Chicken wings
David R.

My girlfriend and I ended up coming to Roaring Fork two nights in a row because it was that good. The first night, I had the ribeye and she ordered the fried chicken with gravy and mashed potatoes -- both were outstanding. The steak was perfectly cooked and flavorful, and her chicken was crispy, rich, and pure comfort food. We shared the Brussels sprouts and the truffle fries, which were both incredible sides and easily big enough to split. I also had an Old Fashioned that was well-balanced and paired perfectly with the meal. We couldn't stop talking about it, so we came back the next night. This time we shared the "Big Ass Burger" and the wings, and somehow still saved room for dessert -- the skillet chocolate pecan brownie, which was absolutely decadent and the perfect way to finish the meal. Beyond the food, the ambience here really makes it special. Inside feels warm, cozy, and romantic, while the outdoor views are beautiful and add to the whole experience. Definitely one of those places that feels both elevated and comfortable at the same time. Two nights in a row says it all -- we'll absolutely be back.

Roaring Fork in Oldtown is a must try! It fully embraces American Western Cuisine utilizing an open flame grill, and it's amazing! This place is great for a date night, celebration, business meal or start to the night out. The service is professional and gets every detail right! The steak is incredible! They cook it to absolute perfection & the seasoning they use is a game changer! I'm a huge chimichurri fan and they get it right; the chipotle Demi is a great accompaniment! No surprise, the salmon is also cooked perfectly try and the Asian flare makes this dish fantastic! You can never go wrong with getting cornbread on the side; be sure to try this spot out!

One of my wife's favorites . We always get a table . They do have a great happy hour but I equate that to a geriatric running of the bulls. I've never seen so many older people (I'm 67) fighting and squeezing to get in the bar to save a few bucks on a burger. I love a deal but I can afford dinner at a nice table rather than fighting for a spot. My wife and I took our daughter and son in law for a nice leisurely Christmas Eve dinner. Great food, service and ambiance. Perfect night!

Nice, casual ambiance during happy hour. I feel like the bar staff does not have time to educate newbies. For a first timer, I didn't know where the restrooms were. And when I asked the bartender, he started laughing like it was a joke. So I would recommend giving a little grace to those that are new to the facility. The food (a burger)arrived trainable and it was delicious. There is accessible parking as well as entrance.

Birthday dinner for one of my besties and it was fantastic! Great table and menu selections are thoughtful. The Envious OF was good but somewhat ordinary compared to the rest of the choices. My pork tenderloin was immaculate. Often anything bacon wrapped is hit or miss if both are cooked correctly. Crispy bacon and tender medium pork loin was on point! The cornbread appetizer was enjoyed by all. Pecan pie was served with Butter pecan ice cream-a very nice surprise. Travis was our server. He wrangled us pretty well.

Kaileigh was our server and did an amazing job, we sat on the patio Category 6 Lemonade Smirnoff Citron, raspberry and orange vodka, chambord, lime, Huckleberry lemonade Delicious, refreshing, good blend of liquors Peach Palmer Ketel One peach and Orange blossom, lemonade, iced tea I don't know if it's just the vodka, but I don't taste peach, I don't taste orange, I just taste water Queso con Puerco Green chili pork, red pepper relish, corn chips I could eat a vat of this, really delicious, an amazing amount of pork, good heat Big ass burger Poblano, cheddar, bacon, lettuce, (no tomato for us), onion, pickles, Chipotle mayo, we ordered it cooked medium, comes with fries The burger patty doesn't taste like there was any seasoning used, we asked for medium and got closer to rare, the burger patty to bun ratio was so far off the patty immediately slid out the back side of the bun with the first bite, The bacon was there but in name only, I didn't detect even a hint of poblano, we even tried to salvage it by putting the queso puerco on it, but it was not going to help We sent it back and decided to get the crispy chicken bites appetizer The fries were amazing, seasoned well, crispy on the outside, the Chipotle mayo was delicious Crispy chicken bites appetizer Right off the bat the presentation was okay, but it was very obvious that some of the pieces had been fried much longer than others based on the color of the breading, after taking the first bite it was immediately obvious these were not seasoned chicken bites that were fried, these were basic Sysco chicken bites that had been fried, and then tossed with seasoning salt, likely some food service Nashville hot seasoning, and the ranch just tasted like something from a jar These went back as well, after speaking to the manager I've been considering coming here for years, and I was really looking forward to it To say that the food missed the mark is an understatement, sadly, this has been my experience several times in the Scottsdale road corridor Obviously not recommending, not returning

Roaring Fork 2-4-1 holiday special! Wow! Sign up for their email to enjoy this amazing deal! Two for the Price of one meal. Even without that special, the food here is amazing. The slow roasted chicken was melt in your mouth lovely and so flavorful. The cornbread stuffing was light and not overdone. Huckleberry syrup is dangerously addictive. Ask for a splash in your tea, lemonade, margarita. I had it in my Arnold Palmer and the the delicious decadent cheesecake. I will be back for the lamb fondue appetizer and the cheesecake on non 2-4-1 days!

It was the last place my family and I visited during our trip. A couple of friends joined us for dinner. It was a beautiful interior, very rustic but hip. It was cool and dark, and the tables and seating were very comfortable. It heightened the experience. Our server was excellent. She was very patient and let us catch up with our friends over some outstanding cocktails. I had the Old Fashioned. It was so good, I had two. We ordered 3 amazing appetizers - The chicken wings, the queso, and the Jalapeño poppers wrapped in bacon. Everything was outstanding. Dinner entrees were equally fantastic. Two of my kids had the "big ass burger", and the third had the fried chicken. One of our guests and my wife had the shrimp and grits and were very happy. I ordered the 22 oz., bone-in rib-eye steak cooked medium rare to rare. It was perfectly prepared and so amazingly juicy. It was one of the best steaks that I have had anywhere. I ate every bite and gnawed on the bone. We also ordered the street corn and the truffled fries as sides, and we were VERY happy with all of them. The food was simply the best we had in Scottsdale. I do not know what the final cost was, as our guests picked up the bill. I do not believe the prices I remember from the menu were out of line for the quantity and quality of the food. If you want an elegant night out and have amazing food, service, and drinks, then go here.

Happy Birthday greeting!

We arrived early for our reservation and was accompanied by the staff easily. The Happy hour starts at 4 pm and, wow!, the people began pouring in! The food menu for happy hour is really good. We had a cheese dip with chili verde. Very good! Dinner menu is a bit limited. I didn't give 5 stars for this reason only. Honestly this is a really good meal and our server, Matt was nothing short of perfect! The final, absolutely DO NOT MISS, no matter what, is the pecan pie. Seriously! We live in Cave Creek and might drive all of the way down here just for that!!! The restaurant's atmosphere is cozy and the noise level is low. We easily carried on comfortable conversations. This was so refreshing! I would think this would be a great place for business lunch/dinners. Edited: I increased from 4 to 5 stars bc of the awesome staff! And the giant pecan pie portion!

My mom is super picky about where she likes to go for a sit-down meal, and usually she doesn't eat out at restaurants, precisely because she has such high and specific standards. That she loves Roaring Fork's happy hour so much is a testament to what a great experience they provide. My mom loves taking every friend or family member who visits from out of town here, and I like it, too. You'd never know from looking at the location that there's a restaurant tucked in this area of office buildings, but it's there! There's lots of parking, and the entrance to the restaurant looks so grand and dark and old-school while also having great pockets of sunlight from the patios. The staff are friendly and attentive. The big ass burger is indeed, big ass, and delicious. The huckleberry margaritas are tasty and pretty. I highly recommend coming here for happy hour.

It's our last night in town and we had a great last dinner here in AZ! When we arrived, there were a few hostesses at the hostess stand. Since it was our last night here, and we didn't have one photo of us on our vacation, we asked if one of them wouldn't mind taking our picture. One of the gals (I didn't get her name) said yes and suggested we go outside for better lighting. She was so fun and enthusiastic and took some good pics! She then took us to our table. Celeste was our server and she was great! She has lots of personality and gave good input about menu items. The restaurant is huge! And it looks nice. It's rustic , but not too much so. We really enjoyed everything about our meal there and we would definitely go back!

Iceberg BLT
Mark R.

We were able to get a booth in the bar area without a reservation. We shared an iceberg BLT salad and a 12 ounce fillet. Both were very good and the fillet was cooked to perfection. Also had two Tito's martinis that came in separate shakers, so it was a very generous poor. The dining room is very beautiful, the bar area was loud but bearable.

Category 6 Lemonade
Ashley L.

This place is way bigger than I expected, with a great patio and lively ambiance. We were seated right away, and our server Kaileigh was fantastic: friendly, attentive, and full of personality. Honestly, the service here was the best part of the night. The drinks, unfortunately, were a mixed bag leaning heavily toward disappointment. The house favorite Raging Rita was so tart it made my face pucker. It felt like they forgot any kind of sweet element--simple syrup, agave, anything--and the result was a "we have margaritas at home" kind of situation. I gave it a 2/10 only because I did finish it. The Category 6 Lemonade, on the other hand, was shockingly drinkable considering it had four different liquors in it. It was smooth without being too sweet and ended up being the standout cocktail. The Peach Palmer sounded great on paper but was so watered down it tasted like someone showed iced tea a picture of a peach and called it a day. My husband couldn't stand it, and I wouldn't recommend it either. The Envious Old Fashioned sealed the deal for the drink menu--just bourbon in a glass with a sad cherry. No balance, no sweetness, no depth. Food wasn't much better. The queso de puerco was the winner by far--creamy, spicy, full of pork, and packing a nice amount of heat. It was a little thin and oily until we stirred it, but it kept us dipping back for more. Sadly, everything else fell flat. The "Big Ass Burger" looked incredible when it hit the table but ended up being all show and no flavor. The patty was undercooked (rare instead of medium), unseasoned, and completely overwhelmed by the bun. Poblano? Nonexistent. We even tried drowning it in queso to rescue it, but eventually gave up and sent it back. At least the fries were crisp, well-seasoned, and perfect with the queso. We swapped the burger for the crispy chicken bites with Nashville seasoning, but that was no upgrade. It was basic frozen chicken thrown in a fryer and dusted with generic "Nashville hot" powder. Spicy, yes, but with no flavor beyond that, and the ranch dip was just as uninspired and definitely not house-made. For a place with so many glowing reviews, this visit was a real letdown. The ambiance is fun, the patio is great, and the service, especially from Kaileigh and the manager, was excellent. But when the food is mostly a fail and the drinks can't carry their weight, even great service can't save the night. As much as I wanted to like it, queso alone can't make up for everything else. Sadly, we won't be back.

Ask the Community - Roaring Fork

Is this a quieter place to be able to have a conversation?

Not that I can remember. It was pretty busy.

The website has images of pizza but pizza isn't on the menu online. Do they offer pizza?

They have Flatbread which looks like pizza but really is not pizza.

And what days of the week is HH too? Thanks!

4-6p in BAR ONLY, but think it's everyday. Suggest a call to confirm.

When does HH start and end?

4-6pm. It's in the bar area ONLY so people usually line up outside before 4pm.

I have been trying to reach them for days to confirm my reservation for my daughters 21st?Can someone confirm they are still in business.

They don't bother answering the phone or return voicemail messages. It's a crappy way to do business but it seems to work for them. They'll contact you the day before your reservation.

What time is happy hour?

Happy Hour starts at 4:00 pm - they ring a bell then allow you to find a seat in the bar area - first come/first served. I am not sure with Covid-19 and social distancing if they allow everyone to pack in the lobby to wait for the bell.

Does roaring fork take apple pay?

sorry I do not know.

Where was Roaring Fork before it moved to Scottsdale Rd?

I believe it has always been on Scottsdale road. At least since 2002...

Is there any vegan meat on the menu?

I was just there last night and did not see anything of this kind.

Do you have happy hour every day?

Yes! 4-6pm

Is it true you have specials on non-major holidays such as today, the Presidents Da?

Today we are offering our regular Happy Hour and dinner menu.

Yelp says the restaurant is byob is that true?

Businesses with liquor license do not permit any kind of outside alcoholic beverage

The bartenders are amazing however we are sad our normal peeps have left. Tonight Sean KILLED it with us and so glad he was still there since first meeting him on Halloween. Honestly the reason for 4 stars is the fact the drunken wifey is gone and the 3% credit card fee. We have been coming here for a little over 5 years and never had to pay that. Wild change and slightly bs. You already charge a lot for food and drinks (increases over the years are noticeable with management changes) but when you always have a rather large bill usually $700-sometimes over $1000 depending on the kind of evening we're having it is going to be very noticeable. A change like that needs to be more obvious, minus a little print at the bottom of the menu. No one even noticed (since we really didn't need the menu to order) nor did our server. It truly makes me want to give you a three star but I can't discredit the hard working staff and people in the kitchen, as it is clearly the change of new management and the "rebuild" from the beginning of the year. It speaks volumes to a group that has been dedicated to the Americano since March of 2020 and now makes us wonder if it's time to move onto a different restaurant.

Ground level elegant, cozy bar and 2-top seating, main dining is downstairs and in addition to booths and tables, there's another bar. If I was shopping at Fashion Mall and wanted to stop in for Happy about libation and shareable bites to eat, would stay upstairs. They've got a lively happy hour program. The food and beverage program shines in a lot of ways. Cocktails are inventive and ai tried their riff on an Old Fashioned they call Fancy Cowboy Attire. It includes a peanut mole and cinnamon ... I was hesitant at first, but my knowledgeable server Izzy assured me it was really good. She was spot on. I loved it. There are some nice maki sushi appetizer offerings as well as some other shareable that evoke American and French influences. I ordered the oysters from the west coast US. Really fresh and served traditionally. Don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. For entree, went with the New Orleans/French. Inspired Salmon. Perfectly cooked and served with roasted potato, artichokes, arugula, and I think a béchamel sauce. Light and flavorful. Paired well with a nice 9 oz pour of French Sancerre. For dessert tried the schoolmate sticky toffee. Melts in your mouth. Dessert menu is fantastic. Had a hard time picking just one. Throughout the meal, staff was attentive and knowledgeable and my server Izzy was not afraid or hesitant to offer recommendations. I was super impressed. Entrance to Society Swan just opposite the green garage valet which is convenient. With cocktail, wine, appetizer, entree and dessert I was at about $150 before tax and tip. That would be a good per person estimate for the full, enjoyable meal. Highly recommend.

Service felt a little rushed like we were taking too long with our 3 courses for 3 people. Crispy chicken potstickers were pretty good, w a great sauce for dipping. Ten vegetable salad was good but a little small if that was the regular menu size. Wagyu pigs in a blanket were my favorite thing. Short rib had good risotto but sauce was way too sweet. Chicken francese was our favorite entree. Good flavor w great sauce. Maine lobster roll wasn't that good. Didn't taste like much, like no seasoning and seemed to have something extra that didn't help. As a person from New England, this wouldn't hold up back East. Desserts were okay. Sticky toffee wasn't for me. Praline cake thing was alright. The tart was the best. I wouldn't call their martinis "world famous" as the restaurant does. My wife's dirty was almost crystal clear. Anyone who orders a dirty martini wants enough brine to make it cloudy, at least a little bit. This one was like it had no salt to it. Fancy Cowboy Attire is a horrible drink. Like diabetes sweet. I don't know how a rye whiskey drink could be this bad. It may be the worst $18 cocktail I've ever had. I had to chug it and hated it. It took us about 10-15 minutes to find two open spots next to each other; but we're glad we did. There were all kinds of people visiting, bachelorette parties, corporate employees in suits, casual patrons, and loud ones lol. Downside was that the waiter that served us was a little rude. I get that he was completely slammed but answering your kind and patient patron with "you already did" after I simply asked "can I ask you a question?" was just off putting. I genuinely wanted to learn more about why the name was what it was. He finally explained that they opened in 1988 which a few of us enjoyed to hear. Idk - just be kind. It's free. Would I come back? Probably not at 8pm on a Saturday night. But yes, definitely during a slower time.
