Left Eugene in 1994, the best pizza was Peitros Pizza. The cornmeal crispy crust, great sauce, perfect amount of cheese, and loads of fresh toppings. Came back for a funeral today, stopped at Roaring Rapids and noticed the menu was very similar to Peitros. Pizza is pricey, drinks are cheap the the place is busy. They must have bought the business from Peitros. Would go back on my next visit, pizza places just dont do the Peitro Crust anywhere else. I love the crust. read more

We just went here for my son's 4th birthday party and we had such a great time!! The server who helped us was named Alan and he was so nice and helpful and couldn't have been more easy to work with. We asked to be seated outside at the last minute since the weather was so nice and they said it was no problem. It was free to reserve tables for a 20 person party and the kids AND adults all had fun (which is somewhat rare for a kids birthday party!). The kids loved playing the arcade games and riding the carousel (which is free and goes every 15 minutes). This place is a hidden gem and has amazing river views. We will definitely be back!! It's hard to give this place an accurate star rating but here is my attempt. Roaring Rapids is designed for kids, and if you're a parent who wants to sit outside enjoying the great view of the Willamette enjoying a good beer while the kids excite themselves to weariness, then this is probably a great spot for you. However, the food is mediocre. Pesto Chicken pizza left a lot to be desired, the crust was especially bizarre, to be fair I did smell and see some other more appetizing pizzas go by so maybe it was just a poor choice. They do have live music throughout the summer (I think) and the Joe Manis trio were incredible. I would go anywhere his band are playing... Just held a bachelorette party here last weekend. Parking was plenty as they have a huge lot that they share with Camp Putt. The atmosphere was good, we made a reservation and they put us in the back of a side room, it was perfect! No kids running past screaming and we had our own little party space. While everyone loved the atmosphere and the carousel rides, not everyone liked the pizza. The crust was bland and too crunchy to even be worth eating. The toppings were good, but kind of blah when paired with the crust. I tried the Umpqua Barbeque Chicken and the Owyhee Garden Medley, both of which are usually my favorites at other places. Not near enough chicken or BBQ flavor made that pizza fail, you couldn't even taste the sun dried tomatoes on it. The veggie was mildly better thanks to the veggies that were piled on it but still wasn't great thanks to the crust. The quality was definitely not what I was expecting when we paid around $25 for each pie. We did like the unlimited refills on the soft drinks though! Maybe the deep dish crust would have been better, we'll try it if we ever come back. Overall I would only recommend coming here if you really want a carousel ride or want to enjoy the view from the patio. The food is too tasteless to justify the cost. read more

Growing up we used to go to Pietro's Pizza at this location before it was sold and the new owner changed the name to Roaring Rapids Pizza. When it comes to pizza, we aren't too picky but we do have standards. We like thin crispy crust - check. We like pan crust that isn't soggy - check. We like real cheese - check. We like the right amount of sauce; not too much, not too little - check We like fresh toppings - check The comment about frozen crust in another review is ridiculous considering you can watch them make it from the counter. When we are going out for pizza, we care more about the experience than the pizza itself. For the adults, there is not a better view of the river with outdoor seating in the greater Eugene / Springfield area. No noticeable mosquitoes which is rare for outdoor seating in Oregon, especially in the summer when you're close to the water. For the kids they have a small game room with an arcade, no ball pit so I don't have to say no to the kids wanting to crawl around in a disease infested pool, and best of all, a historic carousel with free rides for the kids! What can be better than that? The staff is polite and friendly. Service is typical for a pizza place. Order at the counter, they give you a number and deliver to the table. If it's not too busy, they may even come to refill your drink, but expect to go to the window for your refills. There is ample free parking and seating for any size group, but use your head. If you're taking everyone you know, call ahead and they will reserve a big enough section for you. For those looking for a little more entertainment before or after dinner, the best mini golf course in town is in the same parking lot just steps away. Prices are average for a dine in pizza place, but with the view and free carousel rides it makes it better than most in my book. Bachelor / Bachelorette parties / business meetings - no. Pizza was good enough, but not spectacular. Nice place for a large party as there's plenty of space with a couple of more private rooms and has a nice view of the river. Main complaint though is that the prices are pretty bad. It was $35 or so for a large pizza. I'd expect it to be more around $20 for the quality, so you can see that there's quite a disparity. Way way too expensive for what you get. Not enough toppings on the pizza. Example, "The Panero- Pepperoni, and LOTS of it! Everybody's favorite!" There was 1/2 - 2 slices of pepperoni per slice of pizza. If you boast "LOTS of it" for a $14 small pizza, I expect to not see cheese under the pepperoni. The sauce is indistinct. What happened to maintaining Pietro's standards as they claimed in the beginning. Been coming to this location for 35 years, back when Pietro's had the outdoor train. I come back for two reasons - the outdoor dining experience and the crust. Expect a family - think lots of kids - and expensive dining experience. I grew up and still order Hawaiian and Taco Pizza. Came here with mom on July 26 around noon. We had the buffet. I tried a green pizza that was delicious. Had my first bbq pizza here and It was pretty good. Plenty of toppings for my salad. If your looking for a place that does not offer you plates with your pizza you have found it. They do have a merry-go-round that needs paint and only seems to run after you ask several times. Staff are friendly, but the drink servers are suspicious of patrons they are a little rude and checking receipts multiple times. Food is ok and they do have nice seating out side. read more

Garbage pizza at a premium price. 35 bucks for a large pizza? I can get a real pizza at Mezza Luna for 26 and it is 10 times better! Only reason I came here was for a kids party. Apparently the owners are doing well peddling this overpriced "chuck E cheese" atmosphere to parents but I cannot understand how they can afford it. My friend says she spends 100 bucks to take her 2 girls there on occasion but she dreads them asking her to go. They can burn through 20 bucks each in a half an hour on the overpriced video games. 11.25 for a SMALL pitcher of beer and 16.00 for a large. 5.50 for a one trip small salad. We got a medium pizza for 26.00 and it was not enough for my wife and I with a 7 year old. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place like the plague. This used to be some of the best Pizza available in the Eugene Springfield area so when I called in an order and was quoted $60 for two pizzas I was ok with it because it was worth it. I don't know what has happened, different management or what but something drastic has happened to the Roaring Rapids that I have such fond memories of. There were less than two pieces of pineapple for each slice of the Hawaiian and the combination was just a 3 meat with mushrooms. Both of the Large pizzas together weighed about 5 lbs including the boxes. I would have expected a family of 4 to be able to get full on $60 worth of pizza but we had to go get big bites at 7/11 when we were through As far as taste, sure, the crust was great as usual and the extremely scarce toppings were ok but there just wasn't enough of it there to be worth the stop. One of the most disgusting, mediocre and expensive "pizza" I've eaten, if you can even call it that. The pizza sauce it's literally just tomato paste thinned with water. The combination that we got had green peppers in it and they forgot to add it before they cooked it, so they just added a slices of RAW green peppers at the end, so careless. My daughter and I met at roaring rapids with a group of people that I have worked with for several year's. We came in at approximately 3:49pm and ordered 3 pizzas (2 pizzas were to go home to our families.) We had ask the host if there could made the 2 pizza to go later. The reply was yes they could. We waited OVER an hour for one pizza The group that we were with had already eaten and had theirs boxed up to go home. My daughter went to the counter and ask where our pizza was 40 minutes later time was 4:40pm They said they were sorry brought us breadsticks about 15 minutes later. For the 2 of us spending approximately $90 for pizza's and compensating with breadsticks. I will add that when we did get the one pizza it was cold. That was such an embarrassment.
