I am very disappointed with the Happy Hour choices of cocktails. When a restaurant offers one of the cheapest vodkas and thinks customers get a bargain is very foolish. Happy Hour should be regular bar liquor selections at a reduced price. Don't offer Smirnoff vodka at a cheap price when it is a cheap vodka and isn't worth more than their Happy Hour price! Unfortunately, many local restaurants (and there are several) are doing the same thing and it is insulting to those who know better. Why are Dominick's and Village Tavern Happy Hours so popular? Check out their Hour Hours menus -- no cheap liquor substitutes there! These two restaurants know how to treat their patrons and don't use the cheap liquor gimmicks and call it Happy Hour reduced prices. They also have delicious Happy Hour food choices. read more

This place has some of the best food anywhere. The fish was amazing (Gulf Snapper) and even the mac and cheese was surprisingly well made and unique. We went on a quiet night so there were only a couple other tables with people so there was a good vibe. Our server (Kenny) was attentive and professional. Awesome! I was on a business trip in Arizona and this place was recommended. Our group of 6 sat on the patio (they had fires going so the temperature was nice). It was dinner and the waiter was awesome (I think his name was Paul). We had the chili Mac & cheese and it was good (I am not a Mac & Cheese person - AT ALL). I had the Salmon and tasted the pork tenderloin. Both dishes were awesome. The food is presented nicely. One in our group had the fish tacos (which were actually shrimp that night). he said they were awesome. I want to try the Big Ass burger - maybe as a carb load before a run the next day. The ambiance was perfect for conversation with business colleagues. I will caveat that our dinner was at the same time as the BCS championship game. The waiter even noted that the restaurant traffic was light. We had a great time and I learned that there is a location in Austin in my neck of the woods. Funny, I had to travel to learn of great spot in my own backyard. I'm adding Roaring Fork to one of my favs! Try it! read more

All night summer happy hour made the bar area of the restaurant a hoppin place on a Thursday night. We sat in the restaurant area. Date and goat cheese salad and some Sonoma Cutrer? Yes please. I'm not sure how to describe Roaring Fork. It's a little bit frontier Arizona feeling, a little southwestern, but neither of those in an over the top, contrived way. As you walk in the large stone hearth greets you with the sight of rotisserie chickens roasting away. It's a signature item on the menu. The bar seemed lively. The cuisine is excellent. Everything on the menu appealed to me, but I chose to start with the tortilla soup and the duck for my entree. Both were wonderful. Southwestern flavors were evident, but not overpowering. I would have proceeded on to dessert but between my appetizer and entre (not to mention the excellent biscuits laced with bits of bacon and the sweet corn muffins) I was stuffed. Pretty good! Went here with some colleagues on a business trip earlier this year. I wanted some thing that wasn't super spicy so I went with the Spinach Chicken Waldorf Salad. It was great with lots of flavor and variety of ingredients. Only $13 too, really good deal. I felt like I had eaten just the right amount of food & healthy food at that. We were able to get a table for about 5 or so people on a Monday night, so I guess that's that time to go if you don't want to wait. Everyone else ordered steaks or fish and it all looked and smelled amazing, but I wanted to err on the side of caution since I have a bit of an unpredictable stomach and, well, it's not a great feeling to be sick on travel, ya know? If I ever came back here I would probably try the salmon or steak...unfff! Smelled so good! read more

We went here for dinner tonight because it was Arizona Restaurant week and they had a special menu. They were offering an appetizer, entree, and dessert for $29 a person. Unlike other restaurants, the items on this special menu were some of the same on their regular menu and really represented an outstanding value. We both had the Yucatan Shrimp Coctail. One would have been enough to share but we each had eight very large, succulent, and very tasty shrimps. I had the Mahi-Mahi Tacos, which were excellent and the other person with me, had the Dr. Pepper Shortribs, which were tasty but a bit too fatty and heavy. Dessert was pretty good but we could barely eat it since we were stuffed. If there was one shortcoming, the food came out too quickly. I noticed it was the same for all the other tables as well. The appetizer came out right away and before I know it, the entree comes out. Slow it down! It seemed like just a few minutes after we finished the entree, the desert came out. Needless to say, I felt the dining experience was too rushed. Also, when we arrived, the dining room was virtually empty so I am not sure why they seated us and the 4 other groups of people who came in afterwards all in the back room. It was a bit odd, being in this room full with other people and seeing the main dining area, which in my opinion was much nicer being empty. Went with a party of 16 and loved this place. I had the bacon wrapped pork tenderloin with a side of the green chili mac and cheese and it was excellent. My wife had fish tacos which were great as well. Everyone at the table seemed to enjoy what they got. The carnitas looked good and my friend said he enjoyed them. His girlfriend had a filet and the one bite I tried of it was excellent. The location is a little different, as people have said...but once you get in the front door, it's a cool atmosphere and the patio in the back is very nice and spacious. This is now my go to spot. Great prices for happy hour. In fact, happy hour is from 4-close all summer. I really like the guava mojito and I don't even drink mojito. Like most people have said, you can't go wrong with the big ass burger. The green chili pork looks great too. I'll have to try that next. Roaring fork has a great happy hour. I really liked the huckleberry margarita. I did try the "big ass burger" because so many people have told me that I have to try it. I actually wasn't impressed. I would probably come back with friends for happy hour but I don't think I would take visiting guests here for dinner. The restaurant is really nice and seems cozy. read more

Wow! What a cool atmosphere. And the food... My husband and I went here for date night and were blown away by the great service and unbelievable food. We ordered the lamb fondue appetizer unsure of what to expect and were pleasantly surprised-Our favorite part of the night. I had a Caesar salad and the bacon wrapped filet mignon served with mashed potatoes and asparagus while he ordered the tortilla soup and the ribeye with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Everything was delicious. Our steaks were cooked perfectly, and his ribeye had such great flavor. We definitely recommend this restaurant, and will be back. Happy hour is awesome, great prices, great food, great drinks, great atmosphere. I will say that the reservation/table situation is a bit of a nightmare during happy hour there though. They don't take reservations, they don't take numbers for tables, it's just first come first serve. This means that to get a table, most people would just wait like normal human beings, however, some choose to hawk over tables until people leaving, asking them if they are leaving soon, etc. It creates a bad atmosphere and can really invite an unpleasant element. So 5 starts for food, drink, service and ambience. Negative 5 stars for that policy...and that policy affects the entire happy hour experience...you can do better Roaring Fork, common now! read more

This place had great food! I had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. Soo delicious!!!! My husband got the Big Ass Burger, he said it was the best burger he's ever ate! It was so huge! The waiter didn't really know how to pair a wine or recommend another wine because they do not serve moscato. He forgot to give us utensils, enough appetizer plates for our party, and didn't give a water to the little 3 year old at our table. When we asked for a water, he brought back a glass water for a 3 year old. Really? No kid friendly cup? The food is amazing though! I would definitely go back for the food. this place was so busy we had to sit at the bar table and that was on a Friday night so it was not shocking. the food was great, but not in the least bit healthy. I am sure I could have picked better options but the menu has too many beef or pork based temptations to go another way. I had a shrimp with spicy creamy dipping sauce that was insane and the house specialty the Green Chile Pork Stew was an amazing adventure. This stew was simply pork with hot cheese and strips of green hot peppers all cooked together in a small urn that you might have see hanging over a campfire 100 years ago. The atmosphere was fun and lively and the service was very good. I guess there are some desert specialties but we didn't try any- a bakery at the front of the restaurant makes it easy to take home the delicious-looking desserts as well. read more
