Had a great experience at Double Take! Very modern and chic atmosphere. It's the bar in the Hotel Palomar, and you can tell it was recently renovated. I received stellar service from our waitress, Rosa. Cocktails were well-balanced and delicious. We also enjoyed the appetizers. I highly recommend the fish tacos. Food and drinks were affordable. Cocktails are $10 during happy hour, and around $14-16 regular price. This might be my new favorite spot to grab a drink after work!

Honestly, as far as hotel restaurants go, this place was very good. Strong menu with a variety of options for lunch and dinner. Staff was polite. This space mixed in well with the rest of the first floor of the hotel. We ordered a steak sandwich and a chicken Caesar salad. Flavor of the chicken Caesar was good. It could've used more dressing and it would have been nice for the chicken to be cut up and tossed in with the salad. Also would probably be better in a bowl than on a flat plate. The steak sandwich was actually amazing. Very well executed. Steak was done to my liking. Huge cut of meat for a sandwich (it was like a full strip steak). Sauce and veggies were good. Bread could have been thinner. Fries on the side were excellent

The Double Take at the Kimpton Palomar Hotel in Westwood has great food! I stayed here for 12 days and tried almost everything on the menu - the breakfast sandwich, the roasted chicken, steak, salmon tacos, poke, shrimp and lobster pasta, lobster salad, salmon, chicken sandwich, the burger, Caesar salad - all prepared beautifully and delicious! The service staff was so kind and prompt. I highly recommend Double Take!

Beyond incredible! Quality happens at double take by the Kimpton! Had the pleasure of getting helped by the wonderful Rosa, she is the representation of what excellence is!! She made sure my order was spectacular. This makes me look forward to coming back here. The seating options were great. Located inside the kimpton hotel, gorgeous lighting, beautiful bar area, very impressed by their seating and they have fund areas!!!! Like games and a tv, making your experience super enjoyable. I am very impressed by how amazing Rosa is, she makes this place warm and very easy to enjoy. She definitely stood out more than the front desk representatives!!! I am a proud client at the kimpton and Rosa is a perfect example of why i love being a client at the kimpton. Looking forward to coming here again!

Omg! This place is finally opened! We tried coming here twice during the pandemic. 1st thing we asked for is the Smoked Whisky or Old Fashioned. They are not serving it in the summer. Please bring it back in Fall or serve all year long. Robert, the bartender is awesome! He recommended the Desperado and let us try the house made syrup. It's the best cocktail I had in a while. Now I am all looking for Mexican candies! Def coming back!

    Egg Sandwich on Biscuit

Double Take is a restaurant in the Kimpton Palomar hotel. We're fans of the Kimpton brand having stayed at a number of their hotels all over the U.S. They're a great boutique hotel chain with benefits you get used to, such as the complimentary wine hour at 5pm. We were here for brunch, far too early to take advantage of the free wine hour, but to be fair we didn't realize when we picked the restaurant that it was located in a Kimpton...so walking in to the lobby was a pleasant and familiar surprise. I had the egg sandwich choosing biscuit for the bread, with white cheddar cheese and no the sausage. It came with hash browns and a salad. The biscuit was perfectly crunchy on the outside and fine on the inside but seemed like it may have been reheated. (Am I the only one who has a sixth sense for when biscuits have been reheated?) It tasted good but the cheese needed more of a presence. The hash browns looked great. You'll definitely salivate looking at them...They were tasty on the inside though, perhaps, a little more greasy than I wanted. There also wasn't salt and pepper at the table which I definitely needed for these.. My wife had the Grain Bowl which we had to send back as it came topped with parmesan cheese...my wife doesn't eat dairy and the menu didn't list parmesan as an ingredient. I'm a big fan of menus that list all the visible ingredients of a dish...so unfortunately we had to send it back to get them to redo it without it. The dish looked beautiful either way, the mushrooms were delicious, but in the end it was very barley heavy...the other ingredients needed more of a presence to add more flavor to this dish. It definitely wasn't busy when we were there so i guess brunch, at least on a Saturday around noon isn't so much of a thing...but they did only have one person working there handling the coffee counter and waiting tables so service, in particular when we had to alert them about the Grain Bowl was a bit slow. On the plus side there's all kinds of fun games to play in adjacent rooms, including a full sized pool table and skeeball, that are all free to use, so you're bound to have a good time when you're there.

If you are looking for a higher class dining experience in the Westwood Area, I would suggest adding this to your list. Double Take is located inside the Kimpton Palomar hotel, a perfectly situated hotel on Wilshire Blvd only .5 miles from Westwood Village and less than 2 miles out from Beverly Hills! A group of friends and I dined here on New Year's Eve before heading out to Hollywood and really enjoyed the experience. Upon entering, we were greeted right away and brought our refreshments almost instantly, which is very important to me when I dine out. We ordered the Filet Mignon Carpaccio to start because it was a highly recommended appetizer. The dish was beautiful and I am bummed I didn't snap a picture to share before the boys dug in! Thinly sliced meat was accompanied by fresh arugula and topped with a small amount of cheese and lemon. These 5 small slices of meat and the small amount of arugula was a whooping $18, so I was on the fence about ordering it. To my surprise, the app was delicious and bursting with flavor, but in my opinion not worth the price. For entrees, 2 people got the Mary's Fried Chicken Sandwich, the third got the Original Burger, and I went with the Lemon Pepper Turkey Burger. Before we knew it, all of our meals came out quickly and we dug in! I personally thought that my burger was on the dry side, but it most likely was because I opted out of the Dijon Aioli that they normally put on it as I am picky with my condiments. The rest of the guys really enjoyed their sandwiches/burgers, wiping their plates clean in minutes! I enjoyed the fries that came with all our meals because they were thin and simple, just how I like them! They were a little bland, so I think they could definitely benefit from throwing a little salt or cajun seasoning on those shoestrings. A cool perk about this restaurant is the fact that they have skee-ball, a pool table, darts, and shuffleboard inside the restaurant that anyone can play! Parking can sometimes be tough in this area and driving on Wilshire is fast-paced so if you have no luck finding a spot I recommend using the hotel valet which can be validated when dining at the restaurant for $10.. not super cheap but parking in LA, especially on Wilshire, can be so challenging that $10 might seem worth it. Overall, I enjoyed this dining experience and was glad my friends and I chose to come here for a special NYE meal but wasn't the most flavorful food in my opinion

There is jazzy latin tinged music playing and it's just beautiful. So that's a winner. This place was inspired by Alice Waters, who was a main force in the California Cuisine farm to table movement. The menu tonight is themed with a movie playing at the Hammer. So it's not the normal fare. But from what I understand, they do a different prix fix menu every night, in addition to their normal offerings. This meal was wonderful. The first course was a poblano chile filled with a walnut based stuffing. It was delicate and brilliant. It was also a dish from the movie that was served at a wedding and everyone fell in love. The main was a medley of different seafoods (scallops, shrimp, clams, and tilefish) with vegetables (hominy, garlic, avocado, onion, and chile) and a lovely broth that was deconstructed and wonderful. The dessert was just enough too. It seemed to be inspired by the wedding cake from an early scene in the movie. Really great. The service is perfect. The waitperson was friendly and helpful. The food was served well timed and the plates cleared efficiently, never rushed. It was a great meal. I loved this place and I'd come again. This series is movies about food. They were pretty busy, but everything was quick -- my matcha and breakfast burrito came out within minutes of ordering. Prices were pretty high imo ($9 for a matcha with cream top, $15 breakfast burrito), but it is LA. The burrito was good, but honestly pretty small and not very stuffed, and the matcha was good as well, definitely very strong and high caffeine. There was plenty of seating, even though it was packed, and it seemed like a cute place to get some work done/study. Only thing is it can be a bit noisy, and you'll likely have strangers sharing your table, so not recommended if you have to take meetings. I deducted 1 star cause I felt like the customer service was lacking a little. The girl who took my order was a little short and barely responded. When I was having trouble logging on to the WiFi (it kept kicking me off on my laptop -- I ended up not even being able to use it, which defeated the purpose of me finding a cafe to work in, and had to use my hotspot), she didn't help in any way and just told me to try a new code but even after it still didn't work and I went back, she lowkey ignored me and was keeping busy in the back to avoid me it felt like. The inside was full so we sat outside, luckily the sun wasn't really bright and full, otherwise it would've been too hot to be outside. We got a table for 6 because there were 5 of us. We ordered water but also an orange juice, they had house made sodas but we thought hydrating with water on a hot day is better. We got an appetizer to share, white bean dip, with oregano flatbread. It was delicious, it reminded me of a thick bean soup and it had beets, orange slices, and walnuts. I ordered the chicken piccata, the others ordered lamb pita and a burger. If you want to replace a different protein for a dish like salad or pasta, there's a fee which they said follows the add options not replacement options. The chicken piccata came with risotto, I usually don't order risotto on its own so happy to have it as a side, it was a bit hard and a few bites were chalky, but the rest were good. Loved the broccolini with capers, and left the lemon alone. Chicken was tender but also very small, but still deliciously flavored. Very attentive staff, wonderful ambiance with a nice breeze and nature surrounding our table. I think it's a very relaxing break from the other places we could've chosen in Westwood. The place is also does not charge for gratuity which is surprising with the great service included. May try to come back to treat a great coworker or come as a team!

Good place to come eat a nice meal if you're staying at the Luskin center or before or after…read morewhatever activity you have planned at UCLA. Really nice interior and it was really nice and comfortable eating inside, but it also looked like it would be nice to dine outside if the weather is nice out. Menu is pretty simple, but they do have a variety of items from salads to soups to sandwiches and burgers and pizzas. Think the most expensive item I saw on the menu was a $44 steak, so prices are somewhat reasonable. I got a Tuscan chicken sandwich with fries. The food wasn't spectacular, but it was pretty good and actually filled me up. Service was nice and friendly. If you read the bottom of the menu, it says tipping is actually not expected and accepted. Kind of weird, but I'm not complaining.
