OK, so I wanted a massage. This place was open, nearby, and had good reviews. On first glace, it's a really nice place. However, upon arriving, I was told my therapist was late and that they tried to call me but had my number wrong. So I hung around the area til 9:30, then checked back. They led me to the "lounge" where I could change. They didn't tell me what do do with my clothes, which I found out I could leave in the changing room or carry to the treatment room with me. As I continued to wait for my therapist, a woman was chatting away loudly on her phone. The space is oddly sterile in spite of the decor. Anders, my therapist, finally arrived (9:35) and led me to the treatment room, which was obviously an aesthetician's room. High ceilings, tile floor, equipment... Not a cozy, welcoming massage room. After a minimal intake interview (and oddly, no paperwork at all), it was massage time. Throughout the session, I could hear the desk welcoming and leading people through: *clomp clomp clump* "And these are our treatment rooms" *clomp clump clomp* The massage. If I wasn't a massage therapist myself (as I told Anders), I would have been underwhelmed, but I'll say I was downright disappointed. In my 90 minute session, I would say he did 20 minutes of good, solid work. Very little time was spent on my requested areas, and most of the rest was randomly attacking my body with some sort of loose-first glides, just over and over. On one foot, he just pulled on it 25 times in a row. And that was that foot done. I have never been so bored during a massage, and that includes my time in massage school. Further, he never checked in on pressure or my overall comfort. There was no sense of continuity or making the massage feel whole. As soon as I was on the table, he had the sheet back and was "working." Then when he unceremoniously completed the session (without head, neck, and face... WTF?) he asked me if I wanted water, thanked me for coming in, and that was the last I saw of him. At least I can use it as a learning experience of how not to treat my clients. read more

This salon is great! I think I've been coming here for almost 10 years now, and its a great place to get pampered. I come regularly for haircuts with Shane. He is amazing! The haircuts are great, and if its not 100% perfect the first time, they'll touch it up for free (though this rarely happens). The best parts are the scalp massages during the shampoo/conditioner. That makes it worth it right there. I also like how you get to change into a robe for the cut, so you don't get any hair trimmings on your own shirt. I've also had various spa treatments over the years: facial, massage, pedis, etc. They've all been great. This is a great place to treat yourself! read more

I've been going here for about 5yrs now and I can't believe I haven't written a review yet. My first few haircuts were with Rachel whom did a good job but then I started to see Shane for my quarterly haircuts and in-between bangtrims. He's been my stylist for 5yrs now and he's so awesome! I absolutely trust him to get my hair "right" all of the time. He pays such attention to details but is also relax and easy going. Shane knows exactly how I want my hair cut and how I want to look like when I walk out of the salon and that can be challenging since I have long thick asian hair that is most of the time a resemblance of Diana Ross's hair. The 1 1/2hrs that I'm there are very fun because I have complete trust in him to make my hair gorgeous. I've also had massages and waxes by various people there and I thoroughly enjoy them all. The staff is very friendly (especially like how nice Robert is whenever I see him and that he steps in to take care of the clients) and I love how personable and profession eveyone is. I was just at Seven Salon and although the trendy-hip atmosphere can be nice, the people were not so friendly and the girls were very snobby like they were better than me. I'm sad that I even tried another salon, but I will never do it again and vow my commitment to going to Robert Leonard for as long as Shane's there =) read more

I made an appointment and saw Lisa for a haircut. At checkin they said I am in good hands and they were right! I enjoyed my experience. Lisa was efficient and precise. I didn't have to show her pictures of what I wanted but she gave me the exact style that I had hoped to get. At some places they ask if you have pictures of what you want to achieve and such which is good but I am impressed as to how precise Lisa was. And she also complemented my recent baleyage numerous times even though I did not receive my color service there - she is very professional! She gave me her card and I will be back for my next hair service. read more

Robert Leonard Salon & Day Spa is conveniently located (right by Amazon), luxurious and offers the best stylist! Nicole is an exceptional stylist. She takes a consultative approach in determining the right course of action so that you walk out feeling like a star. Nicole consults with me about what I'd like to achieve from a cut and color perspective then she whips up a magical color formula and, once that's done it's work, she ushers me over to the wash station for a delightful (the shampoo smelled delicious) pre-cut wash... When Nicole starts to style, my sense of ease continues because Nicole cuts with notable confidence. After a dry and style, I am always happy to spin around take in the finished product! I have short hair and so there is no room for error and I don't need one with Nicole. Beyond short hair, I referred my long haired blonde mom to Nicole and was equally impressed with the way she consulted, created a color that was perfect on my mom (not too blonde, not too ash, just right), added a few long layers and styled her up like a queen. My husband also sees Nicole. At first, he doubted going to a salon for a mens cut but one cut and all doubt was removed. My point here - long hair, short hair, curly hair, straight hair... you can't go wrong with Nicole! read more

I started going to Robert Leonard maybe a year and a half ago? When I moved here anyway. My first appointment was with Vladi and I have gone back to her since. I love the salon: great customer service, clean and efficient service, and of course a great hair cut every time. I only go to RL for my hair, because of monetary restraints. I would absolutely go for any other salon services, and I am sure that they would be as wonderful as my haircuts. Making (and moving) appointments is very easy and I love coming here. read more

I saw Eric for a full Ballyage and Lisa for a haircut. Best Ever! So Happy! My color was boring me and Eric added in depth, variation and excitement back into my color. He added lighter blond and caramel to my brunette color. I absolutely love it. It adds interest. Lisa cut my hair with precision technique and I am delighted. She added just enough layers to give it volume and shape while not making it look shaggy or stringly. (I have fine hair) with new cut and color, I look forward to styling and not having to pull my hair into the boring ponytail. I got two compliments yesterday. Will be back. I came in to do a big cut, going from waist length hair to a lob, and Amanda Dang delivered big time. I have naturally wavy hair and she suggested a technique called razoring rather than a traditional scissor hair cut (basically it keeps my hair real light and encourages waves rather than letting it get weighed down). Loving it short and if I decide to grow it out this cut will hold. Great body and volume, Amanda was fun and really knowledgeable. Definitely will be back! read more

I have always liked my hair cuts but not loved. I went here and Taylor gave me the best hair cut I've ever had that i actually loved. She seems to really know what she is doing, and have a good eye for what works and would look good. Usually when i get hair cuts i get nervous not really knowing what they are doing back there but she talked to me the whole time letting me know what she was doing and i appreciated that. I've had hairdresser problems ever since I moved to Seattle which was 3 years ago. I decided to give this place a shot because I really needed to get my hair cut for an event the next day. (After absolutely zero nourishment for the last year) Literally the kind of person that really does an extensive research before going into a place cause I'm that paranoid of something happening to my hair. The crew here were very accommodating me at the very last minute for an appointment - I had read so many wonderful reviews about a specific hairdresser but was told she was out for the day. That's when they told me Elyse was available and I decided to go for it. Elyse has oodles of patience , really listens and gives you exactly what you want. Not only that, she provided great suggestions outside of just salon products to maintain health of my hair (I've noticed certain places tend to be very salesy and try pushing their own salon products). At the end of it all, I left the place with exactly what I had envisioned in terms of haircut and styling. To add, they've been following multiple protocols to keep the space safe and sanitised during these difficult times. I have been going to RL off and on for about 7 years. The off and on is because I keep moving away. If you are looking for a great Mani/Pedi you've got to go see Angela! Hint- make sure you get Angela. The front desk staff are willing to do anything possible and the customer service is way more personable than anything you'd ever get at the Gene Juarez or Nordstrom Spas. They get 4 stars because of the environment. The chairs were are old BUT right before I moved to SF they were in the process for building out a beautiful back room with brand new super deluxe do it all for you chairs. Ladies and Gentlemen- Treat yourself, or become a new believer in the Robert Leonard, Angela Mani/Pedi. Been going to Kaio for almost three years now, and my hair has never looked better! Kaio does amazing cuts and also has an incredible eye for color. He started his career in LA and brought a bit of that Hollywood Glam with him when he moved to Seattle. He's one of the sweetest and most professional stylists I've ever met -- a true artist. The salon may look understated from the outside, but it's big, open and beautiful on the inside. Exclusive without being stuffy, Robert Leonard reminds me of top salons in LA, focused more on customer service and building the right clientele instead of growing at all costs. This is no Super Cuts, Rudy's, or Gene Juarez pumping out clients with cookie-cutter haircuts. Robert Leonard is the real deal, and so is Kaio! read more

Haven't had that type of customer service from any salon in a long while. A simple acknowledgement from reception as you walk in, even though they were with another client, was pleasingly unexpected. I would dare to say that Robert Leonard Salon has become the best salon on the West Coast. I loved the original salon back in the 90s. Since then, I moved to L.A., where I spent two decades trying out the best hair stylists in Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, etc. After returning to Seattle last year, I was thrilled to see that the Robert Leonard Salon was still in business, with a beautiful new location and new owners that have put so much thought into every aspect of this amazing salon. Then I had my hair cut and colored by the truly talented Alisha Nakamura. Let me tell you that I finally have the hair I've always dreamed of. Alisha is so intuitive, meticulous and creative with everything she does. Her assistant, Micah is also incredible and and a true gem. I appreciate that Alisha was very straightforward and upfront about costs, so I was able to plan and budget accordingly. I could not be happier and I'm so grateful! I have been going to Kaio Wilker at Robert Leonard for almost 3 years. I used to be one of the "budget-minded" people that considered getting a haircut was a chore... but no more. Kaio listens to what I want and consults me with his vision of what we can do. I really enjoy getting my hair done now, and the results are consistently superior to anything I've had in the past. You know you have good hair when everyone around you starts noticing it, and I feel really comfortable with the way my style has settled to become something modern, cool, and professional with Kaio's help. This review is for Lauren at Robert Leonard. I live in the Bay Area but am in town visiting family and was in serious need of some hair maintenance. Lauren did belayage, a Brazilian Blowout and a cut and it came out perfect. I have multi-racial hair that is not easy to work with and not only did the color come out exactly as I wanted but my hair has never felt and looked so good. Lauren was attentive, friendly and knew exactly what she was doing. It's also a beautiful salon with super friendly people and staff. Char did an AMAZING job coloring and highlighting my hair. As I was leaving, I had at least 2 people say, "Wow! Your hair looks amazing!" And I don't think they were being nice. They really meant it. She is running a special right now so call the salon and ask about it. Char is warm, personable and went so above and beyond in helping me get the right match for my hair, explaining color to me. What I most appreciated is that she did everything - and I mean everything! - she could to help me. I had goofed in not ordering highlights. When her next client cancelled, she asked me if I had time. I told her yes, but I had a call at 1 pm. She made sure I had a quiet room, gave me a plug for my iPhone as it was about to run out of juice, provided a notepad and pen so I would have everything I needed for my meeting. And she asked the front desk to pick up my meal next door for lunch. That is service!!! read more

Robert Leonard provides a relaxing atmosphere in which to have my hair done. Everyone is happy, welcoming, and ready to make me feel special! Amy is the best stylist. She gives a wonderful cut. The hair always stays in style day after day without me having to do a thing except brush it! She also does excellent color, all done with a smile and pleasing personality. RL is a very large, but relaxing salon with comfy couches and soothing music! You can have a massage, waxing, manicure and pedicure as well. Seen a few people at this salon and it's always great. Now I routinely see David Gerard and he's amazing. The color is perfect and the cut lasts a long time while always looking fresh. He's super easy to get along with and always makes me feel really comfortable. I am pretty particular about my hair and it takes a couple hours to do, so finding a stylist that does a great job but I can also enjoy chatting with during that whole time is always though. read more
