I spoke with Stephanie for a good half-hour at the office about her business and my business as well as getting my sink repaired. My wife woke up this morning with a leaky sink. We were referred to Robins plumbing from a water restoration company. Ryan drove all the way from Phoenix to Gilbert to work on our leaking sink. With a turn here and a turn there , our sink works perfectly. Ryan did install a new valve as well. I will be calling them in the future for my plumbing needs. TL;DR Pretty sure techs work on commission--avoid! Woke to a minor garage flood the day before yesterday. I called American first who couldn't make it out until the next day, but Robin's was able to schedule me for same day service. The tech called when he was on his way, which I appreciated. So far, five stars. The tech arrived and immediately began to drain and disconnect the water heater. I asked him to wait because we hadn't worked out a price, nor did I know what he wanted to replace the current heater with. After some nudging he gave me a brand and model number and quoted me $1800, which felt too high, but I reserved judgement. He also mentioned he wanted to replace my recirculating pump, but I refused since it was installed just three years ago. As I was leaving to back inside he said he was sending out mitigation to look into rebuilding the the pedestal the heater was on since it had gotten wet. So now my upsell/scam radar is pinging. I left him to continue draining the heater and went back inside to look up RUUD model #PROG50-38N-RU60, which I found online listed for $639. I headed back out into the garage to ask him why the installation was so expensive, and could he please give me a breakdown of the charges. He stammered a little bit, started to look defensive and refused, insisting it was a lump sum. I said I realized they had to add a markup and labor and I wanted to pay a fair price, but $1200 over the price of the heater seemed excessive. He said, "I don't know what to tell you, this is just the charge." So I said, ok then I'm not comfortable with that so charge me to finish draining the heater and cut it off." He said, "that'll be $350 (!)" LOL I called the office for clarification and the guy on the phone was seriously pissy. I let him rant on about how much work is entailed (that he refused to detail) and how no one in five years has ever had a problem with this tech or their prices. Once he wore himself out I asked him if he would be satisfied with a lump sum of $1800 for a brake job. No breakdown, no explanation. That it's bad policy and that oh, BTW I'll pay a fair price for the service call but I'm not paying him $350 to drain some water. He said not to worry because the tech was already pulling out. Fine with me. PS went elsewhere--American has 5 stars on Yelp, which they deserve. They installed a nicer Bradford White heater (model #rg250t6n) for $1200 out the door, no mitigation needed. They were terrific and I would call them again. read more

However, a friend called me and said try these people they provide 24 hour service. I called and talked to a pleasant young man who stated he would send someone out. about 15 minutes later Eddie called me and said he would be here in about an hour. He was here in 30 minutes and finished the work in less than two hours. Use DiamondBack Pluming!!! Robins came out; the plumber was nice and cordial, but you can tell they're business model is to upsell. He was in the house for 10 minutes and I left after deciding that I'm not willing to open up the walls on a Friday as my tenants are there and he can't even be sure that is the fix. I got a call an hour later when I was at a business lunch and apparently he was still around the property. After affirming that I DID NOT want holes in the wall on a Friday (with no plans to repair) , he asked for a $65 fee. This was not mentioned during my inital call etc. I'm so happy I got multiple quotes as a reputable company performed a water pressure and leak test and found that the pipes aren't leaking, our tenants are only filling up the tub too high and my overfill tubes and hot/cold handles needed a $200 part replacement, not an Insurance case or $4,000 out of pocket. I'm so discouraged that business are out there robbing people of their money. This company could have simply checked the water flow. read more

I would say the BEST plumbing company I've dealt with so far ! I need to add that since this is an emergency and my yard was starting to flood they were able to get NATE within the hour and he called to tell me he's on his way . He explained the situation and the possible solutions . As you can see it's a tough job , very time consuming to get to the leak . Don't use Robins accept if you want to get robbed. I used them couple times when I first moved to Phoenix, this time I called them again as my shower was dripping water after I shut it off and I needed the $10.00 garden fossett replaced. The service man came and told me that it's going to coast me $980.00. I'm not a plumber but I know all its need to change the cartridge its about $20-$30 parts. He tried to tell the shower need to be rebuilt and if I don't used them I will be charged $170.00 for call out and diagnosed. I paid the $170 and called a good handyman very highly recommended and came overt and replaced the parts and charged me $210.00 for everything. I always try to use family owned business but Robins are unethical company they try taking advantage of custmers. read more

Setting the right expectations is a huge part of business. This service experience falls short. I was told over the phone "she" would call when "she" was on her way. Maybe part of the woman owned part? Either way. That made me happy. 2 hours prior to the appointment time, 2 guys show up. Ok. No big deal. No phone call. They're 2 hours early. No she. Ok. 2 guys proceed to tell me their tools aren't charged and they need to charge them. Ok. No big deal. They wait for their tools to charge. These 2 guys are straight out of a sitcom. One tells the other one what to do, they argue about it, then the other one tells the other one what to do. Back and forth. This went on the entire time. I laughed about it. I still am. Apparently, management has never done a ride along with them working together. They finish. One tells me I will get an invoice that same day via email. No invoice that day. He also says that I will receive a quote via email in 24-48 hours. Neither happens. Verified my email address a minimum of 4 times with 3 different people. The next day they call me repeatedly and text me. I call back later get the quote over the phone. I ask again about the invoice and the quote. Weeks have gone by. I have never received the invoice nor the quote. Over promising and under delivering seems to be the common thread here. read more

Eddy was able to chat with the other plumber and worked side by side with him to address our issues while the water kept getting turned on and off. DO NOT USE ROBINS PLUMBING We have a one bathroom 2 bedroom house in Maryvale. Not a ritzy area. We are in our very late seventies. We had a seal break on our toilet and I called Robins Plumbing on 37th Ave in Phoenix AZ. I also asked him to change the washers in the bathtub faucet. Worst decision I've ever made. I didn't have a problem with the actual work but with the pricing. Joey the tech was here for 4 maybe 4.5 hrs. I left my husband to write a check for the work as I had to lay down. Joey the tech came to my husband who had just spent the night in the ER after taking a serious fall the day before. Quoted him $750 for the toilet and $1,745.00 for the bathtub faucet! After my astonished husband wrote a check for $2,735,94 he verified that was a final total. Being assured it was gave the tech the check. A little while later Joey comes to my husband and says he messed up and forgot to add the toilet flange, stating he needed an additional six fifty. My husband thought he mean $6.50. he then handed him his debit card. Joey charged $650.00 plus tax for a total of $690. for a toilet flange! Now we have a $1,400.00 toilet Our total bill was now $3,426.56 for a simple toilet and a low end bathtub faucet that has no flow control. Its either on full or off. Very annoying water wasting cheap faucet. Which I doubt now that we even needed more than the washers replaced. Unless you are rich do not use this company. It was an obvious money grab on a senior citizen. Had I been awake or had my husband not been stressed from the ER visit this would never have happened. I trusted Robins Plumbing as a women owned business who advertised fair and honest pricing to do just that and got the shaft. They will say 'well your husband signed for it.' Well yes he did (on the techs cell phone) and he thought he was signing for $6.50. as he had been assured the check was for the total. I would say this company should be ashamed of themselves. They left no paperwork on billing it was all on Joeys cell phone. The next day I called Robins Plumbing and they were very smart alec asking me well what did I think the bill should be? That was all they could manage to repeat several times. Do not use this company. read more
