I've been curious about Taqueria El Chacho for such long time because whenever I walked past I…read morealways see a long line of customers lining up, and the place always smells delicious from so far away. It's a Mexican chain from AZ (popular I think, they have like 53K followers on Instagram), and they just opened multiple locations in Bay Area, so this time I decide to finally give it a try. I ordered the Tripa Mulitas, Torta, and Horchata drink, Mulitas was $7, Torta $14, and Horchata was $7. They're all delicious, I was actually shocked at the first bite because I didn't know Mexican food could be this great (like I ate at a lot of Mexican place before, but this place is just chef's kiss). You seriously have to try their torta!! It has grilled meat, cheese, avocado, lettuce and tomato, all packed in there. Together with their green sauce, red sauce and some of the onion & jalapeno salad, I'm good for the whole day. The flavors are just so authentic and hit the spot perfectly. I totally get why there is always a line now. They officially converted me into a regular from today! If you see a crowd, just jump in line, it's worth the wait.

Cool photo ops and art on display, DJ playing lively music. Parking horrific in this plaza, the event space small and crowded AF, lack of variety of food options (some of the listed vendors and eateries not even on site), numerous food stands with items sold out and crossed off on the menus three hours before closing time on Saturday. I did pick up a sweet and delicious chocolate chip cookie from Browned Butter Babe before leaving, but overall I was not impressed with this event.

There was a dj playing music. I heard some Justin Bieber while standing in line for food. Food was so good and my favorite was thai tea in a bag. So worth it and great price. It was authentic and stronger than a Thai tea I had at another food market I went to. Menus were hard to see at night, but I was surprised and happy with the bun baos which was hot and juicy. $16 for 2. Highly suggest grabbing a Nha sunset drink. I saw lots of people walking around with an orange drink with their brand on it. It's so popular. They had 2 other drinks, but their shop said it was sold out. I have noticed that parking was difficult. I think in general my bf said that Grand Century Mall/aka Vietnam Town is busy. We parked more on the side of the night market instead of the entrance to the mall. Walk was short to the night market. Fun night with bf and my sister.

Honestly it's about a 4.5 - and only because they don't have any refried beans as a side. For me…read morethe side dishes really accentuate the food, but if you're looking for tacos, this is one of the best! The meat is juicy and tasty. The tortillas are homemade. And the portions are bigger than most places that serve street tacos. I wish I could review more than the tacos and maybe one day I will, but the tacos are SO good, it's hard not to order them over and over. FOOD: Tacos!!! Homemade tortillas!!! I'm a sucker for a good homemade tortilla and these are GOOD. But more than that the selection of meats are tasty. The chicken was the weakest of them, but even that was good. It's just the al pastor was GREAT and the carne asada oh so tasty. SERVICE: Terrific. Packaged well, service is friendly and helpful, portions are nicely sized, and you will definitely go home happy. They make everything to order so it does take a little bit of time, but still wonderfully good. COST: Very reasonable for what you get. Very reasonable.

I have only tried their quesabirria special and it keeps me coming back. You get these gooey cheesy tacos and all these toppings, plus consommé, which is super tasty, and a free drink for all of $10. The lady is so nice and the wait is not long. This truck is now one of my go to's spots. Even though they are right on the street the cars passing by its not even loud or dusty, people even stop on the street to pick up or you see people in their cars enjoying the consommé.

Attended the San Jose Mini Night Market on Saturday evening. Was lucky to find free street parking…read morea block away on Third Street (free after 6pm on Saturdays, and all day Sunday). Free admission, no line for entry, advance tickets unnecessary, no ticket check at all. This food festival is almost identical to 626 and Foodieland, but only one fifth the size. It had all the same elements, just "mini" versions... a mini stage with live music, a mini sized area with games and prizes, a minimal number of merchandise vendors, minimal seating options (mostly near the stage), and even less tables, so hopefuly you like eating on your lap or standing up, and even with about 20 food trucks/tents and drink stands, it felt like minimal food offerings as well. Good news is this meant the crowds, lines, and waits were mini too, or non-existent. I went around 6pm, and I think the longest line I saw was about 7-8 people, and for many there was no line at all. Here's the food lineup for this Saturday when I visited (though this could change on Sunday, or during future events in October): Flor de Pineapple PennyLane Sweets & Treats 3 Brothers Kitchen Chicken Bros Honey Cones ABVE The Basics Grenade beverages (more creative options than just giant baby bottles) Uncle Papa's BBQ Churro stand Heluo Kitchen Bun Me Up (bao buns) Supreme Musubi Katna's Kitchen (authentic filipino food) Spy Family (tea & lemonade) Pupuseria Nathalia California's Crepes Nana Bear's Mini Donuts Wise Jun-Kombucha Mezcla (Columbian eats) Potato Hut Kimoy (chamoy korean-mexican fusion candy) By 6:30pm, several trucks started to run out of popular items, but there were still plenty of options. I only tried the shrimp quesadilla from ABVE The Basics, and chocolate donuts from Nana Bear's Mini Donuts. Both items were delish! Slightly overpriced as you would expect at this type of event, but the quality, ingredients, and service were more than satisfactory. They even put the food in takeout containers as requested. Had fun being a fatty... and you can too! For 2023, the San Jose event takes place downtown this weekend and returns for two different weekends in October.

Admission was free and I rsvp'd for tickets online, got an email and done. You could also scan a QR code at the entrance for free admission. It was not too full, so there were almost no lines for the food vendors. We were able to try a few different ones and also found a place to sit and eat. We did enjoy the selection of food vendors, just wished that the market overall had been a little bigger. Had a good time and would definitely go again next time.
