancing and having a good time. The second time, it was March, and the vibe was more of that of a sports bar even at 10 pm to midnight. Nobody was dancing, but it was still a social environment. I got the corpse reviver #2 for $15, which was okay but had a bite to it. Same thing with the $15 espressotini. I preferred the Sex in Santa Monica, but they did not have it the second time I went! read more

Disaster for Dodger Fans! I showed up at Thunderbird an hour early to grab a good spot for Game 2 of the Dodgers World Series. You'd think a big LA bar would be ready for it, right? Wrong. Almost every TV in the place was showing the Oregon Ducks. Baseball? Just one screen. Five minutes before first pitch, the Ducks were still on everywhere. We politely asked if they could switch more TVs to the Dodgers game, you know, the World Series....and were told...this is an Oregon bar. Excuse me? We're in Los Angeles! There were Dodgers fans all over the place looking just as annoyed and confused. We couldn't even hear the Dodgers game the audio stayed on the Ducks. After waiting around and wasting money on two drinks, we finally just left. What a joke. If you're a Dodgers fan (or just expect a sports bar to actually show major games), skip Thunderbird. Apparently being in LA doesn't mean much here. read more

We went with a group of girlfriends to watch the dodger game on a Sunday. This bar is so nice looking! The bartender was super friendly and very fast at getting food and drinks out to us. Everything here is OFF THE HOOK, with beautiful fundamentals, lovely and warm staff, great drinks and happy hour, loads of SPORTS PASSION... and UCLA FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT... I adore this place and everything it stands for. Perhaps a special call out to Alex who has anchored this evening beautifully and worn and Anaheim ducks lid like few others could ever do. Always a great time at Thunderbird. They have a great happy hour from 4-6! The nachos, tacos and chicken tenders are all great. They cram this place full of people until it is way past the maximum occupancy. It is both unsafe and a miserable guest experience. The bouncer does not count the number of guests entering. If there were to be an emergency, the people in the back of the bar would definitely be trapped. Would not recommend going if you enjoy your personal space and generally want a safe bar. read more

We came here to watch football on Sunday. It was packed, but they did a great job taking care of everyone. The bartenders are awesome. You order at the register, and they give you a number. We got the burrito, and it was actually really good. I would say the food here is higher end than standard sports bar food. They really do a great job. There are plenty of TVs and it's very lively inside. I am surprised we haven't been here before, but we will be back. read more

Anisha was fantastic!!! Speedy and friendly and funny - asked her lots of dumb questions

This was such an interesting night. We came in to join some friends, and two of them were a couple of girls who were asked to leave because they were "kissing too much" in an otherwise empty bar (wasn't it for our group of friends spending money and celebrating a birthday). I was very confused at first when the security started shining the light on them, but when asked what was going on, the guy said they were "making out too much and making people uncomfortable" which was kinda shocking considering that the only people there belonged to the same group of friends (which none of them were bothered by them kissing). She went to talk to the bartender girl (Tejah???) who said she was the manager, and was told that they were kissing too much and somehow breaking rules??? (Of too much PDA??) Never heard that one before! But she agreed to leave although confused about this made-up rule. They left the bar and we stayed confused wondering wtf is going on. Then another friend questioned the decision and was kicked out as well. This is not the celebration we were looking for. Very weird and homophobic, right in West LA! Damn!!! They should've taken their money and love somewhere else. Bye Thunderbird! You suck, and I really wish we went somewhere else. This is 2025! Do better!! read more

Bouncer tried to hit on me and when I didn't return the favor he kicked me and my friends out. He had a group of friends next to him that also got into our faces and created a scene. Was one of my favorite bars in the area but most definitely will not be going back there anymore. read more
