I have been attempting the "balayage celebrity" look for what feels like a millennia. Most of the time I felt it wasn't blended enough, not light enough (even after multiple sessions- I know blonde takes time and care), turned brassy too quickly, cut did not accentuate color, and/or grew out stripey and unflattering. I almost gave up- thinking perhaps this dark, course, Asian hair of mine is not meant to have that look. Thank goodness I was recommended to Alisha! I have never written a review, let alone a hair salon review but had such a great time (after so many bad experiences with Seattle hair salons), I had to say something. I came to Elyse for a haircut - I have a wavy black hair that has had some breakage since quarantine started with all the hairbuns and ponytails I've put my hair through. I wanted to cut it pretty short and only have a couple photos. I feel like Elyse was very detail oriented in the couple old pics I showed her (the length, layers, some side long swippy bangs, etc.) that I'd never be able to fully explain in words. She also kept asking me and giving me recommendations throughout the haircut so I was constantly comfortable with how the haircut going (never a "oh we went too far" moment). She finished with styling and gave me tips on how to style and made me feel great with how it all looks. She was also super friendly and never made me feel like I need to buy additional service/serums/products (I hate when a hair salon does this and get very sales-y). Anyways, I've had terrible hair salon experiences where I don't really like the hair result, I feel belittled or pressured to buy additional products/services, etc. Lastly, the hair salon is nice without an air of snootiness (which I feel like is rare compared to all the top hair salons you see on Yelp for Seattle). Last time I had a hair style change was years ago. Being mom keeps you busy and I can't never make time to go the salon. However, the 4 hours I just spent with Micah were soooo worth it! I got the best highlights ever! I'm in love with the color and amazed by the work I had done. I have dark hair so I didn't think I could go ash... beige... cold color but oh yes they made it happened. After scalp treatment with Micah I don't only adore how the skin and hair feels like but also will process all the compliments and pro tips he shared with me for a long while! This is a long overdue review for the BEST hairstylist in Seattle, Cesar and his fabulous assistant, Eileen. I first went to Cesar with very dark brown hair, thinking that I needed and wanted highlights. Because of the depth of color, texture and tone of my hair, Cesar recommended a deep conditioning treatment, both at the salon and at home, before we started the journey of going lighter. When we met again for my first color appointment with him he suggested a full color correction to more efficiently achieve the look I wanted. Cesar was very transparent about the time and cost associated with the treatment, and we agreed on a plan and he went to work. I was a little nervous at first, not knowing that I was literally in the care of a master colorist, and someone incredibly well trained at their craft. Not only was my color the most beautiful medium ash blonde at completion, it also looked and felt healthier than when I had walked in. I knew then and there that I had found my hairstylist for life! I have continued to see Cesar every four weeks (or more often), and every experience with him is as perfect as the first. Cesar also LOVES what he does and is liquid sunshine. He lifts my mood everytime I see him and is just a gem of a person. His assistant Eileen is one of the most caring and thoughtful people you'll meet and does incredible blowouts. I visited Robert Leonard for the first time, (and a salon after many months of shelter in place) Scheduled a haircut with Larisa by reading wonderful reviews on Yelp - and they were not wrong! Larisa is an amazing hairdresser and generally a very positive person to be around. She consulted on how I wanted to style my hair and put all her efforts into styling my hair exactly how I wanted! She kept complimenting my hair and talked positively throughout the cut - which was a great pick me up I needed. I have seen Larisa at RL Salon a few times now and have only had good experiences after having a few bad ones before coming to see her! I was a bit jaded from my prior colors but I let Larisa know my end goal with my hair and she was very upfront about how long things would take and the process. I started with very dark hair and so it took a few times to get to this lighter color but I am just so grateful she told me that from the start instead of making me think I could achieve the look I was going for in one visit. I have been coming here since 2018 but will not come back again. In my last 2 reviews, I had 5 star experience with Alisha but she is very popular and it's very hard to book her schedule at a very last minute. So I have started to see another hair stylist for hair coloring for the past few times. And I totally forgot that if you only book hair coloring appointment, they DO NOT dry your hair AT ALL! Maybe it's because I used to come here during the summer time and it's okay to walk out the salon with wet hair, but we are in January now and it's too cold to walk out with wet hair. After coloring my hair (single color for the roots only, $120 before tax and tip), my hairstylist reminded me that she can not dry my hair because I didn't want a blow dry service, so she can't dry my hair. As I am going to gym tonight, I don't want to pay for $40 and then have to wash my hair again after gym, so I asked her if she can just dry my hair without styling it. I just don't want to walk out the salon with very wet hair in January. But she said she can't do it per the store's policy. Then I asked her if I could stay under the hot air stations they have, just to make the hair less wet. They have 2 stations and no one was using them. She said she needed to check if they can let me do it. She came back and said she can let me use the station for a few minutes.....literally a few minutes. She came back after 5 minutes even though my hair was still pretty wet and there was no one else waiting to use the station.... What made this experience even worse is that when I asked if I can borrow a plastic hair tie to tie my wet hair, she said she has to check.... Then she came back with 2 very tiny hair ties that I can barely put my hair in ... I guess it's better than nothing. What annoyed me here is that I have been coming here for several years even though only a few times per year. I get that I am not a "regular" but I am also not a stranger. Besides, I always pay 20% tips. Always...apart from today, I paid 18% today as I was pissed. I just think that they can try a little harder and be a bit nicer. It's January, help your customer not to walk out the salon with very wet hair in the cold weather, let them use the hot hair station a little longer. This wouldn't cost you a lot of money. read more

I worked with Micah and Maddy for an update on my hair color and hair cut, and I enjoyed every single second of the process. Maddy was wonderful at listening and taking in feedback for adjustments I wanted to make the cut feel more how I wanted it, and really did well at getting the inspiration photos I used translated into the end result. Micah was excellent at adjusting the color to what my specific hair needs are, as I have previous color bands in my hair that needed to be taken into account. They were meticulous and spent so much time just making sure my hair color ended up as close as possible to what I wanted it to be, and I think that the end results are better than I was expecting from the overall process! I went to Robert Leonard for the first time a couple weeks ago and was SO impressed. Warm welcomes and a coffee or water when you walk in, the salon is clean and beautifully decorated, and the service is excellent. It is a salon filled with kindness and professionalism, and I can't wait to go back in a few months! I have been seeing Ezra for about 4 years now. He is newer to Robert Leonard, and I followed him from his previous salon. He is a Master Colorist, and I cannot speak highly enough about him. I am naturally a lighter brunette and wanted to go blonder a few years back. I told him to do whatever he thought would look good and that I fully trusted him. The result was better than I could have imagined. He always explains fully what is going to be doing and why he thinks it will work for me. I LOVED being blonde but recently decided to stay closer to my natural color after covid. All I told him was that I wanted to keep my natural but be a little brighter. He gave me exactly that. AMAZING EXPERIENCE! A couple of months ago I moved to Seattle for work, first time here, not knowing a single person. I really needed a haircut and I finally decided that I want to switch things up and have balayage done too. I found this salon on yelp and noticed that customers are raving about Alisha. And let me tell you, Seattle has many really good rated hair salons, but I trusted my instincts and contacted Alisha to set up a consultation. I have been waiting to write this review but no good time than now- a month from my haircut from Johnny is a good time to evaluate how things really went. I have had hard time with haircuts in the last 3 years since I moved from India. Johnny is finally the right hairstylist because he gave me layers that are long and manageable and I can finally keep my hair down all the time as I loved to. Although I love my hair, the pricing was absurd. I've been going here off and on for a few years and have seen my stylist twice before but I've never done a full balayage with her. She did a very great job and was very thorough. She kept me updated on the entire process on what she was doing and is very educated. But when the receptionist told me how much the price was for my full balayage and haircut... I wanted to faint. I was in such shock, I didn't even know what to do. It's the most I've ever spent on my hair for a full balayage, even triple the amount. It was over $950.... And that's not including tip yet. Im not sure if this is because of inflation but as much as I'd love to come back here I physically can't afford it. It keeps me up at night knowing how much I spent and I'm just so upset the pricing was that much. Maybe it's my fault for not asking but I thought it could not be more than at most $500, let alone double that. It's upsetting I spent that much but lesson learned the hard way unfortunately.
