    Cadillac Margarita. Deceivingly strong. Nice!
    Mina L.

Loved that Plateia is located so close to Polly Pavilion (between the Pavilion and Parking structure 8. Very nice setting for dinner before a game. As we checked in we no reservations, we were asked if we were going to attend the game? Nice that they were going to ensure we get out in time. Even though we arrived with only an hour before game time. Excellent service got our drink and meal order in and served timely. My Cadillac margarita was very nice and deceivingly delicious and strong. I got the chicken fillet with mashed potatoes and hubby ordered the game day burger. Both were delicious. We definitely will be back for pregame dinner at Plateia.

Hands down this is the best place to dine at while at UCLA. Service here is excellent! Came here for a late lunch while waiting for my baby Bruin to get out of class to come home for the weekend. Located conveniently by parking lot 11 and near the Bruin store and the Alumni Center. I originally assumed it was a members only kind of dining establishment, but I asked the staff and they said it was open to the public. If you want a nice sit down restaurant rather than the UCLA fast food options, this place will not disappoint. I sat outside in the beautiful patio surrounded by olive trees where I enjoyed reading a great book while waiting for my food. The staff is amazing and attentive. I had a burger and fries, which was great! For dessert I had the basque cheesecake, which was light, delicious, and refreshing. Overall, this is my new favorite place to eat while at UCLA. Definitely will be back!

Came for pre-graduation meal back in June. It was an awkward time - 3:30pm. We had the lounge menu. Decent selection of meals (salad, hamburgers, pizzas) and good selection of drinks and cocktails. The spring salad was light and tasty. I don't remember the name of my drink, but it was good. Attentive service. If you can, sit on the patio when the weather is nice. We sat indoors, and it was quiet and good for conversation. Made the reservation in advance, but there were open indoor tables when we arrived. Located on the campus of UCLA, across from Ackerman Union.

Came here for a group event. We had a group of 12, and it took us 50 minutes to be seated, order, and get our food. I ordered the shrimp pasta, which was decent but nothing too special for the price. I tried someone's gyro and liked that much more, and it was cheaper! This is a reasonable place to go for group events on UCLA's campus, but if you can go off campus, there are better restaurants in the area!

You never know what you are going to get with a hotel restaurant but Plateia is a great option. It is pretty spacious and offers outdoor, bar and traditional seating. I have been twice now - once for lunch and once for breakfast. For lunch I ordered "The" Burger. It was delicious and they were able to honor my request of a gluten free bun which was awesome. The only change I would have made would have been to add egg and bacon onto the burger. The side with the burger were their parmesan fries. These were so good I wish there were more! For breakfast, I ordered the eggs your way. Once again, they were able to accommodate with gluten free toast. The prices are a little high but worth it because you can tell they use fresh, high quality ingredients. Overall, I was a big fan of this restaurant!

Our food was excellent. The restaurant has a Mediterranean slant and we started with the hummus and roasted calamari appetizer, very healthy and a good sized portion with homemade spiced pita bread. I had the steelhead fish with pea purée and generous roasted farm fresh vegetables. And the basque cheesecake for dessert - gluten free and not too sweet with berry garnish. Hubby had the olive oil cake garnished with blackberry sauce and blood oranges. Would come here again.

Stopped by on Friday, 10/11/24 with my boss during lunch time (my boss's treat for my last day at work). We ordered the following: - 1 Ezzo Pepperoni and Mushroom = $25 - 1 Market Vegetable Risotto = $23 - 1 Molten Chocolate Cake = $14 - 1 Basque Burnt Cheesecake = $13 The mushroom pizza was delicious! The bread is a bit flat, which I didn't mind at all. Definitely on oiler side though. I had leftovers. Overall this place has a great atmosphere and overall ambiance.

Chef was so kind and took care of us when we visited for a conference. Two things I don't care for are salads and cheesecake. The saeta on the salad was so fresh we kept it at the table throughout the meal to keep going back to. The cheesecake was the best dessert I have ever had. Last honorable mention is the pizza- omg get the pizza I don't know how they made it melt in your mouth yet crunchy! Great stop it doesn't even feel like you're on campus or at a conference center.

House focaccia bread is absolutely divine. Ask your server!

For a hotel restaurant and campus spot it's actually very good. The service is first rate; which is much appreciated after a long day working a conference inside this hotel. For me food just has to be good enough given the convenience of this place but the kitchen excels. Their house bread is a fluffy and fresh focaccia which is crave worthy. The staff has been generous to provide it to me complimentary when I've asked on multiple occasions. Their pizzas are Neapolitan style with a crust that rivals some of the best wood oven craft pizza places in town. I recommend keeping it to the simple margarita pizza, as I found the other ones not so tasty although the crust was great across all of them. The burgers are solid and cooked to your requested temperature, and they'll do them for lunch or dinner even tho it's not on the dinner menu. The pastas here are also crave worthy with perfectly cooked pasta and just the right amount of everything. I had to do a lot of work meals recently and was surprised that looking back I was wishing the food at other places was like Plateia--high quality, piping hot, and well executed dishes. I've had their food and service many times for catered events in the Luskin center and large group dinners in the restaurant but they truly excel when you're just stopping in at their restaurant bar or dining room for a meal, never mind it's part of UCLA so you're prob here for the convenience factor. If this restaurant was standalone and off campus I would still be craving it and raving all about it. I hope they bring back their bacon wrapped dates one day bc those were legendary!

Had a work holiday dinner here. Started with drinks at the bar. The Pauley cocktail was refreshing, heavy on the ice and could've been stronger, like the other cocktails. Service was good and the ambiance is subtle but stylish. Our dinner was buffet style. Charcuterie platters (had to restock pita bread often), delighted in Manchego cheese. The margherita pizza was legit and the beef sliders were great and filling. Tasted Gouda cheese and smashed avocado. When the dinner ended, the staff said we could box extra food and there was a lot! During the white elephant exchange, management asked us to tone it down. Found out tips are not expected or accepted here. What a surprise in 2023 when more restaurants add a surcharge for their employees. The Luskin Center/Plateia has their own parking or you can go to lot 8 next door.

    Bolognese & Broccolini (the best!!)
    Fiona Y.

My first visit will certainly not be my last! The restaurant is inside the hotel lobby. Intimate with a bar, elevated booth tables, and a beautiful outdoor patio for an extended atmosphere. The patio has heat lamps and greenery for extra comfort. On a Tuesday early evening the spot was packed with customers getting drinks at the bar and dining at the restaurant. I had overheard the wait time for a table would be 40 minutes! I was lucky to have been a table for 1, and was quickly seated. In less than 15 minutes of ordering my food was served I was so impressed despite them having such a busy day. I ordered the bolognese and broccolini they were both soo good! The pappardelle was cooked just to al dente, tossed in a veggie meat sauce and sprinkled generously with shaved Parmesan. The sauce was light and sweet with tomato and carrot cooked down. It could've used more bits of meat, I hardly got much. My favorite was the broccolini. I regretted not ordering more it was divinee. Each piece had the most gratifying crunch, sautéed and roasted ends, chimichurri on top, and my favorite the sweetness of the broccolini wasn't masked by anything. That on its own proves the freshness of produce and expertise the chefs have preparing it.

Only negative for us was feeling some pressure to upgrade the sides to our dishes (options to upgrade the salad and rice); we upgraded the rice and didn't necessarily enjoy the upgraded rice with cranberries and think the base options may have been preferable. Honestly, I didn't even want to write this review, but after spending a couple of hours thinking…read moreabout it, I felt like I had to. To those writing all the good reviews, I genuinely have one question: have you actually had good Persian food before? Have you ever been to Raffi's? We drove all the way from Orange County because someone recommended this place. We usually just go to Raffi's, but I thought, "let's give this place a shot." Unfortunately, that was a mistake. First, I want to be clear: the staff were great, friendly and attentive. This review has nothing to do with them. It's strictly about the food. 3 Stew Tahdig ($17): The tahdig was extremely thick and hard. Even with the stew on top, it was basically inedible. Mast-o-Moosir (Shallot Yogurt): Served in a very small portion and was extremely watery. You could clearly taste raw shallots instead of a smooth blend. This dish should be made with thick yogurt (mast-e chekideh), not something runny. Main Courses: * Soltani ($39) * Naderi Soltani ($42) Honestly, we couldn't even tell the difference between the two, they seemed identical. We asked for well-done, but everything came medium or even undercooked. The barg kebab (filet mignon) was the worst part, it was tough, rubbery, and almost impossible to cut. It genuinely felt like chewing plastic. Not sure what kind of meat was used, but it definitely wasn't good quality. Salad Issue: The server asked which salad we wanted and mentioned Shirazi, Greek, etc. I chose Greek. When the bill came, we were charged an extra $2 for it, which was never mentioned. That should have been clearly communicated. Also, the bowl the salad was served in was chipped and broken in multiple spots--not a great presentation at all. Rice: The rice was poorly cooked and had barely any saffron (maybe 5% at most). Even another table nearby complained about the rice. Drink - Sekanjebin ($10): This is supposed to be a traditional Persian drink, but this tasted like a mix of cheap syrup. It did not resemble authentic sekanjebin at all. Appetizer - Marinated Olives (Zeytoon Parvardeh): The olives were unusually large and overpowering. This dish should be balanced, you're supposed to taste the walnut, pomegranate, and herbs, not just big olives. At this point, it made sense why the restaurant was almost empty on a Sunday lunchtime, maybe 4-5 tables total. To be completely honest, the food upset our stomachs to the point where we had to take Pepto-Bismol afterward. Overall, the food quality was very disappointing, and we will not be coming back. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic or well-made Persian food. Again, no issues with the staff, they were great. The problem is entirely with the food.
